Starling and Flash CS5.5

This question weighs more on the side of flash as I'm trying to get this to work with Flash CS 5.5. and installed the updated extenstion so flash can publish in the version 11 player. I have all libraries and files referenced correctly, however when I play in the browser, Internet explorer 8 with flash player 11.6, nothing shows up. I have done some research which all points to the fact that it should work. I also get a compiler error:
RenderSupport.as, Line 421 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Program3D.
upon further research I was told to disreguard this error and play in the web browser as you were not able to play within flash due to the internal player being an outdated version. If there is anyone here who has experience in dealing with starling and flash, and possible reasons why it may not be appearing correctly?
NOTE: I have built the same project in FlashBuilder 4.7 and works fine. Just having issue converting over to Flash. I have checked and saw that it is possible to do this with Flash, its just something im missing.

You will have a better chance to find a solution on the starling forums
From what you tell it could be either of two probems:
1. Your project uses flex-only classes (that are not available in flash)
2.You have missed sth. when upgrading flash cs 5.5 for fp11-Publishing (installing the extension is not enough)

Do you mean After Effects? AFAIK, the file formats that After Effects outputs wouldn't support ActionScript.

Adobe CS4 Creative Suite Web Edition and Flash CS5 Crashing Problems

Hi, just a simple question;
I have a Windows XP Pro x64 & x86 Machine which both have Adobe Creative Suite CS4 and Adobe Flash CS5 installed onto.
The problem i have is that when i install Flash CS5 onto the machine which already has Adobe Creative Suite CS4 is breaks basically, Flash CS5 keeps crashing, even if just creating something simple like a box with colour in it.
I have installed every update available for both products and this still does not rectify the problem. Ive read numerous articles about fonts, hotfixes, updates etc etc etc.
None of the forums has an asnwer to this. I would post an error report but as the machines crash im unable to gather this information.
This is a big problem for us as we use this in industry and we need to resolve this asap, no point paying for products if they cant work together, my theory is something to do with shared libraries which both products use, i could be wrong, but this is what im left to think is wrong.
Has anyone else had this same problem, if so, whats the answer to rectify this.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using CS3/CS4/CS5 and a standalone After effects CS5.5 here side by side without issues - on Vista 64. Can't tell you much specific about Flash, though, since I use it too rarely. Bridge may have a temper, but most of these "issues" relate to Mini-Bridge in Photoshop CS5, which nobody forces you to use and people being unhappy with thinbgs like contact sheets or PDF catalogs having moved to Bridge ratehr than still being PS scripts. So from where I stand, these are non-issues. Of course you'll have to live with the fact that things like browsing in Bridge or editing originals are always wired in such a way as to use the latest version of a suite, which might cause compatibility issues when e.g. trying to invoke Bridge in CS4 to browse something, which will then launch Bridge CS5. None of this is unresolvable, though, and mostly requires editing Bridge prefs and your system's fiel association handling... With regards to your otehr issues, I realyl recommend you give Process Explorer a spin. if this happens even on fresh system installs, the most likely cause is some missing DLL, which you also can only find out this way. A blindfire approach to this problem would be to simply install any .NET and MSVC runtime you can get a hold of and similar stuff, but this might only add unnecessary files and still miss the one that you would need...

I am wondering how to create a drop down menu using the Code Snippets and CS5?
There are some older tutorials out there and it would be nice if someone could create an updated drop down menu tutorial, and it might be me doing this after I have figured out the best and easiest way to create one, but before that I need some pointers.

You can use panel widget to create manual menu where set to show target on rollover.

Interaction between InDesign and Flash CS5

To all the InDesign/Flash users: I have a question for you...
I've been asked something by a client: He would like to add a Google Analytics on a Flash file to track users. He cannot do it in the HTML ('cause he only creates the .swf file and doesn't have access to the HTML file), so he needs to do it in the .fla file. He has found the ActionScript code to do so, but there's a problem...
From InDesign, he needs to export as .swf, because he wants to have the Page Curl effect (and I think some other features also) that he looses if he exports to .fla.
The .swf alone works well. But as soon as we try to import it in Flash (in another .fla), it looses all it's attributes/codes and just import the layout (that keeps moving from page to page)...
If I open it in a decompiler (SWF Decompiler), it shows me there is some ActionScript code, but even then, if I decompile it and export it as a .fla, when I open I loose all the interactions (like the imported .swf).
It's the first time I see something like that. What does InDesign do to the .swf file? How can we solve that problem?
Any help will be welcomed (I'm not a InDesign user...).

