SSHR Automating Allowances

We are implementing SSHR using International HRMS and Payroll.
Client wants to automate some allowances such as Business Trip Allowance, Fuel Allowance etc, in SSHR.
Since we setup basic benefits in core HR, we need to get only an approval for these allowances. We don't want to use ICD becoz only basic compensation setup is done in core HR. Once got approved notification for these process, HR department will manually enter the element for this in Payroll.
I think we can use ICD for Standard & Advanced benefits.
Please give your inputs.

Automator won't save as Application

Why doesn't automator allow saving workflows as applications anymore?
The only option is that rediculous "save version" feature. If you want to call it a feature.

Ok figured it out. This is very lame you have to choose file duplicate to... then select the Application template, then you can save as application. Apple has finally hired too many folks from Microsoft.

Can't get simple Automator actions (services) to work

I've been trying to get very simple Automator services to work in 10.6.2 but I can't. Here's an example.
I launch Automator, and hit Services, then choose:
Service receives selected: audio files in: any application.
Then add an action: Set Info of iTunes Songs, and fill in some of the fields. Then I hit save and give it a filename "iTunes Assign Info."
When I go to the Finder and right-click on an MP3, I see an option there for "iTunes Assign Info" and I select it, but it doesn't work -- the file never gets those properties.
Same thing happens for a similar action for graphic files:
Service receives selected: files and folders in: any application
Then I add some resizing and scaling actions. Then I save. I test by right-clicking on a JPG in the finder, choosing my action, but the action never takes effect.
What am I doing wrong?

oh yes, there is.
this is a computer program. it has to be precise. it only understand input of certain format which in this case is an itunes object not an mp3 file. the action uses scripting tools of itunes. it only works with with items in itunes library. and it says so. to use it you'd have to import the track into itunes first, change the title info and spit the file back out. there are scripts out there that do that. look here

there may be one that does what you want there already.
And Automator allows such a file to be passed from the Finder to it. Plus the metadata gets written directly to the file (not to iTunes), therefore, that action should work. (The description doesn't say it won't; it slightly implies that it will.)

On the second (image resize), I should have mentioned that I tried it both with and without Get Selected Finder Items and neither works.
works perfectly for me as a service without "get selected finder items".

Looking to create a simple Automator workflow.

Alright. First off, understand I know NOTHING at ALL about actual coding, programming, Automator stuff, nothing at all.
I do know that Automator allows you to string together multiple actions as an app.
I also know that I have some very specific tasks I want to string together, and I ALSO know I want you guys' help with this.
1. Force Quit Minecraft.app (may not be open all the time) (MUST be force quit, cmnd+q won't work, I promise)
2. Double-Click app icon, which I need named "Snapshot Installer."
3. Locate filename minecraft.jar    inside the folder ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin.
4. Rename minecraft.jar   to backup.jar
5. Locate minecraft.jar    in downloads folder (not sure what to call that without violating my privacy)
6. Move minecraft.jar from downloads folder to ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin
7. Display a banner window saying "You have sucessfully upgraded to the newest Snapshot."

Hello? can I get any help here?

just create target group for the every channel
same target group should be there ,then u can use the campaing elemsnts for ur purpose
this way u will be able to do campaign automation using diff comm. channels

Cannot use Word2008 doc/docx file to Create PDF (single or multiple)

Attempting to Create PDF from File >> Single file or Multiple File>> selection of MS-Word2008 .docx or 97-compatible .doc file will error out.
Adobe has replicated the problem of receiving the same exact error message with Word2008(mac) doc/docx file as input for Acrobat Pro
fessional 9 to Create PDF. Possible cause is the absence of PDFMaker for Ver9.
No solution exists.
Due to resident PDF functionalities of OSX Snow Leopard built into Preview and Print, Acrobat Professional 9 is
a redundant product for all MacOSX Snow Leopard computers. Only useful functionaity of Acrobat is Create Portfolio and possibly Reduce File Size.
The non-Universal Automator allows for the creation of PDF through PDF drop down menu available from Word>>Print Dialog which allows for Acrobat PDF option to choose Press/High-Quality/Smallest-File/Standard that can be modified through Distiller.
Conclusion: Acrobat Professional 9 for MacOSX Snow Leopard as a stand-alone product is Obsolete - Dead on Arrival (DOA). Still useful when used in conjunction with bundled CS4 Suites.

