SSMS 2014 crashes on startup - Windows 8.1

I had it working briefly, and I suspect some Visual Studio Nuget packages may have screwed it up.  Both SSMS 2014 and Visual Studio 2013 stopped working at the same time, although I managed to fix VS by uninstalling and reinstalling.  The same
has not worked with SQL Server.
On startup of SSMS I get the message "SQL Server Management Studio has stopped working".
The Event Viewer gives the following two errors:
Faulting application name: Ssms.exe, version: 2014.120.2000.8, time stamp: 0x5306c06d

I have also tried to install SQL Server Express but get an complaint about "Validation errors no the page", and the detail is that all the features are installed.

Thanks, but I'm not paying $499 for MS to get their software to work out of the box.
You need not pay to get the fix from Microsoft. It would be refunded back to you when case is closed. You need to tell this to engineer that the case is only to get a fix and need to be marked as "non-decrement"
But, if you need any troubleshooting assistance, then it would be a paid support.

I already searched on the web and tried these things before i was out of thoughts and wrote this message:
    - Remove Photoshop + Illustrator and ran the removal (cleanup) tool from Adobe and reinstalled everything
    - Reinstalled my graphics card (nVidia GTX 560 ti)
    - Scanned on virus and spyware with Combofix & Malwarebytes
    - Reinstalled Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable X64 11.0.61030
    - deactivated all windows services and startup programs in MSCONFIG
I also made 2 dump files from task manager
    - one from the application tab (Werfault.dmp about 90 Mb large)
    - one from out of the service tab (illustrator.dmp about 700Mb large)
If you need them or just one of them just let me know how i send them.
nothing have gave any solution at all. I ran out of ideas and forums with the same error so this is sort of my last help.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Pureweb,
Please upload the crashdumps on some file sharing website say Dropbox and share the link with us by sending a mail to "[email protected]". We will analyze the dump and will suggest you the workaround appropriately.
In parallel, please check that you do not have any 3rd Party plugins installed in it. Please try to remove them one-by-one and see which one causes the crashes or do reverse i.e. remove all the 3rd party plugins. Or Uninstall Ai and check at following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2014
Please verify that nothing is left at above location on uninstalling Ai. Then try a fresh install and see if Ai works.
Also, verify that you have the updated Wacom drivers on your system. This might be an issue with the 3rd party program as well. One of the user who was having a similar issue reported on the Ai forum that one of the 3rd party Stahl's ImageWorx DTG RIP - a program for printing to a Direct To Garment printer was causing the issue. So, you may check if the similar thing is not happening in your case.

    Dhirendra

  • Photoshop CC (2014) crashing on startup

Photoshop 2014 is crashing on startup after first time install.
Dialog appears "Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working"
It seems to happen within seconds of startup about 80% of the time. Other times it will not crash for minutes.
Anyone have any ideas. Any help is very much appreciated.

I did forward a copy of the crash dump to AMD, and yes I am hopeful that the next beta or RC will be more stable for my situation.
So, after creating a safety backup image of my primary partition, I have been trying to isolate the conditions which trigger the blue screen.
I cannot honestly say I have tried EVERY possible PS Performance combination.  But I have changed the drawing mode to basic, and unchecked "Use Graphics Processor to Accelerate Computation”, and unchecked "Use OpenCL”.   I experience blue screens with multiple performance settings, but I have not tried all of them….yet   If you could suggest any specific setting I should play with, please let me know.
I have noticed that if PS CC 2014 is started when I have no other programs running, I have not yet bluescreened. To expand on information I omitted previously, the blue screens I experience happen immediately or within seconds of PS startup, whether it is called from LR5 or started up independently. I frequently have several other programs running concurrently; MS-Outlook, Visio, Photomatix, VmWare, etc. and have not been able to replicate the crashing when no other programs are running except for Lightroom and Photoshop.  The blue screens are definitely triggered by PS startup, but if I can figure out the previously running program combinations which contribute to the crashing, I can probably modify my work habits for the time being.  That would probably suffice until the hoped-for newer version of the Catalyst software is available.

  • InDesign CC 2014 crashes on startup

I am encountering an odd error every time I try and start inDesign CC 2014.
It starts loading and then an APPCRASH error occurs. The log suggests the problem lies with PlugPlugOwl.dll
If I uninstall inDesign and remove the preferences and then reinstall I can run the program but if I quit at all or inDesign crashes, the next time I try to load it it will crash upon startup with the same error.
As you can imagine this is incredibly frustrating. As far as I know I am not using any plugins from a previous version of Adobe CS.
Every other CC 2014 program appears to run without any problems.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Are you using any third party plugins at all? Font Manager? Does it happen if you start up in Safe Mode, or if you log on with a different user account?

  • Itunes crashing on startup - Windows 8.1

Hi since upgrading to Windows 8.1 I've had nothing but problems with itunes.  Since downloading the latest Microsoft release for 8.1 my Itunes constantly crashes on startup. I've tried removing and reinstalling itunes, still didnt work. I then  tried running itunes in various compatibility modes eg windows 7 etc, still not working.  To be honest I feel this is a poor show that two major worldwide programs fail to work together on Windows 8.1.  Any help in getting itunes to work would be gratefully received. Thanks J

Have you gotten any help with this issue anywhere else?

