Starbucks wifi free music iTunes Store download fails

The Starbucks wifi home page offers free weekly music downloads through the iTunes store. I click on the 'free' icon and iTunes opens up, telling me it's ready to download the music. It then offers the familiar iTunes Store login (username and password). But, when I enter my password to download the song (and I know I am using the correct password) the download does not begin. The iTunes Store login widget appears again - I am  asked to re-enter my password. No matter how many times I type in my known, correct password, the cycle continues (rejection of my password and request to reenter it).
This has been happening (or, *not* happening) for some time now. I've reset my password and that did not fix the problem. I also 'authorized' my laptop and that did not solve the problem.
I'm stuck. I've sent an email to Starbucks technical help and they were unable to offer any constructive, illuminating answers for their end of this, but did say I should contact Apple for support.
Might someone know how to solve this?
Thank you/anyone for your help.
Glen

thanks for the help. I followed your advice, but the song is not listed in the purchased history. If i try to purchase the song again, itunes informs me that I have already purchased the song but have not downloaded it. Issue still not resolved

  • ITunes store download fail

I recently bought a few albums from the iTunes store but randomly 3 of the songs did not properly download and they can't be put onto my iPod as it says they cannot be converted.  Playing them on the laptop, they stop halfway through.  I don't know how to report this and get a solution or a refund, can anyone help?

This turned out to be an issue with Cablevision, my ISP.

First try using Spotlight Search to find Settings.  If that works go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Settings.  If you can't get to Settings:
    Try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work do a restore from backup or to factory settings:

  • Purchased videos from itunes store download/upload issues

I purchased movie from itunes store downloaded it onto my itouch works plays is fine --but when I tried to sync or drag the movie onto my windows computer into itunes or sync it with itunes cannot get the + sign only no go.  Getting frustrated--I bought this movie actually for my wife and then cannot get it onto her itouch since it will not transfer into itunes for me to get it moved/transferred onto her itouch.  Both itouch's are authorized on this computer.  I am confused--why buy the video if you cannot work with it on your devices?  Please help!

Did you check your trash can? Did you make a backup copy of your videos that you purchased? That is something that is always reminded to users that purchase from the itunes store...to make a backup copy to their purchased music. The idea is once you buy the music and you lose it well then its gone forever. I highly doubt you can get what you purchased from the itunes music store back again without purchasing them again. But that is weird that you had the videos and and their gone now. Have you tried searching for them on your computer harddrive? Did you do a recent hard reset to your ipod? Are you manually updating your ipod and deciding what to sync and not?

I recently downloaded iMovie on my iPhone 5 and it is telling me to connect to wifi or use itunes to download iMovie well I have done both and it is still not working can someone please help me?

    Hi troy157,
I'm sorry you are having issues with the iMovie app you purchased for your iPhone5.
The first thing I would suggest is to log out of your iTunes Account on your iPhone, turn the iPhone off and then on again, and see if app finishes downloading/updating.
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap on your Apple ID account > Tap Sign Out
If the issues persists, the article below will give you a few more troubleshooting steps:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
Try the following steps to resolve your issue, testing the app after each step.
    1. Update your device software
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    2. Check for app updates
Ensure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
When prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the application updates.
Note: Some applications may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.3. Install another app from the App Store
    4. Restart the application
If the issue affects only a single app, try closing just that app:
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Double-tap the Home button to display recent apps.
Tap and hold the affected app until the red minus appears.
Tap the red minus to quit the app.
Press the Home button, then restart the app.
    5. Restart your device
Hold the Sleep/Wake button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.6. Reinstall the affected application
Remove the application from your device and reinstall it.
Touch and hold any application icon on the Home Screen until the icons start to wiggle.
Tap the "x" in the corner of the application you want to delete.
Tap Delete to remove the application and all of its data from your device.
    Press the Home button.
    Go to the App Store.
Search for the application and then download it again.
Note: If it is a paid app, ensure you are using the iTunes account you purchased the app with originally. If it is not, you will be charged for the app again. For more information regarding downloading previously purchased items, see this article.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • ITune Store download stopped (err=8003, -3259, etc.)

