Standard or Enterprise Version
I am putting together a proposal at work to start using
ColdFusion and I want to confirm that the Standard Edition will
suffice. I know the company will not want to purchase the
Enterprise Edition and I don't think that it is needed but want to
make sure.
We are going to have one apache server for the Website and
have one W2K3 server for ColdFusion. The Apache server will send
ColdFusion requests to the ColdFusion server. (Makes sense. :-) )
Is there any reason we would need the Enterprise Edition?
Thank you for any input.
Bob
The standard version works for us well here (at a bank). We
had enterprise back under v4.5 but dropped down to standard when we
upgraded to MX.
The one thing I predict we'll eventually miss (maybe) is the
Gateway technology. And we've got a ways to go yet before anyone
here starts talking seriously about clustering, as well.

Standard vr Enterprise version CF8
Hello, I'm just try to find out what it mean, when Adobe said
that in the Standard Edition some Enterprise features will run
limited, I had saw the white paper and fin the this features are
llimited to one shared simultaneous request, what's the meaning of
this???, and what will be the effect in my apps???, please help me
understand thanksIf one uses one of those throttled enterprise features in
ones
application running on a standard server they will be single
threaded.
Which means that if multiple users utilize one of those
features at the
same time the server is going to process them one a time in
sequence
first come first served and the other users will just have to
wait until
their turn.
On low load applications this will likely not be an issue,
but it is
something to keep in mind of ones standard based application
starts to
grow in use and load. -

Enterprise vs Standard : technical view
If you install Enterprise you must:
- install Enterprise whith all the modules
- apply the patch 8.1.5.0.1
(if all the modules weren't installed, the patch fails because
he tries to relink non installed products)
If you install Stardard you must:
- install Standard
- no patch required !
Enterprise vs Standard : package
Standard is good enougth for a lot of purposes. It includes
TextRetrival, Java inside the database, etc.
With Enterprise, you can by additional products like Spatial
data, Time Series, etc.
Hope this helps,

Oracle 11g standard vs enterprise
hi,
Is there a way I can compare the features between 11g standard vs enterprise version. Currently we have an enterprise version installed . But we are thinking to downgrade it to standard edition due to the licensing cost.
Thanksuser13168644 wrote:
t I am only interested to audit the "SELECT" statements. The whole idea is to see , apart from the schema owner , who else including dba or users with dba privileges are issuing select statements against the salary and other sensitive data. Any thoughts about that , in standard edition ?Oracle exposes no triggers at the SELECT level to which we can attach such an audit function.
So, the only option you have is to replace auditing with prevention.
At least with ordinary users, this can be done quite easily with VIEWs. Have two views on your sensitive tables, one which excludes the columns you're worried about and one which includes them. Grant privileges on each view accordingly. This may necessitate some rewriting of your application. A variation on this approach would be to have one view, which programmatically obfuscates the values in the sensitive columns depending on a value stored in a user-defined CONTEXT.
Of course, this won't keep out the privileged users. Disable CREATE SESSION for the schema owner: nobody should be using that account in production.
But as for your DBAs ... You'll just have to take some of the money you save from the Enterprise Edition licenses and pay them more, to keep them honest. Let's face it, as you're springing for Audit Vault right now, your DBAs can hack the audit trail anyway, and you'll never know.

10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.4 standard and enterprise
Hello,
We are on 10.2.0.4 (standard and enterprise) version on windows 2003 and we wan to upgrade to 11.2.0.3 or 11.2..0.4? I want to understand which one is the best method? Also upgrade procedure for standard and enterprise would be same?
We can afford 2- 3hours of downtime
our database sizes are
300 GB Standard
200 enterpeise
3 Tb enterprise
Please helpAlways test the upgrade process on a test database (cloned from production) on identical hardware. 3-4 hours is do-able if you -
1. install and patch the 11.2.0.4 software in advance
2. Use DBUA
3. follow all of the recommendations in MOS Doc 455744.1
4. test the upgrade process multiple times to anticipate/correct all issues and minimize downtime

