SSL Termination in ACE 4710 not working
Hi,
I have configured a new ACE 4710 with only a sinlge context to redirect https traffic to http real servers using SSL Termination. When I do a telnet on port 443 or 80 to the VIP it works fine but when I try to open the URL it prompts me for accepting the certificate then it tries to find and establish connection to the URL but eventually dies out giving a "Page cannot be displayed error". I have done some troubleshooting and found that the connection to the VIP on 443 port is Established but the out connection from the real server to the client remains in the INIT state. I am attaching the configs and all the troubleshooting data I have collected. Pls someone help.
Yes the "server pkt count" for the "class: VIP_HTTPD_Redirect" is not incrementing and yes the servers do not have the default gateway towards the ACE.So as suggested I have configured default route in the servers towards the ACE interface vlan ip address. Still the server packet count is not incrementing. I am posting the updated configuration of the ACE as an attachment. Pls help.

301 Wiki SSL redirect via Server Admin not working
I can't get http://myserver.com/wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. I have other 301 redirects to send users to https pages working fine. How can I fix this? Thanks for your time - it's much appreciated. (Mavericks/Server Admin 3.1.2)
Regarding the redirect, I don't really understand why it's not possible. You can edit the non-SSL website in Web and add a 301 for /Wiki to redirect to https://myserver.com/wiki. In fact you can redirect the entire site to SSL - but that is problematic. I can understand why Mavericks server would be designed to automatically use SSL for wiki logins, if it's available. I only looked at redirects because this was not working. Without a redirect or with a redirect - I can login to Wiki via non-SSL or SSL. Where (specifically in which text file) are these redirects created using Server Admin written to? I can't find them in apache2/httpd.conf. Thanks again for your help.

We have a ACE redirect configured on 3 physically seperate ACE modules with the following config. It works on one ACE Module and not on the other 2.
Capture on the ACE and sniffer gives this error.R [bad tcp cksum 2d41!] ACE sends resets to the client. Anyone run into this issue?
The software version is system: Version A2(1.0a) [build 3.0(0)A2(1.0a)

I guess I'm basically asking if there's potential for asymmetry at the site that's not working.
For example.
Say I have a load balanced server. It has two interfaces a "front end" and a "back end". I manage the server on the backend from my laptop, for which the server has a route. Now if I try to hit the public VIP of the LB, traffic is routed to the VIP, then to the server, but because the server already has a route to my laptop via the backend, it bypasses the load balancer on the return and replies directly to me, thus putting the flow out of sync and never completing the connection...
Not saying that's it, but I've had so many asymmetry issues that are tough to figure out that It's usually one of the first things I rule out...
It's possible if the site that's not working is local to you and the others aren't, this may be a potential issue?? -
Primary copy paste terminal to X applications not working with unicode
If I have multiple X applications open, I can copy and paste unicode without issue. If I have multiple terminals open, I can copy and paste unicode without issue between them.
However, if I use the clipboard to copy and paste unicode between a terminal and the X application, it does not work. The only way to do so is to highlight the text in the terminal, and middle click in the X application (I believe that is the primary being used).
I am using urxvt as my terminal.
I use autocutsel to integrate my primary and my clipboard. I have the following in my .xinitrc
autocutsel -fork &
autocutsel -selection PRIMARY -fork &
Is anyone familiar with a way to easily integrate my primary and clipboard buffers and have unicode between X applications and terminals?First, use EasyFind to look for files instead of Spotlight, it's free and finds things Spotlight won't.
Second, you CAN just drag an app to the trash and delete it. Other files that get left on the hard drive are not that serious. They will not slow up the system they just use up disk space but not even very much of that. Every few months just go through things and clean up a bit. Most of these files will get put in your user library in Preferences, Caches and Application support. Preference files are usually 4-12 kb, a hundred of them isn't taking up much space.
AppZapper should easily take care of most apps, just don't use it with the more complicated apps.

Tacacs authentication with ACE appliance not working
Hi All,
I'm having trouble with a Cisco ACE 4710 appliance using tacacs to authenticate ssh/telnet remote users. Following the CCO documentation we have configured the backend tacacs server (Cisco Secure ACS) and setup the ACE with the required configuration.
tacacs-server key 7 "letmein"
tacacs-server host 192.168.1.1 timeout 5
aaa group server tacacs+ ACStac
server 192.168.1.1
aaa authentication login default group ACStac local
So far no luck in successfully authenticating any users. I can see in the log on the ACS a key mismatch error however I have 100% verified the keys are identical, im thinking this may be a bug?
Furthermore when I paste in the tacacs-server key it gets converted to a type 7 in the running configuration even though I use the no encryption option. Anyone have any ideas? The ACE is running version A3(2.3)
Thanks in advanceHi Matt,
Please remove the shared secret of teh NDG and test.

