Stack canvas on a tab page

Hi ,
Can we display a stack canvas on a tab page.
If yes pls explain how???

Yes it is possible, but it needs some work.
You need to create the stacked on the content and set the viewport X Position & viewport Y Position coordinates to display it on the tab canvas.

Stacked canvas as a tab element

I am working on a form say 'A'. In this form, I have a tabbed canvas 'B' with 4 tabs.
I created another stacked canvas 'C' on which there are elements from 3 different blocks. Now I need to make this stacked canvas as an element of tab2 in canvas 'B'. I.e., if the user clicks on the tab2 of canvasB, it should show the stacked canvas C below the tab.
How can I do this?

It is not possible to define stacked canvas for a tab canvas.
To avoid such circumstances,
in pre-form, you write
HIDE_VIEW('STACKED_CANVAS');
SHOW_VIEW('TAB_CANVAS');
If tab canvas is not showing up, set the fol. property
raise on entry : yes
viewport x and y position to 0
and try runing ,
if the tab canvas is showing up, gradually return to the required position
else check for any hide_view(tab_canvas) code in your form.
or you can reduce the height of content canvas to view tab canvas. Check the window name of content and tab canvas is same.
And in when tab page changed, you write for each tab page name
IF :SYSTEM.TAB_NEW_PAGE='PAGE2' THEN
go_item('some item in tab page 2');
SHOW_VIEW('STACKED_CANVAS');
ELSIF :SYSTEM.TAB_NEW_PAGE='PAGE1'
go_item('some item in tab page 1');
HIDE_VIEW('STACKED_CANVAS');
END IF;
Why that go-item is required?
Suppose your cursor is in an item in the stacked canvas, and if you click on page 1, The stack canvas wont disappear.

How do put a stack canvas inside the tab canvas

I have content canvas and tab canvas Now i want to put a stack canvas on the tab canvas .suppose tab canvas page are Page1,page2, page3 when i click the page1 then display the stack canvas 1,and when i click page2 then
display stack canvas 3 ..... so on. help me to find the solutions to this Issue

You would use the when-tab-page-changed trigger to use hide_view and show_view commands to hide one stacked canvas and show another.
Just keep in mind that for a canvas to be displayed, the cursor must be in an item on that canvas, or at least in an item NOT covered by the canvas.

To pull stacked canvas into a tab canvas....

I am new to forms and handling a form. I need to pull a stacked canvas in to a tab ed canvas. I am not able to do it. How could i posiblly do it.

i have created the stacked canvas.and moved into the content canvas...but i am not able to pull the content canvas into the tab canvas by adjusting the X-Y view ports ...could you expalin it to me in detail....it would be great help.

Urgent: Stack Canvas in Tab canvas

Hi,
I have a very urgent requirement. Please help me solving this.
I want to have One tab canvas which has three tab pages.
On the First Tab i want to fetch the data from some table say XX_CUSTOM_TABLE.
Now, This should be displayed in Tabular format with Horizontal and vertical scrolling as the table has many columns.
Please give me step by step instructions so that it could be implemented quickly.
P.S : I am using Oracle forms 6i.

Hi,
1. When i open the form only the fields added in the tab canvas are visible.
Where u have drawn the stack canvas,you need to create in the main canvas where ur tab canvas is there and u need to drag it to tab canvas.Have u created the trigger when tab_page_changed?
2. when i change the tab page from tab 1 to tab 2 and then again get back to tab 1, then the stack canvas fields are visible and the fields in tab gets invisible.
Just place the stack canvas correctly after the fields in tab page 1.
3. The stack canvas is not horizontally scrolling.
Just go to the property palette of stack canvas and make yes to both horizontal and vertical to yes.
Do i have to create a stack canvas separately? and then how do i drag it into tab canvas. i am still not getting this. because.
when i open the tab canvas page i do not find the stack layout so that i can drag it like a normal text item.
Yes u need to create a stack canvas separately. Just open the Mani canvas the tab pages are there, then in that click the stack canvas icon and create a stack canvas and create all the fields, and move the stack canvas to the tab page. And u need to create a when tab page changed trigger at form level.

Tab canva disapear whith stacked canvas

hi guys,
in my form there is:
1. content canvas
2.tabbed canvas
when i put a stacked canvas the tabbed canvas disapear. any help?

stack canvas can not put on top of tab canvas.
what I did is to put tab canvas on content canvas and make tab canvas height very short, and then put stack canvas right below tab canvas that look like it's on tab.

Tab canvas disappear when the main stacked canvas reach the end of column

Hi all,
I have 3 canvas ( 1 main canvas, 1 stacked canvas ) and this link to 1 tab canvas. All these are in the same window.
Whenever using the keyboard to press enter navigate from column to column and when it reach the end of the main canvas which is about to jump to the stack canvas, the two canvas ( stacked & tab ) was hide by itself. Even I have stated earlier to show all canvas in the pre-block trigger. when I keep on press the enter to jump to the next stacked canvas, this stacked canvas is being shown again. My tab canvas was not appear if I am press the enter key. However, if I press the arrow key down the tab canvas is appear. This I wasn't do any code to call the tab canvas.
When I keep on press enter and reach the end of the stacked canvas again the tab canvas is disappear, unless I have press the arrow key down to display the tab canvas.
Trying to use show_view( tab canvas ) in many trigger but still does not show the effect.
Anyone has this experience before ?

