Star Rating Help Please

I am using the star rating on my iPod but need some assistance...I mark the songs I don't like with a one star & these I delete the next time I plug the iPod into my computer. Two start are songs that are ok, but if I should ever need space I can delete them. Five stars are songs that I just love. Now, what do you suggest I use the three and four star ratings for?

Make some up of your own and see what they do.

Export to JPG with Star Rating

I am using LR4.2.
I have done it before while using LR3 - when exporting to JPEG, I like to include the star rating with those JPEG for easy sorting down the line (after finishing the photo in Photoshop). However, it seems like with LR4, something changed and now my star ratings no longer get exported when creating JPEGs. Is there a way to get that back? I have selected the option to include all metadata when exporting already.
Please help. Thank you.

When trying to create jpg or png files, there is no "Save as Copy" option, only "Export". I'm having the same issue with a script to output multiple formats. It will export jpg and png but the png file overwrites the jpg file because they don't have visible extensions.

Iterating through results help please

H i have a Mysql database that contains and ID and a rating. I would like to iterate through the results of the query and display a number of stras that relates to the rating.

Star rating disppear from images in Lightroom

When shooting tethered, my client has chosen the images and star rated those she likes. When I imported all the raw files into Lightroom 5.4, all the star rating are missing.
How can I see the star rating again in Lightroom? I cannot remember all the images that are chosen.
Can someone please help?

I have a feeling the * are lost; but as others, I can only understand the importing of the untethered files which I guess were not starred.
After the bull has escaped>>To keep the order as photographed you only needed to select "capture time" for Sort. Files could be moved into one job folder and everything is in order as long as any different cameras have the same time. I have made THAT mistake

Voice Ccontrol and star rating

I'd love to be able to rate songs easier! faster! Command:
"rate song = 4"
The problem with adopting star rating as axsystem is it's a hassle to rate all your songs. This would make it so much easier to adapt to using star ratings.
This feature would promote the use of iTunes DJ and iTunes in general.
Please suggest this feature request!

Star rating on Windows / colour coding on OSX

Hi Smart people in Appleland
Some of my team are on Mac (me in particular) and some are on Windows. We Sync files via Dropbox.
As part of our research we trawl a lot of documents and review them. On the Mac I colour code them (labels) for relevance (Green = great, Yellow = maybe, Grey = not relevant).
The folks on Windows use their star rating system ***** = great, *** = maybe, * = Grey.
At the moment, the Mac folks can't see their ratings, and the Windows folks can't see my colour codings. The workaround is to print out a screenshot and re-enter the ratings / colours, which works, but is tedious to say the least.
Does anyone have an alternative solution which can be seen on both platforms?

Will the issue occur with specific file type , specific file or all the file ?Have you tried to re-join the music to have a check ?

“Try Safe boot and then restart with only Aperture open. Still doent work write back with more details like Ram, HD capacity/free space. Are these thumbnails or Previews? Have you turned off building previews in AP preferances?

Starting up into Safe Mode does several things:
1 It forces a directory check of the startup volume.
2 It loads only required kernel extensions (some of the items in /System/Library/Extensions).
3 In Mac OS X v10.3.9 or earlier, Safe Mode runs only Apple-installed startup items (such items may be installed either in /Library/StartupItems or in /System/Library/StartupItems; these are different than user-selected account login items).
4 It disables all fonts other than those in /System/Library/Fonts (Mac OS X v10.4 or later).
5 It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/(uid)/ , where (uid) is a user ID number such as 501 (Mac OS X v10.4 or later).

As I don’t know much about the technical aspects of computers, I don’t really understand the first answer, and it sounds like following it might produce unwanted changes.
But I understand your questions, so I’ll try to answer them;
"loading from any Project" means that I encounter the problem when I’m using a project, possibly after/because I’ve left the Mac on overnight, and/or I’ve made a lot of adjustments, and, once the problem is there, it happens in any other project which I open – the images load then disappear.
I can see images in the Browser, so it only happens in the Viewer(s).
I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean by: “If you select "Photos" from near the top of the Library tab of the Inspector, does it show you all of your Images?”. I am a newcomer to Aperture, so I don’t know what some of the buttons are for yet, but when I want to look at and adjust my pictures, I import them, as referenced images, then Aperture creates a folder/project in the Library. When I click on that Project (when it’s working properly), all the images appear in the Browser or the Viewers – without me needing to “select Photos from near the top of the Library tab of the Inspector”. I selected it and looked at all the items in the dropdown menu, but none of them seems to offer the option to ‘show all the images’. So I’m not sure how to answer your question except to say that – yes, I can see all the pictures in the Browser or the Viewers (when it’s working properly), but I don’t seem to need to use the Photos button to achieve this.
Did Aperture work before?
Yes it worked ok for a while, but I only purchased it on 24th May.
If I understand correctly, the difference between thumbnail and preview is that the thumbnail is what I see when the “Loading” wheel is turning, and the disappearance of this wheel after a few seconds means that I am now looking at the preview (also, the thumbnail cannot be adjusted).
So I think the problem occurs when the thumbnail has finished loading; the viewer going blank/grey might mean that it is not showing the preview.
But I have not changed the default Preview settings in Aperture Preferences.