Since upgrading to vers. 7 I have troubles downloading TV Shows (f.e. Prison Break Season1) for which I payed for.
The downloads are starting but stopped suddenly with above mentioned error messages. Very annoying also as some of the downloads pursue to about 95%, stop and are restarting from 0% again!
Are there any known problems with the server or can someone please explain possible troubleshooting?
    Thanks, Axel
PS: I might add that the Software Upgrade from QuickTime Pro 7.0.2 to 7.1.3 - for which I bought the upgrade - is also not working (although I doubt that has anything to do with the iTune Store Server)

On 25th I got the following mail from iTMS:
    1) Before proceeding, make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
Note: Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your Library or any items in your account that you haven't downloaded.
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) From the Store menu, choose "Advanced" and then "Deauthorize Audible Account" and then re-authorize it from the same drop-down menu.
    4) Enter your account name and password and click OK.
To start downloading your recent purchases, please follow these steps these steps:
Enter your account name and password when prompted, then click the Check button. Your purchase should begin downloading.
This article provides more information about resuming interrupted downloads:
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n93015
Once your purchases have downloaded, they will appear in your Purchased playlist as well as your iTunes library. However, you will need to authorize your computer again (1) to play your purchases. To authorize your computer, choose "Authorize Computer..." from the Store menu
    - I do not have an account with Audible
    - This did not solve the error messages and download problems I have.
    - (1) Why would one have to authorize the computer again as it has not been deauthorized?
Does anyone at ITMS knows what is going wrong?
PS: email "support" at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/ did not...

  • Please help me to clear my iTunes Store download queue., Please help me to clear my iTunes Store download queue.

Please help me to clear my iTunes Store download queue.

    Finally, I got it.
After spending most of Friday night on the issue, I found the following at ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3297
Obviously, some srewed up downloads have been sitting in the download folder and causing a) crashes at start-up (since itunes will try immediately to continue the download after start up) and b) avoiding anything else to be downloaded (seems to be a kind of "first come- first to be downloaded"-arrangement).
I found several "downloads"-folders using Spotlight. Most likely, because I moved the iTunes library to access it from my account as well as from the account of my wife (at the same computer). I deleted all those downloads-folders and ... voila .. suddenly the downloads continued. Funny, that there have been more conflicts in the queue of app 20 files to be downloaded. Means, I could download 5 and the problem came back. I repeated the procedure and could continue with the remaining 15 files.
After all, iTunes' download behaviour is back to normal. Songs, movies, apps, podcasts can be downloaded without any issue.

  • Sound quality from iTunes Store downloads

    Hi Mac Mavens,
I'm a pretty discerning listener and I'm wondering about the quality of the sound from iTunes Store downloads vis-a-vis a CD. If you play them side by side through a very good sound system would you be able to hear the difference? Any audiophiles out there who have made the comparison? What's your verdict?
    Thanks one and all,
    CZ1957

I, for one, can hear the difference between 256 Kbit AAC and uncompressed AIFF over my Imac's tiny speakers. Over a good sound system, the difference is not subtle.
Compressed audio is inferior to the original, and there's very little argument about that. It's my understanding that most people can hear the difference between lossy compression and uncompressed audio.
Upon hearing it, however, some people can live with the difference, while others can't.
There are two very good reasons why you might wish obtain your audio on physical CD's: 1) if you care about the artistic intent of the musician and you want to hear everything they created, that's only available on CD, and 2) you might not wish to be overcharged for an inferior product. The "iTunes Plus" compression throws away about 80% of the information in the original audio, yet the cost is about the same as a physical CD. Why anyone pays $10 for one fifth of the data on a CD, when all the data is available for about the same price, is beyond me.

  • Cannot Connect to iTunes Store - Download music from iCloud to iphone 4s

    Hi,
    Desperate for help.
I have the iTunes match service on my iPhone 4s. All of the songs in the cloud are showing as available to use but when I tap a song to play the song appears on the screen but not play. I have tried using my 3g and internet connection but to no available. When I try to download an individual song by tapping the iCloud logo button I get the message “Cannot Connect to iTunes”.
I am definitely signed in to iTunes on the phone. iTunes match is definitely switched on.
I have tried switching the phone off and on using regular and hard reset method. Every other aspect of the phone is working fine. I have even download a new song on iTunes successfully.
    Regards,
    Shaun

I am able to log into iTunes from my iPhone (i checked my account info)
But, I am unable to update any Apps through the App Store.  Everytime I try, it comes up with the error "Cannot connect to iTunes Store"
    And that's where I'm stuck.

