SSM 10 landscape - deploy on existing Portal?

Good day,
We are currently on SSM 7.5. deployed on a standalone NW CE 7.1 system as required.
In the near future we like to move to SSM 10. SSM10 gets deployed on a NW 7.3 system.
Now that you do not require a CE system anymore:  Any critical reason why we should not go and deploy SSM on our NW7.3 based internal Portal and so get rid of having this standalone SAP NW instance for SSM?
Many thanks,
Adriaan

Adriaan,
As long as your larger NetWeaver installation is 7.3 and has AS JAVA it should be possible to run SSM10 on it, though I do not believe SSM10 has been tested for that. You do have to be able to accomodate Cube Builder and Entry & Approval, so there will be the necessary data store and access needs, along with working with PAS.
If you are interested, you might want to ask about getting involved in Ramp Up for SSM10. This is a great opportunity to get some extra attention if you were looking to migrate sooner rather than later.
Regards,
Bob

  • Deploying an existing WAR file into the Portal

I have downloaded the Enterprise Portal and the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio (NDS) and have succeeded in creating a couple of projects of the ‘Hello World’ variety and deployed them on the Portal!  So far, so good.
The problem I have is that need to deploy on the Portal an existing JSP/Struts application of ours which is available as a Web Archive (WAR) file.
The problem is that I cannot find a way of deploying an existing WAR file on the Portal – either via a Project or otherwise.  I have found an entry in the Help files with the NDS which sounds promising, as it is entitled ‘Import a .WAR File into a new project’.  However, the menu entry it says you should use (File ‑> Import ‑> MDK: Import a web archive (.WAR) into a new project) this last entry does not exist on my installation of NDS.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Mustafa (and All) - thanks you very much for your answers, which has enabled me to make good progress.
I have created a project in the Deploy Tool, imported a simple WAR file into it, loaded to project and depployed it on my instance of the Portal - or at least I have deployed it as far as the Deploy Tool is concerned.
However, when I try to find it in the Portal in order to assign it to an iView in the Portal content, I can't find any evidence of its existence!!
As another 'tack' in the NDS I have created an 'Enterprise Application Project', into which I appear to have imported the WAR file - but I cant package this as a PAR file, which is what I seem to need to do to get it into an iView on the Portal.  To create a PAR package I seem to need to create a 'Portal Application Project' - but I can't find a way of getting the WAR file into that!!
Any further advice would be greatefully received.
Thanks for your help to date and thanks in advance for any more you may be able to give.
    Regards,
    Dave

    Hello Everybody,
I solved this error by myself as follows:
So, what I did was; I started the RemoteGui.bat (C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\SDM\program) and from the Undeployment tab, I selected “mainapp01” and “com.sap.engine.docs.examples”.
The reason I undeployed the above applications was because when I was trying to deploy the mainapp01 application, it gave an error saying that “: Cannot deploy application pcbp.com/mainapp01.. Reason: Application alias [/] for application [pcbp.com/mainapp01] already exists in the HTTP Provider Service. The application that holds this alias is [sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples “.
And, then I restarted the J2EE engine and from the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio, I again deployed the mainapp01 application on the local J2EE engine and it was deployed successfully.

Here are the steps I made untill now:
    1) Extend the ear project facets with the "Weblogic Portal Collaboration" libraries
    2) Extend the portal/web project facets with the "WebLogic Portal Collaboration" libraries
    3) Builded an ear file with ant
    4) deployed the ear file on the (remote) WebLogic server
    5) Created a Community Template using the default groupspace.ctmeta
    6) Created a Community based on the template
    All steps went just fine.
I suppose the portal project is missing some references or a proper classpath. But I do not know how to set them up, since I already added all necessary libraries and workshop updated the project files.
I can even find the gs_framework.jar under {WL_SERVER}/tmp/_WL_user/wlp-collab-portlets-web-lib/b5l7g/WEB-INF/lib
For any advice I would be grateful.
    With regards,

    Hi Thomas,
As uou have extended the portal application for groupspace functionality. At the same time you need to extend the portal domain so that at run time it can support the groupspace functionality. To do this , while creating the portal domain you need to select the Weblogic Portal ,Weblogic portal groupspace Framework and "Weblogic portal groupspace Application chek boxes.

