SSID, Password, KEY ???
I recently had Firedog install a wireless Linksys router WRT54G for my home computer(sony laptop). When setting it up he asked me to come up with a UserID(which i did), and then a password(which I did). Once he was completed he left me a piece of paper with these 2 things written down and also had a "Key" number written down with a note that said "you will need to insert the key in order to gain internet access". Now my question is when i try and get on to my routers set up page and even try to do port forwarding, i get to the userid and password screen and every combination of these 3 things(SSID, Password, and/or KEY) doesn't seem to work and i finally get the ol' 401 error. I downloaded PCCONFIG from Portforward.com in order to have the port forwarded using a program because i'm not at a high level when it comes to computers. Once i do everything, of course i get an error when it asks for my userid and password. Any ideas on what i should do? Thanks so much!!!!

Key stands for ur wireless network key -password . which u need to enter while connecting ur wireless connection on computer to router.
as far as the password is concerned , dat maybe of routers.
though u don know ur username either .
the only solution at the moment is , to reset ur router to factory default settings.
how to reset?
push the small button on the back of the router ,known as reset button.
for 30 seconds.
den release , unplug the power cable , plug in the power cable for router after 30 seconds.
den ur router password will default to admin , and u can access it
and re configure ur router.
hope it gonna help u .

they key icon is no longer where it should be in order to save and remember passwords. cant find it anywhere
There is no Password key icon in Firefox Navigation Toolbar items. You must be using some add-on in which case the icon might be on the Add-on Bar
What is the Add-on Bar?

You can Customize the Add-on Bar to Drag/Drop your Password icon on the Navigation Toolbar

How do I change FiOS router's SSID & password?
FiOS installed today. Default SSID & password too cumbersome. How do I change? Thanks.

Well, you just log into the router and you change them
The actual procedure depends on which router you have, the Actiontec or the Westel. I have an Actiontec, the basic procedure would be:
1) Access the router with your browser: 192.168.1.1
2) Log into the router: User Name = admin and password = password1 (this is the usual value the Verizon Tech sets. If this doesn't work you probably need to hold the reset button on the back of the router to set it back to the default, then the name will still be admin but the password will be password)
3) On the initial page after login there is an option to change the name and password in the lower left of the screen.
4) To change the SSID, click on the Wireless Settings box near the top of the screen, then Basic Security Settings on the left side, change the SSID, then scroll down and click Apply.
I don't know the procedure for the Westel router.
While you are at it, I highly recommend you consider changing from WEP encryption to at least WPA - stronger encryption, less likely to be broken, although WPA is not totally secure by any means.
I hope you enjoy FiOS TV, I do.

Can I change the access password / key? It is so long and not easy for visitors to use and connect to wifi
Agreed about predefined WiFi key. You will find it in clear and capable of being changed under Advanced Settings / Wireless Settings / WPA.

Numeric password keys not working on my iphone 4s
The numeric password keys are not registering correctly on my iPhone 4s...has anyone else had this issue?
Basic troubleshooting steps right out of the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If you've been through ALL the steps and you still have the problem, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.

Using iPhone/iPad Recovery Mode

Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

Been given the wrong SSID/wireless key information...
Hi there.
On Wednesday I had BT infinity installed and everything started working straight away, all blue lights etc. however the network SSID that I had been given didn't match any on the wifi networks on my laptop/iPad etc. I've set up a wired connection and that's working fantastically, but no wifi. Been on the phone numerous times and BT have said, firstly that the order had not been processed, then earlier today that they didn't know what the issue was so they would send me a new hub.
During the call today I asked whether it would be a possibility that maybe I had been given the wrong information, as I thought I'd noticed a new BT SSID pop up (I live in flats so there are numerous connections), but it didn't match mine. I was told that this wouldn't be the case.
Half an hour ago I decided to switch off the hub and see if that new SSID would disappear. It disappeared. Switched the hub back on, and yup, it appeared. So this new SSID is obviously mine.
Phoned but BT and tried to change my password via the BT Home Hun Manager but the admin password that I have been given is of course incorrect so I can't do that. They've said all that they can do is send out a new hub.
Surely there's a way of retrieving the wireless key without waiting for a new hub?! It's ridiculous to think they don't have that information stored or there's another way of finding it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My hub is due to be delivered and Sod's law is the day I have to do training rather than work my usual night shift so it means it could be weeks before I get my new hub.Now that aint right!
Sounds like the labels have been stuck on to the wrong hub.
And there's at least 1 other hub out there in BT land that's wrong too, or more.....
I've not found or read a way to crack the admin password, so you're stuck till it can be replaced
(And I was just checking, others have got it wrong in the past!)

