SSM 10.1 - Attributes X KPI

Hi SSM 10.1 Experts,
for people who have worked with this SSM 10.1 version, I want to ask you if is there any restriction about creating
attributes for KPI, the client requirement is that each KPI must contain a lot of details, I got another question about
if it's possible to create new measure units as a detail of a KPI.
Thanks a lot.

Ingrid
What do you mean attributes for KPI?
How much of the information you populate will determine how far you have progressed. For example you just create a shell of a KPI that you hold in the Library and not pull into any Context. The point of this would be to create a Placeholder so you know what you have to complete at some later stage. .
To be included in a Context you would need to attach it to metrics in the relevant PAS model using the drop downs on the KPI form but these could be Placeholder metrics if the 'real' metrics were not available.
You could then add further information as it becomes available or as you progress.

  • BI design suggestion for KPI's

    Hi all,
    Need experts help on this.
The customer has an online questionnaire that is collected across all the op. companies . The question will be an indicator that will have a value when the user fills it . It gets stored in a database. Being a question (indicator)  to the end user it will be little elobarate for e.g How many male employees working in your company (except subcontractors) or what is the production volume. The value could be 100 or 12000KG respectively. Each question will have a validity period and a indicator ID,  text in the database. This needs to be extracted into BI/BO for further analsyis based on the user responses.
My assumption would be that the indicator will become a keyfigure in BI and I assume we have restriction of 60 chars length for char and keyfigure text . Is there a way to handle this in SAP BW of is there better way in designing this in BI
Version we are going to use is SAP BI 7.01 and BO DS as ETL tool.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srini

    Hi,
Have you thought already on the solution like this:
The assumption is that you have X KPIs in the questionaries .
In BW cube you do not create X KeyFigures but only one or two (one per quantities and one per values in currency)
In the fact table in the cube ther is an indicator what kind of KPI it is (the name of the KPI). As this indicator is build as characteristic you can maintain texts and attributes of KPIs.
The fact table looks like this:
    KeyFigure1   KeyFigure2      KPI                         Customer
    100                    -                 Name of the KPI 1          A
    -                      1200             Name of the KPI 2        A
    100                 -                   Name of the KPI 3         B
    etc...........................................
Additionally you can switch on some attributes of the KPI  as navigational characteristic in the cube so you can report on this.
Such design is flexible and allows to load data without any changes in the BI even if new KPIs has been created in questionaries.
In the report you can use hierarchies or report in the standard way (with columns) e.g.
    HIERARCHY REport
    Name of KPI 1                  100
Name of the KPI 2         1200
    or STANDARD COLUMN BASED REPORT
    Customer A           KPI 1             KPI        2             KPI 3
    A                           100                 1200                  -

  • KPI creating problem (loading PAS measures)

    Hi
I have problem with defining new KPI-s:
    1. Created model with Cube Builder
         - created dimensions + measure (KPI - YES)
    2. Open model with Entry and Approval,
         - entered data
         - loaded model to PAS
    3. Open SSM admin > Library add new KPI.
         - I can see and select created PAS model, but aftet that i get message "Loading PAS Measures" and nothing happens.
         - When select Initial model from model list, I see all the measures in model and can create KPI without problems.
    Thank you
    Toomas

    Hello Isabel,
Unfortunatelly i am still unable to find solution that actually works.
    1) SSM 10, using BW Connector, bex query instead of cube, bex query allows external access.
    2) PAS model fed by simple bex query (rows: Country, columns: Amount, free chars: 0calmonth).
    3) DataView in PAS shows correct records,
    4) Created measures with *_ACT, *_TAR, *_TARDEV, *_TRD, *_TRDEV (all work fine in DataView)
    5) model connection in Administrator Strategy Management - OK, all tests passed, works fine, connected, d-base found, etc.
    6) the proper context is set (.../strategy/tools/pasquery.jsp)
Whenever i try to define a KPI with my model,  it hangs with "loading PAS measures", the JPIP session hangs (Guest user). I am unable to force JPIP to create any log messages (despite the fact that logging is on).
Sample HFPBM model works indeed and allows to create KPI's based on it.
Here's sample form XXX_both PAS log:
    exh daily period latest
    30 Sep 2010
    exh daily period earliest
    DAT080:
The EARLIEST Value Has Not Been Set
    ECHO PIPMSG_END CUBEDEF
    PIPMSG_END CUBEDEF
    across nothing
The Current ACROSS/DOWN List Must Be Corrected Before It Can Be Used
    set period default
    sel var
    6 Variables Currently Selected
    show span
    01 Sep 2010 - 30 Sep 2010

