Standard network assigning various WBS Elements

Hi,
I am using Standard network and Stand WBS Element for creating actual project.
There are Std WBS Elements, using the same Standard network. As i know, we can assign Std WBS Element in Std network. How can i make it using same std network for various Std wbs element to create actual project as Std network is same for most of the WBS Elements.
I donot want to copy Std network for actual project once we create copying Std Project in CJ20N.

Yes, Iam sure that a single network can be assigned to more than 1 WBS at a same time.
A WBS can be assigned several activities even different networks also if required, but an activity can be assigned to one WBS element only. Once activities are assigned to WBS elements, you can exchange data between activities and networks. For example activities can inherit statuses from the WBS elements they are assigned to. Conversely you can total up project activity dates to WBS elements or can check funds allotted to activities against WBS.
A single or several networks can be used in the project structure, to map individual aspects of the project such as activities that are linked to each other via relationships. The relationships between two activities define the logical sequence of the activities (predecessor u2013 successor relationship) as well as their time dependencies. Activities of different networks can also be linked to one another. Advantage of network technique is that, system can automatically determine planned dates for each activity and entire network on the basis of duration of individual activities and their chronological sequence.

How to create and use templete or standard network / activity and wbs

dear
i have define the structure for my project which have WBS elements, network and activties. the strucutre is same for all the projects that i define.
i wanna know whether to use templete or standard wbs network and activities as templete for the project.
for a network there are almost 150 activties across 10 wbs elements i want this structure as a templete what can i do create it.
Further, how can i use LSMW to create relationship for ativities?

Attach a network to several WBS elements`

hi to all,
i would just like to ask if its possible for a standard network to be assigned to several WBS elements? this is because i have a Standard WBS structure with elements having similar activities, i wonder if i could just create a single network then assign them to SEVERAL WBS elements and not just one.

Hi,
To assign the standard network Activities to multiple standard WBS elements please follow the procedure below:
1. Go to Tcode :CN02 (If the network is already created with CN01 or else create with Tcode CN01)
2. Select the Network in question.
3. hit F5, this will take you to the standard network Header.
Assign the WBS Element where this network header should be asisgned.
4. Hit Shift+F1, this will take you to the screen where internal, external activities can be entered. Please select the relevent tab. And enter all the activities.
5. By default all the activities are assigned to the WBS element mentioned in the Network header, this can be seen by scrolling little right in the same screen under the column standard WBS Element.
6. Pick the column Standard WBS element and drop it next to Operation short text.
7. Now identify the activities to which the different WBS elements need to be assigned. Either select them from the list or you may refer to Tcode. CJ93.

Hi Diwakarnd,
You can use any of the following reports to get the information you require.
1. S_ALR_87013557 - Budget/Actual/Variance
2. S_ALR_87013558 - Budget/Actual/Commitment/Rem Plan/Assigned
3. S_ALR_87013559 - Budget/Distributed/Plan/Distributed
Some of these reports use a complex selection criteria from various tables which has been grouped together, logically by SAP. The Logical Database table name for PS is PSJ.
Execute transaction code SE36 -> PSJ -> (Subobject : Radio button Structure) -> Click on Display.
You would see all the underlining tables used.

Sales order assignment to WBS element

Can somebody tell me Where a Sales order is assigned to a WBS element?
I am aware that it is assigned to WBS element Field in Item details>>Account assignment Tab. But in this tab page on Sales Order screen, I am not able to see WBS Element field. I am able to see the WBS element field for FERT items but not for DIEN.
Can somebody tell me where exactly is this done so that I get the WBS element field populated in SO?