There is much Acrobat can do once the PDF create created.
Go to Print Menu and save as Postscript file then drop on Acrobat.

ITunes, filename cleanup and id3tag clean up HELP and suggestions.. :)

I have my mp3's organized by filename.. artist name - song name.mp3 ex. Killarmy - 5 stages of consciousness
I have been doing it manually but there has to a different and better way... I have about 4000 songs and i done did 1000 of them in two weeks.. I'm lookin for a script that removes the _ underscore character in filenames, for example Killa-_army_-_5_stages_ofconsiousness.mp3 that ish looks ******** plus i want a clean easy to look and navigate system for my mp3's..
can anyone help? Also any tips and info on running sed scripts would be greatly appreciated as i have never run one yet..
also i tried wikipedia but got nowhwere what is the "standard" format for naming songs and their respective id3 tags?
What are others tips and info for keeping my collection clean and organized by filename and the same thing for cleaning up my id3 tags? I don't like muche less use itunes keep songs organized options as i did not like the way it created hundreds of folders/albums based on the crappy id3 tags..

AUTOMATOR was awesome!!!! it came thru EXACTLY what i needed and wanted..
In basics all i was doing was renaming file's workgroup.. is there a way to save that so that i jus click on it and it comes in and i then jus add my files i want to rework? otherwise i ended up doing set of files by right clickin and goin to automator and basically startin over for each one...
also i found that if you do one run command and then go back and do another one it has no effect? why is that? ex. I replace an (1) with a space on ten files in automator I then click on another workgroup to insert text and run it and NOTHING happens.. i have to close automator and right click and set it all up again... kinda tedious.. but overall mad happy wit the results..
It does not that automator allows me apply it to itunes specifically the ID3 tag info.. so whats the best way to go about cleanin up my id3 tags? anyone?
any more tips and issues on this would help?

2. I have my filenames in chronological order but when i xfr em to my ipod they are all out of order, why is that and how do i fix that?

Mounting Network Drives

I have created a workflow that includes "Get Specified Servers" connectng to: "afp://SS-SERVER.local." followed by another action to "Connect to Servers". This works beautifully until I'm prompted with the various drives I wish to mount.
I can of course select the drives and mount them, but does anyone know how I might "instruct" the Automator to completed the tasks of; Clicking "Connect", selecting the Drives I wish to mount, and then clicking "OK"?
I read a few threads in the "Apple Script" discussion but I'm not too familiar with apple script. Can anyone help?

I haven't tried connecting to a server in a long while, but I'm trying to test this out. Hopefully someone else can shed some more light for you than I can.
I was under the impression you can specify the drive, or perhaps the folder, within the server address by appending a "/" and the name of it. If so, then that would allow you set the drive to connect to within the address.
One tip that might help you figure this out is to not try to emulate your physical actions, for example don't try to get Automator to click this or click that in dialogs. Focus on results.
So, in this case, what you need is to have the workflow connect to a server and mount the drive. That's it. There should be nothing to do with clicking this or that because Automator wouldn't be going through dialogs since the actions for Automator allow it to perform its tasks. That is, when you run a workflow, you typically won't see dialogs because Automator isn't a human being that needs dialogs to interface with the computer. Dialogs and windows are for humans. Just a tip that might help you with other workflows.
I think the only trouble you might have is if you need a user name and password to connect, but that might be handled in the background with your keychain (i.e. Keychain Access) so you wouldn't have to worry about that after you've connected to a server at least once. I need to find a server to test it out, but hopefully someone else with some recent experience will reply.

We are doing QTP automation testing for our flex application. But after running all 30 tests it is showing License not present. with the trail version only limited replays are allowed. We are using flex sdk 3.5 and flash builder 4 plugin for eclipse. we are building our application using ant and we are deploying the application directly and testing it. Can any one tell Steps to resolve this issue...

Automation: How to allow java plug-ins to run when the page is invoked via Selenium FF driver?

My automated test involves navigating to a webpage on a remote system (via Selenium Firefox Driver) which runs a Java Plug-in to launch an embedded Java Applet. When the test first ran, I connected to the remote system (via Remote Desktop) and manually selected "Allow and Remember" as the plug-in was trying to run. However, this only addressed that first instance; it didn't address subsequent instances where I wanted to run the same test, same server (same plug-in).

