Stability problems with PC companion
Hi!
Just out of curiosity, am I the only one having stability problems with my PC after installing PC companion?
I'm getting three or four freezes per day after installing the suite and none after deinstalling.
("freezing": neither CtrlAltDel nor normal pushing of the switch off button work. I have to press the on/off button on the PC for 5s for a hardware switchoff)
We' seem to have traced it to a problem where a driver has the same name as one already installed on windows (apparently some fingerprint stuff). Unfortunately my colleague can't remember precise details anymore as it was some time ago.
Does anyone experience similar problems?
Lots of Greetings!
Volker

Performance and Stability Problem with PE9
I just upgraded my computer to a Core i5 with 8G of memory and everything is running much faster. But my NEW PE9 just run very slow. Some of the simple tasks take 10-30 second to complete. Even Windows 7 will often come out to ask if I want to wait for PE9 to wake up or kill the process. When I want to change the size of a video clip, it just doesn't work at all due to performance. It will take PE9 20-30 seconds to resize the video clip. Without some realtime feedback of the size, it is impossible to do the resizing and this is a very fundamental operation. PE9 often crash or seize up as well, I didn't have any of these problem with PE3.0. I upgraded to PE9 simply because my PE3.0 for WIndows XP is not comletely compatible with Windows 7 (some of the text displace does not show up).
Do anyone else have issue with performance and stability? Some general comments, and reading (some for PPro, but concepts are the same)

hi all,
I've been playing around with qemu last week, but i'm experiencing some stability problems. But I can't really evoke a crash, it's just when i'm doing something in qemu (trying to install damnsmalllinux on hd) en that doesn't really work like it should, my entire pc hangs. If I'm lucky and the qemu window didn't have the focus, I can ctrl-alt-backspace en restart X, but the qemu sessions keep running (hanging?) in the background. pkill qemu doesn't cut it either.
As my laptop is getter somewhat older (2002), I'm a bit worried that the hardware is getting flaky.
Running kernel26 2.6.22.5-1, with qemu but without kqemu.
How the test what's the real problem?QEMU has never felt very solid to me. I suggest you try VirtualBox.

Stability problems with Win7 x64 and Boot Camp 3.1...
Before I was running win 7 with Boot Camp 3.0 and On top of that I installed my Chipset and Graphics from Nvidias Website. System was running without any major problems.
Now I have win7 and BootCamp 3.1 and the laptop runs like crap... System freezes sometimes only for a minute most of the time I need to hold power button.
The last time I has ScanDisk start on me and start checking. it found about 200 missing files some unindexed and MFT bitmap was repaired...
Do not know why, I'm unable to figure out what was causing that.
Currently I have win7 x86 with bootcamp 3.1 installed and The system works good.
I think there is an issue with the 3.1 x64 driver package.
If anyone has any Ideas on what I can do to figure out why the system runs so unpredictable with 3.1 x64 drivers installed. I'm whiling to experiment and reinstall win7 x64 as many times as needed so i can send an error report to apple to get this issue fixed.Wow, i've been running windows 7 64 bit in boot camp since I got my copy as a beta tester in July and never had any issues like you're describing. Boot camp 3.0 worked fine (other than the light in the audio port and minimal touchpad control, and the still present inability to dim the screen dynamically based on brightness around me). And I've had no problems with boot camp 3.1 so far. In the previous BC versions, I went to the nvidia site and downloaded whatever the current driver was for the video, but nothing specific for the chipset. With 3.1 I haven't done even that, just using what the boot camp update installed. Have you tried it with just the BC 3.1 drivers, not getting anything extra from Nvidia or anyone, just to see what happens from that point first?
About the only time I had any issues with diskchecking is when I accidentally close fusion and it abends my windows session. I make a point then of booting and telling it to ignore the disk check, editing the registry to reset the flag so it doesn't do it, then just run a disk check from within windows telling it NOT to fix anything, so that it can verify it's clean. I found the normal disk check in the preboot environment is horrendous on the MBP, takes me literally hours to run through despite it never finding anything to fix. -
Hi,
We have upgrade from CF 5 to CF MX7, since then our server is
unstable the CF service seems to be crashing every day or every 2
days. Is there a fix to this?> i must be making it up then.
That was my first thought.
Seriously, people are often wont to blame something else for
their own
shortcomings. I don't doubt that your site was stable under
CFMX61 and now
isn't stable under CFMX7x. In a big application (which yours
no doubt is),
there's a lot of scope to encounter *something* that in
CFMX61 zigs, but in
CFMX7x zags, and that could be causing problems for you; but
it's not
inherent instability in CFMX7, it's just "whatever code
you're using
doesn't work quite the same". Your code could have been
inadvertently
leveraging some sort of CFMX61 bug which was fixed in CFMX7,
or something
like that. An obvious example of this sort of thing happening
is when CFCs
were finally made to work properly in CFMX61, and suddenly a
lot of code
written in CFMX60 stopped working as expected (whilst not
actually
*erroring*). Or when CFMX7 "fixed" the way CFMX61 duplicated
objects:
instead of converting it to a struct, it just threw an error.
Obviously what you're experiencing isn't as obvious as "that
behaviour now
throws an error", it's more insidious. But I'm "sure" that
it's a problem
with your code, not a problem with CFMX7, intrinsically.