Hope the following will fulfill u r requirement
1) What is WBS element?
2) What is the Tcode to get to that screen?
3) What is the need and pupose of WBS element?
4) Do we happen to work on Functional module during our implementaion project? 5) In what scenario/situation we will be working on WBS?
WBS is nothing but Work Breakdown Structure. It is mainly used in Project System (PS) module. Tcode : CJ20N
For any project defined we must have atleast one WBS. Within this WBS we can have networks. Networks are nothing but the series of activities. Material are used to perform the activities.
To explain in detail just consider one example:
Govt of india wants to have Roads to be build through out the india. So Project can be defined in sap as Connectivity.
WBS can be roads within different states like Roads for Gujarat, Karnataka etc.. i.e. WBS Gujarat, WBS Karnataka etc.
We can define different networks for these WBS like Road Between Ahmedabad to Surat or Between Bangalore to Belgham.
For this network we can have many activities like Land selection, Land Preparation, Road Building, Final finishing etc etc.
Hemals example was a good example. Project Systems comes into play only when the industrys business is based on projects like Construction companies, Engineer to Order scenarios. You may not see anyone using PS module for retail business. As Hemal explained in that example, you have a main project which is broken down into WBS elements. You can use the TC CJ20N to create the project and the WBS elements. Each WBS may have mutiple Networks associated and each Network may have multiple Network Activities as explained in the example by Hemal.
On the Sales Order, if your client is implementing PS module, you may have to attach the Sales Order to the WBS element it belongs to. WBS element is nothing but a bucket where all the activities belonging to that particular part of the project are captured. In the example, WBS Gujurat will tell you how many Sales Orders were created for the Gujurat sector, howmuch was spent on raw materials, whats the currect stock ([roject stock) available. How many Production Orders have been confirmed and howmany of them are getting confrmed in the future. How many invoices have been generated or how much revenue has been generated for that particular sector. How many deliveries have been made, what deliverables are still not accomplished.
So as you can see, PS is the center stage for all the modules that are being implemented like FI/CO, SD, MM, PP in this example. You can have cost centers and work centers defined. You can also have profit centers assigned at the plant level and get reports on varius selection criteria.
In a complete cycle of PS, like in reality, you initiate a project, you confirm/release the WBS/activities as per requirement, you execute the project and you close it.
One cannot initiate an activity unless it has been released by the project manager. Everything is accountable here and every dime is counted and at the end you know howmuch did you spend or make on each sector (WBS). Dont get confused with the term sector here I am using it just for the explaination purposes.
In one typical example, the company I was working with until not too long ago, had Deliveries from the Project (TC: CNS0). We never used VL01N. We used CNS0 to create a delivery and then used VL02N for confirming the picking quantity for the already created delivery document.
I hope this should help you at least a bit. Im not a PS consultant so I may not know a whole lot but trying going to CJ20N and you will see a lot yourself.
PS concultants are one of the highest paid consultants. Their supply is less and so is the demand. They are expected to understand real world business processes very well and they are generally the center stage of a project.

Attach Network to a WBS Element

I have created a network having activity and its milestone using BAPI bapi_network_maintain, and a project and its wbs elements using bapi_project_maintain. Now i've to attach the network to the wbs element using a bapi.How to achieve this??

I dont know which version you are using. But, it is there since release 4.0A. Go to t.code BAPI > click on Alahabetical tab ? Network > Maintain > INetwork Update. that is BAPI_NETWORK_UPDATE

Standard Price Update fo WBS Element

Hi SAP Community,
For a free stock material I can update the standard price by transaction code CK11N and mark/release by CK24;
For a sales order stock material I can update the standard price by transaction code VA02;
But how can I update a standard price for a WBS element stock material??

why do u want to standard price to be updated to WBS element

Now I need help on how to create network activities.
Can anyone share on how to pass data to I_NETWORK table and I_ACTIVITY table and a brief description on what they are ?

Do the following steps
1.pass the following to i_method_project
method_project-refnumber = lv_refnum.
method_project-objecttype = 'NETWORK-ACTIVITY'.
method_project-method = 'UPDATE'.
concatenate aufnr(network nr) vornr(activity) into method_project-objectkey.
2.Into i_activity
activity-network = aufnr.
activity-activity = vornr.
3.i_activity_update
activity_update-network = 'X'.
activity_update-activity = 'X'.
It should work.If not let me know.

on ps texts account, can u pl let me know, how i can restrict using the ps texts assigned to one project, bcos the same ps text can be edited or modified any other user.
ps texts may be different eg, different excel sheets assigned at wbs elements.
1. abc project wbs assigned xyz ps text (excel sheet)
2. zyx project wbs assigned xyz1 ps text (excel sheet)
the above are used by two different users.
if abc project user goes thru cj02 for editing the ps text xyz, but at the same time, if this user goes thru pull down list, he can also pick up xyz1 ps text and can do edit/modify.
is there any way to restrict thru basis/ps control or authorisations
my requirement whatever assigned ps text is only has to be changed/modified as & when the user opens project thru cj02

Copy partner function from sales order to WBS element

Hello
Does someone know if it is possible to copy the partner function and its assignment from the sales order to the WBS element?
In our project, we create sales order with article having a strategy group (85) view MRP3. Thanks to that a network and a WBS element is created in background based on template. In the template a partner determination procedure is maintained => partner tab in the WBS element is displayed (CJ20N) but the partners maintained in the sales order are not populated.
Is something missing in the customizing?
Is it possible to do it in standard?

Hello Tison.
I guess you have the Project created with a BAPI in your system in background. As far as I have seen I'd try the following in ABAP to create Partners in the Project Definition: BAPI_BUS2001_PARTNER_CREATE_M or the corresponding method ProjectDefinitionPI.PartnerCreateMultiple. This should happen in background when the Project is created also.

Is it really a standard SAP behaviour which will allows only billing WBS element to be account assigned to a sales order line item? There must be some setting in sales item category or document type or requirement class. Anybody has any idea?
All of a sudden in my case the sales order document is behaving differently. It is also accepting a non-billing WBS element to be account assigned.
Some document says that even a non-blling (operative indicator) WBS element can be account assigned. However revenues can flow from sales order only if the WBS element is ticked as billing element.
In that case, how to set a control in the sales document from not accepting a non-bllling WBS element to be account assigned?
