SSL certificate - new blackberry classic

Hi,
I'm new to the BB 10 software always had the old blackberries and BB ID with no problem. Now that I'm trying to set up my work email address (Microsoft Echnage Actve Sync) on my new blackberry classic black it it keeps coming back with an SSL error message. After speaking to our IT people they suggested I buy an SSL Cerficate and that should sort the problem but I'm wongeridg if it would be done without that? Please could someone help me with this?
Thanks,
Monaletta

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

  • New BlackBerry Classic TrackPad

    Hello everyone!
I have a trouble with my new BlackBerry Classic.
My old phone is a Blacjìkberrry bold 9900 and the trackboard (the central button) of it is backlit, instead in my new phone all the button in the keyboard are backlit while the trackpad is not backlit. is it a problem of the phone?Or it is was thought in this way?
thanks in advance for the help.

it seems like the trackpad was an after thought, it really serves little purpose as most of the apps require touchscreen anyway, even the native ones. I like on my Bold 9900 that the trackpad is the last light to fade when going to sleep, now BlackBerry cannot be bothered to illuminate it at all???

  • Getting Started with the BlackBerry Classic

Reposted from the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
Whether you are new or experienced with BlackBerry 10, here’s a quick guide to get you started with the BlackBerry Classic!
Step 1 – Insert your SIM and media card
The first step you’ll want to take after unboxing your new BlackBerry Classic is inserting your nano SIM card and media card. When you have your nano SIM and media card (optional) handy, use the tool that is provided in the BlackBerry Classic box to open the SIM card tray.
To do this, push the tip of the tool, or a paperclip, into the hole that is to the left of SIM on the side of your device. Doing so pops the tray out at which point you can pull it all the way out.
After doing this, with the metal contacts of your nano SIM card facing away from you, place the nano SIM into the tray, then push the tray into the slot. Repeat these steps to insert your media card by inserting the tool, or a paperclip, in the hole to the right of SD along the left side of your device.
Tip: If you don’t have the right SIM card please contact your service provider and ask them for help switching to a nano SIM card. Please avoid using a larger SIM card that has been cut to a smaller size as this may cause your device to not recognize the SIM card. Using a modified SIM card may also result in it getting stuck since the modified SIM card may be thicker than the required nano SIM card. When you have finished inserting your nano SIM and media card the next step is completing the BlackBerry Classic setup wizard.
Step 2 – Complete the set up wizard
If you haven’t already, turn on your BlackBerry Classic by pressing and holding the power button on the top of your device so you can complete the setup process. This process guides you through connecting to a Wi-Fi network, setting up a new BlackBerry ID, or signing into your existing BlackBerry ID, as well as showing you several fundamental gestures.
Tip: If you don’t have a BlackBerry ID you’ll be able to create one during the setup process and, in the event you don’t remember your BlackBerry ID password, use the Forgot Password option to reset your BlackBerry ID password. Don’t forgot to confirm your BlackBerry ID, which can help you recover your password in case you ever forget it!
When you have finished the setup wizard, the new and improved Setup app will open automatically.
Within this app you’ll be able to complete the following actions that will help you learn more about your new device and customize everything just the way you like
Find out what’s different about BlackBerry 10
Understand the various gestures used throughout your device
Add your email and social networking accounts
Transfer data from your previous device (See step 3 to learn more!)
    Customize your device notifications
Setup BBM so you can connect with family and friends
    Set a device password
    And more!
When you have finished going through the various options within the Setup App, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to minimize it. You can always access the Setup app in the future by tapping on the Setup icon as well.
Step 3 – Transfer data from your previous device
If you are switching from another device, whether it be BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Android or iPhone, there are several different methods you can use to help transfer data to your new device.
For a visual overview, check out the following videos that guide you through this process. The Setup app on your BlackBerry Classic can also help you do this, just open the Setup app, tap Switching Devices and follow the provided steps.
Android device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
BlackBerry OS smartphone to BlacKBerry 10 smartphone
iOS device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
If you encounter any issues transferring your data, or would like some guidance, stop by the Device Switch board within the BlackBerry Support Community Forums and ask the community.
If you switch from another device don’t forget to perform a security wipe on your old device to remove your personal information. If your previous device was a BlackBerry device, check out our post on how to perform a security wipe.
If you use a different type of device, review the user documentation to learn how to reset it to factory settings and remove your personal information.
Step 4 – Secure your new device and turn on BlackBerry Protect
If you haven’t already set a device password, I cannot stress enough how important this is. Doing so can help prevent unwanted access if you leave your device unattended and, in the event you misplace your device, no one will be able to view your personal information. To set a device password, complete the following steps:
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
Tap Settings followed by Security and Privacy
    Tap Device Password
Set the Device Password switch to On
    Enter your desired password twice
After setting a device password make sure you verify that BlackBerry Protect is enabled on your device by going to Settings followed by BlackBerry Protect.
When enabled, BlackBerry Protect can help you locate, lock, or wipe your device where you are, provided your device is connected to the mobile or Wi-Fi network. To learn more about BlackBerry Protect go to http://protect.blackberry.com.
Step 5 – Where to learn more and find help
The easiest way to learn more about your new BlackBerry Classic is by opening the Help app, which contains a lot of useful information ranging from tips and tricks to how-to overviews. You can also view, download, or save the user guide for your device by visiting http://docs.blackberry.com.
I would also recommend reviewing BlackBerry Classic how-to demo videos that show the various features and functions offered by your device. These demos can be viewed on your device, computer, or tablet. Several BlackBerry Training courses are also available – make sure you try these out on your computer, or device to learn more about the BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1.

