Stars as amount

Hi Guys,
I am printing out an aging report, and for one of my creditors the opening balance amount is showing as stars i.e. ******
All other vendors show properly.
The database and SAP was recently upgraded from SAP 2005 to SAP 8.81
It was showing properly before the upgrade was done.
Any ideas?

Hi Dario,
In general, those stars (******) means multiple entries with different currencies. There is no way for B1 to display. Check OJDT and JDT1 tables to find out detail JE.

Cenvat base amount different from GR base amount

This question is related to Indian taxes (CIN).
Scenerio is given below :
We made PO with base price as 100 & did GR on 20/06/07. GR picked base amount as 100 . PO price changed on 21/06/07 to 105. Excise captured with J1IEX on 22/06/07. J1IEx base amount is 105, rather than 100.
While doing IR against GR, base amount is 100.
My problem is while IR is taking GR price , why J1IEX is considering current price as 105 rather than 100.
Is std. SAP. Is it correct. As per me it is not correct. Pls. cooment & give solution if any one knows.

You will have to change the value in PO from 100 to 105, as the value 100 is being picked from PO & not GR. This is standard functionality.

Most unusual. I think you will need to wait a few days in case it is a bank problem.
If this situation continues you should contact Apple, after all, you don't want to be thought of as taking advantage, I'm sure. That's why you raised it in the first place.

Performance tuning - Is database using Star Transformation?

Reports running slow, not sure if database is using Start transformation for the Datawarehouse Database.
Used hint */+ STAR_TRANSFORMATION */, still no performance increase.
Checked database parameter -
SQL> show parameter star;

If star transformation was not the cause of the slowness, of course it won't make it faster.
I bet you any number of other different hints will result in no change in performance.
This is like replacing gas tank on your car with a LARGER tank & filling it with more gasoline to make the car go faster.
The amount of gasoline is not a factor that limits the speed of your car.

Aggregate amount - Content tab

In my repository, I have 2 stars schemas joined by a common dimension.
Fact1 <- Dim_F1
Dim_Common
Fact2 <- Dim_F2
Everything is OK concerning the filling of the content tabs for logical table source and for the aggregate amount according to the dimension hierarchies for Dim_F1, Dim_F2 and Dim_Common. So, when I query :
Dim_F1.val1, Fact1.amount_sum2, Dim_Common.val2, Fact2.amount_sum2, Dim_F2.val3
the result is coherent.
But if I only query
Dim_F2.val3, Fact2.amount_sum2
or only Fact2.amount_sum2
the result is aggregated according to the content tab of the logical column Fact2.amount_sum2.
So instead having only one amount, I have many lines as OBIEE execute :
select c3 from (
select id_common c1, id_dim_F2 c2, sum(amount_sum2) c3
from ...
where ...
group by id_common, id_dim_F2)
Is this mean, that I have to create 2 amount_sum in my Fact2 table ? One to use when I want to see the Fact2.amount with the Fact1.amount and another one when I only take fields from the star schema in which Fact2 is ?
I'm completely lost and I really would like to understand this point so if my post is not clear don't hesitate to tell me.
Another point, is there a mean to fill the content tabs of a logical columns automatically according to the content tab of a logical table source ?

Error ME 760 for condition amount change

Hi experts,
I am facing a strange problem.When I change the condition amount for PO in Item ---> Conditions. It is triggering the IDOC but returning an error message ''No IDoc items belonging to purchasing document found' in the Messages.
What may be the reason..I have done all configurations.Don't know what problem this is...
Experts help me on this.

Adding two more Star Trails in movie clip

Hi All,
I bought a flash file the other day which i plan to modify and use for an intro to a project i am working on. Currently there is one instance of a Star which follows a path and emits "sparkles" while tracing the path. I would like to add two more stars/ paths. I tried modifying some of the code, and am working through it, but wanted to know if anyone could help me out a bit.

When SAP BW Star Schema has so many advantages as compared to Classic Star Schema, is the Classic Star Schema being used in any of the products?

Now Classic Star Schema is not used.
In a Star schema, one dimension represents one table. These dimension tables surround the fact table,which contains the facts (key figures), and are linked to that fact table via unique keys, one per dimension table. Each dimension key uniquely identifies a row in the associated dimension table. Together these
dimension keys uniquely identify a specific row in the fact table.

