Star Wars Battlefront For e-Mac?

I recently played Star Wars Battlefront on a friend's PS2 and it was awesome! I recently became aware that is available for the Mac, but it requires a 64-bit processor. Being an e-Mac user, I believe all I have is a 32-bit. I would love to get this game, but am not going to buy a new computer for it. Has anyone played on an e-Mac? If so, any problems? Do I dare buy it? Thanks

David Dobesh,
If you check Aspyr's SWBF webpage, it gives the system requirements as # Operating System: Mac OS X 10.3.6 or later
# CPU Processor: PowerPC G4/G5 or later
# CPU Speed: 1GHz or faster
# Memory: 256 MB or higher (512 MB recommended)
# Hard Disk Space: 2.7 GB free disk space
# Video Card (ATI): Radeon 8500 or better
# Video Card (NVidia): GeForce4 MX or better
# Video Memory (VRam): 64 MB or higher
# Media Required: DVD DriveThe requiremnts aren't calling for a 64-bit processor but a 64MB video RAM board; all eMac models eMac have 32MB video RAM. You can probablly actually run the game, if you use the games preferences to set it on medium graphics rather than full graphics quality, and are willing to accept some glitches. Try Googling "Star Wars Battlefront eMac 32MB video" and look through some of the game reviews that turns up.

  • Star Wars Battlefront crashes at startup

Anyone else having trouble launching this? I get as far as a screen resolution adjust, and then the blackness comes. After that it just crashes out to Finder with a bug report window...

Below I've pasted an email response from Aspyr concerning STB on Intel Macs. My game used to work on my MBP, but since updating my computer, the game no longer works and 'crashes' at startup. Now I know why! Bummer. I've requested a refund, but I doubt I'll hear anything since they are working on a patch...
Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, at this time Star Wars
Battlefront is not supported on the new Intel Macs. We are currently
working to release Intel patches for many of our titles. Due to the nature
of development we do not have a time line for when the patches will be
released. Also we don't have any official word on Star Wars
Battlefront yet. Please keep an eye on our website or newsletter for patch
release information. While at one time Battlefront was working on Intel Macs
it has never been supported on the Intel Macs, the latest Apple OS
update rendered the game unplayable. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Star Wars Battlefront will launch Friday 20th November 2015
    Details
The game will run in 60fps, resolution hasnt been confirmed yet.
There wont be a campaign mode, but you can play smaller objective based missions single player or split screen/online coop
The biggest battle size currently is 40 player (20 vs 20)

There are currently more than 8 maps and more than 2 maps on each planet. There are 4 planets Hoth, Tattooine, Endor, and Sullust , so id say 12 maps?
You can take to the skies and engage in sky battles with Tie Fighters and X Wings, but not space battles.
The game is focused on the original trilogy so (new hope, empire strikes back, return of the jedi) that did remind me, hope they have the droids from the prequels i was a beast with droideka.
The weapons seem to have a cooling system in place instead of ammunation, so shoot for a while then let your weapon cool til you can shoot again!
The HUD is minimal showing your weapon/grenades/perk/heavy weapon
They didnt show the different Stormtrooper/rebel classes in the real gameplay demo
You can steal fallen players weapons
Killstreaks earn you powerful weapon upgrades
Yes, there will be plenty of things to unlock, achieve and collect. More on this will be revealed at a later date!

    Game Modes
Walker Assault - A 40 player match where the objective is for the rebels to take out a on rails AT-AT,  i assume the stormtroopers have to defend it until it reaches its destination.
You can preorder the game here - Standard Edition although you dont actually have to preorder, the game wont go out of stock you know also a deluxe version - Deluxe Edition
Here is the fantastic boxart -

Apparantly it will be released a short time before the new film with some teasers related to it in the campaign.Yeah youre probably right, just hope it works, its been like 10 years i think since battlefront 2!

  • I have been trying to find Star Wars: Battle for Hoth. Any suggestions?

I have been trying to find "Star Wars: Battle for Hoth" in both iTunes and in Apps. Any suggestions on where to find it? Is it even still available?

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Try the update again
Settings > General > Software Update
The update servers have been very busy so keep trying.

  • Macbook and Star wars battlefront I.....help

I just purchased a used macbook from ebay. It's a 1.83 MHz model, with 512 MB ram......The computer seems to run pretty smoothe but I just installed SWBF and can't even bare to play it. It runs sooooo choppy. It's Starwars Battle Front I, not the 2nd one. I even put all the video options in the game on medium and it still ran like crap. I couldnt even play it cause it was so laggy. Is there a problem with my macbook? Thanks for your help in advance.
    Macbook 1.83 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   512MB

There's not a problem with your MacBook. The bad performance is because of the integrated video card, which shares its memory with the RAM. If you max out your RAM, you will see much better performance in any game you play, but with only 512MB any game you play will be painful. S*cks, huh?

  • Star Wars Battlefront II won't install

Running the latest version of Bootcamp and windows XP. I can't install Starwars Battlefront II. The program freezes early during installlation. I've run a bunch of other PC games without problems including Age of Mythology, Command and Conquer etc...
The game does an anlysis of my machine and it passed all requirements.
Any suggestons of how to proceed or is this game just incopatible with the iMac
    and Bootcamp.

