SSL email on Dreamhost hosted domain?

Has anyone gotten SSL email to work on a Dreamhost hosted domain?
I keep getting the infamous SSL clock error that has nothing to do with the clock.  I am not running Exchange Server and I have loaded the cert for *.mail.dreamhost.com onto my pre to no avail.
Obviously my email domain is not the same as the cert domain, and this appears to be the root of the problem.  Using the dreamhost addressed mail servers or my own domain mail servers makes no difference.  I can receive and send via ports 110 and 25 only on the Pre.  SSL ports work fine on the PC.
Thanks,
-K

I just got this working today.
It seems like you're most of the way there, since you've already installed Dreamhost's certificate (I'm leaving a link to Dreamhost's support wiki about this for anyone that may follow:  http://wiki.dreamhost.com/NDN_Certificate).
You've likely also seen Dreamhost's posting regarding the 'Certificate Domain Mismatch Error' (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Certificate_Domain_Mismatch_Error). I tried a few things here, but the crucial step was to find out which Dreamhost mail server my domain uses. I found that information by logging on to my Dreamhost web panel and going to Mail > Custom MX/Gmail. Scrolling all the way down showed me something that looked like this:
Dreamhost MX Records
mx1.balanced.frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
mx2.balanced.frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
Your information may end up looking a little different, as Dreamhost uses several different server names that may stand in for 'frisky' above.
So, for my incoming and outgoing mailserver, I entered:
frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
And everything started working from there. I tested send and receive several times, and I've been getting mail all day.
I'm using SSL on port 993 for incoming mail, and TLS on port 587 for outgoing (yeah, it's odd, but it works, so I'm not going to mess with it).
Good Luck!

  • Z10 faulty code BUG - emails may not be sent/released if you have a hosted domain with email accounts

let me preface this by saying I have been a loyal blackberry user, screaming from my soapbox about blackberry for many many years and that I am not a techie and really wish blackberry all the best.
however, today my blackberry faith has been completely crushed and i don't want anyone to go through this pain.
I just confirmed  that the z10 in it's current OS and the way in which email is formatted does not meet certain code requirements CRLF RFC ??  As such any emails routed through to a hosting provider will likely be blocked from leaving their servers. It has to do with headers, date stamps and formatting of the emails as read by spam blockers as they apprear from the blackberry OS
what happened to me is that emails showed as sent, and then i was wondering why i never head back from clients. Bingo. they never got it.
After extensive phone calls, testing accounts with BB, hosting domain and Rogers, it became clear this was a z10 issue.
So any small business owners that use large hosting providers that have strict spam and code requirements BEWARE. In all liklihood you will experience great difficulties in emailing anyone (read they won't get them).
    Gmail and hotmail work fine.
Before you mention them...STMP and SSL and ports do not make a difference in my case. This has been confirmed. Trust me.
Is it a nice device? Yes.  Does it have potential? yes.  Does it meet my  most basic email needs? NO
to top it all off, i just extended my contract to get this phone. If I'm lucky, from the sounds of it, it might work after two future OS updates.
I am flabbergasted by this huge oversight and really do wish blackberry well, but if this doesn't get fixed when they get U.S. customers...I think they are going to be TORN apart.
    Blackberry are you listening?
Feel free to send me some sort of love or compensation for my previous years of devout loyalty, my being trapped in a contract in your name and for bringing this issue to your attention.
    signed
heart broken with a shiny new useless z10 which apparently can't return now.

Hi there, so when I was speaking with bb I was told that this fix would not make it into the update.  I have no reason to believe that this issue is resolved as the update rolled out shortly after my lengthy discussion so by then I assume the update was already with the carriers for review.
Perhaps you can raise this issue with them again and give them a test account to see what they can do. I know how much this sucks and this needs to be escalated continuously to make it into the next updates.
Also see if your hosting provider can help by whitelisting your domain and turn off spam blockers.
    Wish you well

  • How do you host a domain and several email addresses from that domain with OS X Server?

Right now I have a domain name through GoDaddy.com and one email address to that domain...we will have about 5-8 in total...How do I setup OS X Server to host our own domain (without using GoDaddy) and setup our own mail server?

There are several steps that you would need to do.
Set up OS X Server with mail services and users. Also, you may have to have your OS X mail server relay messages through your ISP so you can email people at other domains.
Set up firewall/router to forward IMAP/POP and SMTP ports from your external IP address to your server (which is either in the DMZ of the firewall or on LAN).
Set up DNS records so your domain name points to your server (and if you do not have a static IP address, you will need to set up dynamic DNS). At a minimum you will need 2 DNS records: an A (or AAAA for IPv6) record for the server (I think it can be the root of the zone) and a MX (mail exchange) record.
If everything is set up correctly, you should have a mail server hosting on your domain with your server.
Those would be the major steps you would need to complete. Details on the exact procedure for each of these steps can be found reading the OS X Server documentation, documentation for your router/firewall for port forwarding/NAT, and your specific DNS service.

