Staging area error

It seems that I can't install Oracle 9.2.0.1 under Windows 2000 Pro. On the File Locations dialog where you specify Source... and Destination... I keep getting "There was a problem in accessing the staging area. Please make sure the specified values for 'Source' and 'Destination' are valid". Well, everything is valid. I have followed the Oracle installation instructions exactly as specified. Anyone else run into this kind of problem?

Did you ever find the solution to your problem? I'm having the same.
Thanks,
-Ken

  • Staging area error and universal installer does not run

    Everything was ok. I installed Oracle 9i r 2, AS 9.0.2, iFS 9.0.2.
Then I uninstall AS and iFS. But AS folder remains there (with inventory,contentsXML.. folder inside), even if I deleted it, when I tried to install AS again I get the error staging area error, and the folder appears again.
Another thing is that in oracle universal installer the installed and deinstall products options do not do anything. I only can select the install option
Did I do something wrong during the AS uninstall?
    What Can I do now?

copy disk to hardrive in a temporary directory. go to properties for setup.exe (right click on file used to install oracle). Select the compatiblity tab. make sure the check box "run this program in compatibility mode" is checked. In combo box select windows 98.

  • Problem with 10G R2 installation (OUI - 10133 Invalid Staging Area) on W2K3

I'm getting a strange error installing 10G R2 Database on a Windows 2003 server. I get "OUI - 10133 Invalid Staging Area. There are no top level components for Windows NT, Windows 2000 available for installation in this staging area." This happens when I choose an Advanced installation or when I choose a starter database.
The funny thing is that I've performed this installation with this exact installation disk on a virtual server on my laptop with Windows 2003.
Also, I ran a quick test with the 10G R1 installation files and I don't get the error. I want to run tests on case insensitivity with LIKE searches (a new feature enabled in 10G R2) so I can't use 10G R1.

I have seen that problem frequently and it is because for some reason the installer doesn't like burned CD's. Copy all the staging files over to disk. I usually download the zip files onto a staging drive on the server, unzip, install, then delete the install files when I'm done if I need the space.
This has two major benefits: I don't run into the "staging area" error and the install only takes about 30 minutes compared to about 3 hours when installing from CD.

  • Error accessing staging area

I'm trying to install Oracle8i 8.1.6 for Linux but when it comes to defining the source and destination directories and products.jar, I get the following error:
"There was a problem in accessing the staging area. Please make sure the specified values for 'Source' and 'Destination' are valid."
I double checked them and my source is: /usr/Oracle8iR2/stage/products.jar
    and dest is: /usr/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.6
    Any idea ??

I fixed my problem. Find note:74790.1 on internet. This is about how cleanly deinstalling RDBMS software. Apparently, Oracle was already installed once on my machine, but not entirely deinstalled, or at least, some components remained after deinstallation. So I followed the instructions of note:74790.1 and reinstallation was a success. You may have yourself some .ini files remaining or your registry uncleaned. Check if you have the file "ORAODBC.INI" in your system, back it up, remove it, and retry installation of Oracle universal installer.
    Wish you good luck.

  • Staging Area location

    Hello,
I am having trouble with the staging area on my enterprise manager 12c server. When i try to download an assembly it downloads to the default staging location which is /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/omshome_1/gc_inst/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman//stage.
Now when i try to appy the download so it gets moved to the 'software library upload file locations' which is at /u02/app/oracle/oms_shared/ i get the following error in the job:
Applying update of Oracle Virtual Templates and Oracle Virtual Assemblies type with entity ID : 99AED19240CD3922650F2A9255726868 and description : Database assembly for 11.2.0.3.0 Single Instance database with PSU1 on Linux 64-bit using filesystem based storage

This, of course, is true because there isn't enough freespace in /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/omshome_1/gc_inst/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman//stage.
What i would like to do is to move the staging area to a location on /u02 where there is enough freespace but for the life of me i cannot find where to change this. Does anybody know how to do this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Bert ten Cate

    Hi Bert,
You can add an additional Software Library location in Setup, Provisioning and Patching, Software Library. Create on OS an new directory and the correct protection. Use Add in the EM-console to add this new location.
    See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/softwarelib.htm for additional info.

