ST02: SAP Memory-- Extended Memory- Max.Use=In Memory
Hi SAP Guru's
O/S: AIX, D/B: DB2, R/3 4.7 (620 Kernal)
My production System show
ST02: SAP Memory--> Extended Memory->Max.Use=In Memory
SAP memory Max. use (KB) || In memory (KB)
Extended Memory 8,388,608 || 8,388,608
Plz. let me know in detail what action I have to take.
Thanks & Regards,
Kishore Reddy

Hello Krishna,
Initially you had mentioned that max memory was greater than in memory. That was surpsrising. Now i think you have checked and changed that both are equal. This scenario is okie. We have this scenario on several of your production servers. where Max Memory=In memory. This will happen because certain process will need all the available memory. So need to really take action. Also you are pretty close to maximum limit 8.196 MB.
Please award points in case the answer solved your query.
Regards.
Ruchit.

Macbook Memory Upgrade, can I use this memory in my Pismo or Titanium PB?
I just bought a Macbook. I love it. I ordered a 1G of ram. Can I use the 512 memory from the original configuration in my Pismo powerbook or my Titanium powerbook?
No. You must use the memory specified by Apple in your MacBook's User Guide: PC5300-DDR2 667 MHz SODIMMs.

[Solved] Unable to use all memory or unable to boot
I solved this issue by uninstalling the Nouveau drivers. So if you have both the NVIDIA binary drivers and nouveau installed and the computer doesn't boot past the UDev uevents line, try uninstalling the nouveau drivers.
Hello!
I've been having some problems with my desktop PC, and was wondering if anybody knows how to fix these problems.
First, my computer refuses to boot if I have my NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS in the PCIe slot. It boots fine into Windows XP and 7.
What happens is that the computer boots all the way to "Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed", where it locks up, ignoring keyboard input.
I found that if I booted the computer with the option mem=6GB added to the kernel boot options, the computer boots properly. (Yes, I know, 6GB should be 6G)
however, this reduces my usable memory to 4GB.
This is what dmesg says:
Memory: 4565500k/6291456k available (3312k kernel code, 1573636k absent, 151368k reserved, 1752k data, 472k init)
If I remove the graphics card, the computer boots as normal, and shows all of my 6GB of ram.
Here is my entire dmesg output:

Memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??
What memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??
Max RAM? Vista? Windows 7?I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.

Using 2 memory modules causes kernel panic
In early 2009 I upgraded my memory from 512 to 2 GB, 2 modules of 1GB each. This past January (just shy of 2 years later) I got a kernel panic. I tested running with a single module, and one module caused panic, the other was fine. Both slots function with the good module. So I got two new matched replacement chips from OWC, put them in and got kernel panics during the boot process. Yesterday I spent testing memory configurations and found this:
1. chip 1 alone runs fine and passes all Rember memory tests in slot 1.
2. chip 2 alone runs fine in slot 1 and 2, passes all memory tests in slot 2.
3. chips 1 and 2 together, in either slot, cause kernel panics before the OS is loaded.
Has anyone seen this problem? Will it go away if I use top of the line (Apple) memory chips?
When the kernel panics started back in January, an AppleCare advanced advisor said he had the same problem and he had to remove one module to stop the kernel panics. Running on 1GB doesn't work for me because I tend to max out the memory and programs like Mail, Safari, Photoshop, etc. become unreponsive all together.
thanks -I have spent more time on the phone with OWC about this than I care to remember. Their latest request is that I use an eraser to clean the metal contacts on the chips; if that fails, I get to send the chips back. Whether I get a refund or yet another set of replacement chips, I don't know. They are not experts on Apple machines, that is clear.

