SSID keeps dropping

Good afternoon all,
I recently deployed a new 5508 controller and 2600i AP's.  The controller is currently running 7.4.110 code.  The AP's broadcast 4 SSID's.  However one of the SSID's continuously drops the client connections.  This SSID is used for our BYOD network.  So users with Tablets and mobile phones are affected.  I tested using my tablet and experieced frequent drops.  However my company issued laptop stay connected via its SSID without dropping.
I've scanned the area for interence and found nothing.  However CleanAir did indicated that there is a DECT phone sort on the floor.  I'm thinking its the HVAC system and its sensors but I haven't been able to determine that yet. Anyone have any furter tips and tricks to help me determine the culprit of these dropped connection?   I moved back to my floor and I am stable again.  Its only that particular floor for now.

There was a bug in 7.4.60.0 in this nature where 2.4GHz SSID dissapearing for short period of time. Since you are running 7.4MR1 this was fixed in that version, but anyway have a look on it & see whether behaviour is same or not
CSCug46718-New client 802.11 auth fails 3600 or 2600 AP on 2.4GHz band after time
Only occurs on 2.4GHz band radio with CleanAir capable APs (Cisco  Aironet 2600, 3500, and 3600 series Access Points) with software release  version 7.4.100.0 and above.

  • Wrvs4400n keep dropping wireless connection

    hi there,
has anyone got problem with  wrvs4400n keep dropping the wireless connection? i tried to find out anywhere but not much hints are given how to solve the issue.
i have 1.1.03 firmware installed, and currently running on
    b/g/n mixed on channel 9
    wpa2 personal mixed security
the rest of the settings on default
i had the router running for about 3 months and most of the time i have to either restart the server to get the wireless working again. normally the wireless works ok until few days when suddenly I just can't access the internet using the wireless.
once i replug my computer using cable, the wireless router suddenly can give me IP address and the wireless return back to normal.
    i have tried to use
    different channels
changing to G/N, and B/G mode
    change key renewal frequency
    reduce RTS Threashold
accessing the wireless router from 3 different wireless network card
none of them really works, normally after few days, 1 week top, i suddenly lost wireless connection again. the SSID still there, i can authenticate, somehow the wireless just won't give me IP address
checking the website, it seems like i'm on the latest firmware from linksys and they don't seem updating the firmware anymore, is this product not supported anymore?
anyone knows of the same problem ? or has already solved the issue?

    Hey Stewey,
I have a similar problem with my iMac G5. My roommate, who has an HP, bought a Linksys WRT54G when we moved in to our place and it gives me trouble with Airport sometimes. We use G only and WPA Personal. I updated the firmware in February and I swear it got a bit better, but it still goes out sometimes. If I move it just a few inches in any direction, generally it will start working again. Resetting it also helps sometimes. I don't know if its the fact that it doesn't say it's compatible with any Mac on the box, but it's annoying as all ****. My roomie rarely has problems with it (our rooms are the same distance away from the router), but my friend brought his PB over to do some work and he had trouble in my room as well. Is it Linksys, or is it Airport? I have no idea. Our router is out in the living room, next to the TV and Xbox 360, so it might be interference. If possible, try moving the router to higher ground and away from other electronics.
I tried looking up your router online to see if I could find anything else out. Didn't find too much info, but it says that you get free 24 hour tech support. You don't see that too often. If you can't figure it out, give them a call.
    Good luck!

    Re wifi:
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • WiFi stays connected but internet keeps dropping

    Hi all
Got a number of wired and wireless devices on my home network, all fed by my BT HomeHub 3.
What I've noticed recently is that both my iPad and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Tab keep dropping the internet connection. The WiFi connection appears to be unaffected. We're also getting issues with other wireless devices, but to a lesser extent as we use those considerably less.
I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of to date. I've done a hard reset on my ipad, reset network settings, restored the ipad, changed the web key, but as I'm sitting here tonight not 6 feet away from my router I'm still getting internet disconnection, whilst still full bars on my wifi connection.
I've already done numerous router reboots, and now considering a factory reset. Any other suggestions? Possibly a faulty router, or too many devices on my network?

