SSRS 2008 R2 Bing Maps

When I try and use Report builder and Bing Maps Layer I get the below error message.  I talked to my network guys and they said I am not being blocked.  Any clue what my issue is?

Hi,
Do you receive the error when you run the report in Report Builder 3.0 or open the report in the Report Manager?
Generally, if the report cannot connect to the Bing Map server, the error message “The remote name could not be resolved: ‘dev.virtualearth.net’” will be
displayed on the map layer. Can you see the message?
If so, please check your LAN Settings of the server. For example, if you need to access the Internet through a proxy server in your company, please enable it by the following steps:
1.
Open the Internet Options of Internet Explorer.
2.
In the Connections tab, click the LAN settings button.
3.
Check the options in the Proxy server section and type in the Address and Port.
We can also configure the proxy server only for the Report Server. Please backup and open the web.config file of Report Server, and then add the following settings between </runtime>
and </configuration> node.
<system.net>
<defaultProxy enabled="true">
<proxy bypassonlocal="True" proxyaddress="http://<ProxyServer>:<port>" />
</defaultProxy>
</system.net>

  • Bing Maps in SSRS behind proxy

    Hi guys,
This is in regards to showing Bing maps in SSRS 2008 R2 behind a proxy. The server in question does not have access to DNS so I have entered a hosts entry for dev.virtualearth.net and also
set the web.config file to use the proxy. The map is now displaying a 404 for each tile rather than cannot access dev.virtualearth.net. Please can you advise what other changes I would need to make to get this working.
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
Actually, if you want to display Bing map on the server report behind a proxy, you have to configure proxy server for Reporting
Services. Otherwise you will receive this error message “ The remote name could not be resolved:’dev.virtualearth.net’”, I think the root cause of your issue is incorrect method for setting proxy server, Please follow below steps to
    reset it:
    1. Find out web.config file at this location: <drive name>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.<instance name>\Reporting
    Services\ReportServer
    2. Add the following xml fragment between </runtime> and </configuration>node:
    <system.net>
    <defaultProxy enabled="true" useDefaultCredentials="true">
    <proxy bypassonlocal="True" proxyaddress="http://<Your Proxy Server>" />
    </defaultProxy>
    </system.net>
Note: If your proxy server is
    itgproxy.redmond.corp.microsoft.com, just type in proxyaddress="http://itgproxy.redmond.corp.microsoft.com" />
    3. Save the file, and click the server report, I think you could see the Tile layer.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS Bing Maps - Does it passes data over the internet

    Hi,
I am planning to display sensitive data related to clients on SSRS Maps for location based reporting.  I would like to know if SSRS maps (Bing Maps) internally makes API calls to external servers for location based data. Does SSRS maps send data, used
to render bubbles/markers on the map, across the network to external servers?
Thanks for your help and time in advance.
    Cheers!
    A**LE

Yes, yes it does. It'll send your personal credit card information, and shoot your dog as well.
No. Of course not. The bing maps are little more than images rendered at the appropriate co-ordinates on which you overlay data. You are responsible for positioning and providing that data.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 date parameter not working all the time

In an SSRS 2008 r2 report, I am not getting some records selected when I run the report in the ssrs 2008 r2 report.
However when I run the sql in ssis manager, the records are selected. Thus I am trying to determine why some of the records are not selected whe running the ssrs report.
In the table called 'transactionfile', the fields that I am trying to determine where there is a problem is the following:
    SchoolNumber (varchar(50),null), and
    TransactionPaymentDate (varchar(50),null).
Examples of data are SchoolNumber = '121' and TransactionPaymentDate = '04162014'
In the SSRS report, the parameter value for @SchoolNumber is text and the parameter value for @EndDate and @StartDate is date/time.
The following is the query I am having a problem with:
    SELECT  s.SchoolNumber,
          CONVERT(smalldatetime,substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '-' + substring      (TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '-' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2)) as        TransactionPaymentDate
     from [eF].[dbo].[transactionfile] f
           INNER JOIN
        [eF].[dbo].schools] s
        on rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) =rtrim(ltrim(f.SchoolNumber))
     where  rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) = rtrim(ltrim(@SchoolNumber))
          AND
          Cast(Right(TransactionPaymentDate,4)+Left(TransactionPaymentDate,4)  as Date)
            >= @StartDate
         AND
       Cast(Right(TransactionPaymentDate,4)+Left(TransactionPaymentDate,4)  as Date) <= @EndDate
Thus could you suggerst what could be wrong when selecting some records by date?