Slow iMac, kernel_task using 1GB memory
My iMac has been running slower and slower over the past year or so. The problem seems to come and go, but I have been noticing increasing tendency for applications to hang, or to get stuck for minutes with spinning beach balls. I've been carrying forward software and installations going all the way back to OS X 10.0 (from previous machines) and I probably have made some poor choices regarding installing third-party software in the past.
I've seen some very helpful advice in this forum given to others (for example, here) so I thought I would post my problem here.
I've been watching Activity Monitor, and the only thing I've noticed that seems consistently out of place is that kernel_task is using about 1GB of RAM. (It was using about 2GB of RAM until I uninstalled Virtual Box, which clearly was a big part of my problems).
I am fully backed up redundantly (locally via Time Machine and remotely via BackBlaze). I'm holding off upgrading to Yosemite until I can clean this issue up (unless you think it would help).
Below you will find posted two diagnostic reports. The first is EtreCheck, followed by the results of the Terminal script posted by Linc Davis in this thread
I hope that's sufficient to help the geniuses reading this forum give me some advice. Thank you in advance for your help.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

Getting ORA-27102: out of memory while creating DB using DBCA
Hi All,
I am working on 11.2.0.3 oracle version and linux OS. I am trying to create a new database using dbca and getting error "ORA-27102: out of memory".
Please find the DB version and OS level parameters info below and let me know what i need to do to overcome this issue.

------ Shared Memory Limits --------
max number of segments = 4096
max seg size (kbytes) = 4194303
max total shared memory (kbytes) = 8388608
min seg size (bytes) = 1
Please let me know for any other details.
Thanks in advance.Ok, first, let's set aside the issue of hugepages for a moment. (Personally, IMHO, if you're doing manual memory mangement, and you're not using hugepages, you're doing it wrong.)
Anyhow, looking at your SHM parameters:
kernel.shmall = 2097152
kernel.shmmax = 4294967295
kernel.shmmni = 4096
Let's take those in reverse order:
1.) shmmni - This is the max number of shared memory segments you can have on your system, regardless of the size of each segment.
2.) shmmax - Contrary to popular belief, this is NOT the max amount of shared memory you can allocate system wide! This is the max size, in bytes of a single shared memory segment. You currently have it set to 4GB-1. This is probably fine. Even if you wanted an SGA larger than 4GB, having shmmax set to this wouldn't hurt you. Oracle would simply allocate multiple shared memory segments, until it had allocated enough memory for the SGA. There's really no harm there, unless this parameter is set really low, causing a huge number of tiny shared memory segments to be allocated.
3.) shmall - This is the real shared memory segment limit. This number is the total amount of shared memory you're permitted to allocate, system wide, expressed in pages. Pagesize here is the native OS pagesize, which is 4096 bytes, so, this is 2097152 * 4096 = 8589934592, or, 8GB. So, 8GB is the maximum amount of memory that can currnetly be allocated to shared memory, on your machine.
So, having said all that, you haven't mentioned how many, if any, other Oracle databases are running on the server or their sizes. Secondly, we have no idea what memory sizing parameters you have set on the database that you're trying to create, that's getting the error.
So, if you can provide more details, in terms of how many other databases are already on this server, and their SGA sizes, and the parameters you've chosen for the database that's failing to create, perhaps we can help more.
Finally, if you're not using SGA_TARGET or MEMORY_TARGET, you really need to take the time to configure hugepages. Particularly if you've got a server that has as much memory as you do, and you're planning to have non-trivially sized SGA (10s of GB), then you really want to configure hugepages.
Hope that helps,

Issue to use all memory installed on server
currently running crystal report server 2008 (12.1.0.882) Crystal 32bit on powerfull Dell server R 905 with 64 Gig memory..
There are currently 15 instances of Crystal running on this server, with each being allocated a maximum of 2GB. The aim of the design is for the memory to be chunk up into 2GB each and allocation to the 15 instances of Crystal (2GB x 15), therefore we donu2019t want the instances to exceed the 2GB limit imposed.
but all 15 instances use maximum 6 Gig memory on server even we have 64 Gig memory available. using page file and cpu goes to %100 and very slow performance.
using /pae switch in boot.ini and server shows all 64 Gig memory and can be use all these memories by a test application
thanks for sharing any information to resolve this issue.
NickHi Nick,
I Believe you are using Crystal Reports Server Embedded and working with Lawson to resolve this issue which is why I moved this to the Java Development forum.
To get more details are you running 15 instances of Crystal RAS according to the CCM?
RAS is not pae aware and although you can use the boot.ini switch to increase this we highly suggest you don't. I also don't believe we will limit if you are trying to limit it to 2 gig.
Can you check the number of CPU's enabled in License Manager according to the key code?
Also, how many reports are you running at one time?
How many users are logged in?
Are the reports all on demand reports or are they being exported to some format and e-mailed out etc.?
If you working with Lawson possibly what we can do is set up a conference call?
Thank you
Don
PS - also note Crystal Reports Server is a standalone version of the full Enterprise produce but it is limited to one server and one PC. It is not the same as Crystal Reports Server Embedded which is standalone Crystal Report RAS and used for application development only. There is no SAP interface to it.

