Stamina Extended standby mode: recommended apps/services list to be excluded

Hello, gurus. Would you please give an advice for the following: I switch on the Extended standby stamina mode, and I really want to exclude some applications and services from being paused in order not to loose phone flexibility completely. As for the apps, well, it mostly depends on the specific user and probably I can take this decision myself, but as for the services, I'm completely lost in this huge list. As for the half of them I don't know what they do actually. So, is there some recommended list of applications to be excluded from standby mode? Basing on your experience probably. Thanks in advance.

@uliwooly Thank you for your answer. But why does the developer include an option to set a list of "Apps active in standby" then? This is stated as a proved and working solution on the support page, but there are no recommendations there, which services should be kept running. You can also set up an app list to allow some apps to keep running when your screen is inactive.http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xperiaz3compact/kb/023101886c027a68013a30335ef3007772/ Or we just say all necessary apps are included into "active in stanby" list by default and we should't bother ourselves with fine tuning it? Regards,Nickolaus

Assuming that you are using Xperia Z1, it has Stamina Mode which is accessible from Power management. Stamina Mode is way more efficient. Following link can be useful >>Z1 Stamina Mode

I was not aware of the fact one could use ringtones as alarms, this will suffice! Although I foresee some very awkward times as the sound does not stop once I respond to the reminder (it keeps going for good five - ten seconds after I "stop" the reminder), but it's better than missing it altogether!
    Thank you very much!
Regarding the Alarmed app, doesn't it have to be running to actually remind you?
-Modular747: I don't know anyone who actually reads the terms of service agreement, those things are usually up to thirty, small print pages full of legal jargon. Rules, I do read - not the legal documents (also they often contradict the laws in my country, but that's a whole different story).
I agree with you - the average customer support consultant mostly cares about keeping his job and earning his salary (don't we all?) and thus racking up completted tasks (i.e. getting rid of customers as fast as possible - in a good mood). The "threat" none the less is real, if a cell phone causes me more trouble than it is worth, I will indeed throw it away (I have done so before) - and recommend a different brand to anyone willing to listen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and I've been faithfully using and recommending their producs for twenty years now, not because of fanboyism, but because they earned it. This calendar issue, however, is like a toaster that doesn't automatically eject the toast at the set time. I see it as a major flaw and after googling around a bit I see that it's been around since at least 2007 (THAT'S SEVEN YEARS!!) so I strongly believe they are aware of this problem by now, but are choosing to ignore it for some mysterious reason and it really ****** me off.
I will send the feedback but based on my observations I suspect the Send button is merely a cleverly disguised Delete button.

  • How do i figure it out what app use the cellular data in standby mode?

How do i figure it out what app use the cellular data in standby mode? I disabled the cellular data for 3 days, and my battery last longer. I don't use push notifications, neither location services. I'm not signed in in skype or any IM app.

Do you use push email?  Do you have accounts that have synchronized calendars associated with them?  Those features will still use cellular data in the background as the receive mail and send or receive calendar updates.
Some notifications, like push notifications from Facebook and other social networking sites may use cellular data in the background.  Basically, any automated data task like those may use cellular data when the phone is in standby (note that wifi would be used if available when the phone is active, but wifi turns off in standby and all data goes through the cellular data connection).

    Hi,
I am trying to bring up the siebel services while DB is in read only mode..
Can I bring up siebel services while DB in read only / Standby Mode ???

    Hi ,
Not sure. But I think you can, since bringing up the siebel service require some query from DB and some readings from the gateway.

  • Cmoprehensive default Safe Mode service list (also driver and start-up info would be useful)?

When my PC starts in Safe Mode, "connect to a network" works.  When I start in Standard Mode, it only sometimes works (usually it does not).  This results in multiple restarts per each use of the PC.
What might be different between Safe Mode and Standard Mode such that "connect to a network" works?  If you know, please help with that; otherwise, can we sniff it out by getting a comprehensive services listing and going through that into Standard
Mode one step at a time....