  • Once again the iTunes Store is failing to let me download a podcast.

And to add insult to injury, when I went to the Report a concern area it also wouldn't complete the report. Actually that has never worked.  Is everything in the iTunes store broken except buying media?

You can authorise your account on the Mac's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer drop-down menu at the top of iTunes e.g. :
If you still have your PC then you could also copy the content over from that : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527

  • Stopping and restarting an iTunes store download

While on a business trip, my very expensive Garmin GPS bricked on me.  So, I'll have to send it back, and in the meantime, I thought it was a perfect time to get the Navigon app for my iPhone 4.  Of course, it's a 1.5GB download, and I'm doing this in a hotel room with a moderate speed of around 1.5Mbps, which a few years ago would have been fast, but today is slow.  Well, the download was going to take a few hours (8 to be precise).  Halfway through the download, I had to close up my MBP and go to a meeting.  Also the office probably had faster speeds, so I thought I could finish it there.  Of course, no, you have to start the download from the beginning.  Am I doing something wrong, or is this just one of the odd quirks for iTunes store that you have to tolerate?
The end of the story was I sat in my hotel room all day and let it run all night, and got it downloaded.  Of course, a week later Navigon pushes out a new update (grrrrrrr) while I was still on the road.  By that time I was in a hotel with a much better speed (though not fast), and got it done overnight.
The good news is that I don't need my Garmin any more.  My iPhone does it better.  Sold the Garmin.

I have this same problem. It all started over 4 months ago when I downloaded "Starship Troopers- Marauders" as part of a purchase of several items. All other items in that purchase (music and movies) downloaded fine. But I got error 8008 for Marauders. I went back and forth with iTunes for the next few months. They never figured out what the problem was or explained what caused it. It was resolved by a refund of the purchase. I recently tried again and got the same result. But now I have been getting more errors and have 3 more items which failed to download with error 100000. What is going on with iTunes??? All of my software is up to date and I have business class cable internet. I have a top line MacBook Pro with Leopard. I have been through the full progression of flowchart solutions from Apple Support. How can I fix or prevent this problem and what is causing it?

  • Itunes store downloads audio files in QuickTime format & no convert options

My wife's XP computer received audio files from ITunes store in Quick Time format. Can find no help in so-called "Help" files, right-click on downloaded song offer only "Convert to AAC". I've used Real Player to convert QT files to MP3 but this seems overly complicated. Any ideas?

    Thesbrian wrote:
Looks like I just had to change my preferences 3 or 4 times, and it finally shows the option to convert to MP3. I'll see how successful it is in converting while downloading. Thanks for the suggestions.
Also please note that if you are looking for MP3 files, it is easier to buy directly in MP3 format from an online music retailer who sells in MP3 format, such as the amazon.com MP3 download store.
MP3 format is compatible with iTunes/iPod and virtually every other player, program, and device.

  • ITunes Store Download Headache!

I have been trying to download ITunes Store on Windows 7.  Progresses well when I start to download ITunes, but stops when ITunes Store is about to download.  Message reads, "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • How do I delete Movies and TV Shows in my iTunes Store download Queue?

    Please help...
I have Apple TV and I purchase TV shows and Movies via iTunes Store. These programs and movies have successfully downloaded to my Apple TV and I have watched them and deleted them off the Apple TV Hard Drive.
    My problem:
I do not have much free Hard Drive space on the older laptop that I currently have iTunes running on. Everytime I open iTunes on my laptop it starts downloading the very large movie and TV show files and I do not have enough hard drive space for them and I do not want them now that I have alredy watched them.
    My questions:
    1. Can you delete everything that is currently in my iTunes Store downlonad queue so these programs and movies will not try and download? If so, how?...
    2. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening in the future?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

iTunes will not show me where the files reside (by right-clicking and selecting "show file" because the option doesn't exist for TV shows.
I don't understand, it does exist for tv shows.
Also, using the "delete" commend does nothing!
How are you using the delete command if you can't locate the file.
I have several shows taking up several gigabytes of disk space, and I can't locate them on my hard drive, or remove them from within iTunes!
    Have you tried spotlight.
