Standard font displaying weird...help!

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with how Arial Black (a web-safe font) is displaying after I publish it. Looks fine in iWeb, but then looks REALLY bold and blown-out after I publish it.
Here's the weird part...I've been using the same font...and text box...on another iWeb-created site for a long time, and it displays fine. I literally copied the old text box onto my new site, but it won't display correctly. I've even rebuilt it by creating a new text box and starting over...still the same problem. I've checked all my text settings, and they are the same across the two sites.
help!
Here's the ORIGINAL page where it is displaying properly:
http://www.ryanhartt.com/Shows.html
Here's the NEW page where it is displaying wrong: You'll actually see that the DATES are displayed wrong...but the box to the right is displayed fine...both use Arial Black.
http://www.ericducoff.com/Shows.html
Thanks!

The dates on the Original page is an image, while on the New page it is text.
I made an image of the text and placed the real image on top of it. The lineheight on the black page is slightly larger.
Only when you compare the 2 pages you'll notice.
Thanks for the reply...
But I didn't create the "dates text" on the original page as an image...it was typed in just like the new page. iWeb obviously decided to make it an image. How do I work around that?
And why is the text box to the right of the "dates" displaying correctly using the same font?

  • Fonts Display Weird Sometimes

I'm almost positive it's because of a font I installed but I installed over 1000 so I can't really pinpoint the problem. Anyways, sometimes when I open a document, the font won't be displayed correctly. It will always be displayed in the same weird font too - something that looks like Dark Crystal. It's also not all documents; only select documents show up differently and they consistently do so. I thought the problem was Preview so I downloaded Adobe but the problem persists. Just now, a document opened in Word and the font was weird. According to Word, the font is Times New Roman but it's not.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can have a look at Metalink Note:1016006.4 :- JAVA FONT MAPPING FROM WINDOWS, MOTIF AND MACINTOSH FONTS. You can try modifying the defaultSize Parameter & see if it helps.

  • Fonts display weird

iTunes displays in a crazy dingbat font -- lots of arrows and such. Tried installing the latest upgrade version, deleted old iTunes, reinstalled upgrade again with no luck. Using OSX 10.4.10

I actually found this problem cropping up randomly in other options so did a google search on the new problem -- turns out it was a cached font issue as the result of an Adobe app crashing (Photoshop). This site has good instructions that worked for me. Scroll down to the word "garbled" for the font issue.

  • Fonts and graphics are slightly "fuzzy". Colors are not correctly displaying. Help?

After Mavericks installation on my Macbook Pro mid-2012 (non-retina), the fonts appear slightly fuzzy, the graphics seems less crisp and the colors are just "off". This issue seems to be system wide but is much worse whilst using Safari for some reason. (Safari 7.0)
Please advise and thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions!
**P.S. I accidentally posted this same question earlier in the wrong forum/discussion but I cannot figure out how to delete/edit it, so I apologize if you see this posted twice.

After updating to 10.6.3, I installed the 10.6.8 update just to start experiencing these font issues. HELP! How do I get the fonts to display correctly in my browsers especially (Chrome & Safari)

What I ended up having to do was open up the Font book & remove duplicates. I knew it was Arial that was causing the problem, so I deleted the duplicate of that font. Inadvertantly I deleted all the Arial regular font, so I had to reinstall one copy. That was the solution. Thanks!

  • Standard fonts not displaying

    Hi,
I have a small java program that creates a GIF-file from a BufferedImage.
I can draw shapes and print text in this image but the strange thing is that the fonts "guaranteed to work", like Serif, SansSerif and Monospaced DON'T work.
When I try getAvailableFontFamilyNames I am told that these fonts are available:
Bitstream Charter, Courier, Courier 10 Pitch, Cursor, Default, Dialog, DialogInput, Luxi Mono, Luxi Sans, Luxi Serif, Monospaced, SansSerif, Serif, Utopia.
The ones I get working are Bitstream Charter, Courier, Courier 10 Pitch, Luxi Mono, Luxi Sans, Luxi Serif and Utopia.
I have a loop over all avaliable fonts and prints some text in each. I get no exception but the final gif is just blank where the standard fonts would have been, like SansSerif. The more odd ones work fine.
    Any ideas?
    Kind regards
    Tomas Albinsson

    Avi,
I'm sure there is and I'm not even thinking about opening a window or creating a button :)
And if it didn't work at all I'd (try to) look up the restrictions.
But 7 out of 14 fonts work, and the non-working are just silently not producing anything.
I just hoped someone had been trying this or even could explain the behaviour.
    Kind regards
    Tomas

  • Font displaying wierdly!

Changing to leopard, all my settings and preferences were imported.
In nearly ALL of my programs, I set Verdana as the standard font for display. In a number,I am having a strange 'comic' style font display, most noticeably in browsers and google in particular.
For example, the links on google search works fine displaying as I want, but the text beneath the link display in this odd font. it's barely legible. If I could attached an image I know it would help, but not sure I can on this forum. I tried to copy and paste without success.
Any know what this is or experience it?

