ST780 WL Modem - unable to connect usning Linux
Hi,
I have a ST780 - software version 6.2.16.3.
Using XP I can connect to Internet and all seems to work OK. - I have used the modem for some years like this.
I just got a laptop running Ubuntu 10.4 and find it has problems, subsequently it appears to be a problem with Vista machines and Windows 7.
The connection is made via wireless to the modem without a problem and all the PCs on the local network are seen. However the Internet connection is not made.
The only way to connect to the Internet is to manually set the DNS addresses - this is not a problem except that when the PC then sleeps or hibernates the reconnection is not made.
I have done a factory reset and made no setting changes after this.
Do I need to set something up - I don't see anything in the manual?
Is this a known problem.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Regards
John
Apologies, I was believed that Cisco were now the owners of the Thomson series - I guess from you answer I was incorrect.

Unable to connect to linux server though tight VNC server
Hi!
I have configured VNC server 4.1 for my Linux Red hat server. VNC server is working on port 5903 and user "oracle" is allowed to connect (It means he is vncuser). while i try to connect to server using VNC it prompts to enter password. It means server is reachable. But When I enter correct password it returns Authentication Failed even though password is 100% . To confirm password I changed it using "vncpasswd" command and then I restart the vnc service by $ service vncserver start command. The service started successfully but couldn't access the server through VNC.
I checked in /etc/sysconfig/iptables and it contains entry as
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT
So what anything else i m missing ? What should I do ?
Thanks & Regards
TusharThanks
My remote server OS is Red Hat 5.2 . And I am trying to connect to my remote host server (Red hat 5.2 ) through VNC which is installed on my local system Windows XP. I usually use putty to get command base access of my remote server. I have also configured SSH tunnel in putty so that i can connect to VNC and get GUI access of my server.
What action will taken if i run command given by you. Do I have to reboot my server, if yes then it is not possible.
$ service iptables stop
I think there is no issue of firewall. Because it asks me to enter password .That means ping to server is reachable on port 5903.
My /etc/sysconfig/vncservers file contains following entry
VNCSERVERS = "3:oracle"
And one line for display resolution. -

Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G(on 64 bit Linux box)
We are unable to connect to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G which is on 64 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Infrastructure: OBIEE 11.1.1.5 64bit, on 64 bit Red Hat Linux Enterprise Linux 5.6 , MS SQL Server 2008 on 64 bit Microsoft Windows Server
Issue Description: Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE11G RPD
Details: We are unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE which is on a 64 bit Linux box. We created the ODBC connection on Linux box to the SQL server. Whenever we try to import metadata it throws an error that says ‘Connection Failed’.
Here are the steps we followed to setup the ODBC connection on Linux box.
1) We updated the user.sh file with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 values that point to $ORACLE_HOME/bifoundation/odbc/lib
This is where we found the driver for SQL server SEmsss23.so.
2) We updated the odbc.ini file with the entry for SQL server with the connection details
SI_SQL_Server_DEV = SQL Server
[SI_SQL_Server_DEV]
Driver=/u001_OAS/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/odbc/lib/SEmsss23.so
Description=DataDirect 5.1 SQL Server Wire Protocol
Address=10.230.216.52,54970
AlternateServers=
AnsiNPW=Yes
ConnectionRetryCount=0
ConnectionRetryDelay=3
Database=SVBDW_NEW
LoadBalancing=0
LogonID=SIDatavalidation
Password=~~~Password123
QuoteID=No
ReportCodePageConversionErrors=0
3) We updated the IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR with single quotes instead of double quotes in the DB features of the RPD
4) We updated the bash_profile file to point the ODBCINI variable to the path where the OBIEE odbc.ini file is present.
Export ODBCINI=/u001_OAS/Oracle/Middleware/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIApplication/coreapplication/setup/odbc.ini
The error in nqsserver.log file says “[nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: IM002 code: 0 message: [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.”Hi,
Make sure SQL Configuration Manager make sure the TCP/IP enabled. please try below method
Method 1
Re Create a new ODBC & Oracle Bi Server DSN Configuration test it and use it in the connection pools.
define your ODBC data source in your server where the BI Server is installed. Check your DB connections in your physical layer and make they are defined on your BI Server as well.
Method 2:
try using the complete TNS in below format in the datasource name section:
(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST =DB IP)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ) and provide the credentials.
Method 3:
To use the OCI call interface you need to have oracle client DB to be installed so that you can establish a connection using that DB credentials and connect to the remote dB and then import the tables.....this is the rule of thumb.
hope helps you.
Thanks

