Tony is often around so may reply with more info.
It certainly works if the news Supplier supports it. Not sure who supplies the BT news feeds so cannot comment on the BT supplied news groups.

Disable weak ciphers and support for all SSL protocols prior to v3.
I am very new to Weblogic and I need a little help with the SSL configurations. I received a security audit back and discovered that Weblogic's SSL is running weak ciphers and also supporting unacceptable versions of SSL (we require a minimum of SSLv3 and need to deny connections with anything less). That said, can anyone point me in the right direction for disabling weak ciphers as well as forcing support for SSLv3 and up only for client connections. I am running Weblogic 10.3.
Edited by: David Pulliam on Jan 26, 2011 8:31 AMHi David,
-Dweblogic.security.SSL.protocolVersion=SSL3 —> Using this JAVA_OPTION will allow Only SSL V3.0 messages are sent and accepted. So add the mentioned JAVA_OPTION in the server start script along with the below OPTION:
-Dweblogic.security.disableNullCipher=true
Also you can do the following in your "config.xml" to make sure that the Weblogic will not accept weak and medium weak passwords:
<ssl>
<enabled>true</enabled>
<ciphersuite>TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA</ciphersuite>
<ciphersuite>TLS_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_MD5</ciphersuite>
<hostname-verification-ignored>true</hostname-verification-ignored>
<listen-port>7002</listen-port>
<server-private-key-alias>aliasHere</server-private-key-alias>
<server-private-key-pass-phrase-encrypted>encryptedpassphraseHere</server-private-key-pass-phrase-encrypted>

SSL Pinning support for mobile apps ?
Hi there
i've just read this article and wondered if there is cross platform support for SSL pinning for mobile apps (iOS and Android) developed with AIR ?
So far my Google research wasn't successful, therefore i ask here.
Maybe this feature could be supported by a native extension ?
Thank you for any hint.

Hi Bob,
Yes, this info got burried. Basically, it's a tool for building LabVIEW-based software products. It is highly flexible/extensible and tries to fill the holes left by LabVIEW's built-in Application Builder. Here are some good links to more info:

Need support for TLS 1.2
Hi :
SSL 2.0 was broken in 1997, SSL3.0 was broken in 1998,TLS 1.0 is broken because it relies in SHA1, MD5 which are both broken in 2004.
We need support for TLS 1.2.
The new fed Identify effort http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/06/25/national-strategy-trusted-identities-cyberspace
will require not just trusted identity but trusted transport.Mozilla need to take the TLS security issue very serious, or they will risk loosing their customer to Opera and IE etc. Today TLS 1.0 is easily broken (see: [https://threatpost.com/en_us/blogs/fixes-works-ssl-attack-support-lacking-newer-versions-protocol-092211 here] ) Possibly by at least removing all CBC ciphers from your list of allowed ciphers.

SSL encryption for Apex 4.1
Hi Guys,
I am trying to set up SSL encryption for my local install.
I am running APEX 4.1 in Windows 7 (32 bit) , Oracle XE 11G with embedded plsql gateway setup.
The APEX documentation I looked at that deals with SSL:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21678/adm_mg_service_set.htm#AEADM297
instructs to turn HTTPS on in APEX_ADMIN (Internal schema) under security.
It didn't work as APEX was visible still under http://localhost:8080/apex and using HTTPS gave page not found error. On top of that It locked out my Admin account for INTERNAL workspace. So I had to switch it back via SQL query in SQL plus.
From limited experience in doing something similar in Tomcat, I believe one needs certificates etc before proceeding with this.
Anyone who has done this before, can you please point to a any documenation/blog post, tutorial etc that shows how its done? Many thanks.Hi,

HTTPS is not supported natively with the HTTP listener built into Oracle Database XE. If you want HTTPS support, use an alternative Web listener, such as Apache, that does provide HTTPS support, and provide proxies for the URLs provided by Oracle Database XE.

That APEX instance admin parameter you have change do not enable HTTPS. It require that you use HTTPS on your web listener.
Here is how reverse HTTPS Requirement for APEX instance admin

Web Service Support for WebLogic
Add Support for Web Services to WebLogic using IONA's XMLBus
For anyone interested in Web services, IONA has just released a free
technology preview of iPortal XMLBus, with support for BEA WebLogic 6.0
patch 1. You can download it today from www.xmlbus.com, a Web site entirely
dedicated to Web services.
The iPortal XMLBus Technology Preview enables Java Developers to turn
existing EJBs and Java Applications into Web services. XMLBus is 100% pure
Java and installs seamlessly on top of the
WebLogic. It implements the W3C v1.1 draft specifications of SOAP and WSDL.
SOAP is the communication protocol used by Web services to traverse over
HTTP, SNMP, and FTP. WSDL has become the standard for describing Web service
interfaces in XML.
XMLBus automates the process of turning Java classes into Web services,
ensuring that Java developers do not need to learn a whole new programming
language to turn existing applications into Web services.
Wizards guide the developer through the identification of interfaces and
methods the developer wants to become a Web service. The wizard deploys a
SOAP Listener and a WSDL interface for that Java Class, as well as Java
client proxy applications. The client proxy can easily be incorporated into
any Java Application to invoke the corresponding methods described in the
WSDL.
Download a free copy of the iPortal XMLBus Technology Preview from:

Post Questions to the XMLBus Newsgroup:

Mailto:[email protected]This is fixed now. Someone had defined a Servlet for the web service in web.xml that was preventing the EJB container to kick in.

