SSLVPN can't browse file shares

I have recently set up my SSLVPN on my ASA 5510 running ASDM 8.0 (4). I would like to use the CIFS function for VPN Users, but I get an error when I try to click on the server share. I get error connecting to host, eventhough I am able to see the server shares.
I'm using the web browsing function of the SSLVPN. So I use the pulldown menu, select CIFS, ant type the IP of the server.
Please help,

Clientless SSL VPN serves remote users with HTTPS portal pages that interface with proxy CIFS and/or FTP clients running on the security appliance. Using either CIFS or FTP, clientless SSL VPN provides users with network access to the files on the network, to the extent that the users meet user authentication requirements and the file properties do not restrict access. The CIFS and FTP clients are transparent; the portal pages delivered by clientless SSL VPN provide the appearance of direct access to the file systems.
When a user requests a list of files, clientless SSL VPN queries the server designated as the master browser for the IP address of the server containing the list. The security appliance gets the list and delivers it to the remote user on a portal page.
Clientless SSL VPN lets the user invoke the following CIFS and FTP functions, depending on user authentication requirements and file properties:
•Navigate and list domains and workgroups, servers within a domain or workgroup, shares within a server, and files within a share or directory
•Create directories
•Download, upload, rename, move, and delete files
The security appliance uses a master browser, WINS server, or DNS server, typically on the same network as the security appliance or reachable from that network, to query the network for a list of servers when the remote user clicks Browse Networks in the menu of the portal page or on the toolbar displayed during the Clientless SSL VPN session.
The master browser or DNS server provides the CIFS/FTP client on the security appliance with a list of the resources on the network, which clientless SSL VPN serves to the remote user.
Note: Before configuring file access, you must configure the shares on the servers for user access.

  • Can't browse samba shares after samba upgrade (3.0.26a-4 - 3.0.27A-1)

    Hi all,
After today's samba update, i am unable to browse my samba shares:
    As seen in pacman.log:

    [2007-11-16 15:55] updating samba (3.0.26a-4 -> 3.0.27A-1)
Ive had this samba server running for a long time and never had any trouble. Apart from the system update i havent changed anything.
I have tried two machines to access it, a ubuntu and a windows one. The ubuntu one would mount it all right, but when you try browsing it it gives an 'Input/output error', these are the last lines found in /var/log/messages file:

The windows machine would actually show the files in the shared directory but after a very long wait. Browsing and reading files was taking such a long time that windows seemed like frozen so i had to restart.
I also tried rebooting the server but to no avail.

  • How can I migrate file shares & permissions from one volume to another on the same server?

I am replacing a storage array and as part of that process, I need to move files/folders and Shares/permissions from one Volume to another volume within the same server.
The server is Windows 2003 file server.  The file transfers are not a problem, moving all 40 shares with permissions etc. is my main concern because in order to maintain everything I need to change the drive letter of the new volume to match the old
one so that links to various resources throughout the network do not break.

    Hi,
If you want to copy files/folders from one Volume to another volume within the same server, you could use the File Server Migration Tool (FSMT) or Robocopy to accomplish your goals. The tool can move all of the files from the shares on your original volume
    to the new volume.
For more detailed information, you could refer to the articles below:
    File Server Migration Toolkit
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2006.10.utilityspotlight.aspx
The File Server Migration Toolkit (FSMT) is a free download available at:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?DisplayLang=en&id=10268
    Robocopy
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733145.aspx
FSMT and Robocopy will not copy Share permissions but only NTFS permissions. So if the drive letter will not be changed, you can backup and restore the Share permission with steps here:

  • In Adobe Photshop 6.0 how can I browse files ?

I used to have Adobe photo elements now I have 6.0 and I would like to browse photo files like I used too with elements but I can't find a way to do this. I typically have 10 to 15 photos that all need a quick edit, rename done to them and the browse feature was very handy to have.

Are you talking about the ancient Photoshop 6.0 that was released back in the year 2000?  Modern versions of Photoshop Elements arguably have more power.
It's been a while since I actively used Photoshop 6.0 but I don't believe Photoshop 6.0 came with Bridge, which is Adobe's answer to browsing in more modern releases.
What can't you do in Explorer?

