SSRS content not appearing in SharePoint 2013
We have a multi-sever installation of SharePoint 2013 SP1 we are trying to get working for BI environment.
We have most features working, including Kerberos delegation of user credentials in PerformancePoint and Excel Services. However, we are having issues getting SSRS (SharePoint Integrated) working in our multi-server solution. These reports work
fine in our single-server Development environment, but when we deploy them to the scaled-out SharePoint farm, the reports become non-functional.
We can see the breadcrumb header for the current report folder, and also see the control pane that gives us a list of available actions, and the navigation controls, but everything else is empty. The navigation controls are never populated with information,
and the entire screen below remains blank white. No error is visible.
Our configuration uses 4 servers. Server (A) is the front-end SharePoint server; Server (B) is the back-end application server [which also hosts the Central Admin site]; Server (C) hosts all the SQL databases; and Server (D) is
dedicated to SQL Analysis Services. We have installed SQL Reporting Services (SharePoint Integrated) on Server (B), and have also installed the Reporting Services Add-In for SharePoint on server (A). We are using SQL 2012 for all SQL functions,
and SP 2013 SP1.
Can anyone provide any assistance on where else I can look, or what I may be missing to get this configuration working?
Thanks in advance,
Elohir
Hi Trevor,
I hope you are still monitoring this thread, as I had a bit of an epiphany overnight, and think I know what the core of my issue is, but still have no idea how to resolve or work-around it.
So it occurred to me, that since Reporting Services was installed with the CA site on the SharePoint Application server (Server B, which we'll call ca.mysite.com), and the BI Web Application itself is installed on the WFE (Server A, or bi.mysite.com), any
call to a constructed URL would have one of two issues:
A constructed URL of http://bi.mysite.com/reports would be sent to Server A, where only the RS Add-In is installed, not SSRS itself, so no response would be expected, since there is no SSRS service to respond.
A constructed URL of http://ca.mysite.com/reports would be sent to Server B. However, since that is where the CA site, and service applications live, the SPN for Kerberos is mapped to the CA Web Application
Account, and not the AD account used for the SharePoint services. Now calls to port 32843 on this box should map to the correct SPN, but without that port in the URL, it is going to fail Kerberos authentication.
So this also raises an interesting question about configuring SharePoint services with Kerberos. Fortunately, our design plan called for a single AD account to be used for all service application pools. So no matter which service is being called
on the application server via the 32483 default service port, they all map to the same service account, and thus the same SPN (since they all use the same root URL). So my question becomes, if we had decided to use DIFFERENT accounts for the service
applications, how would we configure everything so that each service could support a unique SPN? Is there a way to tell/force SharePoint to use a specific URL for the Reporting Services connections?
So if Trevor, or anyone else has made it this far, does it sound like I am on the right track here? Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated... I feel like I am beating my head against a wall.
Thanks in advance,
Elohir

Enable reporting of offensive content not working in sharepoint 2013 community site
i am trying to enable "Report to moderator option" in community site but when i checked option "Enable reporting of offensive content" in a community site settings and clicked Ok. I am getting an error "The file is not checked out.You
must first check out this document before making changes."
i am not sure why i am getting this error, the same thing works fine in other community site's i have created.
This community is a backup restore of another community site.
Is there any other way by which i can enable 'reporting of offensive content'.
Any pointer's to solve this will be helpful. You just need to
Enable the Reporting of Offensive Content feature
Note You must be a member of the Owners group to enable this feature.
On the Community tools web part on your community home page, click
Community settings.
Select the Enable reporting of offensive content check box.
Click OK.

Hi community
I might have stumbled on some issue with a corrupt Photo store. Last week, I ran a scripted update to the client's AD where I updated the thumbnailPhoto and some custom attributes. The result has been HR have been inundated with requests
to have newer ( and more flattering photos!) to be updated onto AD for Outlook and Exchange. One thing I have noticed is that only the people in my intranet development team have their photos displayed in their Mysites. Turns out these they added directly
in SharePoint. Now this is odd since I can see that all the other properties seem to have been synced across correctly.
Anyway, following a chat with Vlad ( SharePoint-Community.net) , I have applied the October CU to my farm ( to deal with an profile related exception in ULS)
Left SPAutoInstaller running last night patching the October CU
Came in his morning and noted the build version had not changed
rebooted the dev server
Ran the config wizard
Checked the build version
Major Minor Build Revision

