Stamina Mode ignores my whitelist

Hi,
I have some problems with the stamina mode. I have created a whitelist with gmail and whtasapp. After 10min or so I get no more notifications. After I turn on the display I receive all my messages?? I have set Wifi to stay connected in standby and I have tried every possible method with no success.

There a few things that you can try
1. boot on safemode and see if you experience the same problem
2. you could repair your phone with PCC

  • STAMINA MODE(here we go again) -final clear up?

So I just got the Z1
    - After googling around the net I have found several detailed explanations on how STAMINA MODE works.
However, I still think it is unclear so bear with me:
I get the part about usage statistics/usage patterns being learned and all that.
I also understand that if I whitelist an app it supposedly can get push-messages even when in STAMINA MODE and that apps like Spotify will still be able to stream audio - This last fact raises some questions however...
What I still want to know is:
    1.
does the STAMINA MODE in effect turn off the Wifi/3G on a hardware level while allowing bursts of data through at timed intervals?
    OR
does it only prevent apps that are not on the whitelist from requesting/receiving data on a software level
(while still leaving the 3G/Wifi in an up state from a hardware point of view)?
    2.
do the usage statistics/usage pattern collection over time determine at what time-interval apps that are not on the whitelist are allowed to fetch data over 3G/Wifi?
(for example, allow ALL traffic for 2 minutes every 10th minute while allowing WHITELISTED traffic through all the time).
    OR
Is whitelisted apps allowed to use data whenever they need to, while all other apps won't do anything at all while the screen is off?
If the answer to question 1 is that all data transfer is disabled on timed intervals in the hardware for all apps and letting bursts of data through every now and then
(and the interval period gets shorter/longer based on whether the usage pattern is intense or not and what apps have a priority status because present in the whitelist)
    - then adding any application that uses push (IM, Exchange)  to the whitelist doesn't make much sense to anyone who wants their mail or IM to arrive when it was actually sent. I also think that if one has an intense usage pattern the constant renegotiation the device has to do to take the connection up and down in the hardware may even prove counter-productive.
If the answer to question 1 is that all apps on the whitelist are allowed to go on about their bussiness as usual while all other apps are simply "frozen on a software level" while the screen is in an off-state then this feature is useful even when using IM/mail) and should basically be efficient almost no matter what scenario it is used in.
I really hope for a complete clarification once and for all
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Stamina works like a firewall at a software level blocking all apps that are not on the white list from communicating with the internet while display is off. It also prevents most background activities from waking up the system.
Stamina will not allow apps that are not on the white list to access internet at certain times while display is off. Only when you turn on the display or connect a charger they will be able to update. The usage statistics is used to estimate standby.

  • Stamina Mode not working in Z3

I have problems with Stamina Mode. It doesn't work for majority of the apps. Meaning, even if I don't whitelist an app in the stamina mode, their notifications shows up and they send/receive data: Pushbullet, Gmail, Twitter are only few examples.
So basically the connection is not shut down when in stamina mode.
Is this the case for any of you?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
The phone must be in standby mode for some time, around 15 minutes, before Stamina mode kicks in. Have you tried to have your phone in standby mode for at least 15 minutes and then tried if the phone can receive any data.

  • Notification LED in Stamina mode

(Re-asking the same question I've seen a few years ago for other phones without satisfactory answer; perhaps things have moved on now though)
Is there some way of getting the LED to flash to show notifications received while in stamina mode?  I've whitelisted Hangouts and and the screen lights up and the phone vibrates successfully but if I'm away then I have to turn my screen on to check because of the lack of LED.   I don't see any sensibly named apps I can whitelist to enable this.

  • Stamina mode doesn't work

When I turn on the stamina mode it's supposed to turn off the WI-FI when I lock the screen but I still recieving all the notifications, I've read that you have to wait 15 minutes for it to turn off the WI-FI but I've tried and it didn't work, I keep recieving all the notifications and the LED brights too. I don't know what to do, could somebody help me?

hi there, i think i have the same problem, when stamina mode is on, it supposed to turn off the wi-fi or it should only connect to known wifi address, but it automaticly turn on the wifi even if there is no known wifi around, but it is another unknown wifi address. i think it's a bug.
and i think the stamina mode is not really usefull even if i turn it on or not, i use my z1 frequently, from morning 100%, and can only last for 12 - 15 max, with only messaging ( BBM, facebook, instagram), a bit of browsing, and game ( clash of clan).
i already turn off the auto-sync, and only put BBM, and whatsapp on the white list on stamina mode.

  • Ultra Stamina Mode problem

Yesterday I've updated my phone to 4.4.4, and today I've activated the Ultra Stamina Mode option, and when it was done loading, everything was working fine.. I've disabled Ultra Stamina Mode, the phone rebooted, everything was working fine until I've enabled the Ultra Stamina Mode again, and after it was done loading, then I had to go.. I've listened to music on my MDR-ZX610AP(which btw, the button is now finally working), and after 30 minutes, when I came back home, I wanted to disable Ultra Stamina Mode, but it didn't work(I've tapped on the notification and pressed Okay as usually, but the phone was simply not responding to that command, I mean it was not preparing for reboot), so I've rebooted the phone by holding power and selecting restart, and after the restart, I got stuck somewhere between Ultra Stamina Mode and the normal mode.. My screen is gray, I only have some apps.. And I've tried to reenter the Ultra Stamina Mode and get back to normal, nothing.. Tried to reboot in normal mode, nothing.. What can I do, beside repairing using pc companion or factory reset? I don't really want to lose my data..