Hi!
I have Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 with 16 Gb RAM. I created two VM with 7162 Mb of fixed memory on each. But i can't start both of them. When i tried start second vm i got out of memory error. Why?
PS C:\Users\Administrator> ( Get-WMIObject Win32_OperatingSystem -ComputerName localhost ).FreePhysicalMemory
8184452
PS C:\Users\Administrator> start-vm oldBSD
start-vm : 'oldBSD' could not initialize. (Virtual machine ID 05EA5A45-601F-4CC0-8770-62B97571D8F8)
Not enough memory in the system to start the virtual machine oldBSD with ram
size 7168 megabytes. (Virtual machine ID 05EA5A45-601F-4CC0-8770-62B97571D8F8)
The server ran out of available memory.
Max memory value for second machine is 5740Mb, but with it i have
PS C:\Users\Administrator> ( Get-WMIObject Win32_OperatingSystem -ComputerName
localhost ).FreePhysicalMemory
2243312
How i can use all memory? My idea is use 7 Gb of memory for each machine and 1.5-2 Gb for host.Hi maxx-ode,
As far as I know ,to get free memory you still need to subtract the "standby memroy" from the output of the command in your original post .
Please refer to the article "Memory Sizing Guidance for Windows 7" within the link below :
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/windows/hardware/dn550976
" Standby List
The Standby list contains unmodified pages that have been removed from process working sets, which effectively makes the Standby list a cache. If a process needs a page that is on the Standby list, the memory manager immediately returns the page to its
working set.
All pages on the Standby list are available for memory allocation requests. If a process requests memory, the memory manager can take a page from the Standby list, initialize it, and allocate it to the calling process. This is called repurposing a page.
Pages on the Standby list are often from recently used files. By keeping these pages on the Standby list, the memory manager reduces the need to read information from the disk. Disk reads
can decrease system responsiveness. "
Please try to use this command to get the "real" free memory of host (in bytes):
(Get-WmiObject Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfOS_Memory -ComputerName localhost).FreeAndZeroPageListBytes
"Free & Zero Page List Bytes is the amount of physical memory, in bytes, that is assigned to the free and zero page lists. This memory does not contain cached data. It is immediately available for allocation to a process or for system use.
Update: Actually we can allocate some standby RAM to VM , based on my test I can't allocate whole standby RAM .Then I used
RAMMap to check the usage and I found that Mapped file occupied most RAM .For mapped file please refer to following link:

Can I use 2gb memory in one slot in my 2006 Mac mini as the 2 slots of 1gb only reports as 1gb memory, both memory work ok in the one slot as I have swapped them over
To my knowledge 1GB modules are the max. size for the 2006 Mini.
2GB modules are not recognized/useable.