When I tried to map a drive  I also got " Not enough server storage is available to process this command."
    This registry change fixed it:

I think this T61 6459 must have come with Norton anti-virus and I think I removed it when new in June.  When I started using it recently I received the "Unable to load Symevent" error opening cmd.exe and fixed it with the Symevent update...Without Norton do I even need C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVNT1.DLL..?  Anybody opine?
Anyway I can now browse my shares locally and on the intranet. :

  • Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise SP2- File Share suddently no one can access. After reboot, it is back normal. Why?

We have file server, which is using windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition, Service Pack 2. Today suddently no one can access its file share. I try to login to the server and open services, but it is so slow to respond. I have to reboot the machine. After the

    Hi,
As you mentioned, users suddenly cannot access file share, the issue most likely caused by third party software, such as antivirus software. Please refer to the thread below to troubleshoot the issue:
    File share become inaccessible

For your second question, you can Configure Automatic Updates group policy and choose
Auto download and notify for install. This option automatically begins downloading updates and then notifies a logged-on administrative user prior to installing the updates
For more detailed information, please refer to the article below:

  • File shares not be re-created when restart the Server (Windows 2012 Std R2)

    Hi Team,
We are facing below issue whenever restarting my server (windows 2012 R2 STD)
    1. File shares are invisible.
    2. Every time i need to restart server service to make file shares availability
Please look in to the above issue and revert if any suggestion.

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you create a file share under File and Storage Services but the file is invisible. If you restart the server make the file share, then you can see the file share.
Can you see the file share when you directly create in Windows Explorer? Please check if you have enabled ABE on the file share.

  • Macbook pro can no longer access windows file share.  'This file server is available on your computer'

    Hi all,
We have a consultant who uses a macbook pro to access the internet and a windows share within our network.  He has been accessing the internet and the windows share fine for over 4 weeks and overnight he can no longer access the internet or this windows share.  I have got the error down to a specific windows share which is actually a share on a DC hence the loss of internet.  When this user plugs in via ethernet he can view all network locations as expected and can access everyone succesfully bar this specific one.  Everytime he tries to access this share he gets the following error: 'This file server is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally'.  I have another macbook pro that can successfully access this share.
I have tried renewing leases, browsing the network in finder, using 'cmd + k' all produce the same message.
The user is running Mountain Lion
    Any ideas?
    Adam

Find and delete the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist file.  This is what keeps track of all your current server share mounts.  Maybe the file is corrupt or something.  Once you delete it, reboot the machine and then try again.  Don't empty the trash until you're sure everything works after the reboot.

  • How can I browse my network and play my media files?

I installed a free file explorer on my Android tablet. I can easily browse my network shares and access all my media content. I can play my movies, music, TVshows, anything by just browsing to the folder and selecting the file to play. It took me 5 minutes to figure this out on my Android tablet. I've been trying to do this for about 3 hours on my new ipad 3. I have yet to even find a file browser type app. Please don't tell me there is no way you can do this with an ipad. There is no way to play all your multi-media files with my very expensive ipad. I have so much media content I would love to access via my ipad, but I can't. Has Apple done this on purpose to lock down their devices so users can't do anything flexible? This is a HUGE difference between Android / iOS.
Also, I'm able to visit music.google.com on my Android to play my music. Besides iTunes, does Apple have a way the user can access a simple website and play their music files? I'm finding all this very troublesome and such a limited factor with Ipad. Please help!
If it ends up that Apple's brand new ipad can't easily browse a network and play media files then I'm going to return the two of them I bought. Just not a capable device if it can't do something so trivial.
    Thanks.

I'm still trying to find a way to do this simple task. Everyone has home networks now and not able to simply browse to a folder where you keep your video/music files is quite a problem with such a brand new, ultimate tablet. I can even do this with my Android phone I have. I have terabytes worth of music and movies and if I can't watch them with this ipad tablet then I for sure will return this tablet and buy Android from now on. I'm now finding out how locked down Apple products really are and how limited UNLESS you BUY an app or only go through an Apple type portal. I wonder if people know that you can't play your media you have saved at home with an ipad.

