SSH /Telnet Access Issue

Hi ,
I installed OEL4.6 (32 bit) on two servers with all the important packages to install the Oracle 10g. I configured the Host1 as 192.168.1.101 and Host2 as 192.168.1.102. I have configure the NICs and can verify with 'ifconfig'. I have entries for both servers in the /etc/hosts file. I can ping the Host1 from Host2 and vice-versa.
I checked and started the sshd with 'service sshd start' with status OK. While installing the OS I did not opt for firewall. I am not able to login to any of the server using ssh. Neither from Host1 to Host2 nor from Putty (SSH Client). Ping is only working.
Please help me to resolve the issue.

Hi Guys,
I checked and ssh port is open. I started the vnc on this server but it is not working from vnc client. For local console of Host1 I am able to login from Host1 by it self through ssh. But not from Putty or any other ssh client. From the same Putty I am able to login to other server in same subnet.

ASA ssh,telnet.jar smart tunnels problems

Hi
From my asa I'm trying to gain access to some servers Linux (no local firewalls on them) from the clientless session using the ssh,telnet jar plugin.
The plugin starts and shows the login prompt and then I enter the correct user name and passwords and then I'm left with a black square.
Any suggestions for debugging?
ASA runnig 9.1, the problem is to both Linux boxes and a IOS router.

On testing the above even further, I seem to have an issue...
With the following configuration loaded...
aaa-server TLS-ACS5 protocol tacacs+
aaa-server TLS-ACS5 (inside) host 10.0.20.200

aaa authentication ssh console TLS-ACS5 LOCAL
aaa authentication telnet console TLS-ACS5 LOCAL

With the PIX in communication with the ACS the above works well, with me successfully logging in with credentials added to the ACS.
On testing this further I have taken the link down between the PIX and the ACS (to recreate a failure scenario). I can still login using the internal (LOCAL) username & password. This seems to work fine, however if I try to access the exec-privilege mode (i.e. enable) the PIX does not except the enable password added to the configuration moreover it prefers the same password used for creating the initial user.

enable password enablepass123 encrypted
For example; with the above lines in the running configuration of the PIX , I can login into PIX using admin-user and enter the password adminpass123. However, if I try and then go onto access exec-privilege mode (i.e. enable) the PIX does not except the password "enablepass123" put does except "adminpass123"... this is even with "aaa authentication enable console TLS-ACS5 LOCAL" added to the running configuration.
Has anyone else seen this issue on a PIX/FW. Am I missing something from my configuration? Does anyone know of a workaround to this issue or is it just something I have to live with?

Restrict telnet access for specific users on ios router

username bbb password bbb
user aaa should have ssh and telnet access.
user bbb is only used for vpn authentication, i dont want him to access router via ssh or telnet ,even in user exec mode.
i also can not apply access-class on vty lines because i am loging in device from different places ,and dont know exact ranges of ip address to create access-list
radius and tacacs is not option for me
what can be done in order to restrict user bbb from ssh and telnet access ?

Rescue CD/distribution that enables ssh/telnet on boot?

Hi all,
I am looking for a distribution/live cd that enables ssh/telnet (or something similar) on boot. The reason I need this: I am trying to get data from a broken all-in-one PC (only the monitor appears broken), and do not have access to a monitor.
I have searched google for this, and it looks like this particular livecd may not exist, and that I may have to create my own livecd (something I have never done before...).
I figured I'd ask here first, in case anyone knew of such a livecd.

I tried this earlier, but it did not seem to work. I'll move the PC downstairs and hook it up straight to the router instead of my current usage of powerline ethernet (seems harder to find the IP with nmap), and try the arch iso again.
The good news is that I know it boots from the CD, from looking at the various lights and listening to the hdd/drive sounds. xD

Denying Telnet Access on Catalyst 6509

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to disable or deny telnet access to my 6509s (CATOS). I recently put a crypto image on and I have SSH running. I would like to replace telnet access with SSH for remote management. However, I couldn't find a way to turn telnet off...right know both SSH and telnet are working, which kind of defeats the purpose of me putting the crypto image on.
I was able to do this on my IOS switches with the command: switch(config-line)#transport input ssh.

You can use ip permit lists on CATOS
# set ip permit
ds-sw> (enable) set ip permit 1.1.1.1 ?
Set IP permit mask
telnet Set telnet permit entry
snmp Set snmp permit entry
I'm running an old version of CATOS on a 5500 which doesn't support SSH but you should see SSH on your list of protocols.
I think you will need use "clear ip permit telnet" first.

Ssh, telnet, ftp & tftp services stop working

I have a new SunV245 running Solaris 9 that when I start the server up everything works good, but after 8-12 hours the network type services quit working (ssh, telnet, ftp, & tftp) however I can still ping the interfaces so the network is there. I reboot and everything starts working again. Has anyone seen this before? Is there some kind of power save option that could be shutting the inetd type services down?

Everyone browsing via BM proxy continues with no interuption.
The mail server can telnet to any other server on the internal LAN but
nothing past BM. DNS continues working for the mail server too.

Do you mean port scan the BM server?
I know that "nothing has changed" is a loaded statement. The only thing
(that I know of) that has changed relatively recently is the addition of
the Squid server. It has been running behind the BM server for about 3
weeks. Recently I added a filter exception allowing the Squid server to
access higher ports (dyn/tcp).
But, as I noted before, I think removing ipflt should eliminate any
doubts there. Is there some way Squid could be corrupting something there?
The problem was compounded this morning (saturday). I came in today so I
would have the network essentially to myself. But, to my surprise,
everything was ok.
Cat, You're right. This server is no spring chicken. It is an IBM
Netfinity 3000. Its probably 3 or 4 years old (maybe more). I will think
about this as a hardware problem but I just wish the thing would die
altogether and get it over with. :o)

Financial reporting 11 1 2 2 Access issue for a user

Hi All,
I have a report designer group for Financial reporting 11.1.2.2. I have created a group called FR_GROUP in HSS and provide them the report designer access and added three MSAD users.
Now as admin we have a created a folder in workspace called FR and gave the group FR_GROUP Full acces to this folder FR.
Now the issue is the MSAD user who created the repot in FR folder can see the reports and open them and also the admin user but the other two MSAD users cant see the reports.
Any ideas how to fix this access issue?

