SSLContext.init() hangs randomly
We use Jakarta tomcat 4.1.18 on a Redhat linux platform with SSL enabled.
The problem is on one praticular machine,
uname -a
Linux Lei-Op 2.4.9-e.3smp #1 SMP Fri May 3 16:48:54 EDT 2002 i686 unknown
the method SSLContext.init() hangs for more than 10 minutes and returns.
SSLContext is com.sun.net.ssl.SSLContext.
More specifically it hangs in SSLContextImpl.engineInit(), I think.
The JDK is,
java version "1.4.1_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_02-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_02-b06, mixed mode)
Can anybody tells us what is happening which causes the method to hang.
The code which invokes it in tomcat is in org.apache.tomcat.util.net.jsse.JSSESocketFactory.
Thanks,
I also have this problem. It must be related to the linux kernel because I only have this problem on one particular machine. Has anyone seen a solution for this?

My macbook air 2012 hangs randomly, when it happens the only thing i can do is push the power button and restart. I tought it was mavericks related so installed ML again but it still freezes sometimes. The log of the few minutes before the freeze:

0 B Page-outs1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from win 7 pro client to SB Server
Having a problem with program hanging randomly on certain commands from Win-7 Pro Client to SB Server Both 64-Bit
Five other slower XP-Pro 32 Bit systems though they are older and slower systems do not seem to hang as readily if at all.
It has been very frustrating as the Client-System, SB-Server and Program should work w/o any hitches, but this seems to work fine @ times and then hang randomly.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions in assisting.... JimBAgde-MSSYou can try this, as I have had similar problems with another MS Access .MDB file and slow access before. This fixed my problem for me. On the slow computer, make sure the program is set to see the .mdb file via UNC path, not a mapped drive letter. ex.
USE: \\yourserver\shared\dental\file.mdb
DO NOT: S:\\shared\dental\file.mdb
hope this helps -
When exporting few videos, the process hangs randomly. The processor performance is 0 % and the lightroom says it is working (actually it is not). I have to quit lightroom, kill all processes like amecommand.exe, Adobe Media Core, Adobe Dynamic Link Manager and restart the process. It stops randomly.
I am exporting ALL-I videos from Canon 5D mark III, into H264, high quality.
PS: The same situation was with Lightroom 4.Hello,
i have the same problem on LR5.5 on Win 7 (8G RAM)
Thank you for any help.

BOBJ WEBI XI 3.1 SP 6 Report hangs randomly
We upgraded the BOBJ XI 3.1 SP3 to SP6. We're now noticing that the WEBI reports are hanging randomly. It doesn't trigger any DIA session in BW backend. It looks like connection issue between BOBJ and BI. If I close the report and refresh it again, it runs fine. It is happening very randomly and there are enough DIA processes available in BW. We're currently on BW 7.0 ENHP1 SP 08.
Has anyone faced this issue? Is there any way we can perform the connection trace between BOBJ and BW?
Thanks,
MilindMilind,
First, SP6 is not an option. Please upgrade to 6.3 or SP7. because it contains several problems with calculation engine and merge dimension.
maybe your problem is fixed after updrade -
KeyBoard Hangs Randomly with VDI 3.1
Hi All,
I have a customer running VDI 3.1. with Vbox as Desktop Provider
The keyboard hangs randomly at certain VM at certain times.
How can I fix this issue, please
Thanks in advance,I am also having this problem. I am getting random keyboard lockups at the VDI login screen. This only occurs at the login screen.
When this happens, my only option is usually a Stop+A. on some rare occasions a Ctrl+Alt+BkSpace-BkSpace may work.
Also if using a smartcard, puling it out and inserting it in again will do the trick.
We are using Type 7 Arabic keyboards.
I found a similar problem "http://blogs.sun.com/sjf/entry/keyboard_layout_problems_with_sun" related to kbd and java, but that was for another kiosk session type and I did not know if it is the same problem.
Also read that it may be a bug with the type 7 KB sending too many signals while idle, but this I can't seem to dig up the page I read it on.
We have also upgraded to VDI 3.1.1 and we still have the same problem. -
Iphone 5s Hangs randomly after upgrading to IOS 8
I am bit worried about IOS upgrade. I am using Iphone 5s since March 2014. Till date it was working fine. But when I upgraded my Iphone from IOS 7.1.2 to IOS 8 problem starts arriving.
Symptoms : 1. The phone hangs randomly after upgrade.
2. After selecting any application , it disappear suddenly. I have to start the application again. This mostly happen when I select Setting icon
This is very much embarrassing that I am using one of the best phone in the world and it hangs automatically when I need it most.
The only resolution for hang phone is to reboot.
I upgraded to latest IOS 8.0.2 but still no improvement. I am expecting Apple team to look into this issue and resolve it. Waiting for your response.I have 5 Iphone 5's and Ipad Air. All upgraded to ios8. Everyone locks! it is so locked you have to hold home button and power button serial times. It reboots and just shows apple. When you use Safari, or type a text message, they just get behind then lock up with half a screen or half the icons.
All my kids hate their devices now. I know Apple will fix. It is scary as i have never seen iPhones actually lock up and un-usable. this should have been caught in Beta. Perhaps Apple should get some "Real" outside normal users to beta. The ones they are using are not catching this stuff. Code is complicated, Apple has the best minds, Just keep holding the Home button and power button. Eventually it will reboot. Then close all the open apps. and don't tilt the phone sideways.
Also close all un-used webpages left open in safari. this seems to fix.
As for the Bug about lagging while texting and half screen lock ups. that needs to be fixed ASAP.
I know from building things, there is always a few hiccups. Yelling won't do anything, give Apple a chance to fix it. I love Apple, and will continue to purchase the items. The world economy is changing, suppliers are going green, thus you get cheap bendable parts too. Apple will find the middle ground and work the problem. Please all post they read these blogs.
If Apple deletes your posts and denies these problems then email Tim Cook. He does listen. Give it a week then it will all be sorted out. If apple sold iPhone 6 pluses that bend, then i am sure they will offer a replacement. Apple does care, May seem arrogant but they always come through at the end.
Hang in there, i always rush and put the update on the minute it comes out, over and over, then complain about the bugs. Better to wait a month. i am addicted to new and better and just click upgrade. My fault too. I know better after 37 years with apple.
Kind Regards,