  • How to add Jsp pages into existing portal (JDeveloper 9.0.4)

I am a jsp developer. I have to add a jsp page into existing portal. I am new to portal. Could anyone help me how to develop jsp using portal classes like PortletRenderRequest,ProviderSession and others.

Rigoberto, there should be no space between "-Xbootclasspath/p:" and the path "C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\ojdbc14.jar;C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\orai18n.jar"
By the way, one can always take a look at the logs at
      $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs
especially those files whose names start with OC4J~ if there is some wrong with oc4j processes. Those files are the default oc4j stout and sterr. If oc4j can not init, there should be some kind of error message in them.
By the way, the following line may be deleted since no property file is specified.
      <data id="oc4j-options" value="-properties"/>
    Hope this helps.

  • Regd Logoff URL (.html) - deployed into same portal server

    hi all,
we've configured spnego. and i want to redirect the logoff url to another some url with logoff.html. i've done this using some other server and it works fine.
now i want to redirect the logoff url which is deployed in same portal server itself! how do i do it?
i want http://<portalserver>:<port>/logoff.html - is this possbile please let me kknow if yes!
    tnx, JB

Have you tried using a URL alias in this case ?? Create a url alias with the name logoff (under web.xml) , create a desktop (in system admin) with a theme and framework page . Create a KM doc iview out of your html file and put it under the framework page  . Make only this iview visible . Configure main_rules file so that when you access http://portalserver.port/irj/portal/logoff it points to the desktop .
Now in browser when you type http://portalserver.port/irj/portal/logoff you will get the HTML page . I am sure this will work as i have done this before . Try this much , If this works then try placing the link - http://portalserver.port/irj/portal/logoff in config tool and see if that works which i think it should . If your client is too particular about logoff.html then you can try creating an alias with the same name and see if its allowing you to do the same . I am not sure about logoff.html as an alias but as far as my experience goes logoff with the above steps should do the trick .
Check this help link for more details - http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/6e/8590f1d6d349c9adc34c6a8085189b/frameset.htm .

  • JSR168 Portlest contents deployment on the Portal 7.01

    Hello Everybody,
I was searching on how we can integrate JSR168 application on the SAP EP 7.01 system. So far, I found out that JSR168 is available from NW CE onwards.
But same time, I saw messages stating that we can deploy WAR file with JSR168 contents on Portal and create the iView to use that application.
    Here is my question:
I was provided with WAR file containing JSR168 contents and I was told to deploy on the Portal and create the iview. I know that we can't directly deploy WAR file on the Portal.
So, what are the options available so that we can deploy and use this application on Portal 7.01 system?
If you could point to any help links or provide the steps to do it, it would be really helpful.
Will it work by creating EAR file in NWDS and add this WAR file and deploy on the server? If yes, what steps do I need to take care of while doing this?
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

    Thanks Nitesh for your response.
But before I got your response, we could create EAR file from NWDS and added WAR file manually into that EAR file and then deployed EAR file on the Portal.
But now, question is, How can we run the JSR168 portlet contents on the Portal?
Based on the comments I recieved from the team who developed portlet, this portlet application can't run using any URL. So, there is no option to create URL iview and run that application.
Do you know how we can run the JSR168 portlet application on the SAP Portal?
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

  • DynPro application compiled under SP14 and deployed to SP11 Portal

    Hello,
I have accidently compiled and deployed a DynPro application on NWDS client with SP14 to NW Portal with SP11. Now I receive an exception:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/webdynpro/progmodel/api/IWDEventHandlerId
Is there any way to retreive this jar from the SP11 server and recompile the application with it?

    HI Roy,
You question is confusing. In heading you said that "DynPro application compiled under SP14 and deployed to SP11 Portal" and in message you said "application on NWDS client with SP11 to NW Portal with SP11".
If you have compiled application with SP11 then it should be ok. But, if you have compiled with SP14 then it surely gives such error.
You can open your dynpro application in NWDS SP11 and then rebuild it and deploy on the WAS SP11. It will work.