Any input on that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Central Master Data Management

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me about central master data management ?
In what way it is difference from consolidation and harmonization?
I have gone through several documents but i did n't get any idea on that topic.
If anyone have knowledge on CMDM, Please explain in their own words.
    Thanks
    Narendra

Consolidation and Harmonization procedures are very different from CMDM (central master data management), however often times CMDM is not very useful without considering the other two as well.
Consolidation essentially means creating identity around your master data across your landscape.  More specifically you want to identify duplicate records and merge them into one record.  Harmonization is the process of pushing the new cleansed data back out to your partner systems.
Central master data management is the process of creating and managing enterprise level attributes in one place.  One common mistake that people make is that central master data management means having one place to create your records and containing ALL data.  This is not correct, MDM focuses on enterprise level attributes.  In other words, which attributes are KPI's, shared across multiple processes in scope, shared across multiple systems, important for reporting, need ultimate quality, etc.  Once you have determined your data model then you begin developing the workflow (if needed) around the creation of master data.  This way you can easily keep your data clean and free of duplicates moving forward following a consolidation and harmonization process.

  • Central MDM

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone tell me about central master data management ?
Is it cenrtally carrying out of processes such as consolidation and harmonization?
I am also refering to Help.sap.com links. Please help me understand by sharing experience if anybody has wokked on such scenario.
    Thanks in advancem

    Hi,
Beofre sharing some of experiences on Centrally Managed Master Data. I'd like to share definitions of MDM basic scenrios.
    Master Data Consolidation
Importing the Data from different systems using MDM Import Manager and consolidate it i.e. identifying duplicates etc.
Involves MDM Import Manager and MDM Data Manager.
    Master Data Harmonization
Harmonization involves importing data from different systems, consolidate it and then distribute consolidates Master data to different systems.
Uses MDM Import Manager, MDM Data Manager and MDM Syndicator
    Central Master Data Management
Its a creation of Master Data in MDM itself i.e. using Data Manager and then syndicate the master records to the desired systems.
To be precise,CMDM indicates all master data is maintained in the central MDM system. No maintenance of global master data fields occurs in the connected client systems. No transactional data as well
In particular sub-tables containing customizing data (like company codes, etc.) will always need to be consolidated before the central creation scenario gets operational.
An MDM Central Master Data management is not an isolated scenario. Usually depending on the business case and on the Implementation phase the other scenarios will be necessary.
In practice more scenarios can be built from a combination of the three main scenarios(MDC,MDH and CMDM). For example some customers implement a mixture between MDC and CMDM. In that case in spite that data is being created centrally in MDM, local Master Data may still be created at the client systems, and than consolidated in MDM.
From ome of the sources i read, Consolidation and Harmonization procedures are very different from CMDM (central master data management), however often times CMDM is not very useful without considering the other two as well.
Consolidation essentially means creating identity around your master data across your landscape. More specifically you want to identify duplicate records and merge them into one record. Harmonization is the process of pushing the new cleansed data back out to your partner systems.

I am sure, this would be helpful to you and all SDNers.

  • KPI's based on attributes

I would like to create KPI's based on attributes dimension.Making a singe example based on the SAMPLE db, the formula should look like this:KPI1 = Profit->True;"KPI1" & "Profit" are Accounts."True" is a member of the attribute dimension Cafeinated linked to the Product dimension.I would appreciate it if you could give me an idea or a workaround.Jana

ok, you want:KPI1 = Profit->True; You could try something like:Fix(@withattr(Caffeinated,"==",True))KPI1=Profit;EndfixYou could also fix using the @attribute.

  • How to transport  KPI, Initiative, milestone,...from SSM2007 into SSM 7.5

    Dear all,
My current system is SSM version 2007, it doesn't have Netweaver CE installed.
So, I want to know how can we transport our existing Context, Perspective, Objective, KPI, Initiative, milestone...?
from the old version 2007 into version 7.5 that i just installed.
In SSM version 7.5 we use transport tool, but in SSM version 2007 i really don't know how.
    thanks, if any answers

    Hi Chamnap,
Because the metadata in SSM 2007 was in a file structured database (SQLite) and the metadata in newer versions are in other structures (SQL Server, Oracle, etc) with different formats, limits, etc. you won't be able to migrate all the information yourself from one version to the other one, instead you need SAP Support to migrate them for you.
There are some steps on how to do this in the migration guide.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can a target value for KPI calculation be loaded at the Result level in SSM

    Hello
we are working on a POC where we are loading data at the input level of a dimension for a measure. that measure is averaged up to the result level passing through 1 output level.
Now my problem is that we can load the target data using Entry and Approval at the same level as we load the actual data i.e at the input level. But our requirement is that the client needs to load the target values at the result level but not at the input level.. how can this be done ?