  • Mac OS 10.10 - Indesign CC 2014 Crashing on startup

I recently updated my mac OS to Yosemite 10.10 and for the life of me I can't launch Adobe Indesign CC 2014 without crashing. I have tried removing and reinstalling the cc apps as well as attempting to replace the pref files to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I just had a similar problem, InDesign immediately and repeatedly crashing at startup, with this error message:
    Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Couldn't posix_spawn: error 35'
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
    abort() called
Gibberish to me. I found this thread and started looking for the Cleaner Tool, but then I found that Creative Cloud (the "umbrella" app) needed updating. I went along with that, and after updating everything works just as it should.
Maybe my experience can help someone else. Check to see that Creative Cloud is updated before trying anything else.

  • Skype 7.6 crashes on startup Windows 8.1

Hello, I've been having this problem for over a week, have searched these forums and have tried multiple solutions that have been posted on different threads regarding skype crashing on startup, but to no avail. When I start up skype, I get the spinning wheel and then a message that says "Skype has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly, etc." I have tried reinstalling skype, installing various versions, and nothing seems to work. I'm running IE11 with default settings and my Adobe Flash is up to date. To expedite this process, I have ran the dxdiag.exe and have attached a .zip of the file. Also, I booted my computer in safe mode and tried running Skype 7.6, and got this specific error message. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • Firefox 4.0.1 crashes on startup (windows xp)

Since I upgraded to the new firefox (4.0.1) it crashes on startup.
(By crash, i mean the mozilla crash reporter appears and goes no further)
    I am running windows xp.
Here is what i have tried so far:
    - uninstalled & reinstalled firefox
    - restart in safe mode (causes crash reporter to appear too)
    - uninstalled google desktop

Only I upgraded to firefox 4 while it was in beta and never had any problems like this. It took the final version to have problems. I truly miss my Firefox 4.
it crashes on start up with tabs open. sometimes i can tell it not to open my tabs and it'll run until I open up some tab that causes things to crash. but once it crashes it wont run until i close all the tabs. but on other occassions it just crashes.
    thanks

  • Labview 2010 crash at startup windows 7

    Hi,
Labview crashes on startup. I get this message: "Labview 10.0 Development System has stopped working." I don't get any further than this.
I have 95 computers running Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise. To install Labview on these I use the automated installer with these options: "/q /acceptlicenses yes /r:n /applyspecfile k:\zfdmsi\Labview2010\yellow1\".
This was working on Windows XP. I have tried to install Labview manually on one of the windows 7 computers and it works fine.. But I cant do that on 95 computers...
    Any ideas why it's crashing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, m: is a network drive. We have a local policy on all workstations redirecting My Documents to the M: drive.
I got the issue resolved by installing Labview 2010 SP1

  • After Effects CC 2014 crashing on startup

I downloaded the trial version of After Effects. By downloading it, it activated a 30-day trial. However, every time I try to start up the program, it gives me an error and crashes. I read on the forums issues about fonts and OpenGL, but it doesn't even give me detailed information on the crash. Anybody able to give me a bit of an assist on this? I use Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6 on my PC. I primarily use Sony Vegas for my video work, however I was sent a file on AE and rather than get in contact with the client to have them resend it in .veg, I figured I could download the trial and open it there. No such luck. I've finished the work, but now this AE issue is just bugging me. I am interested in trying it, but if I can't get into the trial, it really curbs my interest in the program.
What exact version of After Effects? Include the minor version number---e.g., After Effects CC (12.2.1) or After Effects CS6 (11.0.4). Do not just say "After Effects with the latest updates" or "After Effects CC"; give the specific version number.
After Effects CC 2014.2 (13.2)    (Creative Cloud says it is up to date, so I'm assuming it is 13.2)
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
Yes. Creative Cloud says After Effects is up to date.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".

Do you have Service Pack 1 for Windows 7? It's listed in the system requirements for CC 2014. If you don't have SP1, AE won't run.
That GPU sniffer error message is usually what happens. This should be a simple fix! Of course, you should always take the normal precautions when updating an OS, but still...

  • Illustrator CC 2014 Crashes on Startup

    Hi,
I recently updated to Illustrator CC 2014, along with other Adobe programs such as Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign etc. All other programs launch fine, but Illustrator always crashes when initialzing a plugin or loading the font library. I'm unsure if it's definitely linked because it's not always the same plugin being loaded when it crashes. However, I deleted the plugins folder and the program loaded correctly, but I obviously couldn't do anything inside the program.
I'm running Windows 8 64 bit, and the programs are all installed on a SSD. I've tried compatibility mode, running as administrator and reinstalling the program. If I can't fix this issue soon I'm just going to revert back to a previous version.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Audemus,
You may try to reinstall, using the full three step way:
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

svchost.exe_stisvc is not part of Photoshop as far as I know.
Is your Windows up-to-date?  In Control Panel / Windows Updates / Check Updates, are there any updates available?
Open an Administrator CMD prompt and try chkdsk /f to check for disk errors (you’ll want to reboot to check yoru C: drive)
Open an Administrator CMD prompt and try sfc /scannow