I want to install (BI 7.0, solaris10, oracle) system on existing portal system with oracle and solaris 10 OS....
kindly let me know the how to add and create the project in already existing system for new BI system...is there any specific or need to care ful to install one more system on the same instance..
    Thanks in  advance

    Hi balaji,
If you portal version is 7 then proceed as follows.
BI 7.0 required ABAP and Java engine.
You can install the ABAP part alone and then use the existing portal that you have currently for BI also.
Apply the BI-JAVA related support packs in the portal.
Establish the connectivity between BI-EP as it is required for BEx Web application.
    For establishing the connectivity refer

  • Configuring NWDS to deploy applications in portal

What are the steps needed to configure from nwds to deploy applications into portal?

    Hi,
You have 2 configurations. Go to Windows menu and to Preferences -> J2EE engine. Give the host name and port number of the server to which you are deploying. Here port no. is the message server port no(like 39xx or 36xx).
This is required for deploying your J2ee or webdynpro applications.
For deploying portal applications, go to Windows -> Preferences -> SAP Enterprise Portal. Click on Add button. Give description, name of host, port and login id. Here port is portal port no (like 5xx00). Login id is portal user id.
Right click project -> Export -> Choose par file -> Enter the password in this screen -> Ok. Your application will be deployed.

The BSP sets a lock like "CALL FUNCTION 'ENQUEUE' " and the backend system is SAP R/3 4.7.
QUESTION: How can I get the server session to terminate when the user navigates from the tab corresponding to my BSP application to the other tabs.
Currently, the session doesn't even close when I logoff completely from the Portal.  This BSP used to be deployed to users alone within the
IE browser and I was able to handle session management using JavaScript code similar to what's in page 'session_single_frame.htm' of BSP 'SYSTEM'.   However, when deployed to the Portal, that piece
of code doesn't seem to do anything.
"Supports Portal Integration" is checked and the BSP application is stateful.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Achille

for managing the backend session, all you have to do at the BSP app level is to set the supports portal integration flag, so that it generates the domain relaxation scripts.
it (ending backendsession) is the job of portal's DSM terminator. More on this can be read from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ca/a9a7408f031414e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • Deploy questions for portal 7

    Hi, BEA portal gurus,
I have several questions about Portal web application deployment.
    1. If I try to manually deploy a new portal web application(not using the
wizard hot deployment), it seems that I have to take the following steps to
make it work. First in the console, I need to modify the application
descriptor and add a new web module. Second, I need to undeploy the whole
enterprise application and redeploly the whole application. Is there any
other easier way to do it? The redeployment of the whole application takes a
    long time.
    2. In http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs70/webapp/deployment.html#139318, it
explains a lot about web application deployment in weblogic server. In the
secion "reploying a web application in exploded directory format", it says:
****You can redeploy a Web Application deployed in exploded directory format
when using auto-deployment by modifying a special file called REDEPLOY, or
you can use the Administration Console, or you can cause a partial redeploy
by copying a new version of a class file over an old in the WEB-INF/classes
    directory.*****
I am more confused than I was before I read this document. I think the first
approach --- modify the REDEPLOY is not necessary, because when I modify a
jsp or html in my portal web application, the server can pick it up right
away. Of course, I change the jsp check interval setting. Besides, I never
get the third appoach to work. Whenever I modify the classes and copy it to
the WEB-INF/classes, the server can not do auto-redeployment for me. I have
to restart the server, or redeploy the web application module in the console
    to make it work.
Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks a lot in advance.
    Surge.

    Hi Kathleen,
Please check message server settings on
<u><i>visual admin tool:</i></u><b>server->kernel->cluster manager</b> and check <b>ms.host</b> and <b>ms.port</b> values from the table. At my first try, I thought the port number was 50000 since it was J2EE message port, after checking it in visual admin tool I realized that, it was the same port you use for local which was 3601.
If this is still not working either then do it manually as follows:
Copy your applicationName.ear file into your sever. The directory that you can find the .ear file is <b>C:\documents and settings\admin\documents\SAP\workspace\filename.ear</b>
    **Start your visual admin tool
    server->services->deploy
on the right hand side you will see <b>server</b>->webdynpro
***On the right panel click on <b>deploy&start</b>
I hope this will work for you,and please do not forget reward points if I could help you a little.
    Cheers,
    Serkan