    Hi,
Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs don't run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7
Since this issue is gone in this mode, so some drivers or programs (might be installed recently, cause a bad effect) cause the issue, we can use elimination for troubleshooting.
Or we can return PC to a previous point at which your PC is functioning fine (but you will lose some recent configuration)

  • Standby-mode by accident whit pin request to reenter.

    Hello community,
I have a problem_ sometimes my bb sets into that 'kind' of standby mode, where nobody can reach me, because I got kicked out of the carriers circuit.
As soon as I notice it, the device asks me to reenter the pin to get into the carrier.
Sometimes there are a few days nothing happens and sometimes it happens twice or three times a day.
    ADVICE and HELP requested.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try booting into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
You may also want to talk to your carrier to see if they can look at their network for any issues.
Good luck and let us know!

  • How to turn off processes (battery drain problems even in standby mode)?

I have the new iPad (3) and a number of processes keep running in the background even though I have "deleted" them in the multi-task pane, i.e., I have double clicked the circle, held down each app and then hit the red dash so that no apps are running in the background.  For example, I keep getting notifications that apps need to be updated which means my iPad is checking with the app store - this is happening even though my notification center is empty. I also have a battery app that tells me 30+ processes are running even though I have no open apps. I understand that some processes must always run, but I would like to disable the unnecessary ones b/c I continue to have terrible battery performance, even in standby mode.
As for standby battery performance, the strange thing is that sometimes my battery doesn't drain in standby at all and then other times it drains over 10% over one night. Each time there are no apps running in the background and I have no idea what is causing the inconsistent behavior, but I can only assume there must some process issue.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Tablet PC calibration error in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 whilst in Extended Desktop Mode

    Hey everyone!
I've run into a snag which hasn't bugged me before because I never used a second monitor, but now that I do, Photoshop and Illustrator don't function properly.
I am running my Adobe products on my Lenovo X61 Thinkpad Tablet, which is Wacom PenEnabled. It's got the basic digitizer pen and pen pressure features, no stylus tilt or anything.
Whenever I run Photoshop or Illustrator in Extended Desktop Mode so I can have a different window open on my external monitor and the Adobe app on my tablet screen, my stylus goes strange. It seems to think that the extended desktop is part of the Adobe window, so when I move my stylus to draw, the cursor will appear on the external monitor, usually proportionate to the size of the screen...ie. It interprets the external and tablet screens as one desktop and the top left corner of my tablet screen is the top left of my external, whilst the bottom right on tablet IS the bottom right on tablet, if that makes any sense...sorry.
So I can't draw anything in photosho unless I set it back to standard desktop mode, or mirrored desktop. I've searched over the net and these forums and I can't find a fix for this. I was walking in harvey norman the other day and the Wacom Cintiq 12" was there on display, and it had the same issue with extended desktop and photoshop.
Has anyone had this issue before and/or does anyone know of a fix for it? I'll keep searching around and playing with the computer until I fix it and I'll post any solutions I find here if noone else has one.
    My system details are:
    Abobe Photoshop CS3 10.0.0
    Adobe Illustrator CS3 13.0.0
OS: Windows Vista Build 6001, Service Pack 1, 32bit
    RAM: 2GB
HD: 18.2GB free Disk Space (out of 66.3GB on the Active Partition)
Video: Intel GMA: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

I'm using an HP tx2011au tablet pc, using adobe flash cs3 and have the exact same problem. it becomes decalibrated only while the flash window is open, and only while flash has a file open, and only when using an extended desktop. even if flash is open and it has no files open it works fine.

  • Does an unmounted but still inserted SD card prevent standby mode?

This apple support document lists a number of things preventing standby mode on SSD portable macs (MBA 2010-, MBP mid 2012 & MBPr)
To enter standby, the computer must:
    - Have no SD card inserted.
Does this apply to inserted but unmounted SD cards as well?
This question arose from the Kickstarter page for The Nifty Minidrive, a microSD card adapter that fits perfectly into the SD slot on portable macs but which according to the aforementioned support document will prevent standby mode on the models that support it.
If anyone knows or is able to test this that would make 8 602 Kickstarter backers pretty grateful!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your SD-card.
I recommend that you first test your SD card in your PC using a test software like http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml or similar. I also recommend that you test your phone with another SD card to see if there's something wrong with the phone or SD card.

