Ssrs 2008 r2 writingmode=rotate270 font is bold on report server

In a ssrs 2008 r2 report, I am using writingmode=rotate270 to change the direction of header columns for detailed data on the SSRS report. The font in visual studio is 'light'. However when the report is deployed to the report server, the font weight is
bold.
Thus can you tell me if there is a workaround to make the font not bold when it is executed on the report server? If so, can you tell me how to solve the font problem so the font is not bold when writingmode=rotate270 when executed on the report server?

Hi Wendy,
I am able to reproduce the issue in both SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Reporting Services and the latest version of SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 CU10, Build number 10.50.4297). In addition, based on my test, it is fixed in SQL Server
2012 SP1 Reporting Services.
To work around this issue, you can place images in the column header cells and make the rotation of the text in the images. Besides, I would suggest you submitting a wish at

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 keep objects in fixed locations when report is executing

In an exisitng SSRS 2008 r2 report there are currently 5  tablixes. Right now in one of the tablixes, I am adding rectangles and textboxes to the one tablix. As I am adding these items to the SSRS 2008 r2 report, new items that I am adding to the report
do not stay where I placed them originally. In addition, some of the other tablixes are moving around (floating).
Thus may questions are the following:
    1. In one particular tablix, is there a way to anchor the rectangles and texboxes (keep them from floating)? If so, would you tell me how to keep fixed point locations?
    2. For all the tablixes on the report, is there a way to keep each tablix from flaoting (staying anchored to a fixed location? If so, would you tell me how to keep the various tablixes from floating?

    Hi wendy,
Just as you said, the location of report items would be changed depends on the data in other items and page size. There are no such property that can directly make an item stayed at a fixed location. While, if the issue is caused by the page size, we can
change it to an appropriate page size. If the issue is caused by other item data, we can try to use a rectangle to contain those items. Because rectangle is s object container, it can keep objects together on a page and control how object move and push each
other. For more details, please see the following document:

  • Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs 2008 R2

Controlling execution of subreport on main Report in ssrs
    Hi,
Am using more than 100 subreports in my main report using ssrs 2008 R2.
And given conditional Visibility in sub reports based on the Parameter selection in main Report . But the performance is very very slow in main report.
While selecting single sub report executes in seconds. The same report in main report executes in hours.
    According to my view,
All the Sub reports executes and finally conditional visibility is working. Can we Control executing sub reports?

    Hi,
I think the time to render 100 report sure will be long time and the main report want to render those reports.
So first why you do not separate those report on many reports for different purpose.
second if this is a dashboard report you may use many matrix in the same report and the parameters passed by default or based on expression.
I really hope if you make your report as dashboard report, many matrix many parameters render it once. As I remember I think SSRS will try to execute your
DataSets in parallel which will reduce your waiting time.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • Report created in SSRS 2008 is not able to upload in 2008 report server

I have created a report in SSRS 2008 version. Our reporting server is 2008 R2. I'm getting the error given below while uploading the .rdl file to report server.
The report definition is not valid. Details: The report definition has an invalid target namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/reportdefinition' which cannot be upgraded.
Then I've checked the code of the solution and it is created in 2008. It is given below:
" Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 10.00 # Visual Studio 2008 ........."
Also, I've checked the code of .rdl file but that made me confused. It shows that the file is created in 2010.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Report xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner" xmlns:cl="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/componentdefinition" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/reportdefinition">
Visual studio 2010 is also installed in my system. Also, I have noticed that even if we try to open a report then by default it is showing data tools option.I have tried multiple times to create report in 2008. But, still the same result. Also, I could find
that ,the report will be in 2008 till the creation of data source. The report will be converted to 2010 after creating data set. I have been creating shared dataset and I was getting the above issue. Then I have tried by not creating a shared dataset and
directly creating dataset in the report data and it has been created as 2008 report. I was able to upload this report to report server 2008R2.
Can any of you help me to find why the report is created in 2010 while creating shared dataset?

I have created a report in SSRS 2008 version. Our reporting server is 2008 R2. .

    Hello Julie,
You mix up Version of Visual Studio, Reporting Services and Report Definition; all those products have Independent Version numbers and are not related to each other.
Important are the Versions of used SSRS and BIDS, the plugin for Visual Studio. By the Version of Report Definiton you have create a Report with BIDS 2008R2 or SSDT = SQL Server Data Tools; see
    http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/reportdefinition/
Are you sure you have SSRS 2008 R2 (in post subject you wrote SSRS
2008)? If it's SSRS 2008 then you really can't deploy the Report to SSRS, you would have to use BIDS 2008 to create the report. Check the Version of SSRS or use "Report Builder 2.0", you can start it directly from "Report Manager"
    URL.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 - Column Headers of a tablix visible while scrolling - Then the column headers not visible on 2nd page onwards for PDF EXPORT. it's vice versa. Hence it is possible to provide both at same time ?

