SSM to cProjects or xRPM integration

Hi,
Is there a way to integrate SSM with either cProjects?  If we're looking into feeding project variance information or even portfolio status from cProjects into SSM's scorecards, etc, what is the best way of implementing that?
We will go through a software evaluation exercise to decide whether SSM or the CPM modules are options, or should we just implement on BI.
Many thanks,
Josephine

Hi Josephine,
given the open architecture of SSM, there are multiple approaches how to achieve this type of integration. From a business perspective, it makes a lot of sense to track initiative-related metrics associated with the strategic initiatives defined in SSM. The important piece is to make the initiative information coming from diverse transactional systems (cPro and co.) visible in SSM as the so-called metrics (actual, target) within your SSM's model. Once you've achieved that, you can use SSM's rules engine as part of SSM's modeling capabilities to derive those useful virtual metrics (trend, score, gap persormance) based on actual/trend. This would give you the opprotunity to track the variances as you're requesting.
This is the core task which is independent of the SSM release you're currently working with. However, there are a few specifics at the beginning and the end of the integration chain which might be affected by the release level:
1) for SSM 2007 - which is the current release based on the application state as it was acquired with the Pilot company - I would advise you to use any standard integration option SSM supports. The easy way would be to let cPro generate flat files with the initiative-related metrics to be connected to SSM's model. The rest would be as desrcibed above and to visualize the metrics, you could turn the metrics set (actual, target, score etc.) into a Key Performance Indicator to be assigned to the same objective the respective initiative is assiged to (a negative variance would affect the status of the respective objective then). At the initiative level, you could then assign a URL link to your cPro app for further drilldown.
2) for the upcoming release (SSM 7.0) that is planned to be released in Q1 2008, there might be some significant improvements that would help you establish a more SAP-centric integration approach. The first planned feature might be the SSM connector to SAP NetWeaver BI. I think I do not have to elaborate on the advantages - just think of cPro extracting the project related data to BI using its standard extractors where you can directly use it as a metrics set (no more flat files...). The next significant improvement in this context might be the possibility to assign KPI's to initiatives directly to trigger the initiative status. This would reduce the necessity to make workarounds (of having to assign the variance KPI to an objective). The feature with the URL link at the initiative level for a drilldown to more details cPro remains of course in new release, too.
(of course please understand my above-mentioned forward-looking statements regarding the upcoming release are not a commitment by SAP to deliver any given code or functionality release - just wanted to share with you my personal opinion on how your question could be answered).
Thank you / regards,
Karol

  • CProjects and xRPM integration

    Hello Friends,
I am working on portfolio management(xRPM ABAP), i want to integrate capacity management & cost with cProjects.
Could you tell me the settings i needed to do for my reqirement.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Senthil.

    Hi,
    yes, the integration is permanent.
    For Example....
During transfer of work centers from Project System to xRPM, teams are created in xRPM for each of the work centre being transferred to xRPM. One can do this from SAP PLM PS by running the report RPM_WRKCNTR_UPLOAD,
which transfers work centers to SAP xRPM and uses them to create team master data. The team name in xRPM is generated using a combination of plant and work center, because the work center ID is only unique within a plant and can be used again in a different plant.
The resources assigned to the work center are used to create the resources assigned to teams in SAP xRPM. The employee IDs of resources in SAP PLM PS are used to search for business partners in SAP xRPM with identicalemployee IDs.
If a match is found, the business partner is added to theteam.
If the SAP PLM PS work center is created using organization units, the employees in the organization unit are derived during the transfer of the work center and used as the basis for creating teams. If new employees are added to the organization after you have run the report, these employees are not included in SAP xRPM system unless you run the program again. For
this reason, you should run the program regularly (for example, weekly) or schedule it for background.
    Hope it helps you.
    Thanks

  • Cprojects-xrpm integration error

    Hi
I need to integrate cprojects and xrpm (both are on different systems). When I try to do so, it gives me "No system found for alias SAP_RPM" error at source "Application".
    How do I resolve this?
    Preeti

    Hi,
in the portal, you have to define a "system" for your RPM backend system and also
define the alias SAP_RPM for this "system" in the portal. Same has to be done for
    cProjects and the alias SAP_cProjects.
    Kind regards,

  • CProjects and xRPM Testing

    Hi All,
What do we do test in cProjects and xRPM? Is it just the navigation and creating the roles, authorizations etc? or do we need to go into the backened (ECC) and validate? can someone throw some idea of testing cProjects. Also if we need to go into the backend, what are the tcodes we need to know? Someone please help me. I am a newbie.
    Regards,
    Vin

