Stable at at rubbish speeds and then randomly drop...

This is driving me up the wall,
1) My speeds are terrible at the best of times, if over £150 million has been spent on the UK broadband infalstructure then why hasn't my line/exchange got any better?
2) My hub will sync to a pretty rubbish 3-4mbps with less than 15db of noise on the line and be stable for a few days, then randomly drop to 160kbps with over 30db of noise
I have contacted BT multiple times and they do the same old diagnosis and end up re setting my line, it works fine for a week or two (if I'm lucky) then one day, boom, 160kbps ADSL speed. This is simply unnaceptable, I contacted BT again on Monday but this time they havn't even responded. Unless this issue gets resolved Ofcom will be hearing abouth this. We are paying £25 per month for a service that is about as fast as good old IDSN!

    When you say  "could not be opened"- what are you referring to?  A double click of the mouse should view the clicked image in Loupe view- the same as pressing [E] on the keyboard for an enlarged view. (And a second double-click will take you back to library grid view.)
    To "open" an image in the Development module requires you to select the image then press [D] or click on the [Develop] button.
    When you say "could not be ...moved" -what are you referring to?  Are you trying to move an image file from its place in a folder to another folder? Are you just wanting it in a collection? When you drag an image to a collection you are only placing a link to the image in the collection- not actually moving any file. The image will stay exactly where it is in its original folder and will remain as a thumbnail preview in the Library Grid view.
    Are you having any "mouse" problems that may be changing its actions in LR ?
    Do you see an exclamation mark on any image borders ?
    Let's keep working on this. I am curious to see you find an answer.

    For your issue - Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.
    Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
    Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.

    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
    In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
    System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
    Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

    Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
    Delete all extra entries that you find.

  • I use to have over 8,700 songs in iCloud and then all of a sudden all of my devices erased everything and then randomly added some songs here and there and now I only have about 600 songs.

    I use to have over 8,700 songs stored in icloud and all my devices recognized them fine. Then one day everything erased and then about 200-300 came back, on their own and then a. Kills more hundred came back and I'm up to 600 but now I can't find anymore of my music in iCloud.

    Go to the top of the iTunes window and put the cursor over track name. Click the arrow to the right of the now playing track name and Go to Song.

  • Firefox 3.5 and up randomly drop connections

    Greetings! The problem I'm having is: Every time I've tried to install and use Firefox 3.5 and up, as I'm browsing the web and I go to, say, click on a link, Firefox will randomly "drop" the connection. It'll pause for 10-15 seconds, then pop up a generic "cannot find server" message. I then go to reload the page, and for another 10-15 seconds it won't even attempt a connection -- it'll just instant-reload with the same generic "cannot find server" message. After that, it will mysteriously be able to connect just fine... for about 2-5 minutes. The problem repeats... over and over...
    I should mention that I constantly have a "ping www.rr.com" window open in the background, and even when Firefox is "unable to connect", the ping window shows my connection is just fine. All of my other programs are able to connect just fine as well -- only Firefox 3.5+ or programs based off of Firefox 3.5+ (SeaMonkey 2.x) have this problem.
    Thinking it might be an addon problem, I've completely uninstalled (even using Revo Uninstaller) and reinstalled Firefox 3.5+, and even with absolutely no extensions installed, it still randomly drops connections.
    This problem also happens on my netbook PC, again with a fresh Firefox install (even on a fresh Windows format + install) and a solid ISP connection.
    I can confirm encountering this problem with Firefox 3.5.4, 3.5.5, 3.6.6, and even with SeaMonkey 2.0.3 and 2.0.5. On the other hand, Firefox versions 2.0.0.20 and SeaMonkey 1.1.18 are NOT affected by this problem.
    I hope this problem can be resolved soon, since sites like Youtube are starting to really dislike Firefox 2.0, and I'd like to use up-to-date browser extensions. :(

  • How can I stop iTunes from dropping my iPhone 5 when connected with USB cable?  It sees it and start a backup and then it drops and tells me cannot find phone.

    My HP notebook 64 bit Windows 8 after the last iTunes update will detect my iPhone 5, sync and when finished with thy sync I start a backup to my computer.  It runs fine for a bit and then gives me message I have changed settings on my iPhone 5 and asked me if I want to update.  I OK the question and runs a bit more and then drops the connection telling me cant find my iPhone 5.  I can restart iTunes and start over and does the same thing.
    ITunes update 11.1.1.62 had difficulties with the updates on 64 bit Windows 7 and 8.1 causing an error on boot other trouble.  I found solution on research that insturcted to Remove iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Support and Apple Update and reload iTunes old version.  I simply reloaded the new version becasue did not have the old version of iTunes.  I have been working fine with the old version.  I know problem is a simple setting somewhere but it is NOT SIMPLE to me since I dont know where the find the simple setting.
    Will someone tell what to do.  I appreciate all you smart guys.

    My apologies...the version is 11.1.4.62 not as stated aboive in my problem description.  I'm trying again and it just finished syncing fine and my iPhone 5 is still connected to iTuns physcially with USB lightening cable and is displaying the iPhone icon top right.  I clicked on it and iTunes is now "hung' or  locked up.  Shows to be an active running application but can't get back to it so willl have to kill with task manager.  There is some kind of problem going on with the latest version of iTunes and Wndows 7 and 8.1 or something.  My iPhone 5 now has a new feature that it is now asking me if I "Trust" this computer.  iTunes just came "unhung" after several minutes while I was typing this. Now I am going to start the backup to this computer HP Winsows 8.1 and iTune 11.1.4.62 and see what happens.  Says it is Backing up Jerrys iPhone but the Barber Pole progress bar is not turning an iTunes is hung again and I cant get back to it from this page I am typing on.  Maybe it will eventually release as it did a moment ago.