Edited by: vijay kumar on Mar 20, 2009 7:20 AM

    Hi Vijay,
If you are using the BICA to define your KPIs, you can create there Actual and Target Measures with different Dimension Consolidation options. In order to be able to also load data at the output or result level, you can choose from the dropdown the option "ENTER" as the Dimension Consolidation option for the target measure you are creating.
But if you are using the Cube Builder to create your KPIs, then unfortunately it isn't possible to define different Dimension Consolidation options for the Actual and Target measures of one KPI. In this case, and in the case you are creating your measures directly in PAS, you have to edit the CONSOLINFO document in the PAS model in order to allow for the entering of data in E&A at the output/result level.
You can set this option by locating your measure in that document and replacing the string "INPUT", at the end of that line, with "ALL". If no line exists yet for your measure (which will happen if you created the measure directly in PAS), then you will need to add it, as in the following example:
    EXAMPLE_MEASURE_ACT,consvar_pmdb.pro,INPUT
...in case the actual measure should be consolidated as SUM
    EXAMPLE_MEASURE_ACT,calcavg_pmdb.pro,INPUT
...in case the actual measure should be consolidated as AVERAGE
    EXAMPLE_MEASURE_TAR,NONE,ALL
...in order not to consolidate the target measure and allow E&A to plan on all levels of its dimensions
    Hope this helps!

  • SSM KPI weighted consolidation

    Hello,
I am using SSM 10.1 and I want to create a measure (mea3) from another measure (mea1) with consolidation among dimensions weighted by other measure (mea2).
The value of mea3 must calculated using the following formula
    mea3 = mea1 * mea2 / sum(mea2)
where sum(mea2) is the total value for all the dimensions of mea2
    e.g.
    dimension Company
              COMP1          COMP2          COMP3
    mea1     10               10                   10
    mea2     20               30                   50
    mea3     2                 3                     5
I tired to modify the CONSOLINFO document in order to call a custom made procedure but I am not pretty sure about how to do it.
    Kind regards

For a single dimension (e.g. LOCATION)
    sel LOCATION *
    set mea3 nocon
    set mea1 nocon
    set mea2 nocon
    calc mea3 = mea1 * mea2 / mea2 in COMPANY TOTAL_COMPANY full
I have not done this for multiple dimensions so you'll need to experiment with the syntax. I would guess something like.
    calc mea3 = mea1 * mea2 / mea2 in COMPANY TOTAL_COMPANY GEOGRAPHY TOTAL_GEOGRAPHY full

  • Reg:SSM KPI Drill Down (Once Click KPI need to display relevant measures)

    Dear Friends
I have the enclosed requirement. Pl. suggest proper solution.
When we drill down need to display the calculated measures of respective KPI.
Here same KPI has different measures in drill down.
Does we need to have different KPIs or can we have different measures for single KPI as per dimension member
    Pl. suggest
    Rgds
    SriG

    Sri,
Are you saying that you have a KPI that has 2 dimensions but the 2 dimensions have completely different metric calculations so that the component metrics that that are combined to make your DIMM1 have no influence on you DIMM2?
If this is the case then I think you would need 2 separate KPIs which would have different structures.
There is no problem combining multiple metrics together to create a KPI and even incorporating calculations into that combination.
To use an example from the insurance world: Combined Operating Ratio is derived by combining net claims, net commissions and net expenses, each of which is derived from multiple data elements and each of these metrics can be dimensioned by for example product, channel, region.

  • SSM KPI Security:Restricting the measures to Users

    Hi
I want to restrict only few KPIS(measures) to be accessed by a particular user. I was able to restrict only 22 measures(4 KPIs), beyond which i get an error. But this user should be able to access 20 KPIs(20*5 measures).  The syntax that i used:
    INDEX USER
         CASE USER1
              SELECT VARIABLES KPI59_ACT,KPI59_TAR,KPI59_TRD,KPI59_TARDEV,KPI59_TRDDEV,KPI20_ACT,KPI20_TAR,KPI20_TRD,KPI20_TARDEV,KPI20_TRDDEV,KPI58_ACT,KPI58_TAR,KPI58_TRD,KPI58_TARDEV,KPI58_TRDDEV,KPI57_ACT,KPI57_TAR,KPI57_TRD,KPI57_TARDEV,KPI57_TRDDEV,KPI2_ACT,KPI2_TAR,KPI2_TRD,KPI2_TARDEV,KPI2_TRDDEV
    ENDINDEX
    1. Is there any way that i can restrict the access to 20 KPIs (20*5 measures)?
I also tried the following syntax but of no avail:
For example here i tried restricting access to 3 KPIs(each of which has 5 measures:Tar,Act,Trend,Gap Performance, score)
    SELECT VARIABLES KPI1_* , KPI21_* , KPI33_*
    2. Is there a limit on the number of characters used in the select statement because of which only few measures were included in my case?