  • Anyone know of a good IOS app that can play all media files across a home network, file share on a NAS or Windows PC??

anyone know of a good IOS app that can play all media files, MKV, AVI, Xvid with subtitles across a home network, file share on a NAS or Windows PC?? I know I have BS player free for android, works pretty good on my nexus tablet.  is there a good IOS one that anyone can think of that can browse the network?
or do I have to run transcoders?
I store some files on the windows PC and some files on a linux NAS that the windows PC maps to

    I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm not affiliated w/ the developer, just a happy user that gave up fighting the apple podcast app a while ago.  I used to have a bunch of smart playlists in itunes for my podcasts, and come home every day and pathologically synced my phone as soon as I walked in the door, and again before I walked out the door in the morning.
Since my wife was doing this too, we were fighting over who's turn it was to sync their phone.
Since I've switched to Downcast, I no longer worry about syncing my phone to itunes at all.  I can go weeks between syncs.
Setup a "playlist" in downcast (ex., "Commute") and add podcasts to that playlist.  Add another playlist ("walk" or "workout") and add different podcasts to that one.
Set podcast priorities on a per-feed basis (ex., high priority for some daily news feeds, medium priority for some favorite podcasts, lower priority for other stuff).  Downcast will play the things in the priority you specify, and within that priority, it will play in date order (oldest to newest).
Allegedly, it will also sync your play status to other devices, although that is not a feature I currently use and can't vouch for.  It uses apple's iCloud APIs, so to some extent may be limited by what Apple's APIs can do.

  • How can i connect and share files from my mac book pro to my windows PC?

  • How can I map a drive to Azue file shares without user intervention or having a user logged on?

I have the file share created, and can manually map the drive. I have even created a batch file that will create the drive mapping.  One step further, I used the following regedit to create the mapped drive:
    Regedit:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    add new string value:
    value name:  MapS
    value data:  c:\azurefileshare.bat
I have a scheduled task running a batch file running the net use command, and the drive is available, and I can create/delete files, so access is not an issue.
All works fine if I log onto the server, however, what I am trying to accomplish, is to have that drive mapped upon reboot without having a user log on.   Checking the log file running the net use command when no one is logged on, I get the following:
    Status       Local     Remote                    Network
Unavailable  S:        path of file share
    Microsoft Windows Network
    The command completed successfully.
    New connections will be remembered.
Is there a way to accomplish this?  Thanks in advance.

    Hello wdick,
Thank you for your response and getting back on this issue. I am sorry that the blog that I referred to was not available. I pretty much thought that you must be referring to the ‘File Services’ which is in preview yet. I recently had another user with a similar
question but currently, the users can access the files using only 'Interactive logon'. You can refer to this link:

  • AD accounts can no longer connect to Lion AFP File Shares

I am running into an issue where AD users can no longer connect to AFP file shares. If you attempt to authenticate with one of our Lion server's local accounts, you connect without any issues, but if you put network credentials in then you get the window shake denial. This issue just came up this morning. I attempted unbinding and rebinding the machine, updating from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3, removing and re-adding share point permissions, turning file sharing off then on, and still no network account authentication.
Anyone have any advice for how to get network credential authentication to AFP filesharing working again?

You could enable the AFP server access log:
    sudo serveradmin settings afp:activityLog=yes
and then look at log at /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/AppleFileServiceAccess.log
to see if that offers any clues.

  • PPC all of the sudden will not file share, what can I do?

I have a PPC G5 OSX 10.4.11 all of the sudden I went to connect to my MacBook Pro with file sharing and I can not. I can see the MacBook in my network area and when I hit connect it lets me put in my password and then I try to click on the folder to mount it and my finder freezes. I relaunch the finder but still get the spinning wheel of death over the network window. I have looked online and all the forums say I have to reinstall my OS but there has to be another way, can anyone help? I also try to open my "file share" option on my PPC but it will not do that either. Thanks in advance.