  • Lookup issue when staging area diff from target

    Hi,
I am using staging area different from target (csv file to database)
Everything is working fine the source data is moved to target. The interface runs suiceessfuly.
Now i want to add a lookup during transformation using a lookup table.
When i do that using lookups in quick edit section, i am getting an error.
When i run the interface, the C$ gets created in staging area - that is correct.
However when inserting from staging to target, now the ODI searches for the C$ table in target area instead of the staging..
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Rosh

    Hi
1st thing you have to give the workschema for temp tables when creating physical schema in dataserver for target.
Then you have to select the workschema in overview of interface as "staging different from target".
After doing this when you will use predefined KM for the interface it will create temp tables in workschema.
Now suppose you are not giving the workschma at the time of creating physical schema and you have selected "staging different than target" in interface. Here your C$ table will be created in your workschema but I$ table that is used by IKM is going to be created on target schema. So for this again you have change the IKM KM i.e. where to create I$ table (wokrschema) by selecting the corresponding logical schema.
So its better you give the workschema at the time of creating physical schema.
Here is the query to give privilege by the sys_dba
Grant create any table to ODI_TEMP.
    Hope you got it

  • Staging area on source in Oracle

    Hi,
My source and target, both are Oracle DBs.
    a) I created one interface with STAGING AREA ON TARGET. For this I used LKM SQL to SQL and IKM SQL Incremental Update.
Its working fine and all the work tables, flow table etc are gettting created in the
Work Schema (ie. ODI_TRG) I have given while defining physical schema of my target.
I want to try with staging area on source....
    b) I checked the "Staging area different from Target" option and selected the logical schema of the source in the Definitions tab of my interface.
In the corresponding physical schema, Work Schema I gave is ODI_SRC.
Now I expected all the work tables, flow tables etc to be created ODI_SRC. But still they are getting created in ODI_TRG!!! Why???
But finally to insert/update the target table, its trying to read the flow table from ODI_SRC, even though it created the flow table in ODI_TRG!!!!
And as a result its failing with this error code...
    942 : 42000 : java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    Please clarify.

I think you didn't change your KM.
Step1: import the "IKM SQL to SQL Append" into your project
Step2: In your interface, on the definition table, select the "Staging Area Different From Target" checkbox, and select the schema of your source data in the drop-down list box.
Step3: go to the flow tab, and select the target, and select the IKM SQL to SQL Append.
    Step4: Execute.
Refer this thread what KM to change.

  • E$ table to be created in STAGING Area

    Hello All,
I have an interface that has Staging Area different from TARGET. I have created an ODI Constraint in the target table in my model. Currently, when I run the scenario, the E$ table is created in the target database.
Because we are planning to use E$ for the tracking purpose for which the INtegration team would have access.
    1) How can I force the E$ table be created in the ODI STAGING AREA (Database) rather than creating at the target database ?
    2) What is the use of RECYCLING ERROR in IKM ?
    Kindly clarify.
    Thanks

    Hi Nag,
Unfortunately a huge KM modification is necessary to accomplish this or divide in more than one interface (process). Let me try to explain:
An IKM Incremental Update create the I$ at target even when the stage area is another Logical Schema because it needs the target table to "decide" what records are to update and what are to insert.
Because of that, the internal the ODI algorithmic set the connections to the target once the I$ will be created there anyway.
To accomplish what you need it will be necessary to change the way that this kind of ETL is done and force the connections to the new staging area.
That is possible but will take some time.
    An alternative solution, by process, could be;
    1) make a copy of the target at staging area (if possible, I mean, if the amount of records allows it)
    2) add 2 columns to this copy to flag the kind of dml (flg_ins, flg_upd for instance)
    3) copy all desired constraints to the temporary table
    4) use the same original interface but change the target to the temporary table.
    5) at mapping check just "insert" to column flg_ins (value "Y" for instance)
    6) at mapping check just "update" to column flg_upd (value "Y" for instance)
    7) execute the interface
    8) create a procedure with 2 steps:
    9) step 1 - tab source: select all records from temporary table where flag_ins = 'Y'
    - tab target; insert into original target
10)step 2 - tab source: select all records from temporary table where flag_upd = 'Y'
    - tab target; update into original target
for the itens 9 and 10 will be necessary to choose the technology and respective Logical Schema.
If the amount of records at target doesn't allow this technique than:
Or will be necessary change the IKM
Or work with DBLINK from target to staging if both technologies are Oracle and to create a dblink will be possible. Any way IKM customization will be necessary, but a small one.
Does it make any sense to you?

  • Silent install of 10gR2 Client on XP: OUI-10133 Invalid Staging Area

    Hi!
I'm trying to install 10gR2 Admin Client on my Win XP workstation (XP Pro Multilingual, SP2) silently, but everytime I'm getting an OUI-10133 error.
If the installation is done interactively (from the same source), everything works fine.
Does anybody have a hint for me? I found a few notes on metalink referring to problems with the installation of Grid Control, but I think, this here is something different. I have one zip file containing the client installation, which has been extracted into one local directory.
    Regards,
    Daniel

I get a similar error when attempting to install Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) on a RedHat Linux machine. I can't get past the first OUI screen. I select either Basic or Advanced install, and then I enter the name of my Oracle installation directory.
The actual context of the error msg is:
OUI-10133: Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Linux available for installation in this staging area.
I click OK and that's pretty much it.
    What gives?
