SSL errors connecting to secure sites

<blockquote>Locking thread.<br>

I had earlier posted a query on a problem connecting to https sites. refreshing the network card parameters seems to have solved the problem.
But again the problem has resurfaced and I am getting frequent error " SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code.
(Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_read) "
It is becoming very irritating since it is preventing me to access most of the https site including gmail. The most frustrating part is that the occurrence is not predictable. When the error comes and I click ok, the page is resubmitted and many of the times the page is loaded properly. The problem again occurs when I want to proceed to the next page.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

I've removed the solved status from this thread as you still seem to have this problem.
Are you using a direct connection or a proxy?<br />
Do you have a router or security software (firewall) that might cause this problem?<br />
Do you have problems with other secure https connections?

  • High Latency in WoW PArticularly and SLOW connections to secure sites.....

...so what's really weird about this is that if I use my linksys wireless n mode/router i get very low latency in WoW and secure sites like online banking sites are really quick.
My TC is plugged into a straight up wired only DSL Modem/router set to PPP IP bridge so that my TC has a real IP address and is straight on the internet. then my computers all connect to the tC which is running NAT and DHCP.

    Hi Dottz
Do you notice any issues when playing any other games?
This still could be an underlying connection issue with your connection that is causing this, I can have it looked into for you just drop me an email using the contact us address in my profile. You can copy this address from the section 'about me'.

  • Safari stops connecting to secure sites

My son is using Panther 10.3.9 and in Philadelphia using ComCast cable internet services. Everything was ok about a week ago... and he has done no security updates since. He is now unable to connect to secure websites for banking, etc. using Safari 1.3.2. He was recently able to do this with no problem.
Also, when he try tries to use Mail to get his email, he gets a message that says something like "unable to establish secure connection... this may not be the server you are intending to contact." There was no problem up to a week ago.
He's checked his Keychain passwords, etc. and used AppleJack to clear caches, but nothing's worked.
Suggestions would be appreciated. - Thanks
    1.25 GHz iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

After much searching and reading, I have found an approach that solved this problem and another problem I was having connecting to the iTunes store.
It appears to be a problem for people running Mac OS 10.3.9.
    The solution is to:
    1. Open Finder
    2. Choose your Hard Drive
    3. Find the folder called Keychains in the Library folder of your hard drive
    4. Drag this Keychains folder to your Trash
    5. Restart computer.
I found this solution in a post by Swooz in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=787244&#787244
Prior to trying this I did all the Keychain and Disk repair things that had been suggested, to no avail.
I hope this works for you.

I want to use my original router "Buffalo WBMR G54" with BT and have been for a short while but cannot access  online banking or barclaycard online, works ok with home hub. Tried both firefox and IE8, pages just hangs on both browsers.

Can you tell me how to change the MTU settings for the BT Hub pls?
I have just moved home and have taken BT BB with me.....the internet is running fine but i cant connect to secure sites at all. Have tried contacting BT and they have tried everything but cant help!
    Thanks
First check your Firewall is not blocking SSL port 443.
This thread contains most of the information you may need to change you PC MTU value,  I don't think the Homehub MTU value can be easily changed?

  • I can't connect to secure websites including Microsoft

Hi folks, well as you may have seen I had a bit of a job getting my 865 connected to the network/web at all, but I did!
Now I have a bizarre problem which though I have found some info on have not found a solution.
Let me just state that most people who seem to have had this prob are on XP SP". I am on XP SP1.
I am getting a page cannot be displayed if I try to connect to any Microsoft site, ie hotmail, msn or mcrosoft iysel. I also can't connect to Ebay.
I can connect to yahoo and my internet bank account.
I have virus aand spyware checked
    I don#t have a firewall.
I am on a dialup connection via a wireless network via a wireless network.
I have tried all the solutions I have seen on the microsoft site.
I will stop there in case this really is the wrong place to post this. However, it is a problem I don't have on any of the other computers on the network which includes XP, 98, laptops and desktops.
Interested in your comments, cheers, Epirb.

    Hi Guys,
Yes, I have tried all the steps on the belkin site, they are the same as the microsoft suggested.
I cannot check the verisign one, it will not load on the mega, it does so on all other computers on the network.
Yes I can get a sucessful connection to all sites with an ad hoc connection throught the host PC with a crossover cable.
ALL firewalls disabled whilst I sort this out.
Have not chased up the MTU issue, I am fairly convinced it is a red herring with a tiscali dial up connection (Ie no broadband, no AOL)
I have upgraded the firmware on my USR wireless acess point.
It has been not only a pain but made no difference.
I have tried various different network configurations, all to no avail.
I have a further question though. It seems that all the troubleshooting advice that I have been following relates to problems connecting to secure sites, ie ones with the prefix https:// I cannot connect to some http:// sites either, ie Ebay hotmail or plain old microsoft. Am I missing something here?
Anyone here with nothing better to do than review all this post and suggest where I may be missing something so very obvious it is embarrasing?
    Thanks for continued interest, Epirb.

Push notifications also work so posts from Facebook and Instagram still pop-up. Does any one have any ideas? Thanks.

When I try to login in to my Twitter, it gives me this error: An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.
    What's the solution? Thanks!

Go into your browser preferences and make sure the boxes for ' Use SSL 3.0' and 'Use TLS 1.0' are checked. The settings will be in preferences > advanced > encryption.
You could also try using another browser.

I had this happen a while ago too when I switched development machines, but I was able to submit it from a friend's house, so I'm pretty sure it is my ISP but this should not be a problem. I am trying to push out another update and I'm having the same problem again. I would be very happy if there was a permanent solution to this problem.