    Hi,
    I am using SSRS 2008 R2.
I have two TABLIX in a report.  One is TABLIX with row/clumn grouping. 2nd one is flat view.
Here each tablix is dispaly it's data on single page for each.
My Requirement on First TABLIX is:
         1. I have to make column headers visible on scrolling down
         2. Export to PDF - column headers must be visible on all the pdf pages  for same tablix data.
But ... either one is achieved at my end.
so ... any suggestions please to achieve both at same time.
    thank you in advance.
    best regards,
    venkat.

    Hi G.V.Naidu,
According to your description, the first tablix is matrix to use display data.
In SSRS, if we want to fix matrix header visible while scrolling and repeat header columns on each page, we can select the corresponding option to enable this function. Please refer to the steps below:
    1. Right click tablix, and select Tablix Properties.
    2. Select “Keep header visible while scrolling” and “Repeat header rows on each page” to enable these function.
If we are use table to display data, please refer to the article about Repeat Header / Keep Header Visible in Tables.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertbruckner/archive/2008/10/13/repeat-header-and-visible-fixed-header-table.aspx
If there are any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 Report parameters have default values and report not to auto run

Hi, I am using SSRS 2008 R2 one of my requirements for a Report is all the parameters have default value and I do not want this report to auto run when users open this report. I can create a dummy hidden parameter to break the auto run for this
report. But I am looking for solutions other than that.
    Thanks in advance..........
    Ione

    Hi lone,
According to your description, you have a report with parameters. Now you want you report not to run automatically with your parameters default values. Right?
In Reporting Service, if you have parameters with default values in your report, your report will always auto run with these default values. We can say these default values are used for report running initially. So for your requirement, if you really need
to see your default value before the report running, the best workaround is set one more parameter to break the auto run like you have done. If you just want your report not to auto run, your can achieve it by removing those default values.
    Reference:
Report Parameters (Report Builder and SSRS)
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Prompting for UserName and Password when I click Report Server Web Service URLs in ssrs 2008 R2

    Hi All,
I am using SQL Server Reporting services 2008 R2 . When I tried to open report server webservice URL in SSRS 2008 R2 It is prompting username and password. I tried to resolve the issue by deleting the <!--
<RSWindowsNegotiate/> --> line in rsreportserver.config but still I am getting the same prompt
and i tried by putting the server URL in trusted sites in IE also still no luck. I referred the below link 'http://blogs.msdn.com/b/lukaszp/archive/2008/03/26/solving-the-reporting-services-login-issue-in-the-february-ctp-of-sql-server-2008.aspx'
I am getting the same error.
Can anyone help me out to resolve this issue easily.
    Thanks
    Dathy

    Hi Dathy,
Generally, this is a very common issue in Reporting Services 2008 R2, the blog you post is a good blog that summary the common solutions. If it doesn’t help, could you please try the following:
Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools and click on Internet Options.
Under the Security tab, click on Trusted sites and click the Sites button and Add Report Manager/Report Server URL to the trusted sites.
Then click Custom Level, and check the option Automatic logon with current user name and password.
Repeat step 3 and step 4 for Local Intranet.
    Hope this helps.

  • SSRS Application to Retrieve Reports from the Report Server

I have an application that is done using SSRS on visual studio and it connects to the report server on SQL server 2008 environment.
I've been changing the existing reports using visual studio 2008 and modifying the reports on the report server. How do I add a new report to the application ? I created a new report and deployed it on the report server but it didn't show up in the application.
I can access the application source code on visual studio 2010 and TFS (Team Foundation). Thanks.

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 writing mode rotate270 has changed

On an SSRS 2008 R2 report that is executed on  report server 2012, I have a report that uses writing mode Rotate270 to change the direction of the label of columns. This worked fine until a month or two ago. No code was changed.
Now when the report is executed the following occurs:
    1. When the report is accessed by the following browsers the writing mode is ignored. The following is the differences between browers:
    a. When the ssrs report is accessed by Firefox or Opera, the direction of the labels are displayed as horizontal.   b. When the ssrs report is accessed by Internet Explorer, the direction of the label is vertical.
The report servers that uses reporting services 2012, has a 64 bit Windows R2 Enpterprise Operating System.
I am assuming that there is some windows update that caused this problem to occur. Thus I am wondering if you can tell me what could of caused this problem to occur? I am also wondering what you suggest to fix the problem? Do I need some kind of a Microsoft
update, if so which one? Should I change the SSRS report, if show can you show me what code to change?