Another great way to learn more is by taking the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, which you can find within BlackBerry World. This app offers short quizzes that can help you learn more about your device and it only takes a few minutes to complete each test – it’s the perfect coffee break companion!
To get the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, open BlackBerry World and search for it or click here. Another great resource to learn more about your device, beyond this blog of course, is the BlackBerry Classic support site located at http://www.blackberry.com/classicsupport

  • Problem Blackberry ID with BlackBerry Classic

    Hi everyone,
I have a New BlackBerry Classic and i cant confirm My BlackBerry ID on my Phone. The login via web is not a Problem. So my Device does not send me a email confirmation. If i Type my correct password in to the Phone, it does not react. Any ideas?

    Hi bpm
For the time being you're lucky that you're able to enter the password , But believe me if your BlackBerry ID Email or the Username is not valid then you will face more major problem in the future .So it will be better to change it and use a vaild email which you can access anytime from your PC browser , also avoid using Host email as your BlackBerry ID , you can use any free email account like Gmail or yahoo.
    bpm wrote:
I was wondering how do I switch my blackberry ID account and I'm concerned I will have to resetup my email accounts.
Yes you have to resetup your email using a vaild email address Or you can use the same but correct email that you used earlier. If you want to do that then first do a backup of your device , for help refer to this Article : How To Backup Your BlackBerry .Once you have your Backup follow this Knowledge Base to Change your BlackBerry ID .

  • Blackberry Classic email font size??

I just got my new Blackberry Classic and can't find any way to increase the size of my emails permanently!!  I can barely read my emails becuase the font size is incredibly small!!  I can adjust the size by zooming on the screen, but as soon as I open another email, the size resets back to be tiny.
I was waiting to get the Classic since it was first announced last July!! but now I'm very close to completely ditching Blackberry and moving to Android!!  HELP!!  If the default Email app can't do it, is there another Emaill App that can?

    Hi cturco,
You can adjust the font size in Settings/Display/Font Size.  But that adjusts the font size for everything, not just the e-mails.  If you can 'barely read' your e-mails chances are you will find adjusting the font size for everything helpful?
Separately, you can adjust the font size when composing an outgoing e-mail by tapping on Format and then Aa.  You then have an option to choose Smaller, Normal or Larger.
    Hope that helps?  Good luck!

  • Does Blackberry Classic requires any BES?

    Hello!
My company is using Blackberry Enterprise Service at the moment.
we want to stop using this server, due to the upgrade costs, but we would like to remain with blackberry devices and, mainly, to buy new blackberry classic devices.
Is it it mandatory to have the BES to access our e-mails of Microsoft Exchange server through the Blackberry Classic?
Or can it work like any Android and iOS device and access them directly (without the BES)?
    All help is appreciated!
    Thank you!

You can use Active sync but you can only wipe whole device or get BES 12 whch can remove work side only.

  • How to install Mobile Office on my Blackberry Classic?

I have a licence for Office 365 to be able to install it on another mobile device and would like to install it on my new Blackberry Classic, instead of the 'docs to go' that comes with it.  I had downloaded the SNAP app, so that I could access android apps and when I followed the installation instructions from the Google Play store on my BB, it said it was "installed", but it does not appear as an icon anywhere?   What do I do?

I have not tested this myself, but there is a good chance that this does not work.
Microsoft Mobile Office is not officially available for Blackberry devices. While with Snap you can unofficially download Android apps to your Blackberry, there is no guarantee that they will work.
While Mobile Office makes much sense on tablets, I doubt it is a good experience on a mobile phone. Or have you used it on an Android phone yet? I guess the screen is just too small to do any big editing jobs.

Official BlackBerry Classic - Navigation Keys
When you purchase a smartphone for productivity, you want it to be familiar, easy to use and – of course – a powerhouse. These elements are what have, historically, been strengths for BlackBerry and after hearing specific customer feedback, are what John Chen has promised to deliver with the new BlackBerry Classic.
I’ve already managed to get my hands on a BlackBerry Classic and wanted to provide you dedicated Inside BlackBerry readers out there with a special early look at the device.
If you’ve used a BlackBerry Bold 9900 or even a BlackBerry Curve in the past, you’ll be delighted to find the navigation keys are back. This brings back a familiar element to enjoy alongside the powerful BlackBerry 10 software , allowing you to focus on what you do best. . . running the world (or your world, at least).

