Stacking Toolbar or More Shortcuts

Stacking is a great feature of LR.
Ctrl-G & Shift-Ctrl_G are the only short cuts so far (?) with the rest accessed via Mouse Right-Click (Win).
Would like to see some form of Stacking Toolbar or more short-cuts (User Customisable?) for Stacking.
Especially "Move to Top of Stack".
Cheers
Chris

Thanks for the 'S' shortcut.
I have started using stacks for entire shoots (a bit like Michael Tapes does in his video tutorials) Has been working quite well so far - better than stacking various versions of an image. It is much easier to browse my folder collection. When I click on a year e.g. 2006, I see one thumb for each shoot I did that year with a number showing how many photos in that shoot. I can expand and view from there or go the the appropriate shoot folder very easily. Nice to have to S key now to avoid the right click menu..

an unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

The Exception Handler gave all the info that you need. No need to print the whole stack trace.
    The exception handler says
    Exception Details: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
    TABLE1.NAME
Look in the session bean (assuming that is where your underlying rowset is). Look in the _init() method for statements similar to the following:
    personRowSet.setCommand("SELECT * FROM TRAVEL.PERSON");
    personRowSet.setTableName("PERSON");
    What do you have?

  • Two things: more shortcuts + configurable SQL formatter

    Hi folks,
    thanks for the great tool!
As you can read from the subject, I have to small recommendations for you:
First: make keyboard navigation possible through the use of shortcuts. Simple things such as switching from tab to tab, should be possible to do whithout the hands leaving the keyboard.
Second: The SQL Formatter (Ctrl+B) is a great tool, I miss from many other commercial editors!!! In order for it to be as useful as possible: please try to make it configurable. There is not THE one way of formatting PL/SQL the right way. You probably have some kind of pl/sql template. However, let the format be configurable. There are all kinds of different formatting habbits in developer teams. Let this wonderful please every one of them.
Thanks again for the good job.

Does anybody know, if my request of a configurable SQL formatter is planned for anytime?

  • More shortcuts for future iOS updates

Would like peoples thoughts on the following shortcuts.
In addition to the drag down notifications menu I was thinking of the following drag down menus for quicker and easier access.
1.Drag down from 3G (the left of the time) to toggle 3G, Wifi and data on and off.
    2. drag down from bluetooth (the right of the time) to toggle bluetoth and location services on and off.
This will make accessing these services much easier which will help to quickley turn them on and off making them great power saving features for ALL iOS devices (ipad, iphone, ipad)
    Thanks,
    Pe88lz!

I'm all for quick access to data, wifi and bluetooth.
If Apple would open the notification plugins (where stocks and weather are) to outside developers that would be a great place to put these kinds of choices.

  • Using mail : no more shortcut for Contact's group ?

    Hi,
I begin to use Mavericks/Mail (by the way, no Mail Discussion?), and I can't find how to send a message to a group that I created in Contacts (a smart group). I have to select each member to copy in the adress field.
Do I make a mistake? Is it a bug or a lost function (I hope not!) ?

Sorry, I hope you got the humorous side of my previous reply, I wasn't being flippant.
I agree with all of your points.
I've sent several feedback messages to IMO over the last few months including bug reports, feature requests and praise.  I really mean it when I say that it's the best IM app.
    Positives:
    Clean interface
    Dark background
    Many protocols
Low battery drain when in background
    Reliable
Audio/vibrate notifications on messages for unseen (not current) chat window
Multiple simultaneous connections allowed and all keep up to date
Online secure history of entire chat (searchable!)
    Negatives:
Split-screen keyboard input not properly implemented (might be a prob with Swype)
I've tried (extensively) Nokia IM Chat, Fring, eBuddy, Palringo, Nimbuzz and Slick. IMO is the best.

  • How can I get the toolbar print more bold or a little larger?

I have tried settings, looked through all the Option Options. Changed the font under Contents.

Use this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface:

    *Big Buttons: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/big-buttons/

    Hello,
I am curious, is there a way to scroll up and down the toolbar using a shortcut. In Quark it was CMD-OPT-Tab (or shift tab to go up). is there something equivalent in InDesign?
    thanks

    Hi, Babs:
You can open the Quick Apply dialog box with Cmd/Ctrl+Return and type abbreviated fragments of tool names to select some tools. For example:
    Type this
    abbreviation
    For this command
    eye
    eyedropper tool
    swap
    swap DnArrow
    swap fill and stroke activation
    swap fill and stroke colors
    gap
    gap tool (new in CS5)
    th to
    type on a path tool
    moo
    smooth tool
You may need to use DnArrow to select the exact item you want. Press Return to execute the selected item. It takes a while to get used to Quick Apply, but you'll probably like it better than you expect to<G>.
You can experiment to find the shortest memorable (for yourself) abbreviation for most of the toolbox tools and their options. Actually,  Quick Apply can bring up almost any of the zillions of  InDesign's commands, those on the menus, and many hidden ones, plus, variables, styles, scripts, and more. Search for Quick Apply in InDesign help, and search for "InDesign Quick Apply" (without quotes) in Google.