  • Illegal host/domain name found - emails bouncing;

After using PhotoStream to post a picture on Facebook, my email asked me to confirm a password, which I've never had to do before. Now I can't send or receive email on the MacBook me.com account b/c an "illegal host/domain" message returns with the email. I don't know if I should be using the iCloud or my previous incoming mail server as the main server. Something changed after the PhotoStream attempt to connect the devices (iPhone and MacBook).
Anyone have any ideas? I read other posts, but didn't see the resolution.

I can now get emails to go OUT from my MacBook, but I can't receive them. Can get them just fine on the iPhone -- confusing!

  • Gmail, Hosted Domain, emails disappear

I use Gmail to Host a Domain, we use POP. I only expect mail to go to the pre when my computer is not on. However, the email goes to the pre, shows up in the alert then disappears. I have checked all the settings and they are correct. Is ther something special that needs to be done for hosted domains on Gmail. It appears that the Pre is attempting to sync like Imap, and that removes the messages....Help any one.

  • HT1277 how do I delete an 'illegal host domain'?????

When I sen a e-mail from  my me.com or mac.com accounts it bounces back to me with a header made of of a stiring of numbers and letters and a @me.com or @mac.com at the end... and 'illegal host domain found'... How can I get thei sto stop or deletit or expnd=ge it.. it just started about 4 days ago!  thanks for any help. Judi Dunn

Have you setup/changed to iCloud for eMail yet?
    MobileMe no longer exists.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • How can I make a email at my muse domain

I just wanted to know how to make an email at my own domain so that i don't have to subscribe to something like godaddy.

    Using Adobe Hosting :
    - You would need to upgrade site plan to web basic+ which includes email service.
    - After adding domain , you can create email records which would be on default domain added to site.
    Using external hosting :
    - If your hosting provides email service then you can create email records on your domain
    - Or use third party email service.
Email account creation is done on hosting platform wherever you are hosting your site.
    Thanks,

  • Lots of hosted domains

If I'm reading the documentation correctly, in order to support hosted domains (where the user's JID is [email protected] and the connect server is connect.domain.org) I have to install a server instance for each sub.domain.org.
We have over 400 domains, and this seems a bit cumbersome (I'm thinking that I will have to write a script that searches LDAP for new domains and creates an IM instance.) Is there any plan to allow this to be configured in LDAP?
Is there anything I can change in iim.conf to skirt this process? Perhaps change the 'loginfilter' and 'useruidattr' settings?

    Hi,
IM server supports multiple domains out of the box only when the deployment makes use of Access Manager as the backend.
But it is always possible to write custom Realm's which implement the functionality required by making use of the com.sun.im.provider.* api.
    (Like com.sun.im.provider.MultiDomainRealm, etc).
If it is not using Identity server as the backend, and if you want to leverage the bundled Realm (*) implementations - then you would need to set up different deployments each for a single domain with the appropriate searchbase configured ...
(*) Bundled Realm's are : A single searchbase based ldap tree, Access Manager based Realm (so nested/multiple trees).

  • How to make push work with a google hosted domain?

I can find no instructions on it through google, i've posted through google groups and gotten no answer. Using the instructions to setup google as exchange works great for my personal mail but it doesn't work for my hosted domain simply by substituting my hosted domain email. The only way I can get my hosted domain to work is by setting it up as a regular gmail account. The phone only allows one exchange push account and I would much rather have my hosted domain (work) as the push account and hte personal as the one that refreshes every 15 minutes.
how can I get this to work?
    Thanks.

The Sony Ericsson W580i is supported using an iSync Plugin from here.
Be careful that you choose the correct phone, as you wrote W580i in your subject, but W850i in your message!

  • Not receiving emails from one specific domain

    Hi,
I'm having problems with not receiving emails from one specific domain @youmail.dk. It hasn't been an issue earlier, but I stopped receiving the emails late last year. For all I know this is the only domain there's a problem with - I don't have any problems with any other random domain.
There is no rules or anything like that set up, so I have no idea what the problem could be... There's no "failure to deliver" notification send to the sender either.
It doesn't matter if I check iCloud online, on my MacBook or iPhone...
    Can anyone help me?
    Nina.

Comcast Security Assurance manages email system security and should be able to help you with this. Call them at 1-888-565-4329 (from http://constantguard.comcast.net/dedicated-support/). They will probably want to know the IP address(es) and/or host name(s) of the sending email server(s).
The first-line reps at CSA are sometimes not so helpful. If so, be persistent, and keep at them until you get a satisfactory answer.

  • Send email for a given domain over VPN

    Hi all,
I have an IPSec site-to-site VPN working between 2 end-points.
Is it possible to send emails destined to the domain @mycompany.com over the VPN?
Normally, the mail server will try to resolve the domain name and end up with a public IP for the destination SMTP server.
Any idea how this can be implemented on the server and on the router?
    Thanks for any help.

Let's say the local mail server finds that the remote mail server addresses for domain @mycompany.com are mail1.mycompany.com and mail2.mycompany.com.
Should I modify the hosts file on the local mail server so that mail1.mycompany.com points to, for e.g., 192.168.200.1 and mail2.mycompany.com points to 192.168.200.2?
