Start at top of column

I want to format a style to start at the top of the column. Paragraphs can be set to start at the top of a page. But what if you have a two column layout and you want a paragraph style that always is at the top of a column?

Hello MtnBiker,
you have to insert a column break after the last paragraph you want to have in a column, so the next paragraph will start at the top of the next column. But for this you have to deactivate the option "Paragraph starts at new page", or this will not work. You can't store this with a style, you have to insert the column break every time you want to start at a columns top.
But you can use a shortcut when you define one in the system preferences:
1) Click on the panel "Keyboard & Mouse" and there right tab button "Keyboard Shortcuts".
2) Press the "+" key and choose the application "Pages" from the pop-up menu. (If it's not listed, choose the last entry "Other..." and select it from "Applications/iWork").
3) Type the exact menu title "Column Break" in the text field.
4) Activate the field "Keyboard Shortcut" and press the key combo you want to use.

Start time/end time columns in the weekly overview of CATS regular

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to have the start and end time columns in parallel of the duration column in CATS regular (iView "record working times" in ESS) in the weekly view. Those columns are available in the daily view but we want them in the weekly view. This is possible on the backend but the question remains for the ESS.

Start position of 2nd column in GridLayout

I have a gridlayout with 2 columns. Within the Gridlayout I have two transparent containers. The view is split nicely into 2 columns, but I want the second column to start halfway across the view (regardless of what is in column 1). Can I set a starting point for each column.

         since you dont have a scrolling option... it happens like that....
          what you can do is......
           in your first column have an empty container and give the width and enable scrolling for it.... then insert the field inside it.
            the same for the second column too.
    it will work.

When using letter DIN5008-A how can i start on top of page 2?

i use the draft letter DIN5008-A which comes with pages. On page 1 there is space for the adress of the recipient and so on.
on page to the pages starts 8 cm deeper because it has the same format like page one.
i would like to start on top page page 2. how i set this up?

Hi Peter,
set the margin to the top for all pages and on the first page use an empty Textbox or transparent Shape with Textwrap to push the starting text down.

Unerwartetes Erscheinen des Front Panel eines SubVI beim Start der Top-Level-Application

Beim Starten meiner Top-Level-Application erscheint sofort das Front Panel eines Dialog-SubVI, welches eigentlich über die entsprechende Menüauswahl angewählt werden soll. Das passiert nur, wenn sich das SubVI im Speicher befindet. Das unerwünscht erschienene Front Panel zeigt dabei nicht die normale Fuktionalität, lediglich das Schliessen des Fensters ist möglich. Dabei verschwindet das VI jedoch komplett aus dem Speicher (sowohl Front Panel als auch Block Diagram). Danach lässt sich der Menüpunkt anwählen und der Dialog läuft normal.
Befindet sich das SubVI beim Start der Top-Level-Application nicht im Speicher, läuft alles normal.

Es könte sein, dass die Eigenschaften für das Sub-VI auf "Öffnen wenn geladen" oder was ähnliches gesetzt ist.
Schau nach, ob die ganze "Fenstererscheinungsbild" Eigenschaften wie gewöhnt eingestellt sind. Zu beachten ist auch, dass die Sub-VIs individuell im Block Diagram andere Eigenschaften zugeweisen werden können (Rechtsklick auf der Icon im Block diagram)...
Ich hoffe, dass ich damit ein wenig helfen könnte

Unwanted spaces at top of columns using Dreamweaver 4

In working on a homepage I manage with one wide and one narrow column, chunks of space intrude themselves at the top of either or both columns. I try adding and deleting spaces at the bottom. I also use modify-table-clear cell heights.
Any idea what's going on?

Prevent Blank Lines at Top of Column

So I create bi-weekly publications and I had a question that would make my job easer.
I've been messing with widow & orphans, but I have a slightly different problem.
We use hard returns between paragraphs (a blank line between paragraphs), and I was wondering if there was a way to use GREP or something to automatically prevent blank lines from showing at the top of a column.
Right now, I have to delete & re-add returns throughout the editing process, which as you could guess, can get messy and easy to miss.
I'd like to have it where I don't have to do any of that on my own, so the blank lines would "hide" automatically if at the top of a column, but would return if things get shifted around.
Thoughts?

Start with more rows/columns in Numbers?

How can I have the blank numbers template automatically start with more rows and columns? Currently for a new document, it defaults to 22 rows and 9 columns. I would like to start each document with more of each.

