standby CSM go hanging. without log message.
and no output for CSM command that "show mod csm 9 vser, show mod csm 9 real" and can't connect vserver on this CSM...

what does 'sho mod 9' says about the module status ?

How many msfc ?

What software version for the csm ?

Was this csm working before ?

Can you bring the csm up again with a reset ?
If so, how long does it take for the problem to show up again ?

Is there a way to sync config between active and standby CSMs? Just as one that in CSS.

HI,
there is right now no command to commit redundancy between two CSM-Modules. Maybe in the future there will be one. Okay in regards of sync the only way is to check for redundancy is the show mod csm x ft command. But be aware that some slight differences like a real not being in service are sometimes not recognized.
In regards of the SSLModule there is no way as far as I know to sync them. This won't be present in the future in my opinion as there are certificates which require a password or something like that and one won't be able to do redundncy without those passwords. So In my opinion no way to sync two SSL-Module because of security issues.

Physical Standby and Primary Hangs after Role Reversal

Created Physical Standby using two machines.(10.2.0.2)
Plugged it into Grid Control(R3)
Tried to switch over. This was carried out successfully but then hanged while updateing the configuration. This is what I am getting in the drcMITDG.log on

Creating Logical Standby, DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; Hangs on Primary..

My two node RAC database Primary hangs upon executing SQL> exec DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; when creating a Logical Standby. I have stopped all the recovery processes on the Physical Standby. I have also taken down the instances on the RAC apart from the one I'm working on. Additionally not much info in the alert log...

The information from alert log file is not sufficient.
Can you log switch on primary and monitor whether it is archiving in standby or not.
and you can monitor the changes in "v$managed_standby"
Also check for the errors using "v$dataguard_status"
SQL> select error_cdoe, message, timestamp from v$dataguard_status where dest_id=<n>;

Second time application does not come - JWS hangs silently

Hi Guys,
I am using jdk1.6.02,Eclipse. When i launch my application for first time through JWS, downloading of files takes place,application is launched successfully. When i launch my application second time, JWS splash screen comes and disappears silently without raising error Message. Nothing happen after that.
On other hand i can launch application as many time through Eclipse.
I looked at logs C:\Documents and Settings\....\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\log but no clue why this is happening..
Can someone suggest What i need to do inorder to make sure application comes successfully second time as well? Where errors for JWS located on system?

Do you have a testcase can send to me? I would take a look to see if it is bug in Java webstart code, is this problem only apply to one application? or do you have any trouble to run other Java webstart application using JRE 1.6 u11? Another option is trying to run early JRE 1.6 release, such as 6u10 or early.

CSM-S active / standby sync

Hi All,
We have 6509 switch with FWSM (Bridged) and CSM in two different buildings, say site-A is Primary and site-B is DR. These two 6500 switch are configured with HSRP to decide primary. I can reach DR switch, FWSM and CSM but unable to reach the SSL module on DR side. Don't understand why. When I do ping, I get 1 successful reply after 10 - 15 failure ping request. I suspect it could be because of the bridged mode but not sure. Also I am doubt that is it possible to have CSM actvie / standby like this.

The SSL module management IP is reachable intermittently. It respond 3 ping requests out of 10. So don't know what is happening with SSL module. When I do config sync from Primary switch CSM configs are get replicated successfully so it means intercommunication between Primay and Standby CSM is fine. Only problem to reach the SSL module in standby.

But it didn't hang when execute select group#,status from v$standby_log;

[T400] hangs on shutdown/standby/hibernation

I was recently surfing on Lenovo Support & Downloads site for some driver updates.
I figured I needed to update audio driver, so I downloaded it and installed it.
[Conexant Audio Driver for Windows Vista and XP]
[Version: 4.92.7.0/3.64.7.0]
[Release Date: 2009 08/06]
It seem to work fine.
I was actually impressed about improved sound quality on my T400. (Using Smart Audio II Software)
However, there was huge down fall, It just won't shutdown properly!!
Everytime I tired to shut windows down/standby/hibernation, windows hangs and no responses.
Only hard drive indicator light was blinking periodically
I searched many places including this site for a solution, but still no solution yet.
I tired...
- Uninstalling and reinstalling.
- Installed .net framework 3.0 and 3.5 then install new audio driver.
Only thing that worked was to do system restore, through safe mode, prior to new audio driver installation.
After that everything works fine...but I would like to use Smart Audio II software-!!
anyone have same problem?