How can I allow automated emails

I'm having trouble receiving automated emails that I want. I have added the sites to my safe list and my cookies are set to allow third party but I still don't seem to be receiving the emails I want. Any suggestions?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

Automator won't allow pioneer dvd to save as app

Sometime between May2 2013 and June 24 2013 automator quit allowing me to save my Pioneer 118L (it is in the upper bay) to either a workflow or an app. When I just build a workflow and run it everything is great. But when I save it and reopen it has reverted to the Optiarc which in in the lower bay. All apps and workflows prior to that time are fine but if I open one of the workflows it will change the drive to Lower Optiarc. Even if I change the drive and save it reverts to the Lower Optiarc. Any Ideas outthere.

I went to Get Info on my External Drive and under Sharing & Permissions, all the Named persons, Me, Staff and everyone are set to Read and Write. Underneath that, "Ignore Ownership on this volume" is checked.
I then went to add "Automator" but that isn't a valid user. However I did note that Admin wasn't on the list. So I am adding that to the list of users with read & write capability and see what happens.
I am wondering if this is a bug in Yosemite?

Allow desktop interaction within Azure Cloud Service with third-party desktop app (automated via code)

I am developing a wrapper service as Worker Role which will take request from Service Bus and automate a third-party desktop app to produce an output file and then upload result back to our web server. The automation is accomplished with the app's
built-in .Net remoting based API. This all works on my local development machine. I am using code as below to start the desktop app. In Azure:
If I am not logged on to RDP and run the app as SYSTEM (or whatever the default WorkerRole account is), it waits forever for the MainWindowHandle.
if I start the app manually in the RDP and try to get a reference to the running process (again as SYSTEM), I get Access Denied from WaitForInputIdle.
if I start the app from code as the RDP user (ProcessStartInfo assign user/pass), I get InvalidOperationException - the app might not have a graphical interface from the WaitForInputIdle.
Could anyone suggest the proper strategy for starting processes in a Worker Role that must create a window?
For reference, I only care about the window to the extent that I need to make sure it's there. All other interaction with the process is via the .Net Remoting API.

I'd keep the app with the UI and the queue reader in the same process and account - not a worker role. On start up you launch the desktop application and the queue reader in the same account, one after another.
From what I've experienced, two users don't have the same
Window Stations, so you can't pass a window handle in a different logged-in account across that boundary. Read the Window Station documentation - you may find something that helps.
You could use other techniques like sockets to communicate cross-process and cross-window station, too.

You appear to have installed quite an impressive amount of extensions, both enabled and disable extensions, and that could be a possible cause or there are otherwise problems with gathering this information.

I have a big list of categories and names here: http://www.alecquighardworker.com/97-69.txt (1). Pretty much every separate line needs to be turned into a folder titled what’s on that line. (Ex: Folders for “Art” “TodPapageorge-Richard_BWoodward” “AnthonyMccall-Graham_Ellard_and_StephenJohnstone” and so on). Is there an automated way of doing this? Otherwise I’d be creating a bunch of folders and then copy and pasting endlessly.
And, what would REALLY be cool is if I could automate so a process would go through this document and create the folders that follow some sort of hierarchy. Ideally, the folders would be like “Art” > “TodPapageorge-Richard_BWoodward”, “AnthonyMccall-Graham_Ellard_and_StephenJohnstone”, “JudithLinhares-Madison_SmarttBell”, “Literature” > “LynneTillman-GeoffreyOBrien”, “Poetry” > “Laurie_Sheck”, “Anne_Waldman”, “Donald_Platt” and so on. If those could all be under the folder “Fall2006,_No97” it might allow me to go through this entire huge document very quickly and relatively easily.
What will ultimately happen with all of this data: There are already folders numbered 1-100, each containing folders for called “Art” “Literature” “Poetry” “Fiction” “Music” “Film” “Theatre” and so on. (Here's a pic of that heirarchy: http://www.alecquighardworker.com/Picture%201.png). All of the folders I create will have to be moved into those preexisting folders. Unfortunately I’m only an intermediate QS user at best. However, if anyone has any ideas, or even other programs or places to look for general automation help, I would very much appreciate!