The SSL support feature is not properly configured. Https is not available.
Hi all
We get the following warning message even though we are not using SSL.
"The SSL support feature is not properly configured. Https is not available."
I tried with the following parameter set to false in the MobileEngine.config, still the same warning occurs for each synchronization done. But the sync works fine.
MobileEngine.Security.SSLSupport=false
Had any body come accross this one, if so please let me know.
Thanks
RajHi Raj
The error "The SSL support feature is not properly configured. Https is not available" will not cause any problems for you during synchronization. The reason that this error is displayed is due to the fact that by default MI is configured to support HTTPS Synchronization and not HTTP. This is because it is recommeded to use HTTPS sync inorder to transmit data in a secure manner and this is very necessary in customer production system. This so called error will not have any impact on sync but is just an information to the administrator. This can be disabled by the use of parameter <b><i>MobileEngine.Security.SSLSupport=false</i></b> but make sure that this parameter is set to false even before performing the first sync i.e before obtaining a device id. If you set this value to false after performing some syncs, the error is still visibile in either the Web Console or the NetWeaver Administrator because it would have been sent by the previous sync and these statments are retained and never purged. Hope this helps and clarifies your doubts.

Hello,
Because "TLSv1.1" is listed as a SSLContext Algorithm (https://cis.med.ucalgary.ca/http/java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/StandardNames.html#SSLContext)
i have been trying to specify it in my code as shown below:
SSLContext sc = SSLContext.getInstance("TLSv1.1");
sc.init(kmFact.getKeyManagers(), tmFact.getTrustManagers(), null);
But i get the following instead:
java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: TLSv1.1 SSLContext not available
at sun.security.jca.GetInstance.getInstance(Unknown Source)
at javax.net.ssl.SSLContext.getInstance(Unknown Source)
I am using JDK1.6.0_4. Does it support TLSv1.1? Or do I find another provider (if there is one)?
ThanksI am sorry.... in fact i was reading the wrong doc.... here is the one from java6 spec
The JSSE API is capable of supporting SSL versions 2.0 and 3.0 and Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0. These security protocols encapsulate a normal bidirectional stream socket and the JSSE API adds transparent support for authentication, encryption, and integrity protection. The JSSE implementation shipped with Sun's JRE supports SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0. It does not implement SSL 2.0.
Link
nevertheless TLS1.1 is not implemented by java1.6 as well....
thanks ejp... for the correction.... -
SSL Implementation for Oracle XE
Is there any documentation for implementing SSL for Oracle XE?
The specific issue is the web based user sign on for XE. For security reasons this will probably be https by production (we may also look at digest authentication as an alternative). But that will probably be the extent of SSL support 'native' to XE.
If you want full https support in XE then I think that would need to be done by deploying iAS or Apache in front of the XE database - you should not need to change your app to do this.
This would also be the preferred method if you were deploying an app developed with HTML DB in XE to the internet - I doubt that many people would want to put XE in the DMZ.
I would be interested in hearing your requirements in this area. -
SSL initiation for SMPP on ACE module
Hi Community,
we have a new requirement to enable a connection to a server with SMPP protocol wrapped inside a SSL channel for transport over internet. Can any one suggest if the ACE module support to do SSL initiation to secure standard SMPP (3.4) servers?
Kind regardsHi,
ACE does support SSL initiation. Please visit the below link for details. Ace also supports SSL termination and End-to-End SSL.

Feature request: keymapping support for basic GVIM style editing
Maybe this isn't the right forum, but it seems to be the only mechanism for providing
feedback. I'm getting used to the workshop environment and like a lot of the
features it provides. Tab completion of methods, parameter info, import automation
are all very nice modern features. I come from a Unix background and cut my teeth
coding on VI and GVIM off the command prompt. A feature that would really sell
me on an IDE and many that I know, would be some support for VI keymappings.
Once you are used to an editor that doesn't make you run to the mouse or the arrow
keys every time you need to move the cursor, anything less feels slow and taxing.
If basic support for "VI like" operation could be added, I think you'd find more
people like myself willing to spend time in the IDE for its other features. GVIM
offers a rich set of features, of which about 10 would suffice for most of what
I do.
1. insert/navigate modes so you can use ijkl instead of arrow keys.
2. support for '/' as a search prompt as well as 'n' and 'N' to jump between
findings.
3. support for regular expressions on the search line
4. support for regular expressions via a VI style substitute command {range}:s/search/replace/
5. :w for write or "save"
6. :e to open a file
7. 'A' to jump to the end of a line and enter insert mode.
8. 'D' to delete beyond the cursor to the end of the line.
9. :line-number to jump to a line number.
10. 'x' to delete a character and 2x for two etc...
Okay, my list goes beyond ten if I continue, but if I could perform basic editing
without having to go to the arrows or the mouse or a separate window of gvim,
I'd be a happy customer.
Thanks,
MorganMorgan,
The engg team has confirmed that its a goal to support this in the next
version.
Thanks for the suggestion. Keep them coming!