Stacked canvas on tabbed

Hi ,
I want to put up a stacked canvas on to a tabbed one. Read somewhere its not possible ... but the way around would be to make the content canvas tabbed. how does one do that?

Putting a stacked canvas on a tabbed one is possible, making a content canvas tabbed is not.
The idea is that you show or hide the stacked canvases depending on what tab is showing, or if you want a stacked canvas to be visible on all tabs then just create it in the canvas editor window, as a stacked canvas on the main content canvas, and set the x/y coordinates so that it displays in the same location as the tab canvas.

I want to show a stacked canvas on a tabbed canvas. on stacked canvas, there are many fields that cannot be put on tabbed canvas and i must have to put these on stacked canvas with scrollbar.

When the Layout is open, just add the stacked canvas by selecting it in the tool bar and drawing its bounds onto the tab canvas.

I have to show vertical scrollbar on my tab canvas.
I have one Content canvas on which I have 1 tab canvas with 8 tab pages.(sec1,sec2,sec3 ..sec8)
I have another tab canvas(kind of seb section for the above and each has 3 tab pages) like
Sec1 will have (sub sectiion tab canvas) which has again 3 tab pages 1.1,1.2,1.3 and soon
now on the third tab page of the sub section or second tab canvas, I need vertical scroll bar to fit number of fields which are more than the tab canvas size.
all are from the same data block

If the items in the area you want to scroll are all in the same datablock you can set the Scrollbar properties of the block to be displayed. This will enable scrolling of the items that are within the specific block. If you items are assembled from more than block, then using a stacked canvas is a better option for enabling scrolling within an area.

i have created a stacked canvas under dtl canvas because
I have a master-details form. my details has more columns so im planing to use stack canvas.
but at run time it is not displaying?

hello,
then you should set viewport x and y position of stack canvas below the height of button in DTL block.
means If button y position = 170 then
viewport position of x = 5,
viewport position of Y = (y position of button + height of button+5) . (for Stack canvas)
Same way,
If stack canvas height = 270 then
viewport position of x = 5,
viewport position of Y = (viewport position of Y of stack canvas + height of stack canvas+5) . (for Tab canvas)

Problem with Stacked Canvas

Hi,
I have prepared a stacked canvas on a content canvas.
Both content and stacked canvas are based on the same data block. In the data block 2 items are on content canvas and the remaining are on stacked canvas. I have also a scroll bar on the content canvas so that we can scroll to the right as there are many items on it.
so 1st and 2nd fields are on the content canvas and remaining ones are on stacked canvas.when i tab out of the 1st field stacked canvas goes invisible, but when i tab out of the 2nd field stacked canvas again comes back.
How can i avoid this?
I want the stacked canvas always to be displayed when i tab out from any where.
One more problem is, when i click on the 2nd field the stacked canvas goes invisible too

Check if the second item overlaps the area of the stacked canvas. Forms always makes the current item be displayed fully and therefore hides all areas which would overlap the item.

Tabbed canvas on a tabbed canvas

Is it possible within 10g forms to place a tabbed canvas on the tab page of another tabbed canvas? I am not seeing a way to do it, but I if someone else has an idea about this, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the input. I have a three tabbed main canvas and on the first tab page I have two blocks in a master-detail relationship. The detail block has so many fields displayed that putting another field on it would be difficult without decreasing the size of the other fields or increasing the size of the window and canvas which would in turn effect the other tab pages and all other forms using the same window size. If I were to use the tab canvas on a tab page of the main tabbed canvas would I need to shrink up the main canvas in any way to display the topmost canvas, which represents the detail block, at the bottom of the page? I would still need to display the entire tab page of the main canvas for the sake of the other tab pages or else wouldn't shrinking the main canvas briefly mess up the coordinates of the other fields displayed on the other tab pages?
Also how do I specify that I want the details tabbed canvas to display on the first tab page of the main tabbed canvas? I didn't see in the property palette of the details tabbed canvas an option to tell it to display on a tab page of the main tabbed canvas.

Tab pages color

Hi,
I have 3 tab canvases and each tab canvas has 6 tab pages. I was wondering if it's possible to change the background color of the tab pages? for example tab canvas TEST has tab pages a,b,c,d,e,f. I like to change the background color of 'c' tab page?.

I don't think you can change the color on the tab at the top of the tab page. That seems to be controlled by some Windows settings, or something else.
What I have done is to change the title of the tab page, maybe adding asterisks, (or your "-->" characters) to the title of each page that has data.