Entering a "$" in the SSID password when setting up an HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer
Hello,
I have a Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer, and I am trying to set it up wirelessly. However, my SSID as a "$" in the password, and I can't find any way to enter this symbol in the wireless setup on the printer. Also, when I try to run the HP Printer setup wizard I downloaded from the HP support site, it says this printer is not supported by the wizard?
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
jmmain1You must change your wireless password in the router to not conntain any special characters. Once done, go back and input the password in the printer.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

On each connection the password field will go missing from registry config which

You can use Group Policy Preferences to push the registry keys

Here's an nice article with snapshots on usage of Group Policy Preferences to configure registry item

the article is irrelevant, use the method to configure/push desired registry item)

Hi Everyone,
I posted a similiar topic, but lost my thread for it.
I have numerous Iphone 4S's at my work and a few of them were upgraded to IO6. I work in IT so i thought i'd give it a test and couple of staff also upgraded to IOS6.
I have a Netgear WG102
Firmware: 5.03 is the latest
WEP Security
Network Authentication: OPEN
Broadcast SSID: Yes
Data Encryption 64bits WEP
Wireless Client Security Separation Disabled
Operating Mode: Auto - 8020.11g/802.11b
Data Rate Best
Output Power full
Country Australai
IP Address, Subnet, gateway and DNS addreses applied acdordingly
The FEW who have upgraded to IOS 6 are unable to connect to my WAP including myself.
I have tried Backup/Restore Iphone 4s
RESET Network Settings
Selected FORGET this network and attempted to reconnect, still doesnt accept the key
Tried to Manually select the WAP and manually apply the config details as opposed to automatically accepting details when it accepts the key
I have recreated the same ABOVE config profile on the WAP device, just a different key and no success.
i have also taken the Iphone4s of mine to the Australian, CBD, George St Apple store where they wiped the phone. We got the phone back to factory, connected it to "THEIR" WiFi. The answer i got from the Manager at the time was "If it works here, there's no fault with the phone"
I still have the majority of my staff using IOS5 which im not permitting them up upgrade for the above reason
I was suspecting FIRMWARE versions being different upon upgrading to IOS6
I found Modem Firmware: 04.12.02 or higher seemed to have no problems connecting to my WAP, if it was lower then the phones werent connectning.
Im reading on other posts people are suspecting DNS, Wireless Config setup.
I have created a SSID with NONE security to connect and still says Unable to Join the network
Tried WPA-PSK
Tried WPA2-PSK : AES Encryption
Tried WPA-PSK & WPA2-PSK with TKIP + AES Encryption
Added MAC Address of my Iphone to be TRUSTED
I enabled Super-G Mode for proprietary support of 820.11g
I can confirm the two Iphone 4S's i have problems with at the moment were "Problem FREE"
At this point the only thing i havent done it downgraded Firmware of the device
Message was edited by: Shannon.RobertsHi Matt,
Im from Sydney Australia, that version i dont think is an option how the below is for me
WG102 Firmware Version 5.0.3 (All regions except North America)
The above is what i have, however the below is the next one down
WG102 Firmware Version 5.0.1 (All regions except North America)
How far of a FIRMWARE downgrade did you go for yours ?
Hoping i can try this with one pot shot instead of different firmware trials

My system password has a keystroke using the option key (like one would use the shift key to type a capital letter). I've just tried to install some new software, and when it asks for the administrator password, the dialog box does not recognize/allow that combination of keystrokes. When I try to go into Accounts section of System Preferences to change my password, it also does not recognize the keystrokes, although when I log in from the Login window, everything works fine. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to remedy? Thanks.
The option-keyed character may not be recognized by the system properly; try using your computer's original disks to reset it.