    Hi Vinu,
From an end-user perspective, cProjects/xRPM is a pure web-based application. Everything is done in the browser.
Backend transactions are mainly used by:
      - system administrators: authorizations, user accounts, monitoring (SU01, PFCG, SM37...)
      - technical experts / ABAP developers: SE80, SE11...
      - system configuration depending on your architecture and integration: HR module (PPOSE, PP01...), PS (CJ20N, OPSN, OPSI...), CRM... Actually all transactions linked to the corresponding module

  • CProjects to PS integration

    Hi
I have been working on cProjects to PS integration for client server which runs on ECC6. Both cProjects and SAP objects are on the same server.
I have done required configuration settings for the scenario, also for CO scenario maintenance view determination for my project type I have selected Multilevel controlling (Structure Element, Automatic), but still PS project from cProjects is not getting created.
Is there anything am I missing ????
    Regards,
    Niraj Sikligar

    Hi Niraj,
I checked your documet all config will correct just use following path
It important to define a project number which fits the customizing seetings of project edition mask in project
Step : Spro --> project system -->Structure -->oprative structures --> work break down structure --> @ Define project coding mask
In that check the aviaable project Number
The following characters are available for editing:
    X for alphanumeric characters
    0 for numeric characters
special characters to organize the project numbers
e.g Project coding key : SUN
           Coding Mask :-000-00-00
Then you define the project defination as : SUN-100-01-00
When you define project number in c project use this mask code ( check which mask code are define in your system and use that)
and same will be created in your PS with same as project defination
    Thanks

  • RPM-cProjects-PS Complete Integration...

We are on cProjects-RPM 4.5. We have the accounting system/PS along with CPR-RPM in the same system.
This is how we have set the integration:
    - create RPM item. This creates the cProjects Project automatically
    - setting the cProjects Project to "Flag for transfer" creates the PS Project
From here on, we need to carry fruther with the following:
    - We intend to post costs and revenues (both planned and actual to the WBS elements in PS)
    - We intend to bring these costs (and revenues) under appropriate financial views in RPM, under Financial Planning
    Please advise.

    Hi,
is there any link for  RPM-cProjects-PS Complete Integration?
    Thanks & regards

  • XRPM integration with Cprojects

    Hi,
can anybody provide the document related to XRPM and Cprojects as well as Msprojects client/server.
Please send it to theemial address bharat_suman20042yahoo.co.in.

It would be foolish to impliment anything on older versions of SAP for the fear of config/customising going forward r/3 wont be suppoted, then anyways u have to upgrade.then what?
Look at this as an opportunity to learn. SDN is there to help u anyways
btw this book below is an excellent resource to have in your case.

  • CFolders - xRPM integration

    Hello everybody,
Is it any standard integration between xRPM and cFolders (skip cProjects). For example navigate from an item directly to the 'item related documentation' in cFolders.
If there is no standard integration, is it possible via development. Any ideas will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your answers,
    Lacramioara

    Madam,
You can reach to cFolders from xRPM via cRoom.
There is an iView called 'Assign Collaboration'(com.sap.pct.cprxrpm.cfx_assign_collaboration) meant to be used in cRooms to 'talk' to cFolders.
Workset assigned to the cRoom template should (or will?) have this iView.
    thx, Mathavan

  • Resource planning in cprojects with xRPM or MRS?

    Dear Experts,
To my understanding there are four options to perform resource planning in combination with cprojects:
    1.     Do a planning in cprojects only
    2.     Use resource planning application (RPA) from SAP CRM
    3.     Schedule resources with xRPM
    4.     Schedule resources with SAP MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling)
I have a couple of questions:
    (a) Is it correct that I cannot assign resources to project roles in xRPM based on qualification matching? Is it right that xRPM is used rather for a long-term view to define the available capacity of projects/roles than assigning specific resources to roles?
    (b) How can help SAP MRS in comparison to option 1 (planning in cprojects)? I assume that I can do also in cprojects itself a qualification matching. MRS provides a more detailed qualification object to cover complex requirements, right? What else provides MRS what cannot be managed in cprojects itself?
(c ) If we want to use a staffing process were project lead and resource manager doing the staffing and have the option to suggest or reject roles, we have the option to use xRPM or MRS, right? What are the differences? In MRS we have options like using several resource managers, softbooking/hardbooking or itu2019s possible to define the workflow who proposes resources and who is doing the final staffing (project lead or staffing manager), reasons for rejections can be configured etc. Are these options in xRPM available as well?
    Thanks,
    Angie