I have a similar problem. My system hangs sometime when I will shutdown the OS. Hipernating is normally no problem. But I have no clou why the system hangs. Who is responsible for the hang. It happends with new hardware or sometimes only when I add a new WiFi Network. I can't find any Log in the Eventmanager and nothing in the "Problems and Solution Center". Any idear how I can find more information about this error. I using Vista Ultimate 32.

Problem with Syncing configuration to our CSM

Recently we have had problems syncing between our pair of redundant CSM's.
Here is the behavior we observe when we run the command on one of our 6500.

We have tried replacing the SUP engine however this did not help. We will try to replace the CSM next. If anyone can shed some light on why this would happen I would apreciate it.

Chromium segfaults and hangs all X11

Hi, I'm getting this issue frequently (once or twice a day) using chromium. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I get random crashes while web surfing with chromium. The whole UI blocks: I can move my mouse pointer, but nothing reacts, not only in chromium, but nothing at all in the desktop environment (Gnome 3). I have to change to a tty and issue "systemctl restart gdm" or reboot to get back to normal.
This is what I could find in journalctl:

I started to get the same errors a couple of days ago, usually after resuming from standby. X11 hangs and only refreshes once you switch to some tty and back. A restart is necessary to solve the problem

CSM-S connections under Redundancy

We have installed two redundant Catalyst 6506E with CSM-S modules.
Now I can see that CSM-S #1 is active and CSM-S #2 is standby. Nevertheless I can see with "show mod csm 3 vserver" that there are a number of connections on the vservers on CSM-S #2, while there are no connections on the CSM-S #1.
Can anyone explain this behavior?

You probably have 'replicate csrp' configured on 1 or more Vservers. If that is true, the connections you are seeing are the result of session replication - i.e. the primary CSM telling the standby CSM what load balancing decisions he has made. In the event of a primary CSM failure, your standby CSM has all of the replicated sessions ready to go.

Problem with config sync between two CSM-S modules

The acitve module is used in a 6509 with WS-SUP720-BASE supervisor running software version 12.2(18)SXF12a.
The standby module is used in a 6509-V with VS-S720-10G supervisor (no VSS setup) running software version 12.2(33)SXI3.
Failover seems to work fine:

The last log message on standby device seems to be correct - there is no CSM configuration after the attempted config sync.
Our configuration includes about 3500 lines and it is really uncomfortable to keep in sync manually.
Maybe someone has the same problem?

I am running into the exact same issue. Upon further investigation I've discovered that this is a known bug, CSCtd09117. You can read more about it here: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtd09117 . Apparently this is fixed in ver 12.2(32.8.11)SX323 .
I haven't had a chance to upgrade yet, so I can't verify the fix, but if it works for you please let me know.

CSM config-sync in bridge mode?

We are planning to upgrade our CSM from 4.1.6 to 4.2.6 and wanted to be able to utilize the config-sync capabilites in the new code. First, is config-sync supported in bridge mode and has anyone had much success or problems? We weren't able to find documentation on this? Please help!

config-sync works with bridge mode and routing mode.
You might want to go to 4.2.7 due to this ddts :

I'd like upgrade too old CSM SW release 3.1(4) to current 4.2(7). I didn't found any dependencies, or other restrictions and therefore I think it's possible to upgrade directly to this 4.2 SW release. I'm sure? (CSM in redundant configuration is located in heavy production traffic and I'd like upgrade without any surprise:)
step-by-step SW upgrade:
0. save and sync configuration
1. upgrade SW on the standby module
2. restart standby module
3. upgrade SW on the active module
4. restart active module (stateful (sure?, because different SW releases on the active and standby CSM module) switchover to standby module)
5. after reboot, switchover to this module (preempt)
6. on both modules is new SW release