Added a 'dummy' photo of my in my user profile...
checked my real photo is valid in AD ( < 10K) with AD Photo Edit Free Edtion
Ran incremental profile sync and checked status with FIM Client

SSRS 2012 report integrated with SharePoint 2013 issue :Report refreshing after some idle time
we have SSRS 2012 report integrated with SharePoint 2013 , when we click on any toggle item after some idle time of 60 secs and try again to expand
another toggle item then complete report is getting refreshed and if we are in child report it is redirecting to parent report. . we didn’t set any refreshing property at report level. I hope there will be some idle time setting at sharepoint site
level.
what we observed.
1. there is no problem when we expand toggle items without any idle time.
2. when we open the report and expand few toggles and keep idle for 60 seconds and try
again to expand another toggle item then complete report is getting refreshed (all toggle items are collapsing).
3. If you keep idle for 60 minutes and if you didn’t do any action like expanding toggle
items it is not refreshing.
why it is happening and how to stop that complete refresh.
Surendra ThotaHi Surendra,
I have tested on my local environment and the issue can be caused by the session time out ,the time out of the report precessing, database timeout,DataSet query execution timeout and so on.
I would like to confirm that the refresh you have mentioned is the page refresh or the report reloading?
Please reference to the setting below to don't limit the timeout values if you got the report reloading:
Point to a report in the library.
Click the down arrow, and select Manage processing options.
In Processing Time-out, select Do not time out report processing or
Limit report processing in seconds if you want to override that value with no time-out or different time-out values.
If you got the session timeout that refresh the page, please reference to the setting in below article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492284.aspx#bkmk_session_settings_section
Details information in the article below about the timeout setting for your reference:
Set Processing Options (Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated Mode)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

</div>Hi,
In the “Property Mappings” of the Content Search Web Part, we can see that the Picture field will only display the value retrieved from “PublishingImage;PictureURL;PictureThumbnailURL”,
because there is corresponding column in OOTB Document Library holds the valid value of a thumbnail image for a document, that’s why documents from Document Library display no thumbnail image in a Content Search Web part.
If you want to display thumbnail images for documents of Document Library, you can add a custom Picture column to hold the thumbnail image of a document, set the “Property
Mappings” to display this custom Picture column.
By doing this, every time uploading a document to this library, setting a thumbnail image(provided by common users, not generated by SharePoint automatically) for
that custom Picture column, in the Content Search Web Part, the thumbnail image will display.
Thanks

Error while running SSRS 2012 report integrated with SharePoint 2013
Hi,
Our reporting services environment has SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2013. The SharePoint 2013 farm has 2 web front ends, 1 app server and a separate server for reporting services i.e SSRS 2012 .
We have created a https web application in SharePoint 2013 and all the SSRS 2012 reports are deployed into a "Report Library" residing in its root site collection.
The simple reports are running well. But there is a report where we have 3 multi-value parameters. On running this report in IE or Chrome, we get the error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the
server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' <!DOCTYPE html PUB'."
Some of the forums suggested to add the below entry in the web config of the SharePoint web app where the SSRS reports are deployed. We did that too, still the error is appearing. Please can anyone help .
<appSettings>
<add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="100000" />
</appSettings>
ThanksHi Surendra,
I have tested on my local environment and the issue can be caused by the session time out ,the time out of the report precessing, database timeout,DataSet query execution timeout and so on.

Search not working in SharePoint 2013 - Event ID 1314 - Crawler:Gatherer Plugin
I have one web application and three host-named site collections. I had read an article that I just need to have the web application URL in the content source for the search to work, but that didn't resolve my issue.
https://webapplication - main root web application
https://staff.domain.com - Host name site collection
https://services.domain.com Host name site collection
https://sharepoint.domain.com host name site collection.
I have also created the registry entry for BackConnectionHostNames also.
Under Search Application topology I have all green check marks, but searchable items are listed as 0.
I am getting the following errors on my SharePoint 2013 server.
The start address https://sharepoint.domain.com cannot be crawled.
Context: Application 'Connect_Search', Catalog 'Portal_Content'