  • Syslogd makes high CPU Load and standby mode doesn´t work.

After updating to Leopard I see high CPU Load caused by syslogd daemon(40%-80%) and my MacBook has problems with standby mode. After stopping the white LED lights and CPU fan speeds up. Is there any chance to fix these problems?

OK.. here's where I'm at with troubleshooting this. As I said before, for ME it occurred simultaneous to a low or out of memory situation. I don't know if syslogd was using my the ram, or if the low ram was a symptom of an issue that syslogd was getting caught up in reporting... but the system log file had tens of THOUSANDS of out of memory errors listed. Almost all were from dashboard.
So... I've done the following. In dashboard I closed ALL open widgets. I disabled spaces (since in another thread someone indicated it used a lot of memory). I ran Leopard Cache Cleaner and used it to perform maintenances, run the os scripts and rebuild caches and so on. Rebooted.
Now its working fine! Since then its been over 24 hrs and I STILL have over 300megs of ram reported free on a 1 gig system. I've used everything else like normal (safari, mail, ichat, itunes, etc..). Where the problem used to happen after a couple of hours after a reboot every time, now it seems normal. No out of mem, and syslogd is running normally (apparently).
I will run a few apps that I havent run in a while and see if those create an issue. If not, later today I will enable spaces and see how that does after a few hours. Finally I'll add in the dashboard widgets one at a time to see if the issue lies there. I'll report back here if I discover anything.

  • 7.3.2.6 crashes when coming out of standby mode

Has anyone else seen this problem with iTunes 7.3.2.6?
It crashes when coming out of standby mode. There is an error report I can send to Microsoft, but since it's an Apple program, I never send it.
Using standby was OK with iTunes 7.2.

Okay. Let's try getting a fresh one through to Roy.
If the log has been "live" for a while, info about every crash of any description will have been being added to it (with my Morrowind crashing on a daily basis, i once found a DrWatson log on belladonna that was over a GB in size). So it'll be easier for him to work through a log with just one crash on it.
Will run through my standard instructions just so i don't forget anything. (Sorry, I know you're up to speed on this sort of thing, no offense meant.)
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it as an attachment to this email address: [email protected]
In the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Samsung Smart TV Remote and Standby Mode

Hi All - A few months ago I got a Samsung Smart TV that came with a pretty nice remote. It really can control almost all aspects of the FiOS service, but there are a few commands I cannot figure out how to get it to send to the FiOS STB.
First off, when I power on the TV, the STB is still in Stanby mode. It asks for me to "Press Menu to Watch ...". I cannot figure out how to get the Samsung remote to send that command or to disable standby mode on the STB. There is no menu button on this remote that's not TV-specific.
Second, I can't figure out how to bring up the full guide using the remote. By pressing the "up" direction on the four-way button, I get some smaller version of a guide, but I would prefer to see the standard full screen guide.
Finally, is there a way to get to the On Demand and DVR menus using the Samsung remote?
Anway, that's the the scoop. Most other featuers (DVR, etc) work pretty well.
The remote I'm using is a RMCTPF1AP1 and the STB is running version 1.9.7 and build 19.45. It's a QIP7232.
Thanks in advance for any guidance on getting this working.
    Dave

I'm not sure if you are turning the STB off or if the idle timer is doing it.
No reason to turn the STB off as it doesn't save any energy.
So leaving it on would alleviate one issue.

  • Mute button doesn't work to put phone in standby mode, help??

I have a blackberry curve and the mute button will not work to put my phone in standby.  It does work to mute a phone call, however.  It has done this a couple of times, where it will work for awhile, and then stop working for awhile.  I'm not sure if I have hit something to make it so I can't put it in standby mode.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Welcome to the forums
Did you press and hold the mute button? It takes a long key press to work. Also do a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://store.berryreview.com/product.asp?id=27660&n=QuickPull-Free
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.
