Stack configuration in Cat 3550

Hi,
I have connected two cat 3550 in point-to-point stack connection. I want to know the software configuration part of this. Will there be any master slave mode? how many management IPs will be there for this stack? will all the 48 interfaces will appear in a single CLI?

Hi,
Please paste a show version from your switch.
The link that I pasted is from the lastest IOS's switch configuration guide 12.2(25)SEC release in july 2005.
I still believe that you can set up a switch cluster on 3550.
The Point to point stacking that you have setup is a gigastack configuration, which will give you 1000 MBPS full duplex backplane connectivity with stack switch switches. Still you need to set up switches as a switch cluster so that you cna manage them using a single IP.
Switch Clustering technology allows customers to manage a stack of devices within a wiring closet or a broadly dispersed set of devices across a campus as a single IP entity. Switch Clustering technology uses standard TCP/IP packets to distribute and collect management information for all switches in the cluster. Switch Clustering supports a broad range of physical interconnections, including the GigaStack GBIC.

Hello,
I am trying to install Enhancement Pack 1 (EhP 1) on our DEV system, using SAINT in SAP NerWeaver 7.0.
I have downloaded the EHP1 and cpoied them into the "EPS\in" directory.
When I press the u201CStack Configurationu201D button, I get a pop-up that says, "There are no stack configurations available in the Maintenance Optimizer".
Does it require any files like .XML to load the files? Please let me know your suggestions.

what happened to us was we did not download the upgrade programs for EHP1. Make sure you download both SPs in note 1169247. The first one has the SPs and upgrades SPs for Solman 7.0 to EHP1. The second download for the SPs for EHP1).
Also, we did it manually without the using the button 'stack configuration. Hope this help.

It is not a good security practice, but in your workflow global preferences (workflow-->administror workflow-->Administration) you will see workflow administrator as SYSADMIN (probably), you can change that to either * or workflow administror responsibility (whoever holds this responsibility or role is considered as admin). Once you make that you should be able see everybody's workflow processes.

Removing Flex Stack Configuration from a removed member

Hi all
I'm pretty new to Felx Stack.I tried to stack 4 C2960-48TDL switches.All four switches were configured seperatley with different Managment IPs(192.168.172.11/12/13/14) before
stacking.And The highest Up time switch became the master as expected and stack was accessble(SSH) via the managment IP(192.168.172.11) of that partcular switch.All went well up to that.
But when i removed the 4th member(original managment IP wa 192.168.172.14) of the stack from stack i needed it(4th Member) to fall back to its initial config and to acess via its managment IP(192.168.172.14).But it was still stuck with stack config and was not able acces(SSH)s via the 192.168.172.14 IP.even couldn't
acess via the IP of 192.168172.11 and even Host name was showing as the master switch.Can some one please help me with this...?

What you are seeing is a normal behaviour.
Stacking means the rest of the member switches SHARE THE SAME CONFIGURATION with the stack master. All the configurations of switch 2, 3 and 4 were overwritten with the configuration from switch stack master 1.
Look at the way the interfaces are named/numbered at the switches removed from the stack.
You will need to run the command "switch renumber " and reload.

this day, I tried to change of password about my Catalyst 3550 L2/L3 Swithes.
but, I find out a problem.
next is process my change of enable password.

the end
I tried to enable password after disable.
but, I can't enter with changed password.
I don't know why can't enter.
Do you know this ?
and how to setting enable secret pasword ?
I would like know how to set-up enable secret password on cataylst 3550 switches.

The enable secret will override any enable password that may be configured . Use one or the other and delete the one you aren't using . The enable secret is the preferred password due to md5 encryption and which can't be cracked by those nice little cisco password breakers they out everywhere .

I have recently bought four qty of WS-C2960X-48LPS-L also bought four Catalyst 2960-X FlexStack Plus Stacking Module, four Cisco FlexStack 50cm stacking cable and one Cisco FlexStack 3m stacking cable.I would like to create 2vlans with stack. Can any one help me how to configure it.

To see FlexStack operation and member status, use the Cisco IOS Software CLI command “show switch.” This command gives the basic information, including number of members, which member is the master, and state of all members. The following is a sample output of the command for a stack of 2960-S members:

ABAP stack configuration for content based message search in PI 7.

Hi experts,
I am trying to eanble Content based message search in PI7.11 SP10.
My requirement is to Filter message in PI moni based on a particular DeviceID field in the paylaod.I have set filters in SXMS_LMS_CONF.
But upon testing the extractor, the messages are extarcted based on the interface mentioned in the filter criteria, and not the particluar field of the message.
I have referred a few bolgs on this topic , but could not find a relevant solution to my issue. Am i missing any configurations in this? Or is his not possible without TREX.
Could anyone suggest a solution for this.

How to Configure CATS Profiles in order for the Hours to be posted to CO

Hi All,
I have quick question for you all, how do I configure the CATS Time Entry Profiles so as to enable me to post the Hours (Different Receiving Cost Centers & Receiving Internal Orders) to CO.
Currently I enter time using TCODE: CAT2 and a CATS Profile and Save the Timesheet.
Following which I Approve Times using CAT4.
Then when I try to transfer time to both HR and CO using TCODE: CATA time gets transferred to HR Time Management Infotypes but not to CO.
I tried a couple of other TCODES as well i.e: CAT7 & CAPS and tried posting to CO but I am getting a message saying that "NO DATA TO TRANSFER" despite there been ample data fit to be transferred to CO.
So, my question to you all is how do you handle this situation in your implementation/organization.

Im not sure why this isnt working.
Try approving timesheets using CATS_APPR_LITE
And check whether the timesheets are approved.
Once that is done.
Run CAT7
This would post the data from CATS to controlling.

Catalyst 3550 stack and etherchannel

I wonder if it is possiable to organize gigabit etherchannel from stack of two catalyst 3550 to server. The problem is to connect server's 2-port NIC to both switches, not just one, and have loadbalancing over 2 links while staying connected in case one of the switches goes down. If not, is it possiable with 3750 switches.

This is not possible on 3550's as they do not use true stacking feature on that and moreover both the switches have different configs and they do not get Sync. I think it is possible in case of 3750's, though havnt tried myself.

Catalyst 3550 & HSRP v2

Hi,
I am testing on lab equipment (2 Catalyst 3550 and 1 Catalyst 3560) HSRP version 1 and 2.
I successfully created a load balancing between the two Catalyst 3550 on a couple of vlans (11 and 12) on ver 1
now, just adding the command "standby xx version 2" my hosts on the 2 vlans are completely unable to ping the virtual IP def. gw
on debugging i checked that
hello msgs are exchanged
the two cat 3550 are seeing each other on HSRP (active / standby roles)
the real ip addresses are pingable
rebooted the swiches (just as a last resort try)
deleted arp chache on hosts
removed the auth on hsrp
all of this no effect...
i also tried to modify the priority on the cat 3560 (before he was on both vlans in standby) to make it the active one and with the same config it worked flawlessly...
My only idea is that there is a bug on CATs 3550 (IOS: c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE4.bin)

I also tried to have just 1 group (1 or 11) and avoid a load-balance on hosts: same results.
UPDATE:
Tried with a couple of 1841: everything is working fine
tried changing 3550s hsrpv2 groups to higher values (like 1111 & 1112 instead of 1 & 2) : no way
still on the idea that is a 3550s bug...