Planning Access Issue

Hi guys,
Please take a look at the following access issue and let me know if you have come accross it.
Two dimensions

- Rev2
Dept
-Ops
-Sales
The desired access setup looks like this.
User1
For Rev1 - For Ops - Write ------and----- For Rev1 - For Sales - Read
For Rev2 - For Ops - Read ------and----- For Rev2 - For Sales - Write
I tried but could not set up the access as required.
If I set up User1 with Write for Rev1 then it gets overridden by the Read later.
Any ideas if this access setup can be achieved or if there is workaround this issue? Thanks.

Accessibility issues in dynamic PDF

Hi,
When a PDF is rendered as a dynamic form, we are having issues such as tables not being read by JAWS on screen reader.
Similarly check box values updated using javascript are not being recognized by the screen reader. Even though the value is updated by the script as 'checked', JAWS still reads it as 'unchecked'.
Note: Accessibility issues such as these seem to go away when the form is static. But we require the form to be dynamic.
We are using JAWS version 10.0 and Reader 9.0
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd be interested to see how this gets resolved. I was fooling around with JAWS a little bit back and found that JAWS has trouble with multiple subforms (i.e. complex tables and subforms within subforms with tables, etc.)

Adobe Reader 9 - access issue

I have the latest Reader: but I find I cannot access PDF documents from saved emails & directly from My Documents - I get the message 'H:\programme files\Adobe\Reader9.0\Eula.exe Windows cannot access the specified path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item' I am computer administrator.
I have Windows SP3
I use ZoneAlarm Pro & anti-virus (just in case this might be relevant)
Can anyone assist with an explanation & solution?

It appears this is not an Adobe Reader issue at all. I have had the same trouble downloading an update to an unrelated programme.
The solution appears to be in ZoneAlarm Pro - I have set the trust level and access permissions for Internet Explorer to 'super trusted' and 'allow' (programme control - programmes), and this seems to have worked.
Other forums point the finger at restrictions in IE7 Enhanced Security feature, and to similar restrictions in some anti-virus/anti spyware programmes. Also, some .exe files for download come automatically blocked, & need unblocking (right-click the .exe, choose properties, then general tab, where there is an 'unblock' button at the bottom.

Access issue: doc.importdataobject("myPDF","/c/temp/outfile.pdf");

Hi,
I have a pdf created in livecycle designer es 8.2 and coded in Javascript. Currently this pdf is placed in the shared location from where users can access. When users hit the submit button then PDFCreator installed on user's machine creates a scanned pdf and place it on the local machine. This scan pdf is then embedded into the main pdf using privileged JavaScript function (doc.importdataobject("myPDF","/c/temp/outfile.pdf");).
Now, I want to place the main pdf on the server so that user can access the pdf using URL.
When user access the pdf using URL and hit the submit button, it's creating scan pdf on the user machine, but it's failing on the import statement -doc.importdataobject("myPDF","/c/temp/outfile.pdf");.
I am not sure whether this is access issue or I need to do something else.
The path /c/temp/outfile.pdf must be local machine path but I am assuming import statement is looking on server directory.
If I remove the path from the import statement, it pops up a dialog box for browse. After selecting the outfile.pdf it works fine. But I can't ask users to follow this process.

What this in effect means is that if you want to use this command from a button and specify the cDIPath parameter it has to call a script in a trusted context, like one that is installed on the user's local machine. Otherwise you can't specify it yourself, but the user will need to select it manually.

Will Removal of sharepoint members group leads to access issues?

Hi,
we have a sharepoint 2013 site collection with 10 sub sites. On the top level I have members group with contribute permissions.
Due to some rules of organization, we created 3 different sharepoint groups giving contribute permissions at top level and added all the people from members group to these 3 groups based on some characteristics. After that we removed members group.
Since then when any one tries to log into the site, They are getting access required error.
If I add the members group back to the site, They are able to access.
My question is when the same person is already in one of the 3 groups with same contribute permissions at the top site level, How the removal of members group is leading to access issues?
Please guide me.

Hi Chaitanya,
As Vishal said, you need to check the issue occurs with which content in the site collection when the users try to access.
The issue may be due to that the content the users try to access has stopped inheritance from its parent and the newly created groups have no permission on the content.
In most scenarios, the Site Members group will have permission on most items even when the items have unique permissions(Stop inheritance from its parent).
When the Site Members group has been removed and the new groups have no permission on those items, then the users in the new groups will get Access Denied error.
I recommend to use Site collection administrator account to check the permission on the item where users get access denied error.
And grant permission to the new groups on those items.

Apple has to be more user friendly than to let something like this happen, right?

Did you change the ID, or did you create a new Apple ID? If you had simply changed the ID then what I suggested above should work as the ID itself is the same (even though the name of the ID - the address - has changed).
However if you created a new ID, logged in with that, and purchased items on it, then you have two separate IDs each with purchased associated with them. You say that you can't log in to the original account with the 'alternate' email - have you tried logging in with the original email address? It doesn't matter if it doesn't actually work to receive mail, as far as logging in is concerned it's just a text string.
