Standard service category usage

hello MM Gurus,
i am little bit confused how to take the advantage or utilize the functionality of standard service category . can any one explain me significance of
1. Structure of service type where it shows

the above thing i m taking from sap help . i am unable to understand the exact functionality and how this SSC texts can be helpfull in creating or working with service pos.
right now i m working with service master only ,entering service number in service po . what are the additionoal benift i get from using the standard service catalogue (SSC) and Model Service Specifications (MSS)
pl comment on this , if any one has document or related notes please share .

I want to make use of the field service type of Stadard ser. cat in AC03 ( Service Master ).

In AC03->goto->classification you can assign a class to the service master.
The class (or many classes) is defined in CL01 with class type 038. You can also define characteristics(CT04) and add to this class (CL01/CL02) to represent properties of service.
Example:
Service category: Construction
You want to differentiate services related to earth work, building, painting separately.
Define Characteristics (CT04): Type of service. Define values for this characteristic as 'Building', 'Earth Work', 'Painting'
You can define a class (CL01): COnstruction Services and assign the above char
In AC03, you can assign this class to services and assign a value for characteristic which best represents the service.

If I need to create a new item category usage code and perform item category determination using the new item category usage code, is there a user exit or function module which is able to perform this?

If you are going to create a new item category usage to determine an item category, you need to add a new line in transaction VOV4 for the new combination of sales document type + Item Cat. group + usage + high leve item cat. to determine the item category.

Item Category Usage

We define Item Category Usage in 0VVW T code . But I want to know , where we can maintain it so that system picks up the usage for that particular item in sales order when we maintain the usage for an example FREE ( Free Goods ) in item category determination ?
Example :
In item category determination we maintained
item category group -   NORM
Sales doc type          -   OR
Usage                      -    FREE
Higher level item       -    Blank
Item Category          -     TANN
So from where does the system picks up this Usage ( FREE ) for that item

Item category usage - how to configure

My client requirements are
Need a new Usage code (item category usage)
description = "Included with System "
The users will use this to add items to the sales order as Free Goods but the revenue for the items is already embedded in the main item
How to configure this?
Also are there any additional updates required to allow the usage code to be used ?

Usage indicator is something else. Just go through F1 help and see for what purpose we can use this field. What you are looking for is free goods configuration. This has been discussed so many times. Search with thext free goods and see if you find something. If you have some other requirement then come again with more explanation.

Also I have searched the usage field in MARD/MARC/MARA, no mention of usage field

Usage field will tell what is the purpose of Particular Material
Example:
FREE: For free goods Material
CHSP: Batch Items
TEXT: Text Materilals..etc
Higher level item category and Item usage are used in the item category determination.
Let me take an example of Item Category TANN (Free of charge Item)
Item category Determination: Sales Document type + Item Category Group + Usage + Higher Level Item Category
TA + NORM + FREE + TAN = TANN
Higher Level Item category: The category on which this item category is dependent. meaning for TAN , TANN is a free item. Therefor TAN is the higher level item category.
Item Category Usage: It controls system response during document processing. The line item has an specific usage according to that usage it has to respond. Free for free items, text for text items etc.

Category for service category S046 does not exist

Dear Experts,
This is regarding the Bdoc error "Category for service category S046 does not exist". ECC service materials are trying to replicate from ECC to CRM. In our scenario we doesn't required ECC service material in CRM. I have not downloaded service materials relevant data. Still i am facing the above error.
Please help to fix the above error.

How to use a standard service available in SOAP to ABAP proxy scenario?

My scenario is SOAP to ABAP proxy wherein I have to send Sales Order from Third party TC to SAP.
Third Party->SOAP Adapter->PI 7.1->ABAP Proxy->ECC.
I have seen a standard service available at the following URL.

I am actually looking for using standard webservice that has been provided by SAP in ESWorKSPACE available on sdn.
The WS that you mentioned is inbound and hence wont suit your requirement!
The reverse flow may however be possible.

Enhance node of standard service in a new enhancement namespace - PI 7.0

I'm hoping some body has encountered a similar scenario while enhancing a standard service.
We are following [this guide |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0bb5687-00b2-2a10-ed8f-c9af69942e5d?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] to enhance a data type which is available through the SAP APPL 6.03 namespace.
Refererring to page 6 in the above document. We are unable to enhance the nodes of the standard service. Any 'Data Enhancements' of this message type, ends up being appended to the end of the standard message type. Which is enhancement type 1 in the document.
I would like to understand how can we achieve the following:
--> How to enhance the standard message type which is referred to in a different namespace, such that, only my message type belonging to the enhancement namespace is modified and not the reference message type in the SAP APPL 6.03 namespace?
--> The enhancement should be such that I'm able to recieve future updates of this message type by SAP. This rules out modifying the standard message type and making a copy of it, I'm assuming...
I'm looking to enhance the message using 'Alternative 2 "Enhance"' for customers/partners described in Page 5.
Any help to overcome this issue will be very much appreciated.

The node issue is now resolved, we noticed that for each standard data type, there are several more, which are being referenced, we enhanced the reference nodes and then call the main message.
Now, I'm looking to add a custom 'Element' using the Data Enhancement. Using Data Enhancement, I seem to only be able to add a custom structure but not a custom element.
I'm hoping for some help here..

I modified the ULS-logging to include verbose entries. The problem is correlated to Excel Services, which are functioning quite well on our side. Our Topology consists of an application server, 2 WFE and an office app server. We are using the BI features
of PowerPivot via an additional BI-SQL-server in SharePoint-mode.

We define item category usage...
We assign it to a sales doc typ, item category group to get item category.
But how it is getting determined for a material? Where is the link?

i've actually been thinking about this issue since i started posting. yes, you can find item usage in customer-material info. but where is item usage assigned so that this is relevant in item category determination (as in: sales doc type + item category group + item usage + higher level item category = item category)?
how does the system, for example, know that usage is blank (for normal processing) or 'FREE' for free goods? is the item usage in the condition records created?
where does the system find the indicator (item usage CHSP) when batches are involved?
although there have been many helpful threads, including the 'where used' list, a definitive answer would be very much welcome.

Once u will get the access of this Object, u will be able to post the SES.

No Service category determined

HI,
IN single invoice amount 10000 , in this amount 6000 service tax remaining 4000 vat , we need to calulate both the tax through,
FB60 at a time.
Due to this IN fb60 i posted 2 line iteams
6000 line iteam i given Service tax code
4000 line item i given vat tax code
it is simulating and tax calculating corectly when iam posting iam getting errore = No Service category determined
IN the service tax vandor code and gl account , service tax catageri i allready maintained in tabel level.(J_1IVSERCATMMFI1)