Open the blank inbuilt template, add rows and columns to suit, then Save As Template. That will appear under My Templates in the Template Chooser. To automatically start with that custom template,
Numbers > Preferences > General > for New Documents
BTW, if you have that preference set, File > New (command n) will also open that custom template.
Also, New From Template Chooser will disappear from the File Menu. To use Template Chooser, hold down the option key when accessing the File Menu.

Graduated Filter always starts at top/bottom of frame LR 2.1 final

My understanding is that a Graduated Filter effect should start where you initially click in the frame, and continue down/up until you've stopped dragging. If I'm dragging down, the filter always starts at the top of the frame (NOT where I initially clicked). Dragging up, it always starts at the bottom. Am I missing something here?

Don: say I've clicked at the mid-point of the frame and dragged down. I can indeed adjust the resulting LOWER bar with the results I expect (I can raise/lower the point at which the filter effect stops). And, as I lower/raise the upper bar, the effect (lower exposure, in this case) BETWEEN the bars behaves as expected.
BUT, the section of the frame between the upper bar and the top of the frame (which should not be affected at all) remains "maximally affected", i.e., exposure in the entire section has been lowered (as it was from the initial application of the filter).
Maybe this is a bug, since Jao gets the expected results?

Paragraph Rules - Showing at top of Columns

We are wanting to change from Quark to Indesign. In Quark, the "rule above" will not show when the text is at the top of a column. With Indesign. using the same styles and text, etc., the rule above shows up above the text outside the text box and I don't want it there in this particular instant. I just want the rule to show within the rest of the text. Not at the top of the column.
Any thoughts?
Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Notice the rule is outside the text frame. We don't want these to show up. The alternative is to place a white box on top of the text frame to cover these rules. Don't really like that idea. We need this to work similar to Quark.

Ideally it should be an option to either show it or not...

Rendering menu video asset: not starting at top level

When I start to burn a DVD on iDVD6.03, the rendering does not start at the top menu - it picks any sub-menu.
I removed iDVD incl. all files and reinstalled it - no change. Any advice ?

I had the same problem. I've more or less convinced myself that if you use a video for the autostart that is also in one of your sub-menus, then the burned DVD will mistakenly "return" to that sub-menu after it plays the auto-start.
This is a bug.
This is not 100% reproducible, so I'm not sure what magic makes it not happen. It almost always happens.
Workaround is to make a copy of the video outside iDVD and include it twice, so that they look distinct to iDVD. Fine for shorts I suppose.
iDVD 6.0.3 with the Lines theme.
Preview exhibits the correct behavior, so it must be some problem with laying out the menu navigation during mastering.

How do I get next page to start at top?

When viewing a discussion (if that's the correct term), scroll down to the bottom, click on the next page, the new page loads with the bottom showing instead of returning to the top, forcing me to scroll up to continue perusing the discussion. This needs fixing

The project files are correct, But still not clear on the start margin problem that you are facing.
I changed the bg color of stage to red and seems like things look correct ( screenshot. ).
Also at frame ( 00:04.500 ), the keyframe has a value of 296px, would making it 300px help ?

How to connect start date of shape to start date from Excel column?

I tried to create Visio report with timeline
Created connections and add external data.
Dragged projects to the main screen
But, start/finish date do not connect to the project data.
What should I check or correct?

The shape uses a custom property for the start and end date/time (controlled by the add-in).
Since you cannot have duplicate names for fields within the shape your spreadsheet's column name will have to be different than the solution name when it is read and linked. You might check David Parker's site for a possible solution.

Make text box text start at top of box, not centered vertically

It seems all my text boxes i have start the text in the center of the box vertically, then spaces it out as you type more. is there a way to make it start at the top of the box and work down, just as if you were typing in Word or Notepad. if someone only types a few lines, it looks kinda odd having the text in the middle of the box with all that white space above and below it.

You can set the vertical alignment of the caption and value (and both) for an object in the Paragraph tab - works just like Word.

Front panel of a vi pops up when i start my top level vi how can i stop this

i have a vi that whos front panel should display when the user clicks a front panel button(test instructions),
however this vi pops up when i run the top level vi. I can manually close the vi, but how do i stop this?
i tried modifying the Sub VI Set up properties, but that doesnt work.

Hi jknapp,
As egraham has pointed out, you can customize the window appearance of your sub VI from the VI Properties. If you go to File » VI Properties, then under Category select Window Appearance and then Customize..., you should be able to control how the sub VI appears. Hope this helps!