Turn off the editable text option when importing the PSD into Flash to convert them to images. If keeping the text editable is important then you will have to re-create the look using Flash's life effects. It's a completely different thing from PS...

Photoshop CS5 and Flash CS5.5 will not uninstall from my PC. I tried using the cleaner tool and it will still not uninstall. Please Help.

I got these programs from a school program but the uninstaller is not available and the Cleaner tool will not work. Any suggestions?

I have just now tried the Reinstall via iTunes, about 20 into the download, the iTunes logo on the phone disappeared, and the Apple Logo appeared again,,, I waited until the iTunes stated that the download had finished, and the install was in progress,,,

Working between Photoshop and Flash CS5

I have completed a markup design for a website home page in layers using Photoshop. I now would like to import some of its elements into Flash to experiment with animating them. The problem that I am having is that for text layers only the basic elements seem to be imported. In other words, none of the text effects (e.g. drop shadow, beveling) into Flash. I also am experiencing the same thing with a simple shape that I have added some fx to. I want to be clear that I am not trying to import the effects separately. I just want the text to look the same way in Flash as it does in Photoshop. Can anyone offer me a suggestion as to how to import PSD files into Flash with all of the effects?

I have FB4 and Flash Pro CS5 installed and get the message "This feature requires Adobe Flash CS5"

Hi,
I have installed both FB4 and Flash CS5 as trial versions. I installed FB4 as a plugin into eclipse Gallileo and then installed CS5. When trying to create a new Flash Project in Eclipse I get the message "This feature requires Adobe Flash CS5 or higher to be installed.", although CS5 is installed.
I tried reinstalling FB4 but it didn't help.
If FB4 is installed as standalone, then its eclipse IDE has no problem creating new Flash Projects.
Any idea why the plugin doesn't detect my Flash Pro CS5 installation?

Flash cs5 and cs3 crash on publish, export, copy frames etc.

Well hi, welcome to my nightmare
i've been working for a loooongg hugeeee time on an animation, it probably lasts over 20m, has tons of music, movieclips and videos. It's divided into 5 or 6 scenes don't remember exactly. The fla weighs about 550mb (im not using everything in the library anyway, i guess i could trim out a lot) and i CANNOT PUBLISH. im about to go absolutely nuts. If i publish, "Flash stopped responding", hi desktop! I'm running windows 7 x64 ultimate, have a quad-core q6600 4GB RAM DDR2 @667MHz, and a nvidia gtx260, which probably doesn't matter.
Okay, when i started to create the animation everything went smooth, as the fla got heavier and the animation more complex, i started to notice problems like "not enough memory to complete operation" and random crashes. I believe most of it has to do with flash having a poor memory management.
Anyway, the thing is that i cannot publish at all. I tried breaking the animation down to 4 files, so as to make lighter files and maybe get it to publish separately, but in the 4th scene, which has an embedded movie in it, i find it impossible to copy the frames to paste them into a new file. I copy the frames, and flash cs3 just stays there, stuck and not going anywhere, i have to kill the process in order to get out, and flash cs5 doesn't copy the frames at all, it loads for some time and then if i right click, the paste frames option is in grey, like unavailable.
So i'm stuck, i have all there and can't do anything with it!!!. I tried rendering the test scene for each scene but the same 4th scene has a problem! life hates me! the tweens inside the movie clips won't play on the swf... so i cant render test scenes to get separate swfs.
If anyone has any idea, they'd be my hero!!! please i really need to publish this, it was a whole lot of work and im surely not just leaving the fla in my hard drive to fall into oblivion, not a chance

Recommended CP5 - Flash CS5 Workflow?

