Start boot problem on Qosmio F60-124

Hi, so I have a Toshiba Qosmio F60-124.
Yesterday, I was working on my projects (sony vegas & adobe etc) and it was very slow. I thought strange cuz that pc is very fast. I opened my sony vegas window and it wasnt anwser, so I tried to close it but it didnt work.
So I pressed the start button to switch off the pc.
When I pressed again to switch ON appeared a black screen with this:
Realtek .....
Insert system disk in drive.
press any key when it ready..
What can I do? I do not have any disk
Please help me

Hi joaonunes,
Can you access the advanced boot menu of Windows?
>I do not have any disk
Why not? This would mean you didnt read the user manual because its mentioned that you have to create the Toshiba recovery disk yourself. Using this disk you can restore factory settings (out of box) everytime.
Anyway, now its too late but check the BIOS as as*** wrote.

  • Re: Qosmio F60-100 Blue-ray doesn't start movie or even menu

    Hey guys !
My Toshiba Qosmio F60-100 works perfectly. There's just the blu ray drive that causes problems, because each time I put a Blu ray in, it starts the "Win DVDBD" program but never starts to play the movie or even the menu.
I just don't know how I can solve this problem.
I have already tried with the famous update but when I try to install it, i get a message telling me that the update isn't for my computer.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Volki

Yeah I've tried several BDs. It's really strange because sometimes it worked, but after I restarted it two or three times. Now It's the fourth Disk that makes reading problems. Now, I remember. I got to solve the problem once, because I registrated for win dvdbd. It worked .. until I shutted down my laptop. Now it's the same as before.

  • Qosmio F60 - hibernation freezing and start up issues

    Hi...
Problems began when my computer goes into hibernation mode and when i press the power button to start up again, it remains frozen.
I then have to hold down the power button to turn it off and on again.
Option comes up to start normally or safe mode.
Either way comp freezes in the middle of loading and I have to hold the power button down to turn comp off
Upon restart new msg saying there was a problem in start up and asks if I want to fix the problem
I click yes and a number of things have happened on different occasions:
    1) computer fixes itself and loads normally
    2) computer says it can't fix the problem and continues to load properly
    3) computer freezes in the middles of loading or during the fixing process
    4) computer fixes and restarts but freezes in the middle of reloading
i often have to go through this half a dozen times before i can load up normally
incidentally my norton antivirus has been coming up with msgs saying i need to reactivate it (my subscription has not run out) or an erro has occured
have done a full virus scan- none found
is this a virus problem? do i need to do a system recovery? any other advice?
    help much appreciated

    Hello
Have you already tried updating the BIOS as Akuma and Xardas suggested? I had a similar problem on my Qosmio F60 that battery wasnt always detected properly. So I checked the forum and tried updating the BIOS from official Toshiba website. This has worked!!! Newest BIOS version has improved the battery control so I had no problems with hibernation anymore.
But before you update the BIOS you should do the following:
-Close all running programs (also antivirus and firewall)
-Make sure you are logged in as Administrator
-Unzip all files from zip archive
    I hope it helps :)

  • HELP! Strange  Boot / Start Up Problem on iBook G4 - Any NEW ideas?