    Hi,
That sounds strange. I suggest that you boot your phone into safe mode to see if you experience the same behaviour:
    http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008
Otherwise, it sounds like you need to perform a software repair or a factory reset.

  • STAMINA MODE problem in xperia sp

After some time(15 days of purchase)stamina mode does not working on xperia sp

What do you mean Stamina Mode doesn't work? It doesn't allow you to turn it on or off? The estimated time doesn't change? If so, then you probably have excluded apps that will be constantly syncing and/or using your data or wifi connection, thus, defeating the purpose of Stamina Mode

  • Ultra stamina mode resetting notification preferences

    Hi,
Loving my new Z3 compact but noticed a potential bug...Has anyone else used the ultra stamina mode and noticed the notification preferences reset once turning off ultra stamina?
I have tested the ultra stamina mode now several times and its very impressive - I got over a day with just 6% battery. However, when i turn the phone back to normal mode afterwards I find all the notifications I have turned off (facebook, instagram, etc) are back on popping up on the dropdown bar.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks

  • Ultra Stamina Mode Major Bug.

I have a Xperia Z1, updated to the latest Android lollipop version. I enabled Ultra Stamina Mode today while I was out and once I got home I tried to deactivate it.  But it would not deactivate.  Therefore I just restarted the phone.  Once restarted I find that I'm still in some sort of ultra stamina mode hybrid. Most of my apps are hidden in the default Xperia Home launcher even though I can still see they're on my phone in Settings->Apps.  I can't open any of the few apps that are available as they crash.  I got frequent Google Play Services has crashed notifications. I restarted several times, activated and deactivated ultra stamina mode numerous times and still no luck.  I searched this issue through Google and found that many people have also encountered this problem and that the only solution was to do a factory reset. So there you go, I had to do a factory reset, lost all my apps and data which weren't backed up all because Sony can't do quality control when updating their phones. If you're going to add a feature Sony make sure you test the **bleep** thing on your phones!

  • Data connection keeps disappearing in Stamina mode

I'm in the UK on the Three network. I am using Stamina mode with Extended usage enabled to save power, but am seeing a consistent issue where, after an hour or two, the phone completely loses it's mobile data connection and will not reconnect without rebooting. This makes Stamina mode totally useless as it is not reconnecting when the screen is turned on.
The signal indicator on the phone shows no "H" symbol when this happens, yet About -> Status indicates HSPA is present but mobile data is disconnected.
I have the latest firmware installed.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

  • Stamina Mode doesn't immediately take effect when screen is off.

This is what I observed after playing around with Stamina mode on the Z3C. My build version is: 23.0.1.A.5.79 and running Android Version 4.4.4.
When you manually lock the screen it doesn't immediately go into stamina mode, and I can still receive data from all apps and get all notifications. After about 5 mins of staying locked with no interruption from data received and notifications, Stamina mode will start working and only allow the allowed list of apps to receive data and display notifications. Another observation is that once Stamina mode is working as it should and one of the allowed apps wakes up the screen, Stamina mode will continue block any apps not listed as allowed to receive data and continue to work, which is PERFECT.
However, if any data is received between the time you lock the screen and the 5 min mark, notifications can keep coming from any app until the full 5 mins has gone through with no interruption from any apps data or notifications.
My question is why doesn't Stamina mode take effect immediately after you lock your phone and the screen is off? If it waits for 5 mins and data keeps coming every 1-4 mins, then Stamina mode will never be activated and the battery will drain as normal.

  • Can't open a message in Ultra Stamina Mode

For both suggestions, I need to try on Ultra Stamina Mode or usual mode?

    Please be informed that :
There's no messaging app which locates under Settings (either Ultra Stamina Mode or usual Mode) so I can't follow your 2 solutions.
    ==========================================
I followed your link above, as result is
-I ensured the lock screen / notification bar doesn’t indicate “no service” when the device has coverage.
-I cannot "close-all-button" in the activity menu because lollipop 5.0.2 update doesn’t provide the button for my Xperia Z1.
-I did as this advice "Unblocked devices with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to enable the new Lollipop lock-screen notifications"
-I ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes - and no longer offset by “silent”
-My internal memory is 5 gb so no need to move a content to SD card.
However, as Sony and Android said "
Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode – some conversations could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode" then I think your team no need to tell a user that Messaging app is available for Ultra Stamina Mode before I activate the mode (it makes me confused). Some conversations or other should not have affecting to Ultra Stamina Mode. In the future, if some of an app doesn't work peffectly or your team does not on any app, could you please kindly don't push it and tell a user that it is available in the Ultra Stamina Mode?. Thanks

  • Xperia Z2: Stamina mode doesn't work aparently

    Hi,
Stamina mode doesn't work aparently on my phone. I try all the configurations but the sotware doesn't turn off the wifi and neither the mobile data coming from the operator when i block and turn off the screen of the device. I continue receiving information from all the apps and i haven't done any exception on the stamina configuration. Any idea to solve this?
    Solved!

Looks like you are talking about Low-Battery mode...
First make sure that you have turned it ON. After that just see "Activation" section under Low Battery mode to find at what level it has been set to activate.. By default, Low battery mode gets activated at 20% battery level.

  • Stamina mode bug

In my device the stamina mode stopped working some how when i was watching youtube videos. i got a message saying that your device is using too much of battery, charge your device now (something like that). then i took this scrren shot. my device has the latest updates. This happened only twice, and i had to restart my device each time.

I'm not sure what you mean, could you clarify what the problem is? And the message that you received, is it not the message for low battery and that you should connect it to a charger?
