Standard MSS Role

Hi Gurus,
The standard MSS role does not have the "Home" workset and service map iview. I have 2 "Linked Object not available" instead of these.
We tried undeploying and redeploying the BP, ESS role is fine and working, but MSS role is still corrupt.
Any ideas on why this is happening
Portal 7.0 Sp15
ESS/MSS 600 SP 13
ECC 6.0 stack 13

Hi
Please try deploying the Common parts BP. It will resolve the missing links issue.

  • Assessment - Planning Page will not show in Custom MSS Role

I have gone through the Notes/Docs for setting up OBN for Performance Management and have implemented the same.
Now if I go to the Standard MSS role and try to open up Assessment > Click on 'Create' for Succession Planning, it works fine by showing up the Talent Assessment window where it can be completed.
Now, we have a custom MSS role copied from the standard one and I have included the same Talent Management workset (with the page, folder inside - just like the standard role).
But when I try the same scenario as above (Z_Manager_role > Talent Management > Assessment (from Service Map) > Click on Create under Succession Planning), I get the following error.
There is no iView available for system "SAP_ERP_HumanResources": object "employee". For more information, contact your administrator.
Why would it work on the standard role and not the copy? Any directions highly appreciated.
    FYI. We are on 7.01 SP8, SAP_MSS  600 SP18
    Thanks,

    Thanks Sidharth.
Sorry for not getting back earlier. I had opened a message with SAP. It looks like the problem has to do with Navigation Targets in my custom MSS role - so that is narrowed down now.
The following prerequisite applies: You must include the navigation targets (for the portal pages mentioned below) in your role.
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/line_manager/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.pages/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.hcm/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.appraisal_document_wd_ui
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/line_manager/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.pages/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.hcm/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.appraisal_document_pmp
How do I include these navigation targets in my custom MSS role? I mean these pages are not part of the role.
    Thanks,
    BR

  • MSS Role

    Hi,
I wanted to the hide some of MSS features in Portal. So, I copy standard MSS Role from Content Provided by SAP to Content Provided by Other Vendors because I do not want to touch standard MSS Role.
I made cople of changes so that user can only see Report tab under MSS tab. However, if the user wanted to see one of reports, say Birthday, from LaunchPad for Report, by clicking Report Result, , he gets "Page not found or not available".
From default trace, I see below:
    Error looking up url: portal_content/com.sap.pct/line_manager/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.mss.manager_self_service/com.sap.pct.mss.hcm.rpt.iac
    [EXCEPTION]
    com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.PermissionControlException: Access denied (Object(s): portal_content... [see details]
If ESS, we can change the PCD path from SPRO. But for MSS, I'm not sure. Any idea?
BTW, I have no problem if I use standard MSS Role. The problem only arises if I assign customized MSS role to users.
    Rgds,
    Hapizorr

    Hi,
If you do that user may get 2 mss roles also.
mss page path also lies in SPRO same resources and services like ESS.
check the resources you will see MSS also in home page area frame work.
One more thing transport the original MSS ROLE to epa and save the package with you and modify the original MSS ROLE.
If you want to do changes only in custom one then copy MSS ROLE in the SAME folder i.e line manager....where the original mss role exists.
and change original MSS ROLE id to custom ROLE and vice versa.
Then you will not get this problem.
    Thanks,

inbox you meant UWL ie universal worklist
first note that SAP provides standard roles and you can copy it to z role and modify it accordingly and remove the roles
    as per required/
For ESS, the standard composite role is SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP. You can make a Z copy of this role and customize it per your needs.

There is no standard role provided for MSS applications. You will need to build one as per your needs.

  • Newly Added Iview now showing in MSS role

    Hi Experts,
I have a strange issue which is bugging me since yesterday.
I have a customized MSS role in my portal where i have added one WebDynpro Java Iview to this role. I can see the iview in the MSS role when open the role as object. But ! when i see the same role by assigning to me, i couldn't see the newly added iview in the same role.
I have added the same iview in several places (worksets) but still couldn't see that iview in the role. I don't understand why it behaves all of the sudden.
Is it cache problem? if so, i have waited 10 hours and couldn't see the iview still. Should i do something else to show that newly added iview ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hi JYOTHI,
As it is custom role , check with your Hr Team for dependency of portal display on backend .
Gneerally for standard business packages, home page framewokr configuration in backend provides navigation in portal. For your custom role , there might be siimilar configuration whcih hr consultants in your organization knows.

  • Bypass P_orgin auth check for standard MSS reporting

    Hi SAPers,
on my HR system, I have 2 types of users : ESS/MSS users (via portal) and backend users (via sapgui).
ESS/MSS role does not contain any P_ORGIN authorization because it should be added to their authorizations if they are also backend users.
The problem is coming from standard MSS reports : the "time statement overview" among other report needs P_ORGIN (IT 0, 1, 2, 7, 8, ...) !
Is there a way to bypass the standard authorization check for MSS reports ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Olivier.

    I see two issues here:
    1. ESS is NOT setup correctly.
    - You don't need P_ORGIN for ESS.  You only need P_PERNR.  The trace might even show an error looking for P_ORGIN but you do not need it.  This is an example of a role I have using ESS services for addresses.  I don't have P_ORGIN, P_ORGINCON or P_ORIGXXCON.  Do NOT use PA30, for ESS, that is very dangerous.  The ESS services can be added to a role and should be use for ESS.
Here is an example of what I have:
Manually   HR: Master Data - Personnel Number Check                     P_PERNR
Manually   Address Change - Permanent and Emergency
         Authorization level            D, E, M, S, W                                                               AUTHC
         Infotype                       0006                                                                        INFTY
Interpretation of assigned per I                                                                           PSIGN
         Subtype                        *                                                                           SUBTY
    2. MSS - I can't find the service for the report you are looking for.  If you provide the MSS service I can run some traces and probably help you isolate your problem.  Example of an MSS service (sap.com/mss~pla/PlanningPrimaryCosts).
I hope I didn't sound too harsh; I am just trying to help.