    Hi wendy,
After testing the issue in my local environment, I can reproduce it. As per my understanding, the issue is caused by this property is not supported in Firefox or Opera browser with 64 bit Windows R2 Enterprise Operating System. For more details, please

  • Arial Unicode text overlapping after updgrading from ssrs 2008 to ssrs 2008 R2.

    Hi,
we recently upgraded our dev environment to SSRS 2008 R2 SP2. We are seeing issues with Arial Unicode font when exported to PDF. Text is overlapping and hard to read. Below is the example especially with special characters.
    Please advice
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Lacchi,
Since the reports was upgraded from SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2008 to SSRS 2008 R2, this issue cannot be reproduce in our test environment. It’s hard to say the root reason. Maybe it was caused by the upgrade operations. In your scenario, does
the issue occur on all reports, or only this report? If this report is not complicated, we suggest you recreating the report and deploy it to report server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Globals!RenderFormat alternative for SSRS 2008

In SSRS 2008 R2 there is Globals!RenderFormat variable that can be used to control appearance when exporting to different formats.
Is there something similar in SSRS 2008? Specifically I am interested in conditional TextDecoration (I would like it to be Underline when report is viewed in the browser (clickable report bookmark) or None if exported to PDF)

    Hi,
According to your description, you want to set conditional TextDecoration when export report to different formats.
In Reporting Services 2008, we don't have Render Format Name Built-In Field to recognize the render formats. Then we can use parameter with conditional expression to control the visibility of underline. For more details, please refer to the following steps
    to achieve your goal:
Create a parameter, in the Name and Prompt text box, type Type.
Click Available Values, and add available values: Default, Pdf.
Click Default Values, and add the default value: Default.
In Text Box Properties dialog box, click Font, in the Effects Expression text box, type the following expression:
    =IIf(Parameters!Type.Value="Default","Underline","Default")
Then we can select a type to control its appearance before exporting the report.
The following screenshot is for your reference:

  • Ssrs 2008 r2 date parameter not working all the time

In an SSRS 2008 r2 report, I am not getting some records selected when I run the report in the ssrs 2008 r2 report.
However when I run the sql in ssis manager, the records are selected. Thus I am trying to determine why some of the records are not selected whe running the ssrs report.
In the table called 'transactionfile', the fields that I am trying to determine where there is a problem is the following:
    SchoolNumber (varchar(50),null), and
    TransactionPaymentDate (varchar(50),null).
Examples of data are SchoolNumber = '121' and TransactionPaymentDate = '04162014'
In the SSRS report, the parameter value for @SchoolNumber is text and the parameter value for @EndDate and @StartDate is date/time.
The following is the query I am having a problem with:
    SELECT  s.SchoolNumber,
          CONVERT(smalldatetime,substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '-' + substring      (TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '-' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2)) as        TransactionPaymentDate
     from [eF].[dbo].[transactionfile] f
           INNER JOIN
        [eF].[dbo].schools] s
        on rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) =rtrim(ltrim(f.SchoolNumber))
     where  rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) = rtrim(ltrim(@SchoolNumber))
          AND
          Cast(Right(TransactionPaymentDate,4)+Left(TransactionPaymentDate,4)  as Date)
            >= @StartDate
         AND
       Cast(Right(TransactionPaymentDate,4)+Left(TransactionPaymentDate,4)  as Date) <= @EndDate
Thus could you suggerst what could be wrong when selecting some records by date?

First check whether transaction payment date has 8 digit or not. In yes then try the below query,
    SELECT s.SchoolNumber,
    CONVERT(smalldatetime,substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '-' + substring(TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '-' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2)) as TransactionPaymentDate
    from [eF].[dbo].[transactionfile] f
    INNER JOIN [eF].[dbo].schools] s
    on rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) =rtrim(ltrim(f.SchoolNumber))
    where rtrim(ltrim(s.SchoolNumber)) = rtrim(ltrim(@SchoolNumber))
    AND
    cast(substring(TransactionPaymentDate,5,4) + '/' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,1,2)+ '/' +
    substring(TransactionPaymentDate,3,2) as date) between @StartDate AND @EndDate

  • Issues passing drillthrough parameters from a multi-level tablix in SSRS 2008 R2

