Standards for playing music

I installed QuickTime for Windows yesterday, and aside of the fact that I don't like that it automatically also installed this iTunes-thing and for some reason also made MSN active (which I did not request either in any way), it is roundabout annoying that it made itself standard for playing music files and video files despite that I checked "no" when it asked whether I would like to make it standard.
Seeing as I download a lot of music I need to get rid of that because it takes up an awful lot of time (in the past Windows Media Player did the downloading, but now QT opens in the IE window and considerably slows down browsing even if I use multiple windows.)
So, my question is, how and where should I go on my computer to return Windows Media Player to standard for playing musics files?

Where is the control panel? The only "advanced" panel I could find was by clicking "preferences -> Quicktime-Preferences" and it doesn't have anything called MIME-settings.
Also, I don't want to right-click files, I already am doing that to get around QT and that is still taking much time. I want it to open in Windows Media Player like it used to do, if it was possible before it should be possible again.

Does Itunes have a solutions for playing music in a business setting?  Can you play your downloaded music in a business-overhead speakers?

Presuming you are referring to the iTunes Store, tracks purchased from that service are for personal use only and are not licensed for use in any commercial setting. You will need to either find a commercial service to provide music (easiest by far, though perhaps not the cheapest), or buy the appropriate CDs and then obtain a license from the various rights clearinghouses for playback in commercial use.

Another thing to remember is the phone is actually usable for 911 calls and maybe others. Not a real good idea. Especially for a child.
It would depend however on the age of the child.

  • Apps for Playing Music & Videos - Lumia 1320

Can anyone name an app excellent for playing music from folders & an app for video playing with subtitles for NOKIA Lumia 1320?
Moderator's Note: The subject was amended as we have created a new thread for this topic and moved it to the more appropriate board.

Luckily, there is an excellent app named MoliPlayer Pro. there is a free trial, but it does play alternative video format files such as MKV, RMVB, MOV etc.

  • Audio standards for importing music.

Is it just me or is there complete apathy for the way that audio sounds now? It drives me up the wall the way that some listeners can bounce .mp4 files 10 times and not hear the loss in audio quality. I understand that the "standard" for my generation has turned in to the iPod earbud, but isn't there a better way to import? Maybe the solution lies in the mixing of music. No one listens to the songs they purchase on iTunes on high-end stereos anymore. Should we be mixing for earbuds?
    Powerbook G4 15''   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

There's no "standard" for mixing and mastering audio so...
There are standards for file types but the "quality" of the converted music is left up to whoever makes the codec.
How would this standard for importing music work exactly?

Sure there is. Crank up the bit rate or go with lossless.
RIP a CD a few different ways and compare the RIP'd songs.
If size does not matter, use Lossless, AIFF or WAV.
About the only reason for MP3, AAC and other lossy codecs is to make the file size smaller.

  • IOS 6 not designed for playing music

The new IOS 6 sucs for playing muic. The player in the lock screen is the as small as possible, having a big screen useless. Apple should go back to simple, an Ipod is for music hearing and should think to get a bbeter acces to stop, play, change of song wihout having to look for the super small icons in the screen.
Also when playing music with shuffle, it always stars from the first song you played and continus in the same order, in past IOS it was always shuffle!

  • Bluetooth for playing music in a car

I just bought a jabra which is a handsfree bluetooth device that has a speaker, and mounts to your visor so you can enjoy handsfree talk. But this device also has a fm transmitor so I can play my songs through my car stereo (or listen to conversation thru)...this is all via bluetooth. So I just walk into my truck and away I go...Im tranmitting to my speakers. Problem is...the fm transmitor *** butt. And though some people may be happy with it...Ive invested too much money into my audio to allow static to blow my speakers.
So...my question is...is there a bluetooth device that you can use for handsfree talking that hooks into your car via aux cables. OMG....if there is I would be so thrilled. The jabra is an awewsome concept...but the transmitor is not strong (and if someone suggest a new station I will freak out). But the same device using aux cables would be something everyone should have.

    I bought one of these --> http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson-MBR-100-Bluetooth-Receiver/dp/B000NWB0J0/ref =sr16?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1259084155&sr=8-6
It works well, but there's no volume control on the unit, and it disables the volume control on the iPhone - so you wouldn't want to use it with headphones. For playing through a car stereo, it works just fine.

  • Time Capsule cables for playing music

With Airport Express, you can have a cable run to your receiver and play music. There doesn't seem to be the same cable port available on the Time Capsule. Is there a converter cable to achieve this?

ejsmith73, Welcome to the discussion area!
No. This is not a feature of the Time Capsule and it has no ability to play music.

  • How can I use ios internal music player for playing music?

    Hi All,
I know how to play MP3s using Adobe Air, but I have no idea how can I possibly use the INTERNAL MUSIC PLAYER of iOS with Adobe Air? Is tha possible? Is there any native extentions for this purpose or some codes??
Thanks a lot and I appreciate any help in this case please?
    Ali

Thanks a lot for your kind reply. Now at least I know where to go from here!
Actually I have no experience with Native extensions so far, even while I've developed some apps for Android and iOS using Adobe Flash CS6, that they happen all to have sound players as well.
The problem is, in my Apps (sample below) I have programmed the ability to let users Play / Pause / Stop (Navigate) the MP3s that will be downloaded from Internet based on their selection. as this player is NOT using the iOS native player, consequently, the main negative results are as follows:
    - App does not catch downloaded mp3 files for offline use or if WIFI disconnected suddenly (unlike iOS player)
    - in Lock screen, Users do not have access to the playback of sound.
    - wireless FM transmitters or other kits used in cars, can not control the playback unlike iOS internal player.
Based on above discussion and your suggestion to use Native extentions, I just found this one:

Do you think this will satisfy my needs?

***.are Apple doing? why offer an update without warning people about the  consequences!
I've just updated my old iphone4 to ios7. this phone as no sim card, as i use it more like an ipod..after the update it ask for a code, i put in the passlock code.
Unbeknown to me the sim lock and the passlock codes were different! as the sim as been deactiavted by my carrier they cant give me a PUK code!
I'm now stuck with a phone i cant use
    any suggestions please!

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • How to open and play music on Beats Audio in my new HP ENVY PC

I bought a new HP ENVY PC that comes with Beats Audio.
How to I open it and play music?
How to I import music to Beats Audio?
    Thanks fr your help

    Hi,
Beats audio does not provide a program for playing music. You can open Beats audio in Control Panel and configure sound characteristics using the various options available such as the graphics equalizer.
You can play music by opening Windows Media Player or using Cyberlink PowerDVD.
You can also "Google" media players for other programs.

  • After upgrading to iOS 7, my phone will no longer play music through my uconnect car audio, even after re-pairing... any ideas?

I have a 2012 jeep and my 4s was perfect for playing music from my phone.  After upgrading to iOS 7, the uconnect no longer will play music thru the bluetooth...  The phone works fine and I have re-paired the device to the uconnect, but it still doesn't work.  Any ideas or settings that I can change on the phone?  Uconnect basically says that it is, what it is.. they cant change the settings on the stereo....  HELP!

In my Sync vehicle, I had to "forget" the SYnc connection in the iPhone Bluetooth settings, then go into the car menu and delete the bluetooth device from the vehicle's system. Once I re-paired from scratch, it has been working fine. Give that a try. If not, try removing the connection from both sides again, then Reset Network Settings from the General Settings before re-pairing.