  • Leopard doesn't work with Lego Star Wars II and ATI graphics?

My son has an iBook G4, and has been running Lego Star Wars II just fine under the latest release of OS 10.4. He just installed Leopard, and now the Lego Star Wars game says that his graphics board isn't enough to run the game. Is there a patch for this? He has a PPC G4 1.42 GHz with 512 MB RAM, ATI Mobility 9550 graphics board with 32 MB RAM. We installed 10.5.1 patch to the OS.
    Any help?

Here are the minimum system requirements for Lego Star Wars II:
    System Requirements
Mac OS X v10.4 or later
    1.6GHz PowerPC or Intel processor
    512MB RAM
    64MB VRAM
    3GB free hard-disk space
    Mouse and keyboard
    DVD drive
As you can see, your son's computer doesn't meet these requirements.
I'm sure he'll be happy when you tell him you have to buy him a new computer to play the game!

  • Lego Star Wars on a MacBook Air

My son got the Lego Star Wars game for Mac and when I tried to download it to his Macbook Air I got the error "can't open app Lego Star Wars because Power PC Applications are no longer supported"  Any ideas? Can I get this to work?

I am able to drag photos from iPhoto to Contacts on my MacBook Air. I resize the iPhoto window to make it smaller, open Contacts, select the Contact in question and click the Edit button at the lower right of the contact. I then drag the photo from iPhoto.
The step that I'm guessing that you might be missing is clicking the Edit button at the lower right of the contact.

i bet your playing a burnt version?
if not check for updates on your game.  Usually those will fix issues related to Graphics cards,
Found this on lucasarts support page http://support.lucasarts.com/tsg/SWBFQuestions/Latest%20Updates/CrashDomesticVersion.htm. Maybe your're about that burnt version  . Maybe he have downloaded the Northern american version and plays it on a Windows version that are non english.

  • Cannot open Time Machine restore screen (Star Wars)

I've got a Late 2006 iMac (amongst others) running Lion 10.7.5 which I backup to a NAS drive and for some reason I can't get into the Star Wars restore screen to access the backed up files. When I select Enter Time Machine it connects to the NAS which is a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and sometimes it makes Finder the focus application but then nothing. The machine seems to backup just fine, no errors connects and disconnects to the NAS. I thought at first it may be the NAS or the backup set where the problem lay, but I even connected a USB drive to it, again it backs up but will not open Time Machine to restore anything. It is driving me mad all the other machine I have work just fine, and the problem is this one has some homework files for my which I need to recover.
    Thanks in advance.

Is that the one in several languages? If so, that's a *kernel panic.* They're usually hardware, but not always. Disconnect everything, except keyboard and mouse. Reconnect one at a time to see if you can find the culprit.
If that's no help, disconnect everything again and run the Apple Hardware Test, from the separate disc that came with your Mac. Instructions should be printed on it (in very tiny type).
If it passes that, you might want to download and run the Rember app, a free and much more extensive memory test: http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/
    more kernel panic info:

Several tries produced the same results. I then went to a different hard drive and opened applications for the problem hard drive.
You lost me there. What is the "different hard drive"? A clone? Of the same Mac?
Which is the "problem hard drive," the replaced internal?
It appears the restore brought back everything but almost all application icons are grayed out with a slash across them, not third party stuff either but iTunes, Safari, System Preferences, Mail etc. When clicking on them I get the pop up "You can't open the application ____ because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
This almost sounds like you got PPC stuff restored onto an Intel, or vice-versa.

  • "Star Wars" style scrolling title?

I am a new iMovie user (one week) and am getting frustrated already with the limited titles that seem to be provided. I am looking for two kinds of titles:
    1) A "Star Wars" style scrolling title to present a paragraph of text that bridges a narrative gap in my movie. I thought I could use the "credits" one, only to find out that iMovie automatically splits the text into two halves as though it were crediting people for roles in a movie. Argh! What I'm looking for is not exactly "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" where it disappears to a vanishing point at the top, but just something where a block of text can scroll smoothly up from the bottom and disappear up the top of the screen (if that makes sense).
    2) Also looking for a way to make "subtitles" that appear lower on the screen than the one provided with iMovie.
    Thanks!

...but just something where a block of text can
scroll smoothly up from the bottom and disappear up
the top of the screen (if that makes sense).
    Have you tried "Scrolling Block"?
    2) Also looking for a way to make "subtitles" that
appear lower on the screen than the one provided with
    iMovie.
Note that iMovie lets you adjust the vertical position of certain titles. As the title plays in the little preview window, move the mouse over the window. If the cursor changes to a cross the title is movable. Click on it to drag up or down.
    "Centered Title" is one.
Other titling options are built into your Mac. They include all the text options in TextEdit, which lets you make lots of cool text. You convert the text into an image and import it.
You can also use the Ken Burns Effect in iMovie to zoom/pan across images of text. You can create a block of text of any style or combinations of style, capture it as an image, and import the image using the Ken Burns effect to animate it however you like.
It's possible too, of course, to purchase third-party title plug-ins for iMovie.