OK, full reset done on the HH3.
I haven't touched the Channel seletion at all, and it's returned the following:
Here's the results from my WiFi analyser:
My main WiFi from my router (TvLounge) is showing on channel 6.  I also have another BT HomeHub 2 connected off a PowerLine adapter acting purely as a switch / WiFi access point on channel 9 (OldLounge) and finally an all-in-one PowerLine adapter and WiFi access point on channel 13 (CharlottesRoom).
As soon as I have reset the router i restored the SSID and WPA / WPA2 password to as it was beore. Directly after this, all devices successfully reconnected, and I immediately had intermittent WiFi issues on all connected devices (still connected to the router but loss of internet). At the time I was connected with x2 iPads, x1 Samsung Galaxy Tab, x1 Android phone.  Throughout this time I was still able to connect to the internet via my server.

  • Wireless keeps dropping out

The wireless was working fine, i had it working with network-manager i then was doing some work that i wanted to do via ethernet so switched the wireless off using the switch and now it keeps dropping out, i have had to remove network-manager as it wouldnt let me connect to wired for some reason, and have tried to get wireless re-working with wifi-menu, i have delected the config and created one using the examples and using netcfg and still having no luck. I looks as if the device is going into "power saving" and wont come out, outputs below:
    iwconfig

  • AP541N-E-K9 keeps dropping all WLAN connections

I hope someone could shed some light on an issue we have with our AP541N-E-K9 on the latest firmware.
Our issue sounds similar to this thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2028334
Our AP541N-E-K9 keeps dropping all WLAN connections and will not allow us to connect via WIFI. I have to switch the unit off and on but even so sometimes it will take 10 mins for the WLAN to accept new connections. Nothing has changed on the network for months as it is a very basic scenario ie Draytek DSL Router -> Cat5e cable -> AP541N-E-K9, thats it! The AP is really only used for guest access and may have about 15 staff connected via WIFI at any one time.
    Thanks

    Hi Alena,
I've changed the access point to use channel 1 which seemed to work for about 5 mins and then all wireless devices have dropped off and the even log keeps showing:

  • Any idea why my iPhone4 keeps dropping its wifi connection?

I have a new iPhone4 (an upgrade for my iPhone 3GS).  It has been set up for the house's wifi and does connect.  The annoying thing for me is that it seems to keep dropping out of wi fi.  Sometimes it recognizes it within seconds of turning on my phone & other times I need to go into settings, shut off wifi, turn it on again and hope it recongnizes the wifi.  I have no problem with my Apple computer, and no one else in the household has this difficulty, some Apple products, others  not.   I find this frustrating because I never had this problem with my older 3GS phone.  I'm sorry I took the $0.99 upgrade to the iPhone 4.  Should have left well enough alone!!!  Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

IPad dropping WiFi every few seconds after updating iOs to version 5.x
I have the same problem with my iPad 2. It was working fine when my iOS was v.4.3.3. After updating the iOs to version 5.0.1, I kept dropping my WiFi & Internet signal. I am using WPA2, and my SSID is OFF (does not broadcast).
To solve the problem, I updated iOs to v5.1. Same problem occurred. I tried using the OpenDNS as suggested.. Did not work too. WiFi stays on for 5-10 seconds before saying signal was lost. Tried to log on again - iPad replied that I cannot join the network. Tried soft & hard reset, forgetting network settings, resetting all network Setting, etc - still nothing works.
Finally, out of frustration, I turned ON my router's SSID (broadcasting openly). Guess what? My iPad WiFi is working perfectly without any dropped connection.
Please try this quick solution. It may just fix your problems. I realized that this solution may be effective for some iPad users out there.  But there is a chance it may not work with others (I tried almost all suggestions in other forums - ranging from updating the wireless router firmware, using an OpenDNS, doing a soft & hard reset of the iPad, etc. Still, nothing worked for my iPad - except this simple SSID setting). Hopefully, this additional solution might help someone. Good luck :-)