Anisha

RDP to a Terminal Server via TTPT not working through routers.
I am having problems using RDP to a terminal server through a user home router and DSL connection.
User has a Linksys WRT5G v3 (Firmware 4.21.1) connected to a Cisco 678 DSL Modem.
If I direct connect the home computer to the Cisco DSL Modem everything works fine. When I try to go through the Linksys, I can get the PPTP authenticated but the RDP client just times out.
It would seem like this is a port forwarding issue, but I have tried to use the port forwarding to the IP address of the home computer(statically assigned) by forwarding ports 47, 1723 for the PPTP and port 3389 for RDP.
I have seen the same issue on my home Broadband cable setup with a NetGear Router. Having spent over an hour with the NetGear technical support without resolution. I swapped in a old Linksys Wireless Router BEFW11S4 v4 (firmware 1.52.02) and it fixed the issue.
What is the issue with some home routers letting RDP out? Is there a known model that it will work on?I believe I have found what my issue is. The older Linksys BEFW11S4 model has a “hard coded” DHCP Server Start IP Address range of 192.168.0.X you can only change the last octet. The newer Linksys WRT5G and WRT54Gs have a “hard coded” DHCP Server Start IP Address range of 192.168.1.X.
Apparently this is their “dumb downed” solution for home routers. They do not allow you to select a different subnet to hand out with DHCP but interestingly they do allow you to fully configure the LAN IP address.
How this affected me is that my target server/network uses the same 192.168.1.X addressing scheme.
I was able to use the newer router by configuring the LAN address to like 192.168.0.200 and turning off the DHCP server. Then I assigned a static IP address to the computer in the home network to something like 192.168.0.250. Then I could successfully use PPTP and RDP to connect to a terminal server. -
Hi,
I have implemented Access Control Engine for the authorizations over Business Activities and works fine. Now, I'm implementing authorizations over Business Partners in the same way.
The problem is that the system does not the checks in BP transaction (the tables of the system are completely filled).
My system is a CRM 4.0 with BBPCRM patch 12.
Best Regards,
Alfredo.

Terminal/mysql screwup - internet not working now!
I was working in Terminal trying to setup mysql on my g4 powerbook to get Wordpress to work, but someone quit my session of Terminal in the middle of it. Now the internet will not connect. I am using a simple eternet connection. Can someone help me get this back to normal (I won't worry about intalling Wordpress right now. Here is what my Terminal history looks like:
Welcome to Darwin!
PowerBook:~ Powerbook$ history
1 cd /usr/local/mysql
2 sudo chown -R mysql data/
3 sudo echo
4 sudo ./bin/mysqld_safe &
5 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql test
6 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u root -p
7 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql test
8 sudo pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf
9 mysql
10 quit

13 cd /usr/local
14 sudo rm mysql
15 sudo rm -rf mysql-3.23.47-apple-darwin5.1-p

PowerBook:~ Powerbook$Hi again Robert! Glad you found your way here.
It could be that step 8: sudo pico /etc/httpd/httpd.conf, is the cause of your problem. Did you save the original file first? Is there a backup file in that directory (either httpd.conf~ or httpd.conf.bak)?
Do you have a httpd.conf.default in there? I do, but may have created it myself.
Also, step 4 created a background process that may still be running. I don't know how that would affect things. Maybe someone with MySQL knowledge can chip in.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll find an answer now you're posting in the right place -
How to install a root certificate of private CA for SSL initiation in ACE 4710 ?
Hello ACE Gurus,
We have to deploy end-to-end SSL for one of our application, but of course we won't be buying Entrust or other big name certificates for each web server : we want to use self-issued certs signed by our private CA.The topology looks like this :
Internet Client ----HTTPs_Entrust_Cert----> ACE ------HTTPs_Private_Cert------> WebServers
Maybe my search skills are soft, but I haven't found how to import a private CA certificate in the ACE, so that when the ACE initiates an SSL session with the webserver (as a client), it will recognize the Web Server's SSL Cert as valid, because he already has it in it's root store.
The only thing I've found, is how to configure the ACE to ignore the SSL authentification/validation errors, like this :
host1/Admin(config)# parameter-map type ssl SSL_PARAMMAP_SSL
host1/Admin(config-parammap-ssl)# authentication-failure ignore
Thanks for the help!
Alex.Hi Alex,
From ACE perspective, it doesn't make differences if you are using certificates issued by your local or a "well known" CA. Moreover, if not mistaken, you have to configure authentication group whatever you are doing client or server authentication.