  • Standard MSS Reporting scenario Country dependent

    Hi everybody,
We are setting the standard MSS scenario for reporting in SAP Portal but we are facing a question:
    - We have a common list of reports in R3 for all the countries.
    - We have some specific reports in R3 for each country.
How could we display in the standard Reporting iView the different list of reports dependind of the country?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Best practice for standard security role

Hi, I'd like to know which is the best practice for standard role use, some people tell me that a standard role should never be used, that a copy must be made and assign the users to the copy, but then, why should SAP bother creating the standard role?

They are provided as a template for you, and you can copy them into a different namespace and make changes there before generating the profiles and authorizations.
Why you should use a copy of them is because SAP will also update them sometimes. If transactions change in the standard menues with SP's and upgrades, then you will find them in transaction SU25.
If you do a search on "standard AND roles" in the SDN then you will also find more detailed infos and opinions on the use of them.
    Cheers,

  • ESS & MSS Role

    Hi Experts
How to map ESS & MSS roles to ECC 6.0 Roles in EP.
Say for example in ECC 6.0 we have a user A and User B.
User A have some addtional attributes and User B does not have it
How to map this two users in EP.
    Thanks
    Daya.
Edited by: daya damu on May 27, 2008 8:27 PM

    Hi Daya,
You will have to do the user mapping,
It can be done in two ways,
    1. Go to user administration and once you enter user A, you will have an option of "User mapping".
    2. When you are logged onto the portal, click, personalize option and choose "User Mapping".
User mapping is basically done when the portal users and ECC users are different.
Let me know if you need any further clarification on the same.

  • Best practices / preferred usage of SAP standard (delivered) roles

    Dear Experts,
When going about designing roles for a new system, what is the preferred usage on SAP standard/delivered roles?  I was thinking of using them as a "base", then tweaking auth objects here and there to make the roles work but the more I work with them, I find it may be better to create roles entirely from scratch.  A lot of the time, I find a lot of inactivated auth objects or objects that seem to not really be needed when looking at the t-codes offered in the menu (S_TCODE).
In that case, I figured it might be cleaner if I started creating roles and adding t-codes via the Menu and maintaining only the auth objects that are proposed in PFCG (and adding a few if necessary).
Do people typically build their roles around these the standard SAP role set or is it preferred to create your own and only use the SAP standard roles as reference (i.e. the t-codes offered in the menu, etc.)?
    Thanks for any insights!

    > When going about designing roles for a new system, what is the preferred usage on SAP standard/delivered roles?
Those are provided by SAP as a reference so that you can consult with the Authorization Structure of a Standard Position / Task for which you are going to create your own role. For e.g. what are the TCodes, values of Objects should be given to users for their tasks.
I was thinking of using them as a "base", then tweaking auth objects here and there to make the roles work but the more I work with them, I find it may be better to create roles entirely from scratch.
Absolutely! Please do not use SAP delivered roles for you use and also don't try to alter any values.
A lot of the time, I find a lot of inactivated auth objects or objects that seem to not really be needed when looking at the t-codes offered in the menu (S_TCODE).

  • Standard AC Roles in SAP GRC AC 5.3

    Hello,
Can anyone list the STANDARD AC ROLES in SAP GRC AC 5.3 Suite for
    1- RAR,
    2- SPM,
    3- CUP,
    4- RT,
    5- ERM,
    6- GRC PC 2.5
    7- GTS,
    8- GRC Repository.
I know that the Standard AC Roles that are delivered for CUP are
    1- AEADMIN,
    2- AESecurity &
    3-AEApprover.
Each role comes with different actions in them.
I need similar type of standard AC roles for the above listed modules.
    Thanks!!!

    Hello Varun,
Below are answers to your statements.
1- There are no portal roles for AC5.3 as such. There is portal role for RM which you have already found.
**ANSWER 1: *There are portal roles for AC 5.3. Kindly see the link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_grcpc30/helpdata/en/27/c67fe32e684e4c85125645dc5918ee/frameset.htm.***
*The role I found in from the above link.*
2- To access AC5.3 applications from portal you would have to create IViews etc.
ANSWER 2 Since SAP provides the predelivered roles, as seen in HELP.SAP.COM in above link, we need not create iViews. The custom IViews are required for custom roles, not the standard roles**
    Thanks!!!

  • Mass Generation of standard SAP roles

IS there a way to generate & Activate SAP standard roles in mass.  We want to generate and activate following standard SAP roles so that we do not have to go through them manually for authorization changes.

    SAP_PP_PI_BATCH_RECORD_SUPER
    SAP_PP_PI_CAPA_EVAL_STD
    SAP_PP_PI_CAPACITY_EXP

    Dev,
It is possible to generate roles using PFCG or PFUD up to a extent of choosing 8 per a time and it won't accept more than that. So please check with it before proceeding in this issue.
It is advisable not to use SAP predefined roles, rather than using customized roles.

  • Standard Content Roles and BW content

Does anyone have any information that shows the standard Portal roles and the associated standard BI Content queries that are included in each role?
The BI content on sap.com lists some roles, but those are BW roles as opposed to portal roles. We're looking mainly at CRM marketing roles and need to determine which standard queries apply to which roles on the portal.
Thanks for any information you might have!

    Hi Adam,
in a clean portal there are no BI roles...
Check the description of the Business Packages which is to be found in the <a href="http://help.sap.com">SAP Help</a> or here in the Portal Content Portfolio under SAP NetWeaver >> Portal in the left hand navigation.