I have noticed another problem: I cannot apply the same rating to multiple images: following the instructions, I select a group of contiguous (or non- contiguous) images, choose a selection eg “5stars” using the keyboard, but the stars only appear in the last selected image – even though all the images are still showing as selected.”

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

How to get current logged in user's star rating in SharePoint 2013

Currently, I am developing a custom web part to show star rating for documents, everything is done.
However,when user hover on the star I want a tooltip message("Your current rating is 1..."), similar to what we have
in libraries(or what the sharepoint by default provides in libraries) . So can I get the user specific rating depending upon
the logged in user using code(.net or CSOM anything will work)

using the below code you can get the rated by user along with the rating , it's easier to just notify the user that her already rated the document

Feature Request: Advanced Star Rating

Is anyone else really interested in advancing star rating?
I rate all of my songs whenever I can. I wish every playlist had the ability to play higher rated songs more often. Not just smart lists. I have an idea tho as well that would be great. It should be very easy to choose your rating limitations in a playlist... maybe even have it as an extension of your PLAY button. You click play, drag down and choose which ratings you would like to limit your playlist to. Also... I want to be able to rate my songs through SIRI! We need to make rating songs as easy and natural as possible.
What if we could group songs into different "moods". This would be a way of putting all of the slow songs, heavy songs, instrumental songs into their own categories regardless of the umbrella "genre" that covers the entire album.
I think setting the "mood" of a song could be done at the same time on your iPhone as you are rating the song through gestures. So if you have 4 moods associated with your iPhone/iPod then when you click your Star you then drag down which reeals a list of moods to then choose. So you click the Star of your choice for the song and then drag down to choose the mood of the song. This is useful even within playlists because you can have a playlist playing and suddenly "switch the mood" and/or star rating limits of the playlist on the fly.
I think this type of feature will determine the music players of the future.
Until music players can read our minds! Yes, I honestly believe one day music players will know what you want to listen to even when you dont! Just by analyzing your mood... you know those times when you ask yourself... "what do i want to hear right now!" The music player of the future will tell you... Let's help get there!

Star Rating bar does not appear with images imported from file

Using Elements 11, cannot get the Star Rating bar to appear under images imported from file, although the intro to the program shows this as happening automatically.
Hope this goes through, as I have also created an account, but the question does not seem to be get a post.

Have you enabled Organizer to show details? You can enable show details by checking View > Detail is not already checked

my n97 that i absolutely LOVE wouldnt start the other day;
i figured it was coz it ran out of battery
after charging it and turning it back on,
the screen wouldnt turn on?
everything else was fine;
it made the nokia sound at the start
and the keys lit up also.
after looking at it;
i realised that the screen cable;
behind the screen; had snapped?!
is there anything i can do to fix this?
also;
if i have to take it to a store to get fixed..
how much and how long will it take?!

If its hardware, I would definitely recommend that you take it to Nokia care center. I dont think that it is not covered by warranty since I cannot think of a situation normally when the cable would just snap.

last year i applied to be on bt basic , the cheap one for if your on income support etc , it was excepted as far as i know but i have realized i was never put on it or if i was it wasn't for very long .
the only thing i can think is i was not aloud to have o2 broad band on the basic tariff , anyone know if thats the case ?
in the info about "basic " which is about £5 a month it says you can have broad band but this may mean only bt broadband ,
any ideas ?

Help Please - e-mailing to a Category

I've set up a group of 14 addresses as a category. When I create a new e-mail and type the category name into the addressees all looks fine, but when I send the e-mail it's only sending to three of the addresses. Can anyone help please??

Ideapad S10-3. can't install windows XP, help please!

1st problem: keyboard is working fine at boot menu. but on the part where i will enter my password on windows xp, keyboard is not functioning anymore. touchpad also stops functioning after i press a key, but initially touchpad is just fine, help please! i cant use my notebook, thanks!

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,
Based from what i read in your post, keyboard is not functioning when logging to windows & touchpad also is not working . Please try entering in Bios , and check if you are able to use the keyboard , Load setup defaults , Keep tapping F8 to load windows in safe mode and check .
If you are able to use the keyboard & touchpad , Try disabling startup by using MSCONFIG
Then restart and check .
You may also try using UBUNTU Live CD to verify if the keyboard and touchpad are working
