Installing Oracle Apps on Linux Virtual Machine, but need patch "6078836"
Hello Friend's,
Hope you are doing well...!
I start my EBS Training in a functional role in less than 10 day's.
My dilemma is that i am having a heck of a time installing Oracle Apps on my machine. As recommended in many blogs, i've installed a virtual machine environment and then installed Linux Version 5 Update 5. Before i begins installing Oracle apps, the last step is to go to my oracle support "mos" and install patch 6078836, which i can't access. It seems to me as if that one should either have a paid oracle support account or be a part of an organization/company that has one. I can't get past the sign in page to install this patch and no where in these blogs does it say this.
Does anyone have this patch or has access to it or any knowledge or idea as to where can i find this?
As a back up i've started downloading Oracle apps for a windows server machine as well, in case i am unable to download this patch at least i have a back up. And the bad thing about this is the fact that i am in India and the bandwidth here sucks even with a 2 MB plan. With these speeds this 50 GB download will take another 3 to 4 days. And time is of the utmost importance for me right now..
Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated..
Thank you all in advance and hope that you have a great weekend..!Does anyone have this patch or has access to it or any knowledge or idea as to where can i find this?Even though any of us has the patch we are not supposed to mail it as this violates Oracle support agreement policy.
There is no other source to get the patch and most Oracle patches (if not all) can be downloaded from MOS website.

If you want to download Oracle 8i database, please see this thread -- oracle 8i and 9i

Please help me in this regardWhat all you have studied is basics. And in the institutes they only teach you 5% of actual work, Yes only 5%. They can not teach the whole 5 years learning just in few classes.
In real time When you are working as a technical consultant, you get to speak to functional consultants a lot of time for developing reports, customization, creating custom forms.... So thats why the interviewer has asked a mixture of both technical and functional.
The questions they asked also depends on the number of years experience you have in the resume ;).
How ever you can gain more knowledge from blogs and forums like this.
I will point you to few of them
Your first step should be reading all the documents related to technical filed from the following link.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B53825_08/current/html/docset.html
Then read atleast 10 to 15 real time issues related to your field from forums like this.
and read posts from oracle apps technical gurus like Anil Passi,
http://oracle.anilpassi.com/basic-concepts-list-of-useful-oracle-apps-articles-2.html
and links to all the technical blogs can be found at

Best of luck and you will get a job soon.

XML data into Oracle Tables. XML file on Application Server.Oracle Apps R12
Hi All,
My Database version : 11.2.0.2.0
I have an XML file which needs to be loaded into the Database Tables. How ever i do not want to use the XMLTYPE as given below
insert into test1 (
SELECT PrcDate, PmtType, PmtStatus, PmtTypeCount, PmtTypeAmt
FROM XMLTABLE(
'/WFPaymentAck/RejectedDom1ACH'
PASSING XMLTYPE( BFILENAME('ECX_UTL_LOG_DIR_OBJ','wf_test_xml.XML'), NLS_CHARSET_ID('UTF8') )
COLUMNS
PrcDate VARCHAR2(2000) PATH '@PrcDate' ,
PmtType VARCHAR2(2000) PATH '@PmtType' ,
PmtStatus VARCHAR2(100) PATH '@PmtStatus' ,
PmtTypeCount VARCHAR2(100) PATH 'PmtTypeCount' ,
PmtTypeAmt VARCHAR2(100) PATH 'PmtTypeAmt'
Because this way the XML file needs to reside on the DB server.
I am looking into other option of loading the XML file into a CLOB column of a table and reading it from that column.
I did a couple of tests and feel that this way also the XML file has to reside on the Database Server itself. I am not sure if this is correct or if there is any problem with our TEST instance.
++Can anyone let me know if i need to have the XML file on the DB server instead of the Application server to load into a CLOB column of table ??++
++Or++
++Is there any other workaround for me to load XML into Oracle Tables, while having the XML file on Application Server.++
Your immediate help is appreciated. I need to get past this ASAP.
Thanks in Advance.
VJ1) Are you asking me to create a folder on Database directory which points to a folder on the Apps server ?I suggest creating an Oracle directory object (a database object) pointing to a real location (folder) on Application server.
we DONOT want a hand shake between the DB Server and the APPS server.I don't see where the problem is.
I'm not familiar with Apps R12 but there's no doubt the two servers are already communicating, at least App server should be able to access the DB for the whole thing to run.
As I said :
One way or another, the data has to make its way to the database, there's no workaround to that. How do you imagine the data will end up in a database table if it doesn't come to the DB server?
There's no magical method out there, both servers have to communicate at some point.
About client-server approaches (client being here the App server), you can read about accessing the XML DB repository in the XML DB Developer's Guide : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e23094/toc.htm
Other option : SQL*Loader can load a CLOB, or an XMLType column too

