SSH to second internet connection

I have a 2800 series router with 2 internet connections from different providers. I can SSH to one internet address but not to the other.
Is it possible to setup the router so that SSH will work to both IP addressess?

No I cant ping it as I have ping turned off on both connections. I will turn it on and check later
today. Internet access was verified across both connections from inside though.
When I try to connect with an SSH client it times out. I don't see anything in the logs even with debug SSH turned on.
This is a zone based configuration. I have reviewed the configuration to see if anything is different from one side to other and couldn't see anything different. The only thing I have come up with so far is that this might not be possible due to default routes.
I have route maps setup on each connection, but also noticed that I have a default route statement. Do I need both?

  • ASA 5505 - 2 Internet Connections, Problems with the Default Route

    Hey there,
i have a Problem at a Customer Site at the moment. The customer uses an ASA 5505 with two internet connections attached to it. On the first connection (which is the only one in use at the moment) he has some Static-PAT's from Outside to Inside where he translates different services to the internal servers. He also has a site-2-site VPN terminating there and AnyConnect.
He now wants to switch the Internet Traffic from Inside to the new Internet Connection. Therefore changing the default route to that new ISPs Gateway. The problem now is, that no traffic recieved on the old "outside" Interface is transmitted back out of that old "outside" Interface. And this happens although the "same-security permit intra-interface" command is set.
Can you tell me what's wrong here? For every Static-PAT from outside to inside there is also a dynamic PAT from inside to outside. But the ASA seems to ignore this. I have not looked into the Logs yet, was too busy finding the problem because i had no real time window to test on the productive ASA.
Can it be achieved in any way? Having a default route on the ASA which leads any traffic to the second internet connection while still having connections on the first internet connection where no explicit route can be set? Because connections arrive from random IPs?
Many thanks for your help in advance!
    Steffen

Phillip, indeed , I have as well read may comments,it all depends on your environment as they all differ from one another, you best bet is to have a good solid plan for upgrade and fall back. You do have a justification to upgrade for features needed, so I would suggest the following:
1- Do a search again in forum for ASA code upgrades and look at comments from users that have gone through this process and note their impact in fuctionality if any. I believe this is good resource to collect information .
2- Very important , look into release notes for a particular version. For example version 8.0, look into open CAVEATS usually at the end of the link page, reading the open bugs gives you clues what has not yet been resolved for that particular code and if in fact could impact you in your environment, it is possible that a particular bug does not realy apply to your environment becuase you have yet not implemented that particualr configuration. Usually we all try to aim towards a GD (General Deployment) code which is what we all understand is most stable but not necesarily means you have to be stack in that code waiting for another GD release, in my personal experience I have upgraded our firewall from 7.2 to 8.0(3) long ago and had no issues, and recently upgraded to 8.0(4)when it was first release in August this year.
    Release notes
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/prod_release_notes_list.html
    3- AS a good practice precaution -
a-Backup firewall configs in clear text as well as via tftp code.
b-Backup running code and ASDM version code currently running in firewall.
c- Save the output of " show version " to have as reference for all the feature licenses you currently have running as asll as activation keys - good info to have to compare with after upgrade.
d- Ensure that the code you will be using to upgrade also uses correct ASDM version code.
I think with thorough assesment and preparation you can indeed minimize impact.

  • ASA5510 w/ (2) Internet Connections: Dedicated VPN traffic, Dedicated Internet traffic?

We have an ASA5510 and we're currently using 1 internet connection to handle our site-to-site VPN connection and our internet traffic. We have a second internet connection on hand. What we would like to do it use BOTH internet connections: (1) will be dedicated to our VPN connection, (1) will be handling all our internet traffic. How can we get this setup? We're running Software Version 8.4(1)

See below, this discussion will provider guidance as to how to setup your topology.

  • HT1725 My first time purchasing, downloading and watching a movie from itunes worked fine but the second did not!  An error (unknown error 50) kept coming up no matter how often I tried resuming the download or restarting my laptop and internet connection

My first ever purchase and download of a movie was successful but the second didn't download and came up with
"error 50 has occured".  I tried downloading numerous times again after checking my internet connection and rebooting my
laptop.  Still no luck and the Itunes store have charged me.  Any suggestions please?

This error can be quite common:

I am not able to access the "Settings" on my iPad 3. I just get a gray screen for about 30 seconds and then the app shuts down. I am also unable to access the App store, iTunes, or any app requiring an internet connection. Any thoughts?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • I can't update my ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server"(despite internet connection being fine). Also, when I try and update software it starts then stops after 2 seconds

I can't update my Ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server" despite internet connection being fine. When I receive a software update message;I say install and it starts updating then stops after 2 seconds. Help! (It is a 3rd gen IPod touch(I think)). Presumably as a result of this, I have tried to put my library onto my gf's new iPod touch and it just charges it..doesn't download my library onto the touch).