    Hello,
I am really struggling with trying creating a drillthrough report that starts with a matrix (tablix)  and passing those  parameters. I am using SSRS 2008 R2.
    Here's my scenario:
I have a matrix that has mulitple levels where you can drill down. Here an example with all the levels open:
    Active
    Term
    Leave
    Total
    128
    88
    121
    United States
    110
    80
    85
    New York
    65
    30
    57
    Manhattan
    10
    6
    9
    Buffalo
    20
    23
    4
    Albany
    35
    1
    44
    Texas
    45
    50
    28
    Dallas
    40
    30
    22
    Houston
    5
    20
    6
    France
    18
    8
    36
    Centre
    18
    8
    36
    Blois
    7
    2
    8
    Druex
    6
    1
    15
    Tours
    5
    5
    13
I want to drillthrough to another report - Detail Report. As I understand it, I would click the 65 for New York and I would see the detail for the 65 Active people. If I click the 2 under Blois, I would see the 2 terminated people in Blois. My understanding
for this to work, the Detail Report would need a a parameter for each of the level possibilities in the matrix that I could click: Country, State, City as well as the Status (Active, Term, Leave).
While I understand about passing parameters, what I don't understand is how to pass the parameters if they are blank. Let's say I clicked 65 for New York, I would need to pass State = New York  Status = Active. But the remaining parameters (Country
and City  would be null). I know Country doesn't need to be Null in this case.
My Detail Report has the parameters defaulted to Null, but whether I put the parameters in a Filter for the dataset or in the query itself, I cannot get it to ignore the Nulls.
As a crazy work-around (I think) I can put in the Where of the query  something along the lines of: this:
            and (a.Country in (@paramCountryCode) or NULL  in (@paramCountryCode) )
and I would need to do that for each parameter. Usually I have to use 'ALL' instead of NULL, I'm note sure why.
Additionally, in the Report Action of the Main Report, I need to pass those parameters for each level and their Status. I am also not clear whether or not I need to put in all the parameters on each of the levels (Country, State, City) of the matrix. And if
I do, do I need to make the expressions an IIF statement stating whether or not they are In Scope?
All the examples I was able to find, only showed one or maybe two parameters being passed. Doing the way I am trying, seems convoluted, error-prone and tedious. I really hope that I am wrong.
Is there a better way to approach drilltrough reports from a matrix when there are multiple levels?
    Thank you for the help.
    ~J

    Hi Jenna_Fire,
According to your description, you have a matrix contains total for each group on each level. Now your requirement is, when you click on any number (data field or total), it will go to the detail report which returns all the detail information of the people
within the group scope. For example, if you click on the total of Active users in United States, it will return the detail information of Active users in New York and Texas. Right?
In this scenario, we should set the parameter (@Country, @State, @City) allow multiple values in both main and detail report. And in Default Value (@Country, @State, @City), query out all distinct values. In the textbox which contains
those total values, when set use these parameters to run the report, we only need to pass the parameters of parent groups. For example, if we click on the total of Active users in New York, we only need to pass Country, State, Status to detail report, and
in the detail report, the City parameter will use all distinct values (Default Values) because we don't pass the City parameter. We have tested this case with sample data in our local environment. Here are steps and screenshots for your reference:
    1. Create parameter Country, State, City and Status in both main report and detail report. Set both Available Value and Default Value get values from query (Create a dataset for each parameter, use "select distinct [column] from [table]" as query). Set allow
multiple values for parameter Country, State and City in both reports.
    2. In corresponding textbox, pass appropriate parameters in go to report Action.
    4. Filter data in detail report (in where clause or using filters).
    5. Save and preview. It looks like below:

  • Calculate percentage between two rows in a matrix report with a single row group in SSRS 2008

I need your help. I have a matrix report in ssrs 2008. The report contain one field value column and one value column. I need to calculate a percentage for two values. For example : row 1 : Discount 10 Row 2 : Sales 100 Result : 10/100. I have only one
row group, I need to have a condition where Field = Discount % on Revenue then Discount/Total Turnover. Because of the  grouping for total, I am not being able to calculate the %, its just totalling the % discount. Kindly refer to the snapshot of the
    report.

Hi Thanks a lot for your answer, but unfortunately it didn't work, the report is reading from a stored procedure which I have unpivot to convert all columns into rows, so that's why Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover is found in one column.
So the Field!Col.Value is the Discount % on Revenue, Discount and Total Turnover. I have tried to change the code to
    "=SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Discount",Fields!value.Value),0))
    /IIF(SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)) = 0 ,
Nothing,SUM(IIF(Fields!Col.Value = "Turnover Total",Fields!value.Value),0)))" but to no avail. Any other suggestion will be most welcome.
    Thanks.
If everything you're getting from stored procedure then you need to calculate and bring the value from there itself.