Calling java code from oracle apps form
I've created my own java .class file and am attempting to call it from an oracle applications form. I am getting a runtime error while running the form, but I don't know what the error is because nothing is being reported to me.
I've created the .java file in JDeveloper, compiled it into a .class file, deployed it to a .jar file, and placed it on the application server in a directory that the CLASSPATH can see it. I've added it to the archive parameter of the appsweb.cfg file and see that the .jar file is being downloaded when the JInitiator of Oracle Apps is started.
I have also imported the .class file into the form via the Program -> Import Java Classes which resulted in PL/SQL package stubs created to call the .class methods.
When I run the form, the java code is activated on a triggering event, PRE-INSERT. There is no java bean item in a block or on a canvas anywhere. I dont' think I need there to be since I am simply using the java code to perform actions during PRE-INSERT, not to display anything on the canvas.
I have placed debug messages throughout my code and see that the error is occuring in the PL/SQL packaged stub at the line "JNI.GET_CLASS()" where the parameter to that call is the name of my class. I know it's erroring there because I am handling the "java_error" exception. I am displaying "ora_java.last_error" in the exception handling, but it is null.
I am at a loss as to determine why I am having problems and how to display an error. Any suggestions? I'm happy to outline my steps and problem in more detail if I have missed something obvious.
We are using Forms 6.0.8.21.3 with Oracle Apps 11.5.7.
Shane.Shane,
Don't loose the heart. You have come too close to end.
The scenario you have mentioned is very unique and something which will fit more in the forms forum. So I think that was a sincere answer to help you and not a "pass the buck" card type game :)
You are lucky that you got Tapash interested into this issue, otherwise you see there is no OAF component involved out here.
I have an article promised to some of the guys but will follow this issue.

URGENT: How to Run an existing Oracle apps page in Jdev 10g
Hi All,
I have downloaded Jdeveloper 10G with OA Extension from the patch 5856648. I am able to successfully run the "test_fwktutorial.jsp" and "HelloWordPG.xml". I need to customize an existing Oracle apps page for one of our client requirement. I've done the following:
1. Downloaded the BC4J components of the page which include xml and .class files from $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/ego and placed it in myproject( C:\p5856648_R12_GENERIC\jdevhome\myprojects) and also myclasses( C:\p5856648_R12_GENERIC\jdevhome\myclasses) folder of my jdeveloper.
2. Downloaded the mds PG.xml from $APPL_TOP/ego/mds and placed it in C:\p5856648_R12_GENERIC\jdevbin\jdev\oamdsxml\fwk with the appropriate folder structure.
I need to extend one of the VO and one of the controllers from the above standard oracle files. But since there are only .class files in the server, if I open the .class files, the methods are missing in those files. By decompiling the class files also, during run time it gives me error.
What is the right approach and steps to use the existing Oracle apps files. Is there some way in Jdeveloper where we can set the source of java file with compiled .class files. I'm not able to work in the Jdeveloper for this customization. Please could some one help.
Thanks & Regards,
Anita1st thing to make sure is that you want to do changes for an R12 instance because that's this version of Jdev is provided for.
Class files are required in myclasses folder only. Also page xml files should be in myprojects folder with the appropriate folder path.
Decompiling class files are only way to work with them.

Custom D2k form not displayed correctly in Oracle Apps 12.1.1
Hi,
I have created a custom form for Oracle Apps 12.1.1 using Oracle Forms 10g. This form was registered on DEV instance and it was working fine there. Recently the DEV instance is refreshed by cloning CRP2 instance. I used FNDLOAD to download the settings for my custom menu, function and form settings into LDT files. Also copied custom form FMB file.
I uploaded my setting for menu, function and form from LDT files using FNDLOAD on the DEV1 instance (refreshed DEV) and copied FMB file to custom top location and regenerated the FMX using frmcmp_batch command. The FMX is created successfully.
Now when i am opening this form, the form appears but the controls/items on the form are not appearing correctly.
I tested the same form on an another instance TST (cloned vision instance) using the same process i did on DEV1 instance then there it is displaying correctly but not on DEV1.
Can anybody help..
Thanks