  • Understanding Version Sets, Stacks, Picks, & Album Picks

Aperture's documentation is very good in most respects (adjustments being the major exception), but I found it very difficult to put my head around the whole version set / stacks / picks / album picks thingy.
While working on some images this morning, it all became clear.
    1. Version Sets vs. Stacks
A Version Set is a single Master image with two or more Versions.
Version Sets have a light gray border around the contained images, and a single dark gray border around all those images in the Version Set.
A Stack is a collection of versions that do not use the same Master.
A Stack can contain single Versions or Version Sets (and Version Sets remain grouped within a Stack: you'll see a light gray border around the Version Sets and a dark gray border around everything in the Stack).
If you Stack two or more Version Sets, and then choose the Unstack command, all the Versions become separated--even if they share the same Master (i.e., UnStacking a Stack does not result in Version Sets, as you might expect--instead, it results in all individual Versions).
You can re-Stack these separated Versions that share the same Master, and you'll get a Version Set (light gray border surrounded by dark gray border) automatically (which is good, since there is no Create Version Set command).
From all these results, it appears that a Version Set is simply a Stack where each Version shares the same Master. It is different from other Stacks in that these Versions have a common light gray border.
    2. Picks vs. Album Picks
Create an Album and add two separate images (i.e., two Versions with different Masters). Call it Album1.
Duplicate the Album. Call it Album2.
In Album1, create 3 different cropped versions of image1 (so you can tell the Versions apart). Likewise, create 2 different cropped versions of image2. You should now have 2 Version Sets in each album.
To help keep track of which Version is the pick, press 'T' to turn on image overlays so you can see the Version Title when you pause your mouse over an image.
Click on the number in the top left corner of each Version set to condense them. Notice that the left-most image (the Pick) is the image you se in the condensed Version Set. The same image will appear in Album1 and Album2.
Open the Version Set again, and click on the right-most image, then click the Pick button on the top toolbar (not the Album Pick button; the Pick button). Notice the rightmost image physically moves to the leftmost position. Close the Version Set and notice that this Version is now the one that displays when the Version Set is condensed.
Go into Album2 and condense the Version Set there, too. Notice that the same Version as in Album1 is the Pick. That's because we have not selected an Album Pick yet. The default Pick is the Pick for all albums until you pick an Album Pick for one or more albums.
While in Album2, open the first Version Set and select the right-most image in the Version Set. Now click the Set Album Pick button on the top toolbar. Notice no images move this time (compare that to clicking the Pick button on the toolbar). Instead, a black checkmark in a gray circle appears over the image. This means this Version is the Album Pick. Collapse this Version Set in Album2, and notice that the Album Pick image is what shows in the condensed Version Set. Now go back to Album1, and you'll notice there is no checkmark on any images. Collapse the first Version Set, and you'll see the left-most image (the default Pick) is the image that shows up on the collapsed Version Set. If you wanted to, you could open up the Version Set, select the middle image and click the Set Album Pick button, and the middle image would represent the Version Set in Album1, while the 3rd image would represent the Version Set in Album2. Version Sets can have no Album Picks, in which case the default Pick (the leftmost image) is what is selected for a collapsed Version Set.
OK, let's have some real fun now! Select the first Version Set, then command-click on the second Version Set to select both Version Sets. Now right-click (or control-click) on one of the images and select Stack. Both Version Sets should be combined into a single Stack, but you should still be able to see the light gray border around the two Version Sets within the Stack.
Click outside the Stack to deselect all the Versions. Now click on the left-most Version in the right-most Version Set. Click the Pick button on the top toolbar. Notice the entire right-most Version Set moves to the left to become the (default) Pick! Press command-Z to undo your change.
Now click on the right-most Version in the right-most Version set. Click the Pick button on the top toolbar. Notice that, not only does the entire right-most Version Set move to the left, but also the rightmost Version moves to the left-most position within the Version Set! You're not only telling Aperture to make the second Version Set the Pick for this Stack, you're also telling it that the right-most Version within that Version Set is the Pick for the Stack.
Play around with setting the Album Pick within each Stack and comparing Album1 with Album2 when you collapse the Stack.
This is a fun exercise that can really help you understand the difference (and similarities) between Version Sets, Stacks, (default) Picks, and Album Picks.
Please correct anything that I'm misunderstanding, or feel free to add anything you've found out about these topics.

Aperture's documentation is very good in most
respects (adjustments being the major exception), but
I found it very difficult to put my head around the
whole version set / stacks / picks / album picks
    thingy.
While working on some images this morning, it all
    became clear.
    <...>
I thank you for the clarification on those matters, while I have used stacks quite a bit I have not yet explored in full detail the Version Set concept (though I had a rough idea of what it did). That was a great job of investigation.
To help bring a similar level of understanding to others regarding the Aperture adjustment tools (which as you note are not well documented), I have published an Adjustment Tool Guide (2 MB PDF) that covers all of the Aperture adjustments - you can find it at:

Just follow the Adjustment Tool Guide links.

