A particular network user can't login to a mac in a classrom but other network users can. Then the network user can login to other identical macs in same classroom. Anyone seen this before? It has happen twice. Two different teachers in two different classrooms entering the correct user name and passwords and computer won't allow them to login. Then they try in different computers in same classroom and have no problem login.

Yes. I can login with a test user. And any other network user can login as well to this particular mac. Actually the mac has bootcamp and boots into either mac or windows. The same user entering the same login username and password can login into the windows side, but not the mac side.
I had this same issue last semester in another classroom, another mac and a different teacher. This summer I reformatted and imaged that mac and I asked that teacher to login today to that reimagened mac and she had no problem today doing so.

  • Screen is "half out." Anyone seen this before, anything I can do?

    Hello,
I am a first time contributor to the Apple Support Communities. I have a 2006/2007 era MacBook pro that the screen is half out. I would like to get this fixed for my wife to use as her desktop, but I would like some guidance before I take it into a Genius Bar. Has anyone seen this before? Is it an easy (inexpensive) fix or is it not worth it (given the age of the machine). Any help would be beneficial. The machine runs awesome, I can use it, as long as i use the top 1/3rd of the screen.
    Thank You,

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Backing up, Updating and Restoring >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • My iPad will not connect to a computer with the cable which  means no updates or down loads. I have tried new cables and different computers. Has anyone seen this before?

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Possibly. Do you have other devices and will they connect?
One possible thing that it could be is that the USB port on your iPad has gone bad. It happened to mine. Couldn't sync, could barely charge (it said 'not charging' even when plugged into the wall)
I'd take it to the apple store, see if they can replicate it, and if they can, then they can diagnose it. Just back it up before you go, in case they do exchange it.

  • Need help with Backup problems - anyone seen this before?

I am experiencing 2 primary problems:
    1) When attempting a recent backup with HotSync on my desktop PC (Treo 700p, HotSync Manager v. 6.01, XP): I hadn't backed up for a few weeks, and this time it crashed sometime during the backup of the Calendar (and this behavior is repeated).  So I then unchecked the backup of Calendar, but then it just hung on Contacts for about 15 minutes, so I realized it wasn't doing anything anymore (I have lots of contacts, but not not 15 minutes worth).  At this point I gave up, but I obviously need to figure out how to make HotSync work again.  Any ideas?
    2) (not sure if this is the forum to address this): When using Backup Buddy v. 2.04 a couple of days ago, every time I tried to backup, it would get maybe 1/5th into the backup and crash and restart.  I figured out in short order that Address.DB is what was causing the crash. [I tried to e-mail the file so I could examine it and save it, but just attaching it in SnapperMail made the device crash].  So I took the chance of deleting the Address.DB (as it seemed small and didn't appear to contain any backup information), and it looks like all of my information was retained.  My question here is: two times since the initial problem, something has recreated Address.DB, which again causes the 700p to crash, so I have had to delete it again.  So when is this file being (re)created, and what is the purpose of it?
An additional (minor) difficulty that I've had occur on a couple of occasions: After a recovery (where my BackupBuddy information was more current than my HotSync data), I restored, and all the calendar entries were double - 2 identical entries adjacent to one another. Has anyone seen this?
    Thanks in advance -
    B

  • MacBook Pro having weird black noise on the screen.  Anyone seen this befor

So I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro 2.2 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of ram. Recently the DVD drive has died on it but more importantly it has started having weird black things on the screen and it will freeze right up. It has been doing this more and more. It will do it when I have had it running for a long time and everything is hot, it will do it when It has just been sitting there in a screen saver doing nothing, and it will do it when I have just had it on for a few min right out of my bag. I am running Snow leopard on it. I have never seen a machine do this before in my 10 years of having Apple Laptops. Anyone have a similar experience? I have a little video of what it's doing on youtube.

  • It looked like a small bug going up and down on my screen then it stopped about 12 o clock a quarter of the way from the top, now it seems to be burned in to the inside of the screen, anyone seen this before?  And what can be done about it,  macbook pro

I have what looked like a small bug that ran up and down the screen and then sudenly stopped in center upper half of screen and now appears to be burned in to the inside of the screen, anyone had this probelm before and what can be done about it?

