Star Trek and iTunes . . .
When I got a Digital Copy with "Wanted" it was in Quicktime and looked great on my HDTV. Now for Star Trek Paramount latched up with iTunes AND I have to have the "latest" version to get my Digital Copy. What if I don't want to use iTunes, much less want the latest version on my machine OF WHICH I am reading nothing but bad reports about.
I'm as comfy in 8.2.1 as I can be since I was updated one day with out my permission and nearly lost 11k+ tunes AND with later versions playing a cut in the Finder sounds better than in iTunes anyway. I've tried to watch movies on my 50" 1080p DLP and it just doesn't work. Through Quicktime, beautiful.
Has anyone played with this yet and figured out what is the "oldest" "latest" version that you can get away with? Or is there a way, Hmmmm, I could use MediaCentral, to do this right?!
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add that when I looked at the store for available downloads it only continued to download the movie extras which is only 69MB of menu items and no movie content.

Horizontal Gray Line appearing on my movie (Star Trek Into Darkness)

This is the issue - on Star Trek Into Darkness - a horizontal gray line appears at the bottom and doesn't go away at what ever resolution I put it at.

Alternatively, this is Star Trek and there is no gray line. I legitamtely purchased both of these movies, both Standard Definition (SD) but somehow, Into Darkness is giving me this gray line.
Solutions?
I've tried updating, restarting, tweaking preferences and so on.

Okay. Was concentrating more on finding a problem source that might be affecting both QT based apps (QT Player and iTunes) albeit with different problems. My basic assumption here is that the purchased file was correctly created and not corrupted during both download actions and doesn't really have either a video or audio problem. If true, then it is the players that are causing the playback problems and one point of commonality for both would be the QT structure routines shared by each. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain why each player manifests a different symptom for the same file. Was therefore asking if you were familiar with any known installation issues in this area. Also did not know if indiscriminant re-installation of the structure and/or affected apps would create a problem with the active media library under Windows if such action should become necessary. Did not find any reference to similar problems during a spot chack of movie file reviews and/or reported iTunes/QT problems under Windows OS but was hoping you might have come across something in your own experiences. Looks like this issue is a real mystery... -
Unauthorized to play star trek on my laptop
I bought the blu ray version of star trek and it came with a free digital version but when downloaded the movie it would not play and said I am not authorized to play it on my computer also I did authorize my computer . Can anyone help?

You don't say which film you're struggling to download, I had problems with a-team and I ended up emailing the address on the leaflet, turns out they had a lot of problems with people's codes, they then gave me a new code to use! I have now managed to get the film downloaded?

I recently purchased the most recent iPad. I bought the one with the most storage available, wifi only. I'm unable to download any iTunes purchases as they just disappear during the "Processing" portion of the download. I've tried this with the Star Trek Into Darkness soundtrack and the Star Trek (2009) film. All files behave the same way. Restrictions are currently not enabled. I can't figure out why it's doing this. Please help?
I have seen this on my iPad but it is usually with synced music. I know I have songs on the iPad but when I start tapping on the various tabs at the bottom of the app, I get the no Music message. Really quite annoying.
If I quit the Music app from the recents tray and restart the music usually shows up - because it's really ther and should show up! Not to be redundant, but did you try doing a spotlight search! Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the search feature. Or do you look in Settings>General>Storage>Usage and check to see if music is accounted for in there?
The only other thing that I can think of to try would be to reboot your router and see if that helps. Unplug it for about 30 seconds. -
i put in the code to get the digital copy for star trek into darkness, and i clicked download later, but it didn't show up in my movie library like the other movies i did the same thing to, where is my digital copy of star trek?
Yes, the old album art view is gone, bu you can see the album art for a song that's playing by clicking on the art image and it will open a bigger view.
Everything else in your post is a waste. I'm not going to spend time reading it. If - and I repeat if, you have a question on how to get the best out of the new look iTunes, post it. But don't spend your time in long rambling negative rants. -

Where can I find out about availability of titles on the itunes store?
I bought season 1 of the Star Trek Original series Remastered.
Seasons 2 and 3 are now available on DVD, but I cant find it in the iTunes Store.

Star Trek the Series on iTunes
I was wanting to purchase the entire series of Star Trek but by the time I got some iTunes cards to pay for it, it was gone. Does anyone know if it is still there where do I find it and if it's not there, why did they remove it? Thanks.
The iTS is at the mercy of the copyright holders/content providers. If they don't want it sold on iTS then you are out of luck. There was another post about the series now being available at Amazon.
As we are just fellow users and not Apple employees we have no idea why any content would be removed other that what I noted above.

Star Trek Voyager Episode 1 and 2 - Error 8008
I have bought the first two episodes of star trek voyager on iTunes but I have not been able to successfully download "Caretaker" or "Parallax". Everytime I try to download I get an error 8008. When I try to restart the download it gives me the same error message. The first download stopped at 30.0 megs and the second at 10.1 megs.
I have the same problem with Weeds. Nothing that I can find on the support site.

Why did I pay $19 for Start Trek Into Darkness pre-order, if Apple KNEW they were going to release a bundle on the release date and I could have got the other Star Trek movie for just $5 more? What the heck Apple, I feel completely ripped off.
I didn't even have time to cancel the preorder as that processed a couple minutes before the bundle was posted.

Is there any way to ask Apple to add a certian TV Show (Star Trek : The Next Generation) to the iTunes store in Australia?

But utlimately it's the TV studios choice, they are the people who will have to grant Apple a license to have it in the Australian store. -
Star Trek ID 1/5 iTunes extras "Movie Cannot be Played"
Hello
I recently downloaded my digital copy of Star Trek into Darkness.
The movie plays fine, the Extras work.
Except for extra feature "Brawl by the Bay" which gives me the dreaded message "Ths movie cannot be played on this computer."
This is odd to me as everything else in the files works fine.
I'd prefer not to redownload these extras, as I have a very slow internet connection, and this is the only one that does not work.
Does anyone have any idea why it would be doing this, or how I could fix it?

I really don't think there is just "some setting" that you need to change, to get this to work.
What does sound unusual to me, is that you say you are downloading the same product twice -- direct to the phone, and direct to your computer. The normal procedure would be to download it once, to either device, then do a "sync" between the computer and the iPhone to get the product installed onto both devices.

I downloaded my digital copy of Star Trek Into Darkness, but it's HD and I can't play it. I didn't see anything about whether I wanted HD or Standard. How do I get this changed?
Check the mute switch on the side above the volume rocker. If the red dot shows, the phone is muted. You'll still be able to play the ringtones to select one.
I find that the switch can be thrown to "mute" by accident when I put my iPhone in my belt holster.