  • WiFi on iPhone 5S 7.0.6 keeps dropping WiFi then not reconnecting

This is my third iPhone, had a 3GS, 4S and now this 5S. While I love my iPhone it is always dropping my WiFi connection at home. I have a Retina Macbook Pro which has zero problems, there's also two 4S's, a 5C and three iPads all connecting no problem. Well the iPad Mini has now started having problems recently.
I find my connection has dropped and now is on very slow cellular. I go to WiFi in settings and click on my home network (extremely fast fibre). When I click on it the iPhone asks for my WiFi password. So I enter my password for the hundredth time and it just doesn't connect.
I have to spend ages turning my iPhone and router off and on again. This has been going on since I got the phone in December.
I am a seriously unhappy customer here Apple, I've spent thousands of pounds on your products and this is unacceptable, feels like a downgrade compared to my 4S which never set a foot wrong. I imagine it's related to iOS 7 than the hardware.
I have seen others have had this issue and want an answer, I'm really hope iOS 7.1 fixes this, there's so many little bugs and inconsistancies with this OS, feels unpolished.

Same problem with iPad3 wifi+cellular. Since iOs 7.0.6 the wifi on the device became unusable. Immediately after implementing this crap update, wifi connection keeps dropping in every 2 minutes.  I tried to reset the device twice, even restore network settings, but doesn't help. All other devices have the same stable connection at home, than before. The problem is the IOS 7.0.6 update! This is ridiculous! Quality is significantly dropped since ios 5.1.1. The head of this developer department must be fired out! Now I cannot use my wifi at all!

  • Connection keeps dropping and speed is getting slo...

    Hi,
I have had infinity over a week now and after having a speed of 50M and a ping of 17 each day it has dropped and is now iro 34M and ping of 37.  What is of more concern is my connection is keeps dropping.  Has happened every day - DSL light going off on Infinity box and homehub.  I did a speed check on BT wholesale and it seems my ip profile has been dropped down to 36M.
I am connecting wireless and have tried a different channels, tried using DNS even tried a new HH3 as I had a spare.  But as yet no improvement.  Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

You could have a fault, to check do the following.
    1. Visit this link https://www.bt.com/consumerFaultTracking/secure/faults/tracking.do;jsessionid=2W59QB2TvDGLZST41KJS2T...
    2. Make an account with your BT Account number, this is different to your forum account.
    3. Once the account is created re-visit the link from instruction #1 and login
    4. Now you want to click on "Check my line now"
    5. You should see your telephone number in a box, make sure that box is ticked if not enter your number.
    6. Click on "Check my line" once step 5 has been completed
    7. Make sure the details are correct, select the most relavant problem to you. I find the most common is the top selection "I've removed all equipment...."
    8. Finally, Click "Check my line" **MAKE SURE NO ONE IS USING THE PHONE** Once completed, post the results contact a mod if a fault is found.

  • Internet connection keeps dropping at night

I'm having a bit of a weird problem with my internet connection. I connect via an ethernet cable and the connection keeps dropping. It generally starts after 7pm and seems to be every 40 minutes. I have changed the microfilters and ethernet cable but I'm still getting this problem. The really weird thing is that all four lights on the hub are blue but the computer cannot connect to the router. Sometimes the connection will just drop other times it will say limited connection. I've finally had to resort to windows diagnostics and sometimes even that doesn't work. I swapped my black hub with the old white one and  I didn't have this problem of the connection dropping but my connection speed dropped to 1.5 - 2mb.
I was thinking maybe there was something wrong with my ethernet card but now I think it must be something in the black hub because the white one worked. Am I correct in thinking I need a new router?

  • ASA 5505 Site to Site VPN keep dropping

    Hi all,
I have an issue with my site to site VPN.
I have 4 sites connected  to my main HQ site via Cisco ASAs 5505 firewalls. The problem is that once and then the sites disconnected from my main site. This disconnection is not happening at the same time for the the 4 sites. For example, it might be different site each time disconnected.
Could you please advice any suggestions. Let me know if you want to post the firewall's configurations.
    Thank you for your time
