Standalone report server suggested settings

Hi,
How should I configure the Oracle Reports Server 10.1.2.3 so that performance will become better? How would you suggest to configure parameters such as engines, timeout, etc.? Reports will be called purely by using the standalone report server.
Thanks.
Andy

I would have to point you to the documentation, chapter/section 20.2 Tuning Reports Server Configuration ...
Oracle® Application Server Reports Services
Publishing Reports to the Web
10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048.pdf
As a general rule, I would increase cache size and set the number engines based on the number of CPU available for the report server ... go over chapter/section 20.2 - this is what you can do in your reports server configuration, there are more things to take into consideration, like PL/SQL, SQL, for that review the rest of chapter 20...

  • Report 11gR1: multiple standalone Reports Server for one domain

    Hi all,
In Oracle Froms, Report (11.1.1.6.0) environment is necessary to create more than one standalon Reports Server (iAS instances).
1- How can we create multiple Reports Server (insatances) in same domain?
2- How can use pro Reportsserver multiple engines (e.g. more than 3 engines)?
    Regards,
    Moh

    Hi Moh,
Out of the box in 11g you get 1 standalone reports server (you can see this one via opmnctl status) and 1 in-process reports server than runs inside WLS_REPORTS managed server.
You can create more standalone reports servers for your instance. Please follow the following support note
    Reference
How Do You Create And Start Up A Standalone Reports Server In 11g R1 & R2? (Doc ID 961174.1)
Regarding how to increase reports engines for each of your reports server you need to go to the Enterprise Manager console and select each of the reports servers you have and go to Reports --> Administration --> Basic menu and
change " Maximum Engines" property for the value you need. You will need to re-start your Reports server after this.
    Hope this helps, Roberto

  • A standalone Report Server

    Hi to everyone.
I'd like to know if I can use a standalone Oracle Report Server 9i on a Weblogic Server 6.1 Platform.
I must use a standalone Oracle Report Server 9i because my boss wants to use Weblogic and I can't do anything about that.
I know the Report Server 9i is bundled with the OAS 9i on the Oracle web site, but I need a standalone version working on Weblogic.
So can I buy a Oracle report server like that?
If no....Is Oracle Report server 6i/6.0 a standalone version?
    Thanks in advance

This topic is already present in the following thread:
    Oracle Reports in WebLogic
    Let's continue it here.
It is clear that many customers like to run Reports (and maybe also Forms) in another application server as 9iAS.
I think there is no discussion whether they should do this or not. A company using Weblogic or Websphere does not want to use 9iAS as well, that's far too complex from the viewpoint of management, and far too expensive.
Reports and Forms can technically run on any webserver, so the only problem is the licensing policy of Oracle.
It is clear that many customers need a Reports Server and/or Forms server license without the complete iAS license. Maybe a thin installation type for Forms/Reports in iAS (see thread in Forms discussion forum) would solve this, if a matching 'thin' license comes with it.
I think this is an opportunity for Oracle to promote Reports: Why not earn from people who just want to use this tool, and not the complete 9iAS suite?

  • Problem installing standalone report server

I installed a report server using rwserver -install repsrv1 after which it directed me to windows services to start the service. When I try to start the service it gives error: The OracleOH_MidTr904Reports [repsrv1] service terminated with service-specific error 50125. How do I fix this error? Thanks.

    1) Run server as standalone as workaround and if it works make server opmn manageable.
    rwserver server=name
    2) Running as service is kind of old.
Make the reports server opmn manageable. OPMN will restart server if it shuts down for some reason thus ensuring it remains always up.
    in bin dir give
    addNewServerTarget servername
    and restart opmn

  • Standalone report server not found on the network between logical partitions on AIX

    Hello,
    Here s our architecture:
    forms/reports11gr2(patchset 1)
    weblogic 10.3.6
    on IBM AIX 7.1
    Server JRE
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pap6460sr13ifix-20130303_02(SR13+IV37419)                                                                             )
    IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 AIX ppc64-64 jvmap6460sr13-20130114_1
    JRE -client - 1.6.0_27
We have 2 logical partitions separated in 2 different physical m/c where cluster of forms /reports is installed.
if i have a report service repsrv11g on one logical partition say, box 100 on Physical box 6000, the other logical partition box101's forms server on physical box 7000 is not able to look up the report service when calling from Forms using the Run_report_object.
    Gives, FRM -41213 error.
If i just run the URL(use 2nd box) with http://101:8888/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=repsrv11g, it gives REP-51002: Bind to Reports Server repsrv11g failed
We thought/read that as long as they re on the same network / domain, report service is available.
Also did rwdiag.sh on one partition, its not able to find the other one.
Ran the test form which Oracle provides and it s also not able to find the report server on the network when run on the other lpar.
Temporarily, we created another report service on the other lpar but still using loadbalancing dns while doing web.show_document, so, it could potentially fail to bring up a report if load balancer redirects from one form's server to report server on the other partition.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Any inputs on this pls?

  • Standalone Report Service in 10gAS

I have just installed 10gAS R2 (10.1.2.0.2) on Red Hat EL4. I installed the infrastructure and middle-tier on the same box and everything went fine. I have a report server (rep_server1) that is running. I would like to create two other report servers (development and test) that run on the same server. I was told (from a colleague) that using "rwserver -install server=development" is no longer supported in 10.1.2.0.2. I was also told to use OPMN to create the services, so it would be "registered" with OPMN. I have read through the Report Services documentation but was unable to locate any instruction on how to do this. Am I missing something here, or was I mis-informed, or am I just blind?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Ok, this is what you want to do.
    Set your display
setenv DISPLAY 192.45.197.48:0.0Create the standalone reports server
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwserver.sh server=testA dialog box will start, and it says starting reports server
WAIT until is says ready, then click the shutdown button
    Then
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh test
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopall
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl statusYou should now see your report server listed and it should be alive. Now the server is registered with OPMN and it should be good to go. Deleting the reports server is another story. I'm still trying to figure out how to do that.
    Good Luck

  • Starting the reports server as a servlet

Dear friends, I'm trying to run a JSP Report which was built with JDev and Report Builder, but when I compiled the JSP Report on JDev, the Internet Browser has started with the LOADING... page and nothing happened.
I have Report Services and HTTP Server started, but I can't verify if the Reports Servlet is running.
I've been reading the "Publishing Reports to the Web with Oracle9iAS Reports Services" document at "http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/htdocs/doc_library/getstart/docs/a92102_01.pdf" and it's written that we can start the reports server as a servlet typing :
    http://< your_machine_name>:<your_port_num>/reports/rwservlet
    In my case :
    <your_machine_name> = bicas
<your_port_num> = Is it a HTTP port number? If it is. = 80
    Then :
    http://bicas:80/reports/rwservlet
But this return a HTTP 404 error, page not found.
I have Oracle9iDS and Oracle9iAS installed on the same machine.
What do I need to do to start the reports server as a servlet?
Do I need to do this to run a JSP Report from the Web?

    Try the following:
    1) Create a new project in JDev
    2) Add a new Reports JSP object into the project from 'File -> new' (this'll setup the project form JSP report execution)
    3) Edit the JSP report, or add your own jsp report to the project
    4) run the JSP report
To use Reports servlet's in-process server, remove 'server=...' from JSP tag rw:report's 'parameters' attribute, and make sure JVM is set to 'hotspot' in 'Project Setting -> Runner'.
To use standalone Reports server, start the server, and specified the server in rw:report's 'parameters' attribute.
    Hope this helps.

    Charlie Sheng