    MMy phone was activated earlier this month and it's has randomly unactived itself? it won't let me activate it because it's still connected to my iTunes account... I can receive calls as well.... What the **** is going on and how can I fix it TONIGHT?!

    Plug it into power, and hold down the home and the sleep/wake button for 30 seconds.
    If this doesn't work chances are something is wrong with your iPhone, I'd suggest taking it to an Apple Retail store. www.apple.com/retail (You can change your country at the bottom of the page if need be, that's for the US)
    Also, if you look in the headphone jack... or look into the bottom where the dock connector plugs in... and you see a red circle... You've set off the Liquid Contact Indicators in your iPhone by getting liquid in your unit. That would definately be a reason for your iPhone to not be working.

  • Gathering data at high speed and then proccessing it

    Using LV 8.0 I have to read two channels 16000 times at 10Khz. I used an express vi that feeds directly to a write to spreadsheet vi and it works nicely. However I would like to use a polynomial that converts the voltage of one of the channels to a temperature. When I put the polynomial ( in a formular box) in between the express vi and the spreadsheet write by using split and merge data functions everything slows down and wont capture all the data. So I was thinking about using a sequence structure and reading the data in one frame and processing it in the next one. So, I was wondering in what form to pass the data to the second frame, building an array and passing it through a sequence local only gives me one line.
    Any suggestions will be welcomed.

    Using a sequence structure won't solve your problem. All that you're doing is moving the location where it's going to slow down. Besides, you don't need a sequence structure to enforce execution order.
    It sounds like you need to separate the data collection and the data processing so they operatate independently. This can be done in many ways. A queue is one basic way to do this. What is the purpose of the polynomial application? Is it being displayed on a graph? Are you saving it to file? Can you provide a snapshot of the code, or better yet, upload it?

  • BT Inifinity - Speed and Latency - Sudden Drop in ...

    Hi All,
    I hope someone can help me here, I'm really just looking for some advice and an opinion.  I have had BT Infiinity for around a year now, and, barring the first few weeks, i have had a stable connection of around 68000kbps down (sync) and 20000kbps up (sync), with a usually low ping of around 5ms to most UK Servers.
    The last few weeks i have had a sudden drop in sync to around 54000kbps, showing attainable as 62000kbps, up speed has also dropped a few meg. to top this off, the interleaving depth has gone from a solid fast-path that i used to have, and was completely stable. to a depth of 1050 (down), up is strangely still on fast-path though.
    do you think i have a line fault or is something effecting noise on my line? The biggest bug bear for me about this is the latency, as I am an an avid online gamer, when I'm not working or entertaining my 1 year old son.
    Before i even touch a gaming server, i seem to have a ping of around 20-35ms, which as other gamers will know, is not good.
    i have included a few graphs for the ones who know more about VDSL than i do, as my FEC errors seem unusually high.

    Thanks for posting. Have you tried the quiet line test? Dial 17070 option 2, it should be quiet but if you’re getting any noise on the line we’ll need to look into that for you.
    If it’s all clear can you try posting a few tracerts i.e. one to the game and one to the BC site for comparison. I’m sure we can help with this.

  • My iphone 4 charges nicely sometimes, and then doesnt charge at all sometimes

    it'll charge normally and then ill have to charge it again awhile later and then it just stops and wont work and then randomly starts. what to do?

    Clean the dock connector using a soft, dry brush.
    Use a supported charger.
    Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

    From your post I see that your iPhone 4 is unexpectedly shutting down while you're using it.  To help resolve this issue please follow the directions outlined below.
    If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it
    You might see this unexpected behavior on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch if you have an older version of iOS. These steps can help. 
    Make sure that your device is up to date and your apps are up to date. If you still see this issue after updating, contact Apple Support.
    Learn what to do if your device won't start up past Apple logo or doesn't respond.

  • High noise margin, low speed and repeated drop out...

    Hi - I have a Home Hub 3 which is always dropping the connection.  Unfortunately it gets re-booted alot as this seems to be the only way to get things moving again.  I have just ordered a new router/modem to ss if that will hold the connection better but have been reading these forums and see that the Line Status and Speedtest are a good place to start.  My Line Status shows a noise margin of 17.7dB - could this be my problem?

    Ha - many thanks the quick reply but I am un-masked already as not having a clue what I am talking about! A few hours spent reading up on things before I posted was not enough! I am plugged in to the test socket - have just done the quiet line test on 17070 from a corded phone and there is no noise. A bit of history - 18 months ago we had issues with water damage to underground lines to the house and we are now on the last usable pair (?) at that time I had all extension wiring reoved and new Master socket fitted. We have been OK but not spectacular since - we struggle to have 3 computers running off the net at times and I dont beieve we are getting anywhere close to our expected speed and then recently we have experienced drop outs and really slow speed as mentioned in original post.

    Every now and then (randomly and not very often) one of the fans on my MSI GTX 780 gets stuck on 100% after windows 7 (64 bit) have loaded.
    It is impossible to get it to slow down by using any software or by restarting the computer (or even by turning it off).
    The Only way to get it back to normal functioning is to open the computer and stop the fan with my hands for a while. After that it works like it should, until next time this bug happens.
    Has anyone experienced anything like it?  Can it be solved or is the card broken?

    1: the serial number of your MSI GTX 780 (leave off the last 3 digits)
    2: a copy of your cards current VBIOS (download this http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ and run it and it will bring up GPU-Z and then click on the little icon at the end of BIOS Version and choose save to file (should be a under 1MB file) then upload it to somewhere like dropbox.com and give us a link to it there)