Unable to connect wireless print server while using wireless modem to ISP
Unable to connect an HP Laserjet 1320 thru the JetDirect ew2400 External Print Server to an imac G5 that uses the 2WIRE352 modem for ISP access thru ATT. Either the ISP is connected and works, or the printer works but no internet access. HP (after 1hr 15 min.) said I need to change/access the "infrastructure" in the OSX. Is that correct? & if so, how do I do this? Do I need to hire Apple Tech Support to do this? How much will that cost. I'm ready to send the Print Server back to HP for a refund.
I would post your issue in the Printing & Faxing forum area. More chance for some of the gurus like Greg Sahli to respond.

Ive just switched to a "Motorola SURFboard eXtreme Cable Modem" which is connected to a time capsule.
I am unable to connect to my internet via. wifi on my Playstation.
I have already tried many different attempts to connect to the internet. I have tried to directly connect to the internet using an ethernet cable as well as restarting my mac laptop and playstation. I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
Please help?
I tried being the most descriptive I couldI am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
What IP does your main computer get.. ?? Post a screenshot if you can as it helps to see the details.
When you open the airport utility on the main computer.. click on the TC what errors does it show?
They will list in the summary.
What mode is the TC in? If the setup went wrong it might be bridged when it should be in router mode..
Remember any time to change things around with cable modems you MUST shut down the modem as well.. it cannot change the MAC address of the first item easily so need to be off.. a few minutes at least.. sometimes up to 20min or longer. Make sure the TC captures the public IP on the wan interface.. which is the only way this will work with a pure modem.
The most recent TC can still have issues.. new AC version TC and AE have the Max amount of issues with SB6121 and 6141.. there seems to be some ethernet issue between them..
What model TC do you have??
You can slow the LAN port down or specify the actual speed in the Gen1-4. -
Unable to connect to Oracle using OCI Drivers on Linux
Hi Everyone!
I am facing a peculiar issue while using Instant Client on Linux ( 64Bit ) running on Red Hat 4.1.
I have downloaded the instant client version 10.2.0.3(.zip) .so files from the below URL
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxx86_64soft.html
UPloaded all the files to a directory under /opt and changed the .bash_profile file, the latest content looks like
ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export ORACLE_HOME
PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME
export PATH
TNS_ADMIN=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export TNS_ADMIN
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATH
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
export CLASSPATH
Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export Java.library.path
As i have downloaded the Sqlplus utility as well, i am able to connect to the Oracle FARM via sqlplus.
On the other hand, i am unable to connect to the same database via the application. It constantly gives me the following exception,

I have used the classes12.jar and ojdbc.jar which came with the download and nothing seems to work. A bit surprising when sqlplus works and not the application. I suspect there could be an issue with the driver class. I have been struggling to figure this out for days now...
Can anyone please share their thoughts if something similar was observed earlier please.
Any quick help will highly be appreciated.ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export ORACLE_HOMEYou don't set ORACLE_HOME with Instant Client.
PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATHThis is unnecessary.
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
export CLASSPATHThis is wrong.
It should be:
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc14.jar:<whatever else you need there>
Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export Java.library.pathThis is useless; java.library.path is not an environment variable.
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc10 in java.library.pathThe case is pretty clear. You want to use the OCI driver (your URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:oci:"), so the Java Virtual Machine is looking for libocijdbc10.so in the Java library path but cannot find it.
What is also clear is that the program does not use the CLASSPATH environment variable you set, because then it would never have found the Oracle Driver.
So it seems that your program is ignoring the environment you set (which would explain why it also ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH which you set correctly).
You must have the environment variables set and exported in the shell that starts the "java" executable.
Also, check that there is no other ojdbc14.jar on this machine (use "find").
To help you debug your problem, let me explain how Sun Java sets Java library path on Linux:
- If you start java with "java -Djava.library.path=/some/dir:/other/dir ...", the Java library path is set to exactly that value.
- If you do not specify -Djava.library.path, the Java library path is taken from the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
- Directories listed in /etc/ld.so.conf have no influence on the Java library path (which gave me quite a headache in the beginning).
Do you really need the OCI Driver? If you can do with the Thin Driver (i.e., use an URL that starts with "jdbc:oracle:thin:") you don't need any shared libraries at all.