  • Miracast on BlackBerry Classic (10.3.1.1565) not working

    Hi guys,
got my new BlackBerry Classic (OS 10.3.1.1565) next to the older Q10 (10.2.1.3062) lying on the table next to each other and whereas on Q10 the Miracast connection with the home theater (Sony BDV-N5200W) works flawlessly, the Classic in unable to connect and share the screen (Settings -> Wi-Fi - Miracast -> Share Screen). On the Sony's part the screen mirroring feature is enabled and active. As said, Q10 connects almost immediately, Classic tries to connect only to fail at the end. Any suggestions?
    Many thanks,

  • USB Device not recognized Blackberry Classic

I'm trying to connect my new blackberry classic to PC using USB cable. The PC is a laptop with windows 7 64bit. I tried all USB ports available on PC and I tried to install it on another PC with Windows XP. In both PC i get USB Device not recognized error and Blackberry Link cannot connect to smartphone. I need to connect in order to move all contacts from old blackberry to new blackberry. The BB software versions are the following:
    - Link version 1.2.4.27
    - Blackberry device manager 8.0.0.55
    - bbDevMgr 4.2.0.52
    -Drive USB RIM 4.2.0.32
    - Serial Usb RIM Driver 2.3.0.11
Previously i had installed Blackberry desktop software for OS 7. Before installing the new version, in the last trial i uninstall all software from RIM and cleaned manually the registry.
From what i can understand, there is perhaps a problem with 32/64 bit system driver.
Without a solution to move the contacts and messages from old BB I will change the phone to another version/supplier. I spent already more than 1 day trying to do this...
    Thanks for the support

I have Windows Mobile 6.0 on my Treo 750, Windows Mobile Device Center on my laptop (Vista OS), and Outlook 2003. When sync is established there is no problem with Outlook 2003, but there is a problem with recognizing Treo by my laptop. Also (probably) there is a problem with the connection cord (I have to move slightly USB couple of times inside a port in term to start connection)… It’s a minor but annoying problem.

  • Renew SSL Certificate for for two Exchange 2010 Server and the new rules.

I find DigitCert's website always helpful with cert questions. They've got a pretty helpful page here: https://www.digicert.com/internal-names.htmIt looks like they've got a tool for Exchange, but I've not used it myself, so can't say if it works or how well: https://www.digicert.com/internal-domain-name-tool.htmI bet Microsoft have something on their website too that helps with this sort of question.I'd say you register a completely new domain and use that for public facing and internal servers. Or you could just create a sub domain of an existing one, i.e. subdomain.mydomain.com and use that, i.e. public_exchange.subdomain.mydomain.com and internal_exchange.subdomain.mydomain.com.

    Hi there ,
My exchange 2010 Server Certificate is about to expire and i am going to renew it but according to the new rules for SSL Certificate Issuing we can not include our Local Servers Names and Local FQDN such as myserver.contoso.local, my issue is that i have 2 exchange servers one is internet-facing Server (where the certificate is initiated and installed) and one is non-internet-facing Exchange server.
if i am going to renew my certificate with public only name, I have to create a split Domain that reflects my external links to the internal Users, what shall i do for the non-internet-facing server? do i need to create another record in my split DNS Server and add it to my Certificate Request ?

  • How to move SSL certificates to a new machine

    Hi,
we are moving our SL Server to a new machine, keeping the previous IP and DNS name.
We had obtained a SSL certificate for the old server.
We want to move the certificate to the new machine, since the name and IP is the same.
However when we try to replace the self-signed certificate installed in the new machine with the certificate we bought for the old machine we get an error message saying that the certificate does not match the "private key".
Is it possible to move a certificate from a server to a new one?

    UptimeJeff wrote:
Look in the old machine in /etc/certificates
    Grab the key and cert.
On the new machine, import the pair (hit Plus, then Import a Certificate Identity)
There are some reasons it may not go that smoothly.. but certainly try the above first.
    Thanks a lot.
I tried what you suggested but at the import stage in the new server Server Admin asked for the passphrase used to protect the private key.
I had no idea of the passphrase but then, checking the Advanced Server Administration Manual I found this information:
When certificates and keys are imported via Certificate Manager, they are put in the /etc/certificates/ directory.
After they are imported, Certificate Manager encrypts the files with a random passphrase. It puts the passphrase in the System keychain, and puts the resulting PEM files in /etc/certificates/.
So I checked the System Keychain in the original server and managed to get the random passphrase and used it to import the files into the new server.
It looks as if everything is OK now.