ACE preemption not working correctly
What I want to do:
ACE B, which is in the STANDBY_HOT state should going to ACTIVE mode when ACE A, which is ACTIVE,goes down. ACE B, which is in ACTIVE mode now should stay ACTIVE even when ACE A comes backup.
I made already several tests and saw, that when the ACE's are not in a productive ennvironment it works as I like it, but when it is in a productive ennvironment, ACE A takes back the ACTIVE state altough I configured no preempt. I also tried it with diffrent priorities, but same thing happend. What am I missing?

SSL for pop3 or imap4 - not working.
Hi,
I was searching entire forum and couldn't find any information how to resolve my problem.
Environment:
GWIA Version: 8.0.3
Linux SUSE 11.2
In ConsoleOne in properties of GWIA I can't find fields for uploading SSL certyficates and network settings.
When I using switches of gwia.cfg file nothing with ssl won't works. I can disable or enable POP3, IMAP4 but nothing else. In logfile nothing, any error.
Certyficates was genereted by tool on this forum (file names in format 8.3), additionaly I was trying to set external signed certyficates in pem and pfx format with password and no. Nothing works :(

Nice solution! The GWIA is the one object that seems to be fussy about moving
to Linux, especially if you aren't using NSS, and there are file case issues.

Enabling SSL on MQ Adapter does not work
Hi All,
I have a MQ Adapter that enqueues the message properly in the MQ without SSL. Now MQ is SSL enabled and I have got a .DER certificate with me which I presume is the Public Key of the MQ Server.
Now I have to use SSL-enabled MQSeries Adapter. The User's Guide for Technology Adapters says to set certain SSL related properties. I don't know how to get the values of these properties. So I have tried doing this.
1.) I imported the Public Key certificate (.DER file) into default weblogic keystores DemoIdentity.jks and DemoTrust.jks. (I did not create my own keystores, didn't use key password)
2.) I also imported it into the Java keystore cacerts file. (I did not send any certificates to Certification Authority)
3.) I modified the JNDI and set the SSL related properties (as given in the guide) for JNDI in Weblogic.
4.) Then I just test run my TestMQConnectivity composite and I get the following error.
Caused by: BINDING.JCA-00001
java.util.MissingResourceException
java.util.MissingResourceException
java.util.MissingResourceException
java.util.MissingResourceException
at oracle.tip.adapter.mq.ManagedConnectionImpl.setupSSLSocketFactory(ManagedConnectionImpl.java:684)
at oracle.tip.adapter.mq.ManagedConnectionImpl.createPhysicalConnection(ManagedConnectionImpl.java:578)
I don't know where I should be looking for the cause of the error : JNDI, SSL config, Keystores.
Please can anyone tell me the steps I need to follow to use the SSL enabled MQ Adapter? The documentation for this is not much explanatory.

tazdevil77Uninstall everything creative starting with console launcher, then apps, then soundblaster stuff via programs and features.
Then go into device manager and select the xfi device, properties and uninstall the drivers.
Then go into the registry and under HKLM/software delete the creative tech key.
Then reboot into safe mode. Don't let it install the driver for the "new device" select "later"
Then open command window. Type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=" enter. Then "devmgmt.msc" enter. Select "show hidden devices". Then go into non-plug and play devices. Delete the following: creative 20x hal driver, creative os services driver, creative proxy driver, creative soundfont management device driver, ct20xut.dll, ctaudfx.dll, cteapsfx.dll, ctedspfx.dll, ctedspio.dll, ctedspsy.dll, cterfxfx.dll, ctexfifx.dll, cthwiut.dll, ctsblfx.dll, e-mu plug-in architecture driver. Or all of these that you have. You will be prompted to reboot after each. Choose later. Once you've deleted them all reboot again into safe mode. Again select "later" if prompted to install drivers.
Run driver sweeper or driver cleaner, or both if you want.
Now go into C:\windows\system32. Add a filter selection for "company". Delete all creative files. There are 5 or 6 of them.
Now repeat for C:\windows\SysWow64.
Reboot into vista (normal). Select later if prompted to install a driver. Now you are totally rid of anything creative!
Install the latest x-fi driver from the website. Reboot.
Then install any other apps off the creative website that might be newer than those on the cd.
Then install the desired apps off the cd. Reboot.
Uninstall the automatic update via "programs and features".
You should be back in business.