Unable to connect to the Linux server - getting a message - username and pa
Hello,
I am unable to connect to the Linux server - getting a message - incorrect username or password . I have used this number of times and I am sure I am using the correct username and password.However, I tried to log in this time after few months to the Enterprise linux server and got this message. I have the VMware version 2.5.0 build-122581. I am using the Enterprise Linux 2.6.9-89.0.0.0.1.Esmp OS to use the Oracle EBS R12 off it. When I click the console in the VMware it starts the Linux. While it is at the 'Network starting, stage it shows 'Determining IP information : Failed' and few lines down the line 'starting smartd': Failed as well, while others are ok. I suspect these are cause of the message 'Incorrect username or password'.
What may be the issue? How do I resolve it?
Any urgent help would be highly appreciated.
Arunasish SircarHello Hussein,
I cannot copy paste as I already mentioned. However I am just typing it from the text that I see - bottom few lines.

Unable to connect to wifi modem using airport
I am unable to connect modem thru' airport utility whereas other devices (laptop/phones) are easily getting connected. I am even unable to create a new network even though the password is correct, which I have verified from modem properties. Even tough modem is working fine using ethernet, App Store is not connecting giving some message about missing secure connection. Other sites, even Apple support, are working fine. Why is mac refusing to add a new preferred network? This problem has cropped up suddenly today.
Can you connect to any other wireless network?

I didn't know what Airport you had, so I included all of them. Select your model and try reseting it. If worse comes to worse, just do a Factory Settings Reset. You will have to configure it like you just took it out of the box. I have found that this usually fixes most AirPort problems.

Unable to connect Z10 to WIFI 2WIRE MODEM 2710HGV White color modem
Hi, I bought Z10 on 30th March 2013 with great enthusiasm. That enthusiasm didn't last as I was unable to connect to the WIFI with the WIFI 2WIRE MODEM 2710HGV. I took the help of my service provider but couldn't solve the problem. Yesterday I went to the service provider STARHUB and they were able to connect to the internet via their server. Then I went to the BLACKBERRY expert center at the CATHAY, there also they were able to connect to their server. I have done the basic things like inputting the correct password etc. I even tried setting the home network ID on my z10 but that didn't help. Where can I go wrong?. It

Linux Clients Unable to Connect to VPN
Hello all,
There are a few linux clients that need to be able to access our OS X VPN server but I have been unsuccessful at setting up a connection. I have enabled PPTP and windows clients can connect just fine, but using the linux network manager, I cannot connect, I just get a 'Connection Failed' message. I have tried both locally and via internet.
Has anyone had success connecting a linux machine to the os x vpn? Any configuration ideas? I can post the vpn logs if that would help.
Thanks
GregGreg,
I've never gotten this working either, and I'm surprised how little information I found after hours of googling and reading. Have you made any headway?

Unable to connect to Internet via Airport Express - 'cannot contact server'
I'm unable to connect to the internet via my Airport Express. I'm using OS 10.3.9, and had the same setup with no problems at a previous address, but with a different modem from the same ISP.
My AE is connected - the light is green - and my mac is connected to the network in Internet Connect. But when I open Safari I get an 'unable to contact server' message.
I've tried rebooting everything (modem, AE, Mac), and leaving modem/AE off for several minutes. Also reset the AE, but to no avail.
The connection works fine via Ethernet cable.
Any ideas?Thanks, I checked out that advice doc (106798), but could not connect to the address (http://17.149.160.49) which is given to test if it's a DNS issue. My ISP says I shouldn't need DNS settings.
The service is PPPoE, and I went into Airport Admin Utility to check if the Airport was configured for this. Under Configure/Internet, I found it was set to 'Ethernet', so changed it to PPPoE. Then when I restarted I got connection status in the bar (and good Airport signal), but status flipped between 'looking for PPPoE host' and 'negotiating PPPoE host', sometimes sticking on one or the other each time I tried rebooting all gear.
Any other ideas? -
When I try to log into the game center, i get an error message that says: unable to connect to server due to an error communicating with the server.
I have logged off iTune and any other app I was logged in, I have done a hard reset of my iPad, I have reset my modem, but nothing had any impact and I am now frozen out of my game center.
Anybody has an idea of how to resolve this?
Thanks,
J1) May be there is a mismatch with the jar file name and the filename in the jad properties ( happens only if you rename the jar file)
2) Check hollywood jad properties and the ringtone jad properties. May be the complete url is required for the jar file.
3) If you are using any restricted APIs in your midlet, then make sure your jad properties has the required permissions. -
Hello,

Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11.3 kernel version: 3.0.76-0.11 IBM
NDB and Server are review 69 SP06