  • Self-created stacks disappear and can't find folders in Finder

Hello, a few times now I've lost stacked folders I've created in the docks. I haven't been able to figure out what's happening exactly, but it seems to have something to do with the desktop display. Most recently I went into Display in System Preferences to run a calibration. Without clicking on anything, the display resolution changed (which of course I changed back), my desktop image was gone (again, no problem to fix) and two question marks replaced the stack folders I created in the dock. (My Documents and Downloads folders were not affected.)
After looking through some discussion topics, I created another stack folder (yes, to the right side of the divide) in the dock just to test things out. I went into the User file. I see the Documents and Downloads folders in there, but not the stacks I created.
So--this is because the stack is just a shortcut, right? Ok, I can get that. However! The stuff that was in those other folders I created is totally gone. So where WAS the contents of those stack folders before the folders were lost? After I dragged the folders down to the dock I deleted the orig folders off the desktop to clean things up--not realizing they were short cuts and thinking this was a great way to keep my desktop nice and clean.
Because of a separate issue I stupidly emptied the trash before trying to completely solve this problem. So, I'll never know if I would've been able to retrieve those lost items. More importantly, I want to understand how this works so I can prevent this from happening again. It seems to me like these folders are so fragile. Therefore, of limited use. If that's the case, fine, it just seemed so nice to be able to put folders down there instead of hanging on the desktop.
    Thanks!

Yes, they are shortcuts, or aliases as we call 'em on the Mac. If you delete the original, and it sounds like you did, they no longer point to anything and once the Dock wakes up to that you will see a question mark where your stack was. You can create aliases yourself anywhere, or in the Dock or Sidebar, and then delete the aliases, and the original folder and its contents are unchanged. That's not what you did. You created an alias and then deleted the original.
What you should do is create folders inside your home folder, rather than on the Desktop, then drag those folders into the Dock. You will then have a tidy Desktop, and quick access to the folders from the Dock.

  • Toolbars keep getting reset

This is an ongoing issue after I upgraded to FF 4. I currently have 4.01 and running Vista. Every 2 days or so , when I boot the computer at start of the day and start firefox,my custom toolbar with some shortcuts would have disappeared. I have a backup of the localstore.rdf file which has the toolbar info in it and what I do is close firefox and then replace the localstore.rdf in the profile folder with my backup then after this I start firefox to see my toolbar back.
What I think is happening is firefox sometimes resets to default or currupts the localstore.rdf during boot or shutdown. What could be a possible fix for this?
    Thanks

Although the profile database can -and often times will- become corrupt the real issue is FF4+ will always refuse to remember custom toolbar setups. Therefore the basic article posted on toolbars resetting contains truth and is useful many times it ultimately is wrong since the real problem is the browser design itself. The supposed benefit of FF4+ is speed- but that also is done by making it impossible to run more than a couple of add-ons. In effect it means that if you want anything other than an incompetent Chrome imitation and you want the ability to run enough add-ons run 3.6 until they actually release a competent **cough cough** upgrade.

  • GIF files not being cached for toolbar (WEB Forms)

I realized that the GIF files we are using
in our toolbars are not being cached by the
browser. I analyzed the file XLF.LOG and
the files always have access code "200"
(not cached). The file REGISTRY.DAT has
the same problem. Only the JAR file has
access code "304" (cached). Although these
GIF files are small (~900 bytes), it takes
many seconds to open each form when someone
executes our application using a low speed
line (many of our forms have toolbars
with more than 30 icons). Is there any
special configuration I have to do or this
will be corrected in future versions?

RoboForm usually has an update ready for a new version of Firefox within a week of Mozilla releasing the new version of Firefox. You just need to install the latest Roboform '''adapter''' for Firefox.
Install the Roboform adapter for Firefox 3.0 - 3.7a1pre from here:

You want the one under '''Full RoboForm for Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape'''.

  • How do I get toolbars for Mozilla in Windows 8? I can't print an email, save it to a document folder. FRUSTRATING!!!

Where are the toolbars on Mozilla for Windows 8? There are no navigation, print, save as options. Have read several articles online, but when I right click on a blank space on a tab bar - no toolbar options show.

By the way, if you are in a pop-up window where you are prevented from showing toolbars, the keyboard shortcut for print is Ctrl+p and the keyboard shortcut to save a page is Ctrl+s. To open a new (normal) window, try Ctrl+n.

  • Support Photoshop Elements 5 Stacks and Version Sets

I would like to see stacks in Lightroom that work the same way as those in the Photoshop Elements 5 Organizer. PSE5 stacks are far more capable than Lightroom ones. (Can stack across multiple folders, can include version sets in stacks, etc.)
Additionally, I would love to see support for PSE5 Version Sets. These are similar to the "Stack with original" option, but work more smoothly (latest version is always automatically on top, for example).
Since Adobe has already implemented these in PSE5, you would think it would be pretty simple to also include them in Lightroom.

Please post Photoshop Elements related queries over at