    Hi everyone,
a bit information first: My early 2003 iBook G4/1Ghz has been working flawlessly all the time, been well operator maintenanced and updated regulary and gave me no real problems so far. Am working with it daily in the office and on trips.
Now, out of a blue sky, I face a weird, very stubborn boot problem after a sudden freeze/hang that enforced a hard restart a couple of days ago.
It won't go beyond the splash gray screen or sometimes the Apple Logo w/ spinning gear on start up. Safe Mode booting does not work either, no repairs are done obviously, it just keeps running for ever in "spinning mode" (HD sounds normal, though).
Tried all tricks, like PRAM reset, all peripherals disconnected, different start up modes e.g. into single user mode, won't work, no console appears.
Then -- sometimes after a night/few hours of rest -- it seems to boot perfectly fine to the desktop, all seems "normal", the HD appears, Dock, Programs, ... System Profiler didn't give me ANY useful hints to hardware or SW-related problem. Even the HD-S.M.A.R.T. info was NORMAL. Checked that, too!
After some minutes of seemingly normal conditions (about 10 to 20), I suddenly tend to get another of these really nasty hangs/freezes where no key combination will get you out, where no Apple Menu is accessable -> forces me to do a hard restart or shut off with the power button :-(( Same re-boot problem after that! (gray screen only, of course)
NOTE: Command-C boot from the CD Original Install Disc is possible, BUT when I try to launch Disk Utility to check/repair the HD, the internal drive DOES NOT show up in the list! Same problem occurs even with the great tool Disk Warrior that usally fixes almost ANY HD directory related problem
    • What could be the cause of this weird no-boot behavior?
    • Maybe an inconsistent damaged boot sektor on the HD?
    • Could I still acces it with any disk tools for testing/repairing?
    • Did I miss a trick to boot into some repair/testing routine?
    • How could I acess the HD maybe in slave mode to at least access my precious data?
    • Other good ideas to get me out of the nerve wrecking dilemma?
Your ideas and suggestions are very welcome and much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ron

If you haven't already try resetting the PMU. This is done by pressing ControlShift+OptionPower Button.
Perform an Archive and Install: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Backup your data and perform an Erase and Install
After doing either of the install steps, let the machine run for a bit to see what happens. Then perform software updates (repair permissions after each major update). Then reinstall your applications one by one, just in case one of them is the culprit.
Use the Apple Hardware Test disc that came with you machine.
If you come to the last point then chances are you'll need to send it in for repairs, as it will most likely point to a hardware issue once all the software has been ruled out.
Also, here is a link on how to use Target Disc mode in case your able to transfer your data.

  • Qosmio f60 14q, slow boot

my laptop has an extremly slow boot time so i downloaded soluto to check if a program is causing it and after multiple tests it takes 4-5 mins till i can use it. so i used the hdd recovery and reinstalled windows 7. and now it takes ~3 mins to boot. also soluto showed that the"system" takes 40-60 secs to open which is high compared to "weaker" machines in my house (~18 secs)

Can you see the HDD details in the BIOS?
Check this access the BIOS (press F2 while booting) and the HDD details should be mentioned on the first page.
If the HDD is not listed...well then the HDD is faulty

  • Qosmio F60 - existing advanced boot options after new OS installation

    Hello
I am asking about advanced boot option when pressing F8 after restarting the computer will be more exist if I have changed the operating system which originally came with my laptop Qosmio F60 ''win7'' to win 8.1 for example

The advanced boot menu which was part of the in Windows 7 system isnt available in Windows 8/8.1 system.
Microsoft changed the Windows system architecture in the new Win 8/8.1 and this menu has been replaced.
Usually if the Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 would not boot up properly, the system tries to fix the issue automatically. If the system will not be able to fix the issue automatically, the troubleshooting menu would appear.
If you want to access this menu manually, you have to do this within the system:
You have to open charm bar (win key + C) then Settings -> Change PC settings -> Update and recovery -> Recovery -> Advanced startup -> Restart now

  • Qosmio F60-00Y slow/laggish

    Hello,
I've got a Qosmio F60-00Y notebook which is generally very fast but yesterday night at around 10:30-11:00 PM (16th September Australian Eastern Standard Time) I noticed that it was lagging - scrolling on Firefox was 'delayed' rather than smooth, so I'd scroll down and Firefox would sort of freeze for a few seconds and then I'd be down the page accordingly.
I've done a number of things:
-taken the battery out and put it back in
    -updated BIOS
    -vacuumed the outside vents
    -restarted numerous times
    -malware/spyware/virus checks
    -uninstalled Firefox
All of this has seemed to improve it slightly but it's still not as fast as it was before. I uninstalled Firefox because I remembered that it had updated yesterday - I'm not sure the exact time and installed Google Chrome which is quicker, but the other applications such as Windows Media Centre are still quite slow. Even minesweeper lags slightly.
    Processor: Intel i7 2.67GHz
    RAM: 4 GB (2.98 usable)
    OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Fan speed is a constant 60-70% according to Health Monitor, I don't know if that's normal.
It takes longer to shut down and boot up than it used to, about a minute to boot up and then considerably longer than usual to log in and load all the things I have on start up, which isn't a lot.
Applications take longer to load up and lag, even when I right click on some things it lags which I've never had.
I've got no clue whether it's hardware or software. I tried the vents because I hadn't done that in a while and it gets a bit dusty as I don't move it much. The manual recommends cleaning the cooling system every few months, should I try that?
    Thanks.