    Hello!
I would suggest in these cases to use the folowing syntax:
    INDEX USER
    CASE USER1
    SELECT VAR KPI59*
    SELECT VAR PLUS KPI20*
    SELECT VAR PLUS KPI58*
    SELECT VAR PLUS KPI57*
    ENDINDEX
When you are trying to just exclude one (or even just a few) measure(s), it will be more effective to type it like this:
    INDEX USER
    CASE USER1
    SELECT VAR *
    SELECT VAR MINUS KPI20*
    SELECT VAR MINUS KPI58*
    ENDINDEX
After creating the SECURITY procedure, run it with
    job SECURITY
command in IDQL command line. You will then be able to see right away if and where any syntax error occurs.
    Hope this helps!

  • SSM 7 - How to create more than 100 standard KPIs on admin interface?

    Good day all,
Has anybody successfully increased the the number of standard kpis that can be created in the Admin inteface to greater than 100 standard kpis?
I have followed the instructions on page 39 of  the 'Server configuration guide for SAP Strategy Management for sp 2 or higher' pdf to modify the
kpi limits but I still get a popup on the Admin interface telling me that only 100 standard kpis can be created when I try to add the 101th kpi.
btw the procedure in the pdf mentioned above refers to changing the scorecard.pro file but in this file the wording for a kpi i.e.
'&$KP99PARAM0STD' is not the found but the wording "P" is use instead of "PARAM". In the file jscorecard.pro the wording "PARAM" is used.
I have adding 100 extra parameters to these files. But I still get the restrictions of only creating 100 kpis as mentioned above.
    Please assist in this matter.
    Thanks in advance,
    T

    Hi Taariq,
In the same server config guide, please check the section about Modifying the Objective Limits. The parameter you have to change here will influence both the Objective and KPI limits. Unfortunately this is not stated in that document yet...
So in addition to the steps you have already implemented, try changing this property!

  • Scorecard and Attributes

    Hi,
I have a PAS database that is using Attributes for some of the KPI's, but when I go to the scorecard in SSM I don't see my attribute dimension in the Drill/Comparison or in the Dimension Filters. If I create an associated report then I can see the attribute dimension and use it as a "normal" dimension.
Is this behaviour in the Scorecard normal for the Attributes Dimensions in PAS? I can only use it in the Dashboards and Reports?
    Thanks in advance
    Pedro

    Hi Ricardo,
Thanks for your answer. For me, that's a limitation in the product (another one). Normally the databases are created for the scorecard, like that it makes no sense the presence of the Attributes object inside of PAS database.
If the developers want, they can change the product in order to use the attributes, in the same way they are used in the Dashboards and Reports

  • Replacimg performance Manager with SSM(SAP Strategy management)

    Hi,
Can any body tell me  how to migrate all the scorecards, KPIs  based on Performance Manager to SAP Strategy Management. Is there is a tool for that in SSM if not should those be rebuilt in SSM from the scratch.
how do we replicate everything fromPM to  SSM
From the developer perspective what will their tasks.
    Edited by: chrisbaker1999 on Jun 16, 2011 1:01 PM

    Chris,
What the External Data Loader does is to allow you to transfer your scorecard structure from Performance Manager to Strategy Management. What you are importing is the structure of Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives and KPI aspects. It allows you to put all of these in the loader, verify the structure in the loader, and then using Transport to bring into SSM.
There are additional definitions and settings that SSM requires that will have to be added after you Transport the loader's data.
You will still have to build PAS models separately, because the External Data Loader does not build models.
The Transporter tool in SSM allows you to export (and then import) your scorecard metadata from DEV to PROD. Moving between systems is a two-step process, and Transporter is step one. PAS is separate (step two) and you make a dump of the model in your DEV system, take that dump file from the Home directory in DEV and move it to the Home directory in PROD. In the PROD system you create a new PAS model frame and then load that dump into the new framework.
Each SAP customer has a super-administrator that can add users to the SAP Service Marketplace. Find out who your super-admin is and get yourself added to allow you access to those areas on Service Marketplace.
    Regards,
    Bob