More jrun using up memory problems
There seem to be a lot of problems like this but everyone's situation seems to be a little different. It makes it hard to find solutions. Here is what we are dealing with.
We are taking an XML file containing product data and importing it into a SQL 2000 database. The xml file is about 6mb and it has product data for about 4700 products. When we wrote the import we were running coldfusion 7 standard updated to 7.02. We run the import every night and it seemed to run fine. It took about 45 minutes to run but the server didn't crash. We just recently upgraded to cf 9 standard. After the upgrade when the import ran we were seeing lots of out of memory errors in the log. The second night it ran coldfusion had to be restarted.
We setup a testing server and ran the import there and watched the memory usage of jrun. As the import ran memory usage kept climbing until it reached the max heap size. After this the import got very slow and eventually coldfusion became completely unresponsive.
We changed the import so that it would do the products in smaller batches as separate requests. This seemed to be the answer. Between the requests the memory usage would drop down some and the whole thing was able to run without using up all the available memory. The import also takes a lot less time now that the memory usage isn't so high. We thought we had it fixed so we started running it on the production server.
After a couple days we noticed that our memory usage was very high on the production server. We went back to the testing server and ran the import a few times. After this we could see that each time it was run the memory usage would increase. After about 4 times the memory reached the max heap size and coldfusion became unresponsive. The memory usage never goes back down. Some things to check / consider.
1. What are your JVM settings? What is your Maximum JVM Heap Size? If you are using the default value, 512 MB, consider a larger value. On a 32 bit server the upper limit is 1.8 GB. A 64 bit server can allocate more memory to the JVM, but I haven't seen any documentation that specifies the upper limits on 64 bit. (If anyone can point me to some info on this I'd be grateful.)
2. Consider moving the XML to SQL import process off of ColdFusion to another tool.
Some options:
a. A SQL Server DTS package
b. Use the bulk insert feature of SQL Server
c. Use a third party tool such as Altova Mapforce

Is there any issue in using ABAP Memory ID to exchange between the programs
Hi All,
Do we expect any issues if we use ABAP Memory ID's to exchange the data between different programs?
I was told by my colleagues that, we can expect some unforeseen issues if we use ABAP Memory ID's. These issues could be because of refresh of Memory ID's in the Standard program.
Is that true? Need experts opinion on this question.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards,
RSSI can think of such case only if you pick memory id of some standard name. Anyhow I can't imagine this happens w/o running any standard report on you machine from your custom report. ABAP memory is user dependant so you have your own roll area wherein all run programs can communicate. If you don't run any standard report by means of SUBMIT, you don't have to worry about this aspect either.
Futhermore if you run separate GUI session, or sinmply use /o in same session, you open new external session which gets its own new ABAP memory. So you don't affect your previous one at all.
If you want to be extremely careful, use memory id of some custom, original name i.e. I always use such naming convention NAME_OF_PROGRAM_XXXX where XXX denotes its usage i.e. XXX = 'EMPLOYEES'. If I also don't use SUBMIT I am 100% sure no other program touches/flushes this memory.
Don't believe your collegues and use ABAP memory whenever needed, but always consider context of program and where it lies in the memory. If they persist, please send them here to discuss this matter giving some good reason why they discourage you to do.
BTW: This could be an issue with SAP Memory, but with ABAP no chance.

Using ABAP memory during IDOC processing
What are implications , issues of using ABAP memory in IDOC processing i.e. let say in inbound FM , I create implicit enhancement and I submit a report and return and pass data to this report via abap memory. What are implications ? Is it recommended to use this approach since many number of IDOCs are hitting the system and orders are getting posted.
Please suggest . Thanks in advance.Hello Jürgen,
Thanks a lot for this OSS Note. So it seems the issue is some kind of a program error that requires source code correction. I am in process of getting this note applied in our SAP environment. Hopefully, it solves my problem. I will definitely keep you posted.
Thanks again for your quick help.

I recently started using my Z31 and am curious about the memory card feature. For what have people used this memory feature? What software might be needed, if any, to use an application that might use the memory card? What is the max memory card size for the Z31? Thanks for your help.
Post relates to: Zire 31You can purchase a memory card up to 1 GB. You can use the card for viewing videos, music, programs, and files such as documents. You can purchase a SD card from any major retail store or online store.

but memory use few about 16% always
i setting

minimum server memory in mb = 10240
why sql service not use memory more i think if use more is better performance
best regards
chatchai-netdIf you have 30GB at OS level then please configure the memory correctly...
maximum server memory in mb = 2147483647
minimum server memory in mb = 10240
May be based on the load you can consider using 80% to sql and 20 % to OS or 70% to SQL and 30 % to OS ( but its all based on your SQL and OS usage ).
If your sql is not using more memory then that means sql instance is not performing too many transactions and load is very less.
Check what is running on your server and it will take memory and other resources based on the needs and work load.