    Hi buddy,
Of course you can use this complete backup file as well but its only useful if you didnt have this problem at the time you created complete backup file because this could be a software issue.
In worst case you must do a recovery installation (factory settings). This would wipe the whole HDD but so you can make sure if its a hardware issue or not.
    Check this!!!

    Hi everyone:)

Now the laptop completed 14 months and I did recovery lots of time because of the problems and stuck I have from it.
last day I did the recovery and I noticed that the laptop become more and more slowly !!!
it takes about 5 minutes to start !!!!!!! not just that,,,after started and open any folder you will notice how slowly it is. Even videos I can't open it because the laptop will stuck and play the video very very slow!!

    Hi
First of all I would recommend checking the HDD for errors HDD malfunction might affect the computer performance you should check the HDD using the freeware toolsone of the tools which I use is the Drive Fitness Test it was posted several times here in the forum and its really great software.
If the HDD would be ok and if no error would be detected, then I would recommend disabling some processes which are not important for you in many cases different tools would be loaded during the OS boot procedure and such tools run in the background which slow down the OS.
Start msconfig and check the Startup Tab
Here you will see all the software which is loaded at the beginning you can uncheck not necessary tools
Note: if you are not sure what the single process means, use google and search in internet for more details otherwise dont disable this.

  • Re: Qosmio F60/05M - PXE-E61 media test failure and harddisk failure

    Hi
    My problem is the computer freezes often and has issues with windows explorer. Also it will freeze when in games. I don't know if the issues are related but after freezing when it starts to reboot it will come up with a black screen reading;
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
When I press anything it just comes up with the same message. If I turn the notebook off by the power button and give it some time before turning it on it gives me the option to start windows in safemode or normal if I choose safemode it doesn't start. Also when I run the toshiba PC diagnostic tool the harddisk fails the test. It doesn't give me any explanation.
This problem has occurred a number of times over the last couple of weeks.
    The model is:
    Qosmio F60/05M PQF65A-05M02W
Any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Mick

    Hi mick,
    > Also when I run the toshiba PC diagnostic tool the harddisk fails the test.
This would be also my personal opinion that something is wrong with HDD itself I mean if the computer try to boot it access the internal HDD and start Windows but if the computer cant find the internal HDD it tries to boot from LAN
I think you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys should check your HDD and replace it if it necessary.
Furthermore backup all your data if you didnt do this as yet. Therefore you can use an external USB HDD.

  • Qosmio F60 keeps freezing up

Ok Im getting desperate here, I really dont want to get my F60 repaired.
Ive had it for about 2 weeks now, and it constantly freezes.
It freezes mainly when I put the thing to sleep. It also freezes sometimes when booting up, waking up, switching users and when I put it into hibernation mode.
There isnt very much software on the machine, theres a few games, AVG, firefox and not much else.
So I thought Id try the Toshiba utility PC Diagonostic Tool. It wont work not matter what, it will always freeze up the computer.
What actually happens is, when I put the computer to sleep, Windows 7 shuts down to a black screen, the screen goes black (but does not turn off), and the fans start booting up and spinning. The power light stays on, and I can push the volume buttons and they make sounds.
I cant do anything else though, it just stays black, and wont turn off, and I have to hold down the power button to get it to turn off.
I installed all my programs the first week I had it, and it was working fine.
The only thing Ive done since was change the power settings, but I changed them numerous times since to try to get it working again and it doesnt. Ive also ran a Windows update (for the first time) after the problem was happening to see if that fixed it. It comes up with no updates in the Toshiba utility.
Windows start up repair cant fix it or find anything wrong, and using system restore does nothing either.
Is there anything I should do or know before I go back to the shop?
The only other thing I have to mention is that it takes Windows 7 ages to start up.
Not the booting process, but when you log into the OS it takes about 5 minutes to load all the components up, I usually have to wait a few minutes for it to even connect to my Wifi, it starts up in the same amount of time as my dodgy laptop with XP and a dodgy hard drive.
Ive only just noticed this because I now do a full reboot instead of wake up like I was doing in my first week.
A search of google and this forum doesnt turn up many answers.