Big stability problems with 875P
Hi all,
Please can I get some advise from you all about the problems im having with the 875 mobo.
The system is totally unusable. I managed to get XP-pro installed eventually after numerous blue screens and supposedly unreadable files on the new and definately good XP CD.
I thought things were getting better, and XP seemed ok; but after a sucessfull shutdown now it wont start up again. It says that windowssystem32configsystem is corrupt or missing... again.
This is the 6th time ive re-built the machine and on an earlier build I lost a brand new IBM HDD to the board when it crashed and blew it up.
Ive get the RAM to 2.7v, and performance to slow with automatic DRAM timings. This was the only setting that I had any success installing XP with - and I tried loads! Hyperthreading, BIOS shadowing and BIOS cacheing are disabled too. Ive even tried bios version 1.6; but dropped back to 1.4 because things seemed worse with 1.6 running.
Am I going to have to re-load windows again?
I use the PC to record music in a studio, so stability is critical for me. If anyone has any suggestions to sort this out I would be extremely greatful :D . Thanks!
My set-up:
MSI 875P-NEO bios ver. 1.4
2.6 Ghz P4 @ 800Mhz FSB
2 x 256Mb Winbond DDR400 RAM
3 x IBM Deskstar HDD
350W Silent Forton PSU
Zalman Heat-sink & fan
Sparkle Geforce2 440MX 32Mb

I've been trying to get my system going for a week, see:

Try running memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) and see if you get any errors. If so, just don't replace the memory, try getting anther brand.

Stability problems with Microsoft PlayReady Client SDK for Android v 3.0
Hi,
We have begun working with the Microsoft PlayReady Client SDK for android v3.0 and on android 4.4 + we are experiencing the following problems on a nexus 7 (Android 4.4.4) and another nexus 7 (Android
5.0)
Doing a seekTo(new position), getDuration is returning a wrong value.
Changing audio on .ismv with multiple audio tracks results in bad/random performance on progress of the video and general instability in playback
Are these known issues and if so is there a known workaround or a scheduled date for a fix?
ThanksPlease email [email protected] for this question. Azure Media Services doesn't provide client SDK.Thanks.

Stability problems with 2560x1440 + 1680x1050 configuration
Hi,
I'm experiencing a reliability problem when using a 27in external display on my macbook pro. I used this display at 1920x1080 for a time (on a single-link DVI connector), and then eventually ran it at 2560x1440 with a displayport cable. When running at the higher resolution, I notice some reliability problems:
* Sometimes, when connecting or disconnecting the external monitor, the computer freezes (usually at a screensaver), and requires a hard-reboot, with kernel log errors like "NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout!"
* Sometimes, when connecting or disconnecting the external monitor, the graphical desktop restarts, and there is a stack trace starting in the nvidia driver (I don't have it to hand) in the system log
* Sometimes, when exiting a screensaver, web browser windows appear with junk/fragments of other windows rendered in them until I move them.
These are things which happen when running the external monitor at its full resolution, but not when running it at a lower resolution. The display on the macbook itself is always active as well.
I have disabled "Automatic graphics switching" in case that was the problem, but am still having reliability issues.
Am I at the limit of what the graphics chip is capable of? Is it supported to run an external display of this resolution and the internal display at the same time?
I'm using a 2010 macbook pro with the following display configuration:

