Stacks - unable to update applications

After installing Leopard, I instantly created a couple of stacks of applications. After putting all my photo applications into one stack, I was unable to update Aperture. After trying to install the update, I received an error message stating that I didn't have 1.0 installed, which I did.

I don't think this is necessarily a defect of Leopard. Under previous Mac OSes, Software Update wouldn't locate applications if they weren't in their folders of install (e.g., Pages, Keynote, and now Numbers should be in the "iWork" folder created by the iWork Installer, and the iLife applications need to be in the "Applications" folder where they are originally installed to be located, rather than being conveniently tucked away inside a user-created "iLife" folder).
Another way to get the benefit of having a convenient Stack or Stacks AND having Software Update successfully locate your applications is to create your Stack folder(s) as desired and fill them with aliases of your applications. Of course, their icons will display the locator arrows on them when displayed from the Stack(s). Not sure if that'll bother you or not.

    Then I repaired disk permissions and finally I completely erased and restored my iPhone BEFORE I synced it after the moving of the Mobile Applications folder.

    Thanks Neil. I guess would have to buy the app to do that. I bought the computer from a neighbor who is now deceased. Pages was already on it. When I try to update from the app store, even though I'm signed in, the update wants the neighbor's password. Any other ideas?

    When I try to update applications I receive this message:
    "Account Not In This Store:
    Your account is not valid for use in the U.S. store. You must switch to the Israeli store before purchasing".
    The phone was purchased in Israel, I never used it in the U.S. or purchased any application from U.S.
    How can I switch to the "Israeli Store"?

    I haven't updated my applications in my Ipod Touch for almost a month no. I have 62 pending applications for update and everytime I try to update them by clicking the "62 Updates Available, this certain error pops up:
    We could not complete your ITunes Store request. An unknown error occured (5002).
    There was an error in the ITunes Store. Please try again later.
    I'm not the only one experiencing this, also my brother won't able to update his as well. What seems to be the problem with Itunes Store?
    Before, it was easy. Oh and by the way, I also tried updating from my Ipod but all it says that "all applications are updated"
    Please help, I need to update my applications.

    Do you have 2 separate Itune accounts? I had the same issue. It happens to me when I downloaded an app with my old account. I am now logged in with my new account and it tells me there is an update but I cant see it when I click on updates. Once I log out with my new account and log in with the account I bought the apps with I can see and install the updates.

  • Unable to update application

    A couple of weeks ago i got Navigon, the GPS program. There is now an important update for it and i want to install the update. I clicked on the update in my iPhone but the progress bar only went a little ways and then i realized, the update is probably too big to install that way and i would have to get the update by syncing with my computer, which is how the original app had to be installed. I connected the iPhone to the computer and opened the iPhone sync window and went to the applications window, and it had 4 updates, one which was Navigon. There was a button that said "Get Update." i clicked on it. It said "You have already purchased this item but it has not been downloaded. To download it, select Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu." I selected Check for Available Downloads but no downloads are available.
    Is anyone familiar with this? I found a couple of other examples of the same exact thing (with no solution) on Google. It wasn't Navigon, it was a couple of other applications, but same iTunes Store behavior. Does anyone know of a way i can update this program under these circumstances?

    i'm replying to my own question. I tried clicking on more things in iTunes, i got messages telling me there are no downloads, i started closing windows, giving up on the problem, but discovered a window in which the update was being slowly downloaded. It's about 1.5 Gigs. i'm not sure how it ended up updating the app, but it did.

    I bought a used mac mini and I was viewng the App Store and wanted to purchase IPhoto app but it was purchase previously and could not update because not associated with my Apple ID.  The error message reads I would need to purchase it again  My issue I have it the icon for the application just give me a the options to "update" and not purchase.  What do I need to do to purchase this app?

    You need to delete the app. The easiest way is to download the free app AppCleaner. Drag & drop the iPhoto icon on AppCleaner and it will find all of the related files and present them to you for deletion. After you have deleted iPhoto you can buy it for yourself.

    I receive the message " no update available for any application in my library " when I know there are updates. This started right after updating to iTunes 8.2 . I have deauthorized and authorized my computer, purchased new applications and redownloaded old applications so I know my connection is good. Any ideas , thanks for your help.

    Recently upgraded to iphone 5. phone works fine except I can't access itunes store to update/add apps. after entering my apple ID password, nothing happens. no error message, it just refreshes to last page.

    Reset the iPhone.
    Disconnect from the laptop first.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Restart your laptop.
    Reconnect the iPhone then launch iTunes, select the Summary tab.
    See if it says:  iOS 7.1.2
    Your iPhone software is up to date.

  • Why does my iPod say "Unable to Download Application"? Other apps will download just fine and updating apps isn't an issue either, it's just this one app.

    A few days ago, I tried to redownload Sims FreePlay onto my iPod. I needed more room to update it to the latest update so the app just stayed on my screen but it's as if it's waiting to download. Today, I freed up a good 2GB of space on my iPod so the app should have no problem downloading. Instead of downloading, it says "Unable to Download Application" and that it could not be installed at this time. I downloaded a new app that downloaded with zero problems and I even updated an app with no trouble at all. I've also tried to delete the app so that I could just restart the download but nothing seems to work. Please help me. My progress that's stored on the cloud is going to expire either tomorrow or Saturday.

    That meassage and that you can downoad other apps indicates an Apple problem. Nothing you can do except keep trying.

    Should be the account you registered your mac with, and/or the account you used during the setup assistant.