First check whether transaction payment date has 8 digit or not. In yes then try the below query,
    SELECT s.SchoolNumber,
    CONVERT(smalldatetime,substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '-' + substring(TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '-' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2)) as TransactionPaymentDate
    from [eF].[dbo].[transactionfile] f
    INNER JOIN [eF].[dbo].schools] s
    on rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) =rtrim(ltrim(f.SchoolNumber))
    where rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) = rtrim(ltrim(@SchoolNumber))
    AND
    cast(substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '/' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '/' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2) as date) between @StartDate AND @EndDate

  • Issues passing drillthrough parameters from a multi-level tablix in SSRS 2008 R2

    Hello,
I am really struggling with trying creating a drillthrough report that starts with a matrix (tablix)  and passing those  parameters. I am using SSRS 2008 R2.
    Here's my scenario:
I have a matrix that has mulitple levels where you can drill down. Here an example with all the levels open:
    Active
    Term
    Leave
    Total
    128
    88
    121
    United States
    110
    80
    85
    New York
    65
    30
    57
    Manhattan
    10
    6
    9
    Buffalo
    20
    23
    4
    Albany
    35
    1
    44
    Texas
    45
    50
    28
    Dallas
    40
    30
    22
    Houston
    5
    20
    6
    France
    18
    8
    36
    Centre
    18
    8
    36
    Blois
    7
    2
    8
    Druex
    6
    1
    15
    Tours
    5
    5
    13
I want to drillthrough to another report - Detail Report. As I understand it, I would click the 65 for New York and I would see the detail for the 65 Active people. If I click the 2 under Blois, I would see the 2 terminated people in Blois. My understanding
for this to work, the Detail Report would need a a parameter for each of the level possibilities in the matrix that I could click: Country, State, City as well as the Status (Active, Term, Leave).
While I understand about passing parameters, what I don't understand is how to pass the parameters if they are blank. Let's say I clicked 65 for New York, I would need to pass State = New York  Status = Active. But the remaining parameters (Country
and City  would be null). I know Country doesn't need to be Null in this case.
My Detail Report has the parameters defaulted to Null, but whether I put the parameters in a Filter for the dataset or in the query itself, I cannot get it to ignore the Nulls.
As a crazy work-around (I think) I can put in the Where of the query  something along the lines of: this:
            and (a.Country in (@paramCountryCode) or NULL  in (@paramCountryCode) )
and I would need to do that for each parameter. Usually I have to use 'ALL' instead of NULL, I'm note sure why.
Additionally, in the Report Action of the Main Report, I need to pass those parameters for each level and their Status. I am also not clear whether or not I need to put in all the parameters on each of the levels (Country, State, City) of the matrix. And if
I do, do I need to make the expressions an IIF statement stating whether or not they are In Scope?
All the examples I was able to find, only showed one or maybe two parameters being passed. Doing the way I am trying, seems convoluted, error-prone and tedious. I really hope that I am wrong.
Is there a better way to approach drilltrough reports from a matrix when there are multiple levels?
    Thank you for the help.
    ~J

    Hi Jenna_Fire,
According to your description, you have a matrix contains total for each group on each level. Now your requirement is, when you click on any number (data field or total), it will go to the detail report which returns all the detail information of the people
within the group scope. For example, if you click on the total of Active users in United States, it will return the detail information of Active users in New York and Texas. Right?
In this scenario, we should set the parameter (@Country, @State, @City) allow multiple values in both main and detail report. And in Default Value (@Country, @State, @City), query out all distinct values. In the textbox which contains
those total values, when set use these parameters to run the report, we only need to pass the parameters of parent groups. For example, if we click on the total of Active users in New York, we only need to pass Country, State, Status to detail report, and
in the detail report, the City parameter will use all distinct values (Default Values) because we don't pass the City parameter. We have tested this case with sample data in our local environment. Here are steps and screenshots for your reference:
    1. Create parameter Country, State, City and Status in both main report and detail report. Set both Available Value and Default Value get values from query (Create a dataset for each parameter, use "select distinct [column] from [table]" as query). Set allow
multiple values for parameter Country, State and City in both reports.
    2. In corresponding textbox, pass appropriate parameters in go to report Action.
    4. Filter data in detail report (in where clause or using filters).
    5. Save and preview. It looks like below:

  • Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs 2008 R2

Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs
    Hi,
Am using more than 100 subreports in my main report using ssrs 2008 R2.
And given conditional Visibility in sub reports based on the Parameter selection in main Report . But the performance is very very slow in main report.
While selecting single sub report executes in seconds. The same report in main report executes in hours.
    According to my view,
All the Sub reports executes and finally conditional visibility is working. Can we Control executing sub reports?
Regards, Gayathri devi P.S. : Please click the 'Mark as Answer' button if a post solves your problem! :)

    Hi,
I think the time to render 100 report sure will be long time and the main report want to render those reports.
So first why you do not separate those report on many reports for different purpose.
second if this is a dashboard report you may use many matrix in the same report and the parameters passed by default or based on expression.
I really hope if you make your report as dashboard report, many matrix many parameters render it once. As I remember I think SSRS will try to execute your
DataSets in parallel which will reduce your waiting time.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Calculate percentage between two rows in a matrix report with a single row group in SSRS 2008

I need your help. I have a matrix report in ssrs 2008. The report contain one field value column and one value column. I need to calculate a percentage for two values. For example : row 1 : Discount 10 Row 2 : Sales 100 Result : 10/100. I have only one
row group, I need to have a condition where Field = Discount % on Revenue then Discount/Total Turnover. Because of the  grouping for total, I am not being able to calculate the %, its just totalling the % discount. Kindly refer to the snapshot of the
    report.

