Ssl URL connection

Does anybody know if a way in jdk 1.3 to open a URL connection using SSL. I know of the javax.net.ssl.HttpsURLConnection class in 1.4 but it wasn't in the JSSE jar files I downloaded? Has anyone any ideas?

It is definetely in there! But you will need to register the url factory to be able to use https. Take a look on the read me for JSSE install.

  • Map Viewer URL Connection Issue

    Hi,
    I have an UI project, for which i have created a Deployment Profile named 'adfXXXXXUI' nothing but created a adflibrary for that UI project.
    While creating the adf jar, i have come across an Option called 'Connections' .
    Here i have selected Connection Names Only ... means i will be getting all the names of the connections i have created & those will be reflected in my local connection.xml file.
    After configuring the rest of the params, i deployed my UI project to "deploy -> adfXXXXXUI.jar".
    And we have used this jar to integrate with another UI application ... And the taskflows avilable in the jar will be used in the other UI application.
    Now here is my problem ... Actually my connections.xml file has a URL Connection. This is how it looks like....
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>

    All the taskflows avaialble in my jar using the URL connection which mentioned above. But the adflibray jar got created with a file named 'jar-connection.xml', where i can see <Reference/> as an empty Tag. Because i have selected connections name only as an option when creating the adflibrary for my UI.
    Hence it is appearing so ... But when i added this jar to the other application, i have dragged & dropped the taskflows as a region on to the JSPX page. And i started running the page. On the page .... i can see only the data which is not making use of MapServer connection defiition. Along with that, some maps needs to rendered .. but that is not happening. Rest of the page with the filter critieria is being displayed properly.
    Now i have selected Include Connection Details as an option, by editing the adfLibrary Deployment profile of the UI & redeployed & found the same thing. Like, though i specify the Include Connection Details as an option ... i did not see those URL connection details in my jar-connection.xml file.Still it is not working.
    All the taskflows inside the jar are trying to use this URL connection from jar-connection.xml, which is avaiable inside the adfLibUI.jar.
    I tried with a scenorio some thing like ... For the application to which i have added this adfUILibrary, there itself i created a URLConnection ... but it did not worked as well.
    Requesting you to let me know how can i get avail of my URL connection in to my jar ...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran Konjeti

    This is purely ssl issue. You can try adding the below logic first.. This code basically sets ssl properties for us.
    import java.security.Security;
    Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
    Properties properties = System.getProperties();
    String handlers = System.getProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs");
    if (handlers == null) {
        // nothing specified yet (expected case)
        properties.put("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
    else {
        // something already there, put ourselves out front
        properties.put("java.protocol.handler.pkgs", "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol|".concat(handlers));

  • ACE module SSL url rewrite and path rewrite

    Hi all,
    I'm hoping some of you helpful people on this forum can guide me or suggest a solution to a problem I'm faced with.
    I am currently load balancing exchange 2010 traffic via an ACE module.  Software version is A2(3.3).  I have most parts of it working fine however I am having an issue when it comes to SSL termination for Outlook Web Access (OWA).
    The problem comes down to a HTTP header (field is location).  I have configured an action list to re-write the SSL pure URL as per page 96 of the "Cisco Application Control Engine Module SSL Configuration Guide".  example:
    ssl url rewrite location bnecas\.mycompany\.com sslport 443
    That part works, the http header location field that comes back from the GET request is changed to https://cas.mycompany.com which is great.  However, in addition to that url, there is also a path or something following that part.  The actual string that is returned is:
    https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    The first bit of it, (https://cas.mycompany.com) is changed by the ssl url rewrite command, however the last part (http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0) isn't changed.
    This is where I've been trying to get the http Header Rewrite command to do something.  I don't know if it can work in conjunction with the ssl url rewrite function however with the ssl rewrite function it seems it can't change bits of the string that aren't the pure URL at the front.
    The end result is that while I have an SSL connection to the OWA login page, when I do login to OWA it reverts back to HTTP.  I'm fairly sure it is because of the last part of the location string above.  Is there a way to change that location string to do the following:
    1.  change the first part of the string to be https://cas.mycompany.com (like the ssl url rewrite function)
    2.  change the last part of the location string to put https in there instead of http
    Ideally I would love to have this string
    http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=http://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    replaced with this one
    https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?url=https://cas.mycompany.com/owa/&reason=0
    I had originally tried the following in the action list:
    header rewrite response location header-value "(owa/auth/logon\.aspx\?url=)http(://bnecas\.thiess\.aus/owa/&reason=0)" replace "%1https%2"
    ssl url rewrite location bnecas\.mycompany\.com sslport 443
    but it didn't work.  I'm probably screwing up the regex somewhere however there doesn't seem to be very clear examples anywhere I can find.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated and of course I will be sure to rate every post that responds to my plea for help.

  • What is the difference between HTTPS URL connection and SSLSocket conn

    What is the difference between HTTPS URL connection and SSLSocket connection

    The difference is that they are different protocols, or rather one protocol layered over the other. If you're within a LAN you will use SSL, if it's a Web service you will use HTTPS.