Stability Problems with P7N Diamond Continues
Big bummer. I've had this system since April, took a month to get it working as the first board I ordered was bad, this one seems to be a bum board. I've came here and a few other places, but help has been kind of hard to find.
Here's what I got:
MSI P7N Diamond
Intel QX9650
2x 2GB mushkin DDR2 1066 (XP2-8500) Timings: 5-5-5-15 2T
I have 4 HD's: all are seagate baracudas: 250, 500, 750, 1TB
MSI NX8600GT1GEZ
At this point overclocking is out of the question. All I want is a reliable PC that runs to its specifcations. RMA-ing this board is a last resort as often enough the RMA boards aren't worth a crap anyway, dont know if this is just the case with lower-end boards, but I hate having to wait, and I'm really ticked about the whole thing.
The computer reboots at random, I've found "more stable" configurations, but usually the machine will not stay running for more than 24 hours without a reboot. The most stable configurations are with the official 1.2 BIOS, setting the NB to 1.250 v, CPU Volt: Auto, SB: Auto, DRAM: 2.10, and I have manually set the memory timings: CL: 5, trcd: 5, trp: 5, tras: 15, and Command Rate: 2T. The FSB Speed: 1333, and the DRAM Speed: 1066. Temps are normal, and range from about 100 F at idle, and 120 F load on the CPU.
The voltage on the CPU is on the high side on Auto, the QX9650 can run on as little as .98 v at stock and this board is giving it 1.23 v on auto. The board also tries to set the timings on the memory to 7-7-7-24, which I feel has something to do with it.
I'm not an overclocker, I don't know what all these voltages do, I've only changed settings that have either been reccomended or have a warning setting (ie turn red).
I'll try a beta BIOS if one is available, but I was unaware that this board doesn't fully support the 45-nm CPU's.
There is NOTHING wrong with any of the hardware (except the board perhaps), I've tried other memory, PSU, even RMA the CPU, does the same thing. Everything has been tested, every possibility I can imagine, this problem has been haunting this system for months, and I'm almost to the point of buying a cheap as board that has some credibility that my hardware will work.
This is my most critical computer, I do everything on it, but I didn't buy a $300 motherboard to have these problems, or find that my CPU scores half of what it should when it is running stock, everything on this board is below stock, benchmarks are way below what they should be.
I'm up for some ideas, suggestions, if needed, I'll RMA the board, but it the return board does the same thing, I've lost all my faith in MSI. My last system had a P4M900M2 and it kicked butt, and it's a $50 board! Go figure these boards are worse than imported cars.Quote from: NovJoe on 27-September-08, 12:40:17
By means of instability, can you describe the symptons of events that happen?
Can I have a list of the PSU models and RAMs models which you have tested?
Have you try the hardware on another board? If you have done so, what are the results?
I have not tried any of my hardware on this board, I have tried other memory on this board, this is the only board I have avialable to me that support LGA775 so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on that. The memory I tired, couldn't tell you the exact model, but it was Apacer DDR2 800, and was listed under this board as tested memory, i do remember that much- if that helps any.
As far as overclocking, I was told that overclocking my rig would make it stable, which i feel in this case is a little more than bumping the FSB eitherway. But no this happens under "stock" settings. Orginally with the 1.0 BIOS the machine would sometimes give me a multitude of BSOD, CLOCK_INTERRUPT (A clock inttrupt was not recieved in a timely manner on a secondary processor), DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Only way to get the machine to run "stable" is to severely underclock, with the FSB at 1137 and DRAM at 1034.
Other things. Benchmarks (SiSoft Sandra Lite 2007)
CPU: Drystone: 39000 MIPS / Whetstone: 28000 MFLOPS
Memory: 7 GB/sec (1066 with correct timings)
Both appear to be under par, CPU particularly, and in the event of tinkering, only see a jump in performance when adjusting the multiplier from 9 to 10.5, which isn't stable, stable enough to run a benchmark. So I'm not sure where the problem is.
This might help, the original thread from back in June.

Stability Problems with a K8N Neo4 System
I just purchased the following system:
MSI K8N Neo4-F
Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
1GB Corsair 2.5 CAS PC3200 (400)
MSI Radeon x800 256MB
WD 7200 RPM 80G HD
Antec True430
NEC 2500 DVDR
I installed XP Pro and had just about all of my drivers installed when I began to see random lock ups where the mouse and everything would freeze without coming out. I would reboot, the same thing would happen. I reinstalled windows again. Same. I swapped the PSU, thinking it could be that, but no avail. I had the memory in the 2 green slots, which seemed wrong, so I switched it to green 1 and purple 1. I switched the voltage on the ram down to 2.5v. Nothing has seemed to help yet... I'm still getting these freezes, any suggestions?
Thanks,
JohnI got the same problems. Suddenly there was no response to my keyboard and mouse.
I tested the memory with memtest86, but no problems showed up.