Font substitution like this from junk free fonts downloaded from the internet is very common. Find the font and remove it from your system.

  • Asian fonts display in font book but show as Western fonts in apps!

Adobe apps still display Asian fonts as Western characters, even though I've changed language settings via the "international" control panel of System Preferences. Perhaps I have not done this correctly? I've restarted the machine after changes to Systems language prefs. Asian and other calligraphic fonts are all installed and display fine in Font Book. Is there a fix?

As my aim is to access character sets without the
need to change the language settings on my machine
That's exactly what Character Palette does.
think the ideal solution is to get a copy of
Fontographer and copy all the decorative fonts and
    save them as standard fonts.
A total waste of time in my view.
    True Futhark has several
characters that stand for phonetics not compatible
with plain roman alpha/qwerty keyboard use. I
understand the same is true of other fonts-there are
    bound to be discrepancies.
Most of the characters in the world are not compatible with qwerty keyboard use. That's why in general people don't use that method to produce them, or try to jigger fonts so they might be able to.
    Perhaps this is why so
many characters come up as "?" even when inserted
    via the Finder's character palette?
This may be because your app is set to Latin-1 or some other limited encoding. It should be set to UTF-8. Try Character Palette with TextEdit and you will not get any ?'s.
Control+T does nothing in Adobe apps, as far as I can
see. Apple+T brings up the Type palette but there is
no "insert special character" option there.
I got that wrong. The combo for Apple apps is Option + Apple + T. I don't know if that works in Adobe (don't use them myself).
    I did notice a wonderful
Tibetan font that must be on my machine somewhere,
though it does not show up in Font Book under "All
    Fonts"!
These are part of the ST series of Chinese fonts. If you go to the Tibetan range in Character Palette you can see this and you can also input them in TextEdit or a UTF-8 doc. Or you can examine the contents of an ST font by putting Character Palette in glyph mode.
I guess ideally, for graphics use, one should get the
characters into a standard font file, as I suggest
above, and then type away merrily qwerty-style.
Some Asian scripts have thousands of characters. Using a qwerty keyboard to try to access a few of them from a recoded font is not something that anyone does as far as I know. They use a specialized Input Method or the Character Palette or a similar utility. Also unless you are truly transforming your output into graphics/photos, your input would be seen as qwerty on other machines.
suppose these decorative fonts are available on the
web somewhere, where those who sell them have gone to
the trouble of transcribing the characters in to an
    'ordinary' font for you?
    Never seen such things myself.
It seems a shame that Macs OSX can't grant you access
to all these decorative fonts (indeed, to all
installed fonts) in a more straight forward manner.
The Character Palette is the most straightforward manner possible for accessing such scripts, if you do not want to switch keyboard layouts. All computer system use a similar mechanism. It even has a Favorites section where you can store characters you want to use frequently so you can avoiding looking them up each time. If you have some specific problems using it, I'd be glad to help, here or by email (click on my name for the address).
Am I correct in these assumptions?
No, I think all of them are wrong myself.

  • WebHelp Font Displays Incorrectly in Browser

    Using version X5.0.2
Generated WebHelp and uploaded files from SSL! folder to
client's FTP site. When they upload files (all files from the SSL!
folder), the Help text font displays as Times New Roman. However,
the style sheet I used to create the Help set font type at Tahoma.
Also, I'm not sure why, but when I generate the WebHelp, two style
sheet files appear, one named MS_Help.css and the other named
    MS_Help_ns.css.

    Hello MaLoCo123 -
Re: two style sheets - correct and normal (one for IE and one
    for Netscape).
As to the displayed font, not your fault UNLESS you didn't
follow your agreed upon project standards. This is user (client)
    setting dependant.
If I opened your Webhelp from my home I would not get what
you want because I don't do Windows and I don't have Tahoma on one
of my Linux boxes (the one I would use to view your project).
I would see what I specify in my browser preferences
regardless of what you wanted, even on a Windows box.

  • Problem with the way fonts display in Internet Explorer

Howdy. I built a site about a week ago (first crack at this). It has quite a bit of content but seemed to be fine on Safari, Netscape and Firefox. I checked it out at work on a PC with Internet Explorer 6 and there were typography problems. I intentionally used simple web fonts (all Arial) to hopefully minimize this sort of thing. I used a 70% tint of Black for the font color on all the fonts. On Explorer the fonts display fine on pages 1, 2, 3, and 4. On page 5 the type appears blurry, really greyed and spread. I can't figure out why (same fonts and styles).
As an experiment I tried posting just a couple of pages with the type at 100% black. The really bad pages weren't so bad (but not nearly as good as on the other browsers.) The site is rballister.com. If you click on any of the links (picture boxes) on the "print & mail index" pages you will see the problem with the type. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Because I thought it would be a nice effect, I decided to use the slider in the color pallette and change to color of the type from 100% black to 70% black (which is to to say a shade of gray). I'm referring to text that I keyboarded into iWeb. As previously mentioned, the gray type worked just fine on most browsers but caused problems in Internet Explorer (in a seemingly random way. Still can't figure out the reason). When I changed the type to black on a white background (black and white), the problem wasn't as bad as it was in Explorer, but still not nearly as good as in the other browsers.