    Hi killer1500,
At the moment I would not say its a hardware malfunction. Theoretically it could be software malfunction
Your notebook should be still under warranty. That means hardware can be exchanged for free from authorized service provider but before you contact the guys you should reinstall Windows.
You can use the HDD recovery feature as PauPau wrote or you use the Toshiba recovery disk that you have created. It will restore your notebook back to factory settings, that means you have the same settings as you purchased it (out of box settings). With these settings your notebook is pretested. With other words there are no software issues on recovery image without additional software.
    Check this!!!

  • Whining (bleep sound) Qosmio F60

    Hey !
My Qosmio F60 making a very annoying bleep sound. The source of this bleep is approximately the left side of the keyboard under the Q,W,A,S buttons. It's only if the notebook don't have to work hard. If i am playing games or watching TV the sound is gone.
Anybody have the same problem ?
Maybe you can help me out to solve this problem.
    Thanks

    >It's only if the notebook don't have to work hard.
Start your notebook, enter BIOS settings and leave it for a while. Can you hear this sound again?
To be honest it is not easy to say for sure what it can be but if you can hear it again and again I think you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. You have new notebook with valid warranty so the repair will be for free.
Some software related issue can be fixed easily but I presume described issue is hardware related issue, so best option is to contact service and ask for help.

  • Qosmio F60-00Y- Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor crash

    Hi,
Just started having problems today with my Qosmio F60-00Y, purchased June 2010. I do have extended warranty but just wanted a quick fix since system is still operational.
As I have lost my factory settings recovery I can not reset my system.
It is working fine at the moment as long as I don't open both programs Intel RST, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor.
When I open one, system decides to freeze and fan speed accelerates and it shuts the notebook down. I have done system restore several times too and same problem still happens.
I have reinstalled both programs from:
    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/qosmio/f60/pqf65a-00y002/download
After re-installing assuming, programs will run fine again. Same thing happens, crashes and shuts down.
I do regular virus and anti spy-wear check up with trend micro 2012 and still active every 7 days and defragment the system every 7 days.
    No viruses and spy-wear found.
    PLEASE HELP!
    thanks,
    Lem S.

It is not easy to say how you can fix this.
Try to remove all problematic applications, clean registry entries and try to install it again.

  • Qosmio F60-10L Bios is not working

    Hey there,
    I just bought a Toshiba Qosmio F60-10L.
Now the Bios is not working anymore. Everytime I want to enter Bios menu with "F2" the computer is restarting instantly.
Last week the mainboard has been changed.
But now, after I set a Supervisor password, the problem comes again.
Has anyone an Idea what to do?
    Greets marx

    Hi
You mean you are not able to access the BIOS or you are not able to boot up the notebook?
I think if you had some problems in the past (you said that motherboard has been changed) then I would assume that this issue might be related again to the same reason which appeared previously
Maybe it would be advisable to ask the guys who have replaced eh motherboard for help
Then could remove the BIOS password or Supervisor password and could update the BIOS if necessary

  • Qosmio F60-10K - Exact drivers or recovery disk

    Hello,
I have recently purchased this model, however got some problems with HDD and had to fully format it. So Recovery function is lost. Couldnt find exact drivers for this model and as I used drivers I have found under name Qosmio F60, made laptop boot longer and Win Experience index is quite lower.
So the question is, where could I find exact drivers for Toshiba Qosmio F60-10K or order recovery DVD/BD?

    Hi s0vijus,
If you search for exact drivers, it would be very interesting to know which OS you are using. The drivers for Windows 7 32bit and Windows 7 64bit are different so its an important information. Normally everything can be downloaded here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Last but not least you can order a recovery disk here from Toshiba directly but its not for free:
    https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