Stability Problems with Games, Help!!!
Welp this is the second 3200-64 Newcastle Processor and MSI K8n neo plat MoBo that i have gone thru and still the same problem. I can't play games without my comp lockin up. It goes anywere from just freezeing to completely shutting off. I also get that call of duty problem were it freezes for 2 seconds. I have gone thru 3 diffrent types of memory(Elixer, Kingston, Cosrair), 2 diffrent HD's, WinXP home to Pro, ATI 9800pro to a Nvidia 4200 with no luck. I am useing the bios out of the box and have not bothered updateing because from what i read it hasn't solved the problem. I have spent about $200 on techs trying to fix the dam thing and it still does it. Can anyone please help me. I am about to cave in and buy a diffirent companys MoBo.
AMD 64 3200 Newcastle
MSI K8N Neo Plat.
1gig Elixer Memory
450watt PSU
9800pro 256
If you guys need any more info tell me so i can post.
Thanks in advance. Not sure about the cause of your prob, but in itself, the 12v amp on that PSU sucketh...
Does your vid card have a separate molex in? Use a separate power connector for it if i has a power in molex (dont connect anyting else to that molex cable set).
Set the vid cooler on "high" setting (isnt there a switch on the back?)
Try using only one stick of RAM in 1. Move it around.
Check the grounding of the psu. Maybe a wire from the case screws on the psu to a mobo fastening screw would help.
Make sure that the AGP card is installed correctly (all the way in). Some cases are somewhat askew, and if you tighten the screws on the cards it lifts the cards out of the pci/agp ports.
Im voting this as a PSU / power related prob. I had similar probs wiht my old Athlon 1200 when i used the 250W psu that came with the case.
On the bright side, youre gonna have a mighty spiffy shiny new computer by the time your done... -
Hello everyone
Can anyone tell me whether Adobe have definitely decided to release an update/patch for the stability problems with PrE8? It was mentioned in another post has yet to be confirmed. Can anyone help here?
Thanks, AndyIt's a sad state of affairs when:
1) The program doesn't work for many (vast majority?) users.
2) Adobe will not release a patch.
3) Adobe will not acknowledge there is a probelm.
4) The tech support is useless.
5) They do not pay attention to the forums.
How is that a good business model? Yes, I know I am preacing to the choir, but none of the other venues are worth anybody's time.
Carry on.

the problem is the MB doesn't seem to be disabling the onboard video like it should when i attach an expansion card into the agp slot (using an MSI G4MX-TD8X). i've tried everything i can think of to get the dang thing to post... or at least show it posting. after i attach the card, w/out reseting the bios or anything, i can hear it post and start windows etc., but just no video. i returned the last vid card thinking it was a problem with it, but alas when i tried the new one same thing was happening ;( my stats on what is currently installed as far as hardware is at the bottom. but basically my question is this, am i supposed to disable the onboard video via jumper or something? or is it like i think and auto disables it upon connection of expansion card? possibly a bad MB (i really hope not as i did a dang good wiring job)? i emailed MSI support to no avail as of yet, course it's only been like 24 hours, but you'd think they'd have an 800 number or something to contact them. :( i did update the bios last night but haven't had a chance to try out installing the vid card yet. will post back if that ended up working.
okay, for the specs:
350 Watt Enermax
MSI K7N2G-L
AMD 2200+ XP
256 Kingtston 333 ram(have another 256 to install after i get things ironed out
MSI G4MX-TD8X (at least trying to install this, using onboard vid atm)
D-Link NIC
board is set to 133FSB, if it's in safe mode it doesn't post at all ?( hehe. of course it will post in higher, 166 is highest i've tried and it ran stable, but put back down to 133 for troubleshooting purposes with the vid card :(i've thought about that, but with my drives attached and everything, i'm hovering around 200W total... did the math. but did forget to mention, so far using the onboard video (even with FSB overclocked to 166) haven't had any stability problems with the motherboard, which is why i haven't stripped it out yet to go get another one. i checked stability w/ 3dmark2k1 and about a 2 hour session of JKII running everything at full, even with quincunx enabled but got choppy a bit with that in parts. and btw, you'd assume correct with me moving the monitor adapter.

Stability problems since the last update
hey there,
It's really easy and intuitive to work with Muse but since the last update I am facing a lot of stability problems with the software, just wanted to know if some of you do so too or I should reinstall it. Here are the Major Problems,
- Zoning in further than 125/150 % will crash the program
-I am currently working on a 30mb (muse file size) big homepage about 8000px long. I didn't have any problems when stretching the page so long in the beginning but now the program will crash as soon I try so change the site length, including click an drag at the bottom and manual input via site->site properties.
I work with Windows 7x64, a I7-3770 and 16gb Ram.
I use the other products of the CC as well and didn't face any stability problems so far even though i think some of them need way more workingpower :/
So, what do you think?
All the best, LucasIf you have a large image on the page that was imported using File > Place or as part of a slideshow and it's being cropped in Muse, zooming in/out on the page can trigger a crash. I wish I could say this was newly introduced, but it's not. It's a bug we've been living with for awhile because the fix requires significant architectural changes. We've made those changes for the next major release (due out later this quarter), but this bug is still in Muse 7.
You can avoid this crash by resizing and cropping the image(s) outside of Muse before bringing them into Muse.
If you're interested in working with the new release in Beta, all subscribers who can accept the terms of the Non-disclosure Agreement are invited to join the Adobe Muse Private Beta Program at http://museprerelease.com
The crash when changing Site Properties may, or may not, be related to the large image(s). Can you provide a screenshot of any errors that appear? Thanks.