Thanks for the suggestion, the next step was to call Apple, who gave me a claim number, which I discovered you must have to get anything done with them.  They refered me to a Apple store or repair center, after some reseach took it to the Computer Store in Mobile, Alabama and they were excellent.  They took pictures of the screen with bug submitted it to Apple who denied the claim but they kept kicking it up to the next level and finally Apple agreed to sent new cover.  The Computer Store had the cover the next day, they changed it out and now I am bug free.  If your in the area of Mobile Alabama you can feel good about getting help from the Computer Store.  For the two folks that responded to my note, Thank You, good comments and good advice.

  • TS3276 "message failed because you have exceeded your sending limit."  Has anyone seen this before & what does it mean?

What does this mean?  Has anyone seen before?

Most e-mail servers impose limits on how many messages you can send per day and how many different e-mail addresses you can send messages to per day. This is a measure to prevent spam, and you're unlikely to hit those limits unless you're sending messages to a very large group of people. Generally, those limits are somewhere in the hundreds.
If you haven't been sending that much e-mail, or to that many recipients, then your e-mail account may have been hacked and used to send spam. See:

  • Strange Aperture behavior... anyone seen this before?

I recently purchased and installed Aperture for my MacBook Pro. My photos reside on an attached (via Firewire) Western Digital MyBook external (originally used on a PC). Its volume name is "My Book".
In setting up Aperture, I pointed it to various folders on the drive and had them imported into the library managed by reference. Everything seemed to work beautifully.
Yesterday, I detached the drive and took the laptop to school. When I returned home, I hooked up to the drive again only find that I can no longer use the Adjustments pane. It stays grayed out and inactive with a continuous "Image Loading" warning at the top of the pane. Each photo also has a yellow warning triangle with seeming to indicate a broken link.
When I bring up the Manage Referenced Files dialog all I see is a volume called WINXP, which is the name of my Boot Camp partition. The directory path is the correct one were it looking at the MyBook drive. When I select the Boot Camp partition and hit the unmount button, despite saying WINXP, it does unmount the WD MyBook external drive. Does that make sense? What I expect to see is the MyBook volume with that same directory path. The path indicated doesn't exist on the WINXP partition which is why Aperture can't find the files.
Interestingly, the MyBook external works flawlessly through the Finder.
It's confusing. It's like Aperture thinks the Windows partition is the MyBook volume or vice versa. Rebuilding/Indexing the database didn't help though it ran without errors.
Has anyone heard of this kind of problem before? Got a solution? Suggestion?
    Thanks!

Indeed, I have been having the same issues and am not happy with other aspects of Aperture.
I find it very time consuming and nearly all of my images have yellow caution icons on them.
When I click on My BOK to print, for exaqmple, I get an error message with a dialogue box indicating that these file are refernced and have no reference?????

  • I have no volume anyone seen this before

Have no volume at all  help?

    Hello Strangers1,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning audio issues:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

  • I have an issue where the calendar server on my 10.8.4 machine all of a sudden got hung.  I get a message that says "Operation:  CalDavAccountRefreshQueueableOperation".  It is currently stuck in a "STARTING" status.  Has anyone seen this before?

I have tried repairing permissions.  I have tried stopping the service both from the Server app and terminal.  I have searched and searched online and can't figure this out.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,
    Nathan

  • Samsung S5 camera images have vertical bars/gradient in them. Has anyone seen this before?

Low light conditions produce vertical bars in the image, see attached.
I downloaded another camera app and it too produces these bars.
It would seem that there is a hardware issue with the sensor.
In outdoor images these are not noticeable but I believe they are still there since as the light increases they get lighter. At some point the gradient simply blends together when there is enough light.
This is my second phone in less than 10 days, it seems getting a fully functional S5 is difficult.

        Hello pf1234,
Having a camera on your smartphone that doesn't work is understandably frustrating but we will work to get this issue resolved for you. Are you having the same issue with the front facing camera? Let's try to reset the camera app to see if it resolves the issue http://vz.to/XMEq5K Please let us know how it turns out.