Hi all,
I'm wondering what the best workflow is for projects using CP5 and Flash CS5. Is it better to embed Flash within a larger CP project? How well does embedding CP .swfs into a Flash project work? What are the gotchas associated with working either way? I'm using AS3 and current versions of CP and Flash on a Mac.
FYI, here's specifically what I'm trying to do: the e-learning course opens to an interface with multiple buttons (images with down/up states, animations, etc.); the main interface is essentially a simulation of a process (i.e., not a software simulation) so it also includes text fields, sliders, listboxes and other interface elements. There are also Help and Hint buttons that need to display content (currently I'm thinking these will open in a new window sitting within the larger interface (kind of like how the Flash stage is a smaller window within the larger Flash IDE), or they could overlay the entire screen).
I think the larger interface/process simulation lends itself better to Flash, so I would prefer to use Flash for this and then import CP questions and content into the Flash file. CP content just needs to play, but the quiz questions need to be able to record scores out to the LMS and I also need access to quiz results in the Flash file. I'm concerned that LMS reporting won't work properly because my CP files will just be individual quizzes and not part of a larger CP "course."
Is it possible in this scenario to build the entire project in CP with these project requirements? Would I be able to import Flash animation/AS3 programming .swfs into CP, place these at specified screen locations and then pass values back to CP for processing?
I'd also like to be able to show the Top 10 scores on the process simulation. Surely CP doesn't have the capability to show this kind of thing does it?
For all of these reasons, I'm wondering if it would be preferable to create a CP project, and just load the Flash process simulation full screen within that CP project as, essentially, a standalone .swf? If I were to do this, I still need full Flash capability, including reading/processing XML, database access for Top 10 scores, etc... What issues are there with this approach where the Flash .swf is essentially a child .swf of the CP project? In particular, what are the gotchas?
Any thoughts/best practices you may have on how best to architect the structure for this type of project are surely welcomed!

Any widget can offer an interface that allows its customization. If your animation should vary based on developer's choices, then you put these choices in the widget interface. If you want to see for yourself, just insert any widget on the stage (from the widget panel) and double click on it. It will open the widget interface.
However, from what I understand, you animation does not need to be customized so it's not mandatory to build it in a widget. Make it a widget only if you need to present customization options.

Windows 7 and Flash CS3 / CS4

I run Windows 7, clean install with Flash Professional CS4 (also CS3). But both are working so extremely slow it's just not usable. So I tried both running from within the Virtual PC XP Mode and both are as fast as they were in XP.
I tried to run both in compatibility mode but it doesn't help. Only way seems to run it in a Virtual PC/XP Mode. If I do run it in Windows 7 it's simply so unresponsive.. if you click it takes 20 seconds to wake up the program and react to what you clicked at. I know many more have the same problems but I didn't see any solution. Can't imagine Adobe ain't aware of this huge problem.
Hope someone has some helpfull tips.

Problem is not in your windows 7 OS, since i was working CS4 and now i m working with CS5 in windows 7 only. And i feel more comfort with this new OS. May be you hardware configuration might not be support to new technology like windows 7 and Flash CS5. Beca it is need high hardward configuration

Flash CS5 Crashing Multiple Times Daily

Over the last few years most of my workload has been UI development & programming. I'm currently on a timeline based animation project and Flash CS5 is now crashing upwards of a dozen times daily.
I'm on OSX latest.
I've installed Flash CS5 latest.

If your iPad is restarting unexpectedly after upgrading to iOS 7, I'd suggest backing up and restoring it. See this article for the steps:

Flash CS5 not Publishing Files

I made a simple flash animation and can preview it. I save it as a .fla file and publish it as the defult settings and can no longer preivew it nor does the .swf or .html files show up in the folder i saved the .fla file to. Also, when i search for the .swf file in my start menu it finds it, identfies that it is in the folder it should be in, but will not open.
I'm running Window 7.

Please............I need this resolved???
I have now completely reinstalled the CS5 Mastersuite and Flash CS5 is still showing the above error.

Flash CS5 location conflict with dreamweaver

upon instaling flash CS5 is not allowing me to save changes i made on dreamweaver. there is this msg saying it will stop my dreamweaver communicating from a remote location and when i click on settings, it does nothing. it stop me from updating my website. did some reasearch, many place suggest to go on to the adobe website storage settings panel. not sure how to use it but it seems like i have to entrust every single page of my website to the list as a trusted site in order for it to work. and i test it on one page and it didnt seems do anything.

My two A's '(Apple and Flash CS5) stopped struggling. It had nothing to do with Indesign... it was just a problem of permissions. Why it happened I do not know. The only constatation I dare to make is... Guys from Adobe... you put the right diagnosis... thank you,thank you very much....

Flash CS5 not exporting AVI

I never had this problem with Macromedia Flash MX, but now that i've installed Adobe CS5 Production Suite neither Flash CS5 or Flash MX export even simple animation to AVI. Just large unplayable files. Or in a couple instances, the files are messed up - the bottom corner appears on the left hand side etc.
In the past I have exported animated sequences as AVI of up to 4 minutes in length from one single run of frames and inbetweens without an issue.
I am running Windows 7. My tower specs should not be the issue. Why aren't my AVIs exporting?