Difference 8i Standard a4nd Enterprise Edition
Can anyone tell me the difference in terms of functionality between the Standard and Enterprise version of Oracle 8i? (Except for the huge difference in price...)
/emattssonHi,
So, take a look at [url http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/oracle10g/pdf/twp_general_10gdb_product_family.pdf] Oracle Database 10g Product Family (PDF) in [url http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/oracle10g/index.html]Oracle 10g page

We are running Oracle 9i with 9.2.0.3.0 patch. How can I tell if this is the Standard or Enterprise version of Oracle?
Select * from v$version should tell you if it is Enterprise Edition or not.

Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version?
Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version of Coherence or is the Grid edition required? Please keep in mind that I am only interested in doing what is legal from a licensing standpoint, even if some other options are technically possible.
Regards,
isailhobieYes, a C++ (or .NET) client can access a Coherence Grid regardless of what edition is licensed. In our parlance, this is called a "Data Client". A Data Client provides you access to data and services on the grid, for example with put/get/query, etc. A "Real Time Client" requires a Grid Edition license. Real Time Clients allow real-time synchronization with the grid; this enables continuous query caches, near cache, etc.
For a complete description of Coherence features by edition, including discussion of the three types of clients, please see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14510/appfeatures.htm#BABIGHCF

What version of SQL 2005 to use with ALUI 6.1, Standard or Enterprise?
On the installation doc, it only mentioned that SQL2005 in 2000 compability mode is required for ALUI6.1. However, I got questions from SQL DBA group of what version: Standard or Enterprise. I am assuming it's standard, but I'd like to verify it. Does anybody know the answer? Thanks.

[email protected]I don't believe we draw a distinction between support for SQL Server 2005 Standard vs. Enterprise editions. Either one should work fine.

My company is thinking about upgrading to CF7 or 8 when it
comes out and I'm trying to figure out the difference between
standard and enterprise. The feature list is here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/productinfo/product_editions/
but most of it has to do with multi-threaded architecture and I'm
not sure where that will be beneficial aside from speed? We only
have one application that currently runs on two servers and we will
probably have the same set up when we upgrade. We have a separate
Sun server for our Oracle 8i DB. We also only have a few thousand
(<10k) users.
I've looked at some of the other discussions, but they don't
seem to address what I'm looking at, though we do use Oracle and
paross1 said (
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=1&catid=3&threadid=11 61180)
that the Standard edition was lacking, but that was June of last
year, so maybe this will be fixed in other versions (big maybe)?
What are your experiences and recommendations? Thanks!Ugh! I found that the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle drivers
caused me lots of problems when I was on Oracle 8, and I found
Oracle's ODBC drivers much less "buggy", at least when using CF
4.5. You might try downloading the CF 7 developer version and set
up your Oracle 8 client and ODBC drivers to see how it works.
However, I just looked on the Oracle OTN site at
OracleODBC
Drivers for Windows and it appears that they no longer list
drivers for any db version below 9.0.1.... bummer. (I'm surprised
that you are still using Oracle 8, since Oracle hasn't supported it
for years, and it is going to get harder and harder to find
connectivity support.)
Anyway, good luck.

Standard vs Enterprise different?
I'm trying to find out how to calculate the maximum
connection/capability of a server in real life.
Let's say, I've a dual xeon with 4GB ram + HD RAID5 or SAS...
WIN or LINUX + CF8 32 or 64 Bit.
For your experience, in a company that has connection around
50 users. Is this enough for that hardware + CF8 Standard Edition?
Then when I should consider Enterprise version? One of my
customer has ~200 users, should I change hardware + version of CF?
The application is based on Flex + CF. Not much PDF
generation. Usually use Transfer-ORM, ColdSpring, + PostgreSQL
backend.
I've this problem because I don't have enough experience for
CF server. Please someone, guide me how to choose between Standard
& Enterprise version.jedt3d wrote:

I have seldom seen throughput or number of users as reasons
to choose
between standard and enterprise. They both will handle
considerable
load and numbers like 50 and 200 should be a drop in the
bucket for each
server depending on what type of heavy load tasks they may be
expected
to carry out.
I.E. a heavy processing application used by 10 users could
bring a
enterprise server to it's knees while a standard server could
easily
handle 10's of thousands of users on a well thought out and
properly
scaled application.
Factors you probably want to consider are features. Standard,
at this
time, is only 32 bit. So if you want to make use of 64 bit
hardware you
probably want to consider enterprise.
Enterprise allows multi-home and J2EE configurations.
Multi-home allows
for single box application isolation and roll over effects as
well as
the ability to make use of more memory then a single JVM can
access. A
bit under 2GB for a 32 bit installation. J2EE configuration
allows you
to use other Java Servers then the built-in JRun4.
Enterprise as more throughput for some tasks such as e-mail,
gateways
and such. Some of these features are single threaded on
standard while
they make full use of multi-thread capabilities in the
enterprise version.
My gut instinct from your original post is that Standard
would probably
be enough for you. But if you want to speak to somebody in
Adobe you
could provide real answers try one of these contacts.

SQL Standard vs Enterprise Edition for SharePoint 2013
Do all SharePoint 2013 BI features come with SQL Server SP1 Standard Edition?
Is there any difference if I install SharePoint 2013 on SQL standard edition rather that enterprise edition? No, all BI features come with the Business Intelligence or Enterprise version. Take a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx.
Yes, there is a difference in how databases are handled when not dealing with BI features. The two largest examples are the lack of being able to snapshot databases (for content database or site collection backups) or perform an online reorganization of
indexes in Standard.

Code working fine in Enterprise version giving syntax error in Rel 4.6C
Hello All,
<b>Consider the following piece of code.</b>
FORM fill_itabs TABLES p_t_table
p_t_table_dummy.
Internal table to be used for dynamic where condition
DATA: lt_wherecond TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_wherecond,
Structure for dynamic where condition
ls_wherecond TYPE ty_wherecond.
p_t_table_dummy[] = p_t_table[].
REFRESH lt_wherecond[].
CLEAR ls_wherecond.
ls_wherecond-data = 'kunnr = p_t_table_dummy-kunnr'.
APPEND ls_wherecond TO lt_wherecond.
SELECT kunnr INTO TABLE gt_kunnr
FROM kna1
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN p_t_table_dummy
WHERE (lt_wherecond).
ENDFORM.
This is working fine in Enterprise version, but when I am trying the same in Rel 4.6C, I am getting a syntax error at the Select statement which states,
"The WHERE condition does not refer to the FOR ALL ENTRIES table.-"
Could anyone please suggest how to avoid this error?
Regards
IndrajitHi Chemmam,
yes, that will be a version problem. The general rule says, always use the NWDS corresponding to your server, and the main reason are the differences within the webdynpro implementation.
So if you have a 6.40 with SP13 for example, use NWDS 2.0.13 as the base of your deployment.
Hope it helps

SAP on Windows 2008 R2 Standard to Enterprise Edition
Hello!
We are using SAP NetWeaver System running on Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition (VM Ware).
We are planning to extend RAM size of this server up to 50GB.
Is there any possibilites for an Inplace Upgrade from Standard to Enterprise Edition?
Thank you!Actually, it is possible. I haven't done it myself, but there is a tool, DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool), that supposedly supports in-place edition upgrades, i.e. exactly what you're describing. It's talked about in Microsoft Technet at Upgrading Windows Server 2008 R2 without media - Server Core - Site Home - TechNet Blogs. It's about the same thing as a "Windows Anytime Upgrade" that you see available in Windows 7 or 8, so no reinstall is necessary.
If I recall correctly this wasn't possible in earlier versions of Windows Server, and that's probably what Reagan is remembering.
Let us know how it goes!
Best regards,
Matt