    Hi Angie,
I have not implemented MRS or RPA so can only answer your first question. You cannot do a resource search via qualification in Portfolio Management (aka xRPM), typically you would do this in Project Management (aka cProjects) and this functionality works fine provided you have maintained qualification data for BP's and roles. Portfolio Management financial planning function can be used for a long term view as you have mentioned. However, it is also typically used to summarize and/or roll up resource demand / assignment to a bucket or portfolio level or summarize resources for multiple projects via initiatives or collections. You can also use a top down approach and at a high level plan values at the bucket level (i.e. forecasted demand or business case demand) and compare against detailed planned / assigned demand rolled up from project management.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Travel Expense - cProjects" without accounting integration

Working with cProjects 4.0 (as a stand alone system),  can I have time and effort captured against task of cProjects' project? I am looking for a scenario where a consultant assigned to a task in cProjects would capture time and also travel expense corresponding to that task (transport / boarding / lodging) expenses in CATS. Can this be done? Where can I retrieve this data from (table name)?
Accounting integration is not to be done. I am only looking for the manual entry of data from the consultant (resource) to be stored in some table in the system from which I can retrieve the data.

    Hi Swayam,
Yes, the time capture can be done without the CO-Integration. If there is no co-integraion, the travel expense to cProjects is not possible, or make no sense.
If you are interested, there are two ways by CATS Integration, with and without co-integration.
    Case A: without co integration.
    1.  Worklist (or timesheet?) in ERP will be generated according the cProject structure and custmoizing settings, which control, at which object can the confirmation done.  Such worklist does not have a co object.
    2. The user capture the time\efforts using CATS in ERP system.
    3. the confirmed time\efforts are transfered back to the cProject system, and write in the involved cProject element.
    Case B: with co-integration.
    1.  Worklist (or timesheet?) in ERP will be generated according
         - the cProject structure and
         - customizing settings, which control, at which object can the confirmation done
         - the assigned co-object of cProject elements.
The worklist has a co object.
    2. The user capture the time\efforts using CATS in ERP system.
    3. the confirmed time\efforts are transfered back to the cProject system, and write in the involved cProject element.
    4. The (actual) costs are booked at ERP system due to the co-object in worklist.
    5. Additionally, the cProject evaluation can read the actual costs from ERP system and display it.
    Kind regards,
    Zhenbo

  • CProjects -  SAP PS integration

    HI,
I am facing a problem trying to link both systems (cProjects and SAP PS) when creating an Object link (PSP element) inked to a WBS element in SAP PS. Could someone tell me the steps to be followed in order to link a WBS element in PS with a WBS element in cProjects?
    Thank you in advance
    Héctor

    Hector;
You need to configure the follow step's (I'm using SAP PPM 5.0):
    1) SPRO -> SAP Portfolio and Project Management -> Project Management -> Structure -> "Define Project Types"
Here you have to make the integration of Project Type to the Financial integration mySAP ERP.
    2) SPRO -> SAP Portfolio and Project Management -> Project Management -> Connection to External Systems ->
Integration with Other Project Management Systems
    Accounting Integration
       - Activate Integration
       - Define Object Links for Accounting Integration
       - Make General Settings
       - Define Cost/Revenue Rates
       - Replicate Cost/Revenue Rates
       - Replicate Accounting-Relevant Characteristics
       - Make Settings in ERP System
       - Make Project-Type-Specific Settings for Accounting Integration
-> Make Project-Type-Specific Settings for Accounting Integration
It's very important that you had configured cProject in SAP ERP system.
You can download the Configuration Content of cProject.
    http://www.sapprojectsystem.com/2007/08/09/cprojects-overview/
Also you need to configured the RFC conection (trx. SM59) with Basis.
    Hope this help you.
    Best regards,

  • CProjects PS/CATS integration with Rel 4.7

    Hi,
we will install cprojects 4.5. on a stand alone system. The ERP-system is still on Rel 4.7. in the next few months. Is it possible to use the accounting integration (creating automatically WBS-elements out of cprojects) and to use the CATS-integration? I have read the installation master guide for cproject, on one page it says Rel >4.6 is required and on another if you want to use CATS integration you need ECC 6.0.
Can anyone help me? What release do we need for PS and CATs integration?
    Thank's for your help!

  • CProjects and PS Integration

    Hi,
I want to integrate cProjects with PS and transfer the data at the time of "Release" of cProjects. May I know what steps I need to take to replicate the cProjects data in PS. I have already chosen transfer during "Release" in cProjects in the project type. But I am not able to link the project type with the project profile
    Thanks

    HI
Project profile for autoreplication is always CPR0001 in Standard
Also make sure you are using same project Id as needed for Mask Id in SAP PS