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • HH5 loses internet connection for a few seconds

I am struggling with the same issue for quite some time now.
We have HH5 Type A  and BT Infinity 2 unlimited
All of a sudden it happens several times a day that we lose the internet connection. At the same time, the HH5 manager doesn't respond either.
I can not find anything in the HH5 event log that could tell me what causes it. First it started with the HH5 restarting on its own several nights in a row. Then I found out at least one of them was when they updated the firmware.
Last night according to the event log the hub restarted again for no apparent reason.
So this morning I was playing on my tablet and suddenly bang the connection was lost, I checked Hub manager via my PC and all I got was again can't connect. Tried to google and no internet on my PC either.
There is nothing in wired Lan or Wifi event viewer, I don't get an orange broadband light on the HH5. Everything looks like nothing has ever been wrong.
I have done a factory reset and that didn't help at all.
    I keep getting this though
    Time and date                                Message

  • I can't download OS5 or, rather, iTunes does download it about 450 mb and then, a few seconds after it starts processing the file, I get the message that I am timed out and am recommended to check my internet connection. I am using 3g to download it.

I don't know which country you're in, but in the US, carriers limit the amount of download for a single file when using 3G.  Have you tried wifi?

  • Only 10 seconds of Internet connectivity on Intel based iMac

My iMac of 2007 is having trouble connecting to the Internet.
The setup is pretty straight forward. The iMac is connected through ethernet to a motorola cable modem. The provider is Ziggo. I live in The Netherlands.
Two PC's, a desktop and a laptop work fine and keep working when plugging in the ethernet cable.
Plug the ethernet cable in the iMac and everything works fine too -- Only for 10 seconds! Then internet connectivity is lost, while the ethernet status remains "connected" and even the IP address is still there.
A "Renew DCHP Lease" gives me another 10 seconds of Internet connectivity, after that same problem.
I changed cables, just to be sure. Even though the PC's are working fine with the original cable.
I've reset the modem a 100 times already.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Solution was simple, just leave all PC's turned off for a day. The modem "forgets" the MAC addresses and all works fine.

  • Internet connection off and on, off and on, every few seconds

This problem started on my new MacBook Pro - Internet connection was cycling off/on, off/on, every few seconds.  Sometimes restarting the machine brought back a steady connection.  Then I was using Teamviewer to transfer files from Mac Mini to MacBook Pro and had good connection for hours.  Then suddenly - off/on off/on every few seconds, exactly like the MacBook Pro.
Tried all the usual things but here's the clue that the problem is likely in Mavericks 10.9.2 or peculiar to the Mac in some other way: I have a PC on the same network and right now, as we speak, connection is steady, so it seems clear the problem isn't my modem (though I did try resetting it) or ISP, while the two Macs both are cycling WiFi off/on off/on every few seconds, .
    Anyone got a clue?

Clinton, from various posts in forums about the Motorola SBG6580, an integrated router/modem, and seeing several posts about exactly the problem I am experiencing, it appears pretty likely that  a firmware update is needed.  Goiing into my modem admin panel, I do see that the firmware version is a much earlier number than the version recommended by various users.  It also appears I am not able to do this myself and must call my ISP, which I can't do until tomorrow.
Sounds like I know what I'm doing, doesn't it?  Ha.
If it turns out this doesn't solve things, I'll come back and try to answer your questions.

  • Instaling second ethernet card / sharing internet connection

    Hiya.
Is it possible to share my cable broadband service ( PS3 etc ) through my PPC G4, maybe by installing a second ethernet pci card and sharing the internal ethernet, or is there any other possibilities. no airport, but do have a D-link bluetooth dongle...

As other posters have pointed out, you don't need a second ethernet card to share out your connection - if you have an existing router (with a number of ethernet connections), you can connect your game consoles to that, and your ISP will be none the wiser. Your ISP will still give you one IP address; your router does the translation into multiple private IP addresses (eg 10.0.1.1, 10.0.1.2, etc)
Another option is to buy an inexpensive network switch, put that between the router and the Mac, connect the other devices to the switch, and turn on sharing from ethernet to ethernet. But you really don't need to with a router on the network.
If you share out your Mac's internet connection, the devices behind the connection will get IP addresses in the range 192.168.2.x (the Mac will effectively be their router/DHCP server at 192.168.2.1).

  • 50 second  startup, shutdown, internet connection etc. No new apps added in recent past

Problem: 50 second plus startup, shutdown, slow internet connections regardless of networks. have not added new apps recently. Tried removing startup items, holding down the left shift, option and control and the power button for 10 seconds, running disk utility, reducing number of files,  nothing helped.

  • Time Capsule drops Internet connection for 2-5 seconds

Is anyone having an issue with losing internet connection for about 2-5 seconds randomly? Started after I got the Time Capsule. First noticed it when my phone calls would drop for a second(Vonage). Did not think much of it until I noticed it dropping while playing online games?
Any Ideas? I hear it could be the latest firmware upgrade but can’t remember if this happened before.

If your Windows boxes are on the same WiFi network, that could be. I use to work with PC's and Macs combined. Not to bash Windows , but a number of problems we had were always Windows related.
You might try and just unhook your Windows boxes and see if it goes away! LOL