any help would be greatly appreciated.Hello Derek,
as I see you are using Host Named Site Collections.
You have two Problems.
First:
The start address https://webapplication cannot be crawled.
Context: Application 'sharepoint_Search', Catalog 'Portal_Content'
Details:
The secure sockets layer (SSL) certificate sent by the server was invalid and this item will not be crawled. (0x80041223)
You Need to fix this first!! You have a Problem with your SSL Certificate!
The Webapplication is where normally the Search Crawler would enter the crawl in a Host Named Site Collection Scenario.
As soon as you fix this, remove the entries for your Host Named Site Collections from the Crawler. Just leave your Webapplication in it. The HNSC will be crawled automatically. This is the following of your Errors:
The start address https://services.domain.com cannot be crawled.
Context: Application 'sharepoint_Search', Catalog 'Portal_Content'
Details:
This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of the host header Web application if configured as a start address.
(0x80040de4
Be sure that you created your Webapplication NOT
AS A HOST NAMED WEB APPLICATION!
If you can check everything I mentioned above, your search should hopefully start to work.

Adding Hyperlink to content within RTE in SharePoint 2013
Hi,
We are using the default RTE provided by SP 2013. We need to provide hyperlink within the content added in the RTE. Please suggest a way to do this.
Thanks.
AteebHi Ateeb,
As I understand, you would like to add hyperlink to content edited in rich text editor.
I create a page in SharePoint 2013, then the page content is in rich text editor. I can directly add a hyperlink, such as
http://www.bing.com, then click space, it will turn blue and to be marked as a hyperlink here.
If you would like to edit this hyperlink, you could move your cursor among this link, then a Link tab will appear. Or you could select Edit Source under Format Text tab, then you will find hyperlink displayed as:
<p>
<a href="http://www.bing.com/">http://www.bing.com</a>
</p>
You could edit the source code directly per your requirements.

Team Note book in SharePoint 2013.
We are trying to use Team note book in SP 2013 team site and we have Office web apps configured. I would like to know the limitations and possible issues when using this feature.
Please help.
techieHi techie,
Team site is typically created for collaboration and a team notebook is a great note-taking tool for many collaboration needs:.
1.Share the same OneNote notebook with other members of your team. You don’t need to send notes to each other because you all have access to the same notebook.
2.Have a single notebook for your project that contains all of your meeting notes, ideas, discussions, tasks, etc.
3.Collaborate with others on your team simultaneously. You will literally see each other’s updates almost immediately.
4.OneNote highlights new and updated content made by your team members. This is useful to quickly see what has changed and keep up to date with the latest notes.
For more information, you can refer to the blog:

Excel Services Refresh method not working in Sharepoint 2013
Hi,
In our application, we open excel services workbook in sharepoint 2013. Using sessionid of the workbook, we called Refresh and CalculateWorkbook methods in that order. After Calculateworkbook method, I see time stamps in LastUpdatedTime for each connection
in 'Connections' tab of excel workbook. When Refresh method is called again after CalculateWorkbook method, the LastUpdatedTime for the connections becomes blank.
When I use sharepoint 2010, the temstamp is not becoming blank after refresh.
I think due to this reason we see blank data on our reports. Can somebody tell whether there is a problem with Refresh method in sharepoint 2013? Or is there somebody facing problem with excel services in sharepoint 2013? Any pointers can help.
Thanks,
PranavaHi,
For your issue, verify if Excel files are rendered by Office Web Apps:
When Office Web Apps is responsible for the rendering the URL will look something like this:

And when Excel Calc is rendering the document it should look like the following:

Here is an article about how to enable pdf preview with OWA:

Excel 2013 Data From Web not working with SharePoint 2013?
In Excel 2013, on the ribbon select the 'Data' tab and 'From Web' to import data from a web page. Navigate to a SharePoint 2013 site with a table on the home page and you will not see the table import arrow on the table. With SharePoint 2010 you would have.
Any suggestions on a workaround/fix?
One thing to note, in SharePoint 2013 be sure to disable the Minimum Download Strategy feature on the site or you will get script errors in the New Web Query dialog.
Also, I realize this may belong in an Office/Excel forum so I have posted it there also.
Thanks, FintanHi Fintan ,
According to your description, my understanding is that the Excel table import arrow disappears in the SharePoint 2013 page.
For your issue , I can reproduce your scenario in my SharePoint 2013 environment. It should be caused by the Excel Data connection from web page feature cannot identify the page layout which is
used by SharePoint 2013 . For a workaround, you export the HTML table using jQuery:

Hybrid Search not working from SharePoint 2013 Online to SharePoint On-premise
Hi,
I have setup a SharePoint 2013 Hybrid environment setup with the following –
Windows Server 2012 R2
SharePoint Server 2013 with April 2014 CU
SQL Server 2014
ADFS 3.0 using SSO with Web proxy and DirSync
SharePoint 2013 Online tenant on Office 365 Enterprise Subscription
I have configured the Hybrid following the article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj838715(v=office.15).aspx and configured Hybrid Search. The hybrid environment was working fine including Search both ways initially
but after upgrade to April CU 2014 (along with upgrade to SQL 2014 from SQL 2012), now search from SharePoint online to SharePoint in-Premise is not working anymore.
I am still able login with the federated IDs in both the environments and get results from SharePoint Online in SharePoint in-Premise environment.
I have already tried most of the troubleshooting steps mentioned at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn518363(v=office.15).aspx
Now every time, we perform a search in our SharePoint Online site, which is configured to show hybrid results from SharePoint in-premise, we don’t get results from in-premise and instead we see the following error logged in SharePoint
In-premise Web Server –
Error - An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown. Parameter name: value.
And ULS log shows the following – Even though the message seems apparent that there could be duplicate users in user profile Application, but that’s not the case. There are just 2 unique users added there.

Any ideas?
Anupam ShrivastavaI am experiencing the same issue. Don't have the answer yet about what's wrong exactly. And my SSO works fine too.
I know precisely what makes the SharePoint throw the ArgumentException, but I can't yet figure out how to influence this behavior. I will respond back if I find out, but I hope the following will create an "aha moment" for someone.
So the SP Online issues an OAuth request to the on-prem SharePoint. If verbose logging is on for the Claims category, you may see how it reads these claims. One of them is this:
Claim['nii':'urn:federation:microsoftonline']
Using this claim and the nameid claim the profile mapping logic then reports the following immediately before the error (Set User Profiles to verbose to see this):
Creating encoded sid for nameid '100300008b29cb02' and nameidissuer 'urn:federation:microsoftonline'
Inspecting this logic with Reflector, I can see that it then attempts to infer the identity provider type from the nameidissuer, and throws the exception, because "federation" is not what it expects. It expects either "windows", "trusted" or "forms" for
the provider type.
So the user's actions to lead to this error were as follows:
1. I connect to the Office 365 portal, and get redirected to my ADFS server (same domain for the ADFS server, on-prem SharePoint, and the user accounts).
2. I log on, and from the SP Online portal I issue my search query using a result source configured as per the Hybrid TechNet guidance.
So thanks in advance for any suggestions, on what it could be. -
Search not working in SharePoint 2013 RTM
I recently setup SharePoint 2013 Development environment on a VM with complete farm install on a same machine. I configured setup using configuration wizard and added some documents to the root site. As soon as I searched it gave “Some Error Occured” message.
On checking error logs, I found that it gave message:
Ims::Execute–Error
occured: System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening
at
net.tcp://<machine name>/6A7919/QueryProcessingComponent1/ImsQueryInternal that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. Server stack trace:
at
System.ServiceModel.Channels.ConnectionUpgradeHelper.DecodeFramingFault(ClientFramingDecoder decoder, IConnection connection, Uri via, String contentType, TimeoutHelper& timeoutHelper)
Then it had:
w3wp.exe:
Query processing component ‘net.tcp://<server ip address>/QueryProcessingComponent1/ImsQueryInternal’ changes its status to ‘Failed’.
w3wp.exe:
All query processing components are in ‘Failed’ status.Hi
I have come in this morning and the Search ( Query processor) looks broken this I configured successfully a few weeks back.
I have looked on the server logs and coincidently, there is is an issue in IIS with the app pool
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1}
and APPID
{61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1}
to the user MYDOAMIN\SP_AppPoolSharePoint SID (S-1-5-21-1257006630-411654553-1540833222-8803) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
I know some of the guys were playing with running visual studio and on the dev server so I need to find out what they might have done .. Sigh