Hi Thanks a lot for your answer, but unfortunately it didn't work, the report is reading from a stored procedure which I have unpivot to convert all columns into rows, so that's why Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover is found in one column.
So the Field!Col.Value is the Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover. I have tried to change the code to
    "=SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Discount",Fields!value.Value),0))
    /IIF(SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)) = 0 ,
Nothing,SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)))" but to no avail. Any other suggestion will be most welcome.
    Thanks.
If everything you're getting from stored procedure then you need to calculate and bring the value from there itself.

    Hi Bitia,
As per my understanding, after you add Item field to the report, it does not calculate total of matl group, right? If that is the case, please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:
Modify the dataset used to retrieve data, delete the fields will not be used in the report.
Run the query in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to make sure that there is data for matl cost group.
Make sure that row group and totals are correctly added.
In addition, do you want to add Finished date to page header? If that is the case, we can use ReportItem to achieve the goal. Please refer to the following steps:
In design surface, right-click the report and click Insert, then click Page Header.
Drag Text Box from Toolbox to page header.
Right-click inside of Text Box, then click Expression.
In the expression text box, type the code like below:
    =ReportItems!FinishedDate.Value
If the problem remain unresolved, please provide the screenshot of the report in design view, the following screenshot is for your reference:

I have changed a RSReportDesigner.config to add a tab delimited option for report export, but it is not working correctly in vs2008/vs2010 report designer. I get a duplicate of CSV (comma delimited) in the export dropdown list.

    Hi Dave0323,
According to your description, you want to export your report into TXT file and change the delimiter to be a Tab. Right?
In Reporting Services, when exporting to a CSV file, we can change the default field delimiter to any character that we want, including TAB, by changing the device information settings in the configuration file. For example, to use TAB,
update the FieldDelimiter setting to <FieldDelimiter xml:space="preserve">[TAB]</FieldDelimiter>. And we can change the FileExtension to be TXT if we want to export it into a TXT file. So in this scenario, we just need to modify the configuration
    file like below:

    Hello Julie,
You mix up Version of Visual Studio, Reporting Services and Report Definition; all those products have Independent Version numbers and are not related to each other.
Important are the Versions of used SSRS and BIDS, the plugin for Visual Studio. By the Version of Report Definiton you have create a Report with BIDS 2008R2 or SSDT = SQL Server Data Tools; see
    http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/reportdefinition/
Are you sure you have SSRS 2008 R2 (in post subject you wrote SSRS
2008)? If it's SSRS 2008 then you really can't deploy the Report to SSRS, you would have to use BIDS 2008 to create the report. Check the Version of SSRS or use "Report Builder 2.0", you can start it directly from "Report Manager"
    URL.

Nope. I dont think you would be able to open a higher version report on a lower versions client tool as it is. However you can do this small workaround and make it work most times
    http://usmantjiudri.wordpress.com/2009/08/18/converting-ssrs-2008-r2-rdl-back-to-ssrs-2008-version/
The inverse would always work fine as reports gets auto upgraded.

  • Firefox (12.0, Ubuntu) freezes on Bing maps

    Hello,
When I try and use Bing maps (maps.bing.co.uk, I live in UK), firefox gets very slow and freezes after about 3 zoom or move operations. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration - with accel on, the whole X server freezes, without it just firefox.
I've also tried turning network.prefetch-next off, to no avail.
Safe mode does not help either.
I know there's a bug report at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=717521 but it's marked as fixed.
I recently installed chromium and it can handle Bing maps on my system with no problems.
    System:
    IBM thinkpad Z60m / Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) / 2GhZ processor, 1GB RAM / Kernel 2.6.32-41-generic, Gnome 2.30.2 / Firefox 12.0 (Ubuntu)

hello, i'm not sure if i'm reading the bugzilla entry correctly but the target milestone is set to mozilla13 (=firefox 13), so maybe it will just finally be fixed with the next update?!

We have restored our SSRS 2008 R2 from one server to another. The original server was in US locale/culture. The new server was in UK locale/culture, when the restore happened. However it should have been in US locale/culture. We have made this change and
    new reports work OK.
However existing reports (i.e. saved by a user) are still trying to use the US dates in a UK format and as a result throwing a date cant be below 1753 error.
Has anyone seen this issue before or have any idea what we need to do to fix it?

  • How to add a bing map with pins to a Siena Project

    Hi
I just want to add a bing map with the current location and a few nice pins of some nice locations around me. Comming out of a Excel file. Potentially also draw some routing lines into the bing maps.
Any ideas how I can accomplish that goal?
    Thank you in advance

yes you can (there is actaully one on the map, blue square)
    The syntax is listed on
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701724.aspx
You will however have to build the correct string to included in the image source (which you can do in the source excel or in runtime in siena)
Concatenate is suitable to do that.
    http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Imagery/Map/Road?pp=47.638197,-122.131378;;1&ms=350,500&key=KEYHERE
the PP indicates the pin actually and the bing map autocenters on that. You have several options listed on the webpage listed above. It's a question of the one fitting you best.
Please note that your bing key is yours so you need to hide it well enough.