  • SSL VPN Connection error with SA520

    Hi there,
    I have an SA520 setup and all my users can login to the SSL VPN tunnel except one user. The laptop is running windows 7 64bit and had IE9 installed. When I try to connect her to use an SSL VPN Tunnel, I get the following error: Cisco-SSLVPN-Tunnel Install Failed: Error in getting proxy settings!.
    I have made sure the firewall was turned off. Any idea on how to get the ssl tunel connected?
    Thanks

    Hihi,
    we have the same problem, running on Vista 32 bit, and IE9.
    On the same machine, using virtual PC and emulating an XP environment it works, what a paradox!
    It works also on Win 7 64 bit, although only with the 64 bit version of IE.
    Coming back to our Vista issue, we did not find any way to make it work properly.
    Tried to turn off firewall, disinstall a lot of stuff that may interphere, etc. , still same problem.
    We are a bit annoyed there seems to be no documentation about this error nor troubleshooting help.
    Anyone has any suggestion ??

    Usually those connections linger around for some time, and will then be closed by the OS once a certain timeout has been reached. I don't know how to change that timeout, though.
    Btw: the docs don't claim that the connection will be closed. The description for disconnect() is "Indicates that other requests to the server are unlikely in the near future"
    If you still see the connection after a while, then something is wrong, but I've seen connections like that hang around for several minutes even after the JVM was terminated.

  • Require Only SSL/TLS Connections

    I would like to require that only SSL/TLS connections be allowed to my server. This is not to be confused with wanting SSL client authentication. I had initially thought I could do this with ACI using the authmethod="ssl", however after looking at the documentation closely and experimentation this refers to do client based SSL authentication as well. I do have SSL/TLS set up correctly, I just want to disallow non-encrypted traffic.
    In OpenLDAP I would merely state "security ssf=128" to require SSL/TLS only connections.
    Anyone know how to do this in Sun's Directory Server?

    The reason I don't use a firewall (presumedly to block port 389) or set the non-secure port to 0 is that this would disallow TLS on port 389. Hence all I could do is SSL and only 636. I would like to be able to allow only TLS on 389 and not allow non-TLS traffic.

    Hi, i have a project in which i have to make a http post to multiple web

    Are u using Custom Connection Pool or some App Servers Conn Pool for LDAP Connection?
    If you are opening LDAP Connection in your program code and wondering how to monitor, then it needs to be done on the LDAP Server side. Not from the application.

  • Regarding URL Connection Creation.

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a URL Connection in JDev 11.1.2, and using the following JDev RSS URL:
    http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/132361.xml
    However, when I am testing the connection, its saying "Specified URL Connection is not accessible.".
    However, the same link when I access from the browser, its accessible.
    I have tried setting the proxy as well but same result.
    Is this a known issue or am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Lalit.

    Lalit,
    It is almost certainly a problem with your proxy configuration, as it works fine for me (with no proxy in between).

  • Encrypting authentication details - HTTP URL Connection

    Hi,
    We have a Java application which retreives HTML content from intranet page using HTTPURLConnection, displays the portion of the content. The site to which we are connecting using HTTPURLConnection requires baisc user authentication and we are passing the user name and passowrd using BASE 64 encoding in the request header. Now this intranet site is going to be hosted externally. Just wanted to know the different options on how to send the user name and password in ecnrypted format.Is the recommendation is just to enable HTTPS for that site and pass user name and password using HTTP URL Connection API? Or are there any other options? Appreciate any inputs.
    Thanks.

  • Http Request through URL Connection?

    Hi ,
    Iam using an Applet (under JRE 1.3.0). Iam trying to send a Http Request using URL Connection. It is working fine . However, if the response time of the server is more than 3 minutes , the Response is not coming back to the server and the Applet is in a loop trying to read from the Server. I have observed that the request is sent to the server and it is processed successfully.
    When I test it in my local devp. machine it is working fine till 15 minutes which is my requirement.
    Can anybody suggest what should be the possible reasons and any workaround for it?

    Hi,
    Oracle furnish an embedded Java VM with the database but does not furnish JDKs; there is no such a thing as Oracle JDK 1.3.
    You are probably referring to JDBC but which release?
    SSL Authentication is supported in JDBC-Thin 11g and JDBC-OCI pre-11g.

  • Does the 'Hotmail' option in IOS mail use SSL to connect to the hotmail servers?

    Just wondering, when selecting the 'Hotmail' option when setting up email on IOS mail, whether this automatically uses SSL to connect to the hotmail servers - it doesn't show any server settings when you view the account.

    Hi Drewscussions,
    Thanks for the reply - I'm just wondering about the security measures in place behind those predefined settings I.e. does it use an encrypted SSL link. I would like to ensure, as I often access emails off public wifi, that I have it set correctly to use an encrypted connection to my hotmail account.
    My emails have been working fine - it's more of a question about what security measures are in place in that preset mail option.
    Cheers