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard font Package

    All
Any body can help me to get Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard Font Package?

Which is the latest version of Acrobat that you have purchased?
If version 6 then 6.06 is the latest free update that you can download.
    Versions 7, 8, 9, X were all paid-for upgrades.
The current version is XI but only versions 8, 9 and X are eligible to upgrade to XI.

  • Can't Change Standard Font Size in Preferences

I just got a new 24-inch iMac, which is great, but the screen is so big that web pages at the standard size are impossible to read at a comfortable distance. I went into Preferences and clicked on the "Appearance" tab, and set the standard and fixed-width font sizes to what I wanted--and nothing changed. I quit and restarted Safari, quit and restarted the iMac--no change (even though the sizes in the Preferences remained as I had set them). What the... ?
I am using the latest Safari (2.0.4) and OS version (10.4.7). I am running Pith Helmet, but things did not change when I disabled it.
I tried setting the "Never use font sizes smaller than..." to the size I wanted, but there are two problems with that: (1) the font size changes but the line spacing does not, making text seemed crammed together; and (2) it prevents me from sizing down the text if it appears too big on some pages. So that's not an acceptable solution, neither is Command-+'ing every single web page I come to.
I searched the forums for the past year, and found no answers to this. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!
    24-inch iMac, 15 PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Okay, strange thing here... it seems that Firefox and Mozilla are acting the exact same way, and the universal effect is taking on a strange form.
I made a blog post recently where I had photos, and under each photo I set a caption, which is sized with the HTML command "font size=-1". THOSE lines respond to the font resizing, but the rest of the text does NOT; this has the strange effect of making the main page text small, and the photo captions large--instead of being smaller as intended. I checked a variety of pages and found the same thing: on some pages, all the text followed the new standard font size; on some pages, none of the text changed size; and on many pages, there was a mix of affected and unaffected text.
I am guessing that all of these browsers only change the font size of non-CSS-formatted text or something like that. If so, it seems a bizarre thing to do. Or perhaps there is some setting on my Mac which controls this?
    Help!

  • Font display problem in Safari....

Hi-I am sure that this has been discussed here....... Anyway, on some pages in Safari the fonts are weird-there are large spaces between the letters and lots of S's and random capitalizations. None of the letters form a word. Is there a fix for this? I sent a bug report to Apple. Thanks for any help! Judy

I decided to go through Font Book and I disabled lots of fonts but not any system fonts. I have come across a couple though that I don't know how to fix them. One is Courier-there is a yellow triangle next to it and it says that there are multiple copies installed-it instructs me to us the Resolve Duplicates command to automatically deactivate the copies not in use. I tried that but nothing is resolved-they are still marked with the yellow triangle (there are 2 Regulars and 2 Bolds, one Oblique and one Bold Oblique-only of the Regular and Bold are marked with a yellow triangle). So it's Courier, Apple Symbols that are like this. Since Resolve Duplicates didn't resolve anything I tried Validate Font-that worked until I shut down the Font Book and then they were back with the yellow triangles. Also in the window for Validate Font there are many 'things' listed under Apple Symbols.ttf: 'cmap' table usablilty, 'hmtx' table usability, etc. all the way down to Duplicate Fonts which has a yellow circle with an exclamation point next to it-says minor problem, proceed with caution. Courier has 'things' listed too under Validate Font-Duplicate Fonts under Courier and under Courier Bold both. Not sure what all that means and I don't know how to fix those things-there is no check box next to them. Any ideas? I probably have succeeded in confusing you! Judy

  • Appleworks 6/Font display problem in 10.6

Has anyone else struggled with the Menu WYSIWYG Font display scrolling so painfully slowly since loading 10.6.2 ?
It races as normal in 'names', but I need WYSIWYG when selecting .... now I may never see Zingbats again.
    Any suggestions ?
(I'm also placing this in the Appleworks Forum)

When AppleWorks behave slow or incorrectly there are some maintenance task to perform which usually does help.
Delete Recent items which you find in yourname > Documents > AppleWorks User Data > Starting Points > Recent Items
Delete com.apple.appleworks.plist found in yourname >Library>Preferences
While in Preferences Find the folder AppleWorks and delete the Appleworks preferences
Empty the trash and restart AW