Safari 7.0.2 hanging randomly on Mavericks
Safari keeps hanging intermittently for absolutely no reason. Whenever it does it, the spinning beachball comes up, and Safari is completely unresponsive for 5-10 seconds, then it goes back to normal as if nothing happened.
This started happening randomly about two to four days ago; I had not installed anything new that I can remember.
It started happening when I restarted out of Boot Camp. I went on Safari almost immediately after I logged in, and it started doing it. I thought that it was just initializing like it usually does when I log in, but after it kept doing it for a while, I got extremely frustrated, installed the Mavericks update (10.9.2), and went back to Windows, hoping the update would fix it when I would return. Unfortunately, it didn't.
Here are my extensions:
Facebook Photo Zoom 1.1206.11.1
AdBlock 2.6.18
YouTube Options 1.8.160
SCC (Safari Currency Converter) 1.2
Color My Facebook 1.203
Reddit Enhancement Suite 4.3.1.2

Premiere hangs randomly when loading media from Canon 5D Mark III
Premiere 5.5.0 hangs when loading media. When I drag like 20 files from explorer to Premiere, it loads some files, but at a random point it stops loading and freezes. I loaded every file manually by using ctrl-I within Premiere and saving regularly. After loading a random number of files (anywhere between 1 and 7) it freezes. I managed to get all the files into the project. Now when I try to open the project, it freezes randomly while loading the media. I copied the project and when I open the new one, it opens normal and asks where the media is. When I locate it... same problem, anywhere during loading it might freeze. When I cancel it, I can manually link every media file back, with the random risk of freezing.
I reinstalled Quicktime without any improvement.
I reinstalled Premiere without improvement.
In old projects sometimes random media-files are not linked. Sometimes I can link them succefully. Sometimes it freezes when I try to link them.
As far as I can tell this only happens to .mov files and not other types of media-files.
Sometimes when I have been working on a project succesfully, Premiere still freezes when I close it.
UPDATE
I found out that this only concerned movies from my Canon 5d Mark III. I searched if other people had the same problem and found this thread: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/923736
The solution is to rename the extensions from .mov into .mpg.
This solves the issue...danielschweinert wrote:
Does somebody else has this problem?
Yup: I heard about it just today, in fact. An FCP user was trying to get Cinema Tools to conform 24fps footage from a Mk II and Mk III to 25. No problems with the Mk II footage, but no luck with the Mk III footage.
Now, it could be just coincidence. But if you don't believe in coincidence, you might think that there's something screwy with Canon's new codecs for the Mk III. "Screwy" is a highly technical term, by the way. -
Hi All,
I am experiencing an issue where while running through our tests the Flash plugin will hang and crash randomly throughout the process. I am using Flash plugin version 10.1.102.64 and we have roughly 600 tests. We have tried to be as concious about memory consumption as possible in our tests, using the before and after meta data to remove and nullify objects but we are basically unable to run the tests all the way through most of the time.
Currently we are working on making deconstructors for some of the classes that are hogging the most memory, as seen in the profiler. Any recommendations as to what we can do?Usually when this happens an uncaught error (usually do to something asynchronous not using the Async API, an asynchronous race condition or an asynchronous error) is getting thrown outside of the FlexUnit framework.
What version of FlexUnit are you using currently? If you are using the 4.1 release candidate 2, you add an uncaughtErrorHandler.
While FlexUnit can't recover gracefully from this error, it will at least stop the possibility of hanging and help you understand where the issue may exist.
In your runner, the uncaught error handler is added to the core, passing it the loaderInfo
core = new FlexUnitCore();
core.addUncaughtErrorListener( systemManager.loaderInfo ); //or any valid reference to the loaderInfo
core.addListener( CIListener );
core.run( SimpleTest );
This would be my first/best suggestion for you. If it yields more information, we can work our way backward to find the actual root cause. If it doesn't help, we can also try more things. One more issue, the 4,1 rc2 candidate shortens the stack depth considerably from previous versions. If you aren't yet running that version, it may be worth it just for that dianostic alone.