The key elements of a Star schema are:<b>advantages as compared to Classic Star Schema</b>
Central fact table with dimension tables shooting off from it
Fact tables typically store atomic and aggregate transaction information, such as quantitative
amounts of goods sold. They are called facts.
Facts are numeric values of a normally additive nature.
Fact tables contain foreign keys to the most atomic dimension attribute of each dimension table.
Foreign keys tie the fact table rows to specific rows in each of the associated dimension tables.
The points of the star are dimension tables.
Dimension tables store both attributes about the data stored in the fact table and textual data.
Dimension tables are de-normalized.
The most atomic dimension attributes in the dimensions define the granularity of the information,
i.e. the number of records in the fact table.

Need help with an extended star schema.

I have the following data in spreadsheet form and I need to transpose this into an extended star schema in order to prdouce my characteristics and key figures, however I'm having a little trouble understanding where to include the Product Group in the star schema and also what to do with the Sales Doc (Invoice Number) in the sales information spreadsheet.
I need to summarise the data into the following also:
1.     Total quantity and revenue for each Channel and product group
2.     Total quantity and revenue for each Channel and product group (July 2009 to September 2009)
3.      Total Quantity and Revenue for iphone sales
So my question in short is what would the star schema look like? I'm hoping somebody can help me over this hurdle.

Star Schema Model:

Potentially the issue may be the combination of actual distance and the presence of any Wi-Fi interference at the location of the AirPort Express that may be the culprit here. The bottom line is you would want the Express to be within a 25+ dB range of the Extreme to be sure that it can consistently stay connected to it.

Design help - incorporating Budget information into star schema

I currently have a star schema.
At the fact level the data is broken down to be as grannular as possible, one row per order line Item with the line price being the main measure.
There is a DimDate
The DimProduct Dimension has ProductCode & Product Category ( I may break this up into two dimensions)
I have now been given a budget that contains Monthly and annual estimates of each test category and expected sales and sale prices, and asked to produce a report that:
On a monthly basis, shows if the actual sales match up with estimates in budget, and if not, lists if its due to insufficient quantity sold, discounted pricing or a combo of the two.
Im not sure how to implement this budget data. Should i:
Create a Budget Dimension that has a row for each month of the budget that contains the estimates?
Should this be imported directly into the fact table without a budget dimension?
Create a seperate new fact table that is a Periodic Snapshot . Would contain One row for each test category per month, with measures for expected and actual amounts.
Any advice on the best way of adding a budget to my model would be appreciated.

I think what you can do is this
Populate budget info by reducing to day level granularity ie while putting in fact table make date as first day of the month ie datekey corresponding to start of the month from DimDate
This will you can use the existing DimDate itself for relating within the cube
While analysing because you analyze it at month level it will work fine
ie for actuals it will aggregate every transaction (sales) from day level to month and compare it with month level budget (single entry at start of the month)
so you'll get % attained and you can find reasons for that from other sales attributes like discounts etc

Newbie question : why is star schema fast and efficient?

Hi all,
just a stupid question, but I haven't been able to find a proper
answer so far...
Why is star schema a good design for Data Marts and DWH?
What is the underlying reason that makes it attractive
performance wise?
Why wouldn't just one big table with all the data in it and with
the proper indexes be enough?

There are several reasons to use star schemas, particularly in
Oracle.
A flat table like you asked about looks attractive but has
several flaws, i.e. massive data redundancy, no logical
groupings, no aggregation (or additional redundant data
aggregated), etc.
A start schema is semi-denormalized to allow easy reporting. A
truely normalized system is diffucult to report against be cause
you may have to join many tables to return just 2 pieces of
related data. A star schema enables you to join to only a single
dimension table to the fact table to return the same 2 pieces of
data. If you're returning many pieces of data, a star schema
keeps access very simple. Most third party reporting tools
recognize star schemas and will build your where clauses behind
the scenes making them a lot more useful to end users.
Oracle is adding optimizations to the cbo for start schemas.
Using dimensions, materialized views, partitions, IOTs, etc
greatly enhances performance for queries against massive amounts
of data. It does make loading the data more difficult but the
trade off at query time is worth it.
A flat table structure, besides having a lot of redundant data,
is hard to optimize. When you have terebytes of data, a flat
table structure gets scary even with indexes.
This is just my opinion, hope that helps.

Sort emails by 'Starred' etc

Since the recent email 'up'grade I can no longer sort emails by eg Starred. If I select this function via square icon towards top left of page all starred emails are highlighted. But they are not grouped together at the top of the folder as previously. Anyone know how to get back to the old system?
[Although I have now resolved some of the other problems arising from the usual chaos following a so called upgrade I have lost a significant amount of time doing so. I can not believe this is necessary. Why fix something that is not broken? Why not test before roll out? Surely these are not difficult concepts.]

I don't think you can do that in the Apple app, but maybe if you open up safari & log into whatever mail server (AOL, Yahoo, etc) and you can do it from there.