Firefox Hangs Randomly When I Use Flash or Java
Most of the time when i open a flash or java feature in firefox it will hang, this is for all videos, flash games etc. even things like grooveshark fail to load and randomly freeze at no apparant point. i then have to task manager/end process, but when i go back firefox retrys loading the pages to freeze at EXACTLY the same point, then i repeat the process but this time firefox says the 'well this is embarrasing' tabs thing.
i have updated both flash and java, even tried an update just now, and still no fix...
not sure it is updating correctly as when i get the adobe download manager i do not see anything appear in the box where i used to see the progress for flash player downloading.Hi, I'm going to develop a 2D web puzzle game
(similar to Bust-A-Move in concept) which I would
like to submit to Yahoo! for their game's section. I
am fluent in Java and C++. I am wondering if I should
use Java or Flash to make my game? I am looking for a
language that offers smooth performance, ease of use,
object-oriented syntax, and high-level 2D graphical
capabilites. A high-level 2D game library would be a
big plus.I never heard about such a thing like a "game library". If you know Java and don't know Flash, why bother with the latter?
Also, I heard Java now compiles it's code to machine
bytecode on program startup when deployed from a web
applet - is this true? Probably not. It's either machine code or bytecode, but not both. You're thinking about the JIT compiler, that processes the bytecode only when it's needed, optimizing it context-specifically in the process. Yes, it does that.
Also, do the JDK libraries
feature hardware acceleration in Windows, or do I
need a special add-on libray to get hardware
acceleration? You should be able to answer that yourself. The chances for a general-purpose library "just for Windows" from Sun are pretty low. That's not what you want to do anyway, what you want to have is access to OpenGL e.g. There are libraries available for that. -
Firefox 4.0 hangs randomly
After i clear my cache and cookies my firefox just started to hang in random times when I'm browsing
Solved it (maybe...)
If it hangs, alt-f4 once. This should get firefox working again. To stop it hanging alltogether, go in to add-on manager and disable "conduit engine 3.3.3.6" Restart firefox and should be sweet.
I think this add-on is causing FF to hang. When you alt-f4, you're exiting from this extension, rather than FF. If you alt-f4 twice, you'll quit FF.
Good luck -
Photoshop CC hangs randomly...
I have been having a lot of problems with Photoshop CC hanging at random times, but usually when I am bringing up a dialog box, e.g. I go to Image>Image Size, the dialog comes up but I can't do anything. If I wait long enough, between 30sec to 1min, it unfreezes. I have this happen several times a day. Here are my computer specs:
Windows 7 SP1 (x64)
Photoshop 14.1.2 (x64)
8gigs of RAM
Intel Core i5-2400
AMD Radeon 6350Syrax12 is not alone.
I run PS 13.0.5 at work and PS CC at home and both software periodically experience this "hang".
I've discovered that clicking back-and-forth from PS window to the desktop (or another program's open window) reduces the time that the software freezes. The issue does not seem to be connected to a specific operation, as I've had this happen when using the clone, patch, pen and selection tools, as well as, entering the liquify environment.
Both machines that I work on are Apple iMacs:

Major problem - Process Flows hanging randomly - 11.2.0.1
Hi,
We are experiencing the following problem.
Randomly process flows sit doing nothing.
Have ran some days and totally fine. Process flows fine - each activity has all the necesassry outgoing activities.
What causes this?
If run again - fine.
How do we resolve.
We need to be able to kick off the process and leave it to run without having to check if it hanging al the time.
Any help/advice would be great.
Many ThanksHi,
I found out that wrong ordering of transitions may cause strange problems. In owb, check that the outgoing transistions of each operator are numbered sequenty (0,1,2, ...). Sometimes, some number appear twice, e.g. 0,1,1). This often happens after an existing transition was deleted.
And make sure that the "else" transition (the one without any condition) always has the highest number.

Carsten. -
System hangs randomly with hard disk problem
I got some problems with random system failures. After a couple of hours my system isn't usable anymore. Most programs freeze and if I try to start new programs, I get a I/O error message. System console writes many errors like this:
[ 3728.036223] systemd-journald[127]: Failed to write entry (18 items, 517 bytes), ignoring: Read-only file system
Then I have to reset my hardware. This problem occurs since two days. I made an update lately, but I can't remember if that problem occurred after that update.
What can cause such a problem? Where do I find relevant log files?I just checked my SSD with smartctl. It displayed a warning with a link to: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Crucia … 14544.html. That sounds like my problem. I try to update my firmware.
