Start button in FPM configuration

Hi all,
There is a start button in FPM for initial screen.
In my webdynpro component, i have created 2 applications MAINTAIN and APPROVE.
Few days back i was able to hide start button for MAINTAIN application,
but because of the requirement change I had to hide for application APPROVE also.
I tried to hide in the same way as I have done for MAINTAIN application but button is not getting hidden.
Is there anything that I am missing like refresh of something, so that FPM configuration change is reflected
Thanks in advance.
Veda

Hi,
Problem is resolved.
There is a dropdown in FPM config, there I have selected webdynpro built in and then made button container of initial screen invisible.
But did not work for approve application as the FPM config changes are not getting saved.
I had to create a new application.
The changes would get saved if the support pack SAPKA70207(SAP_ABA) and SAPKB70207(SAP_BASIS) is implemented
Thanks
Veda

  • FPM: Tooltip for the start button

    Hi FPM experts,
I have one question/requirement concerning the start button within the FPM GAFfloorplan. I would like to add a tooltip to that button. I know that this button is part of the FPM and can not be influenced during design time.
Nevertheless I hoped to be able to influence the button during runtime, namely by using the interface  IF_FPM_CNR_GAF and the method DEFINE_BUTTON. According to the Developers Guide for FPM Release 701 this should work for standard buttons. However I did not succeed in using this method.
When taking a closer look at the signature I also became aware that there is one parameter missing in the signature of the interface that is described within the Developers Guide (IV_SCREEN): To the best of my knowledge this parameter is not available in 7.01/7.1 systems.
Any help on that topic is appreciated!
    Thanks

I have checked with some Windows 7 machines in workgroup, and they are all no infotips from the start menu items, this might by design.

  • Win 8.1 Start button and Charms randomly stops working BUG (workaround)

To anyone experiencing this, it is a bug in Win 8.1 which I can replicate at will.
Reinstalling your system as suggested by MS engineers will not fix this.
To force the bug to appear:
    1. Grab a desktop Icon (recycle bin, any shortcut) and move this up to the top left hand corner without letting go of the mouse button. Drop shortcut anywhere on desktop. Without an Icon the mouse pointer would initiate the recent apps.
    2. To check that the first step has worked, try and invoke charms by moving mouse to top right hand corner.  If Charms do not appear then the bug has been triggered.
    3. Now move mouse over start button (no click), move away then back again. Now the start button is locked.  If you unlock the taskbar you can move it to any other position (top, left or right) and the start button works.  Move taskbar back to the
bottom and the start button still does not work.  Only way to get it working again is to restart window explorer in task manager.
To avoid this happening all you need to do is disable recent apps corner.
    1. Right click desktop.
    2. Click Taskbar and Navigation
    3. Click Navigation tab in the properties window
    4. Uncheck "When I click the upper-left corner, switch between my recent tabs."
Now the bug cannot be triggered as above to make the start button stop working. You have to remove this feature which is pretty hopeless on a desktop anyway.  Its better than restarting Window explorer every time.
I can replicate this on any desktop or laptop, fresh install or old. Not sure about any touch screen machines. I can also trigger this in VMPlayer\Virtual Box and the Modern IE VM images that MS provide.
Now the MS engineers can replicate this on their machines, and maybe if we are lucky they will FIX it!!!!
MS please acknowledge that this is a bug.
Maybe the issue is due to the windows button not being redrawn on the screen once triggered as it still works when taskbar is moved (graphic card drivers). Could not find anything use full in the system logs.
Just noticed also that the charms also breaks if you drag an Icon up to the right hand corner. Once triggered Charms stops working, start button is not affected with the above work around configured.
MS please read this and reply.

suspect it is local to your environment.

  • Problems with new start button right-click context menu

I have been unable to come up with a rhyme or reason to this problem.
For some reason the Windows 8.1 start button will no longer respond to a right-click.  The context menu will not come up.  You can see that the active window is no longer active because the border color changes.  The start button works as
    expected when left-clicking it.
I first noticed this on a brand new Windows 8 machine that I upgraded to Windows 8.1.  The problem occurred while I was messing with trying to customize the default user profile.  The next time I logged in with a new user account the start button
was broke.  The system I was using was stripped down.  It had NO additional software on it except the drivers and necessary associated applications, and all available Windows updates were installed.  I chaulked it up to something I messed up.
Next, I reformatted 20 lab computers with Windows 8.1 Pro and joined them to a Server 2003 domain.  Users have roaming profiles and folder redirection policies.  The folder redirection policies redirect AppData, Documents, and Desktop to a folder
on the server and the contents of these folders are shared between Windows XP and Windows 8.1.  The roaming profiles are unique and new.  Thus far all users have only logged on to Windows XP so they have the version 1 profile and when they logon
to the Windows 8.1 box a new .v2 profile folder is created.
Today, we logged about 12 users into these individual machines for the first time and about 3 or 4 of them could not right-click their start button.  Once the problem occurs, it never goes away regardless of what machine they log into.  The only
way to solve the problem is to default the profile off the computer and delete the roaming profile folder off the server.  The problem has reoccurred after this but I'm not sure what triggers it.
In addition, I have tried renaming the user's redirected application data folder and letting Windows 8.1 create a new one in case there was a conflict with a Windows XP setting.  This did not resolve the issue.

In my environment we had a network "Default User.V2" profile that we used with Win7 clients.  Now, with Win8 and Win8.1 we've configured the clients to use V3 and V4 profiles (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2887239/en-us).
That link is for the Win8 hotfix, which changes the roaming profile of users to .V3, but there's also one for 8.1 and it changes the profile folder to .V4.
Anyway, we have since deleted the Default User.V2 from our network.  In testing the creation of .V4 roaming profiles with Win8.1, I've figured out a little more about the WinX folder.  If I have a roaming profile and log into a Win8.1 computer
for the first time, the WinX folder is created as part of my profile during the "Hi, we're setting things up, many bright colors" spiel before you get to the Metro screen.  However, when I log out, because the WinX folder is in the Local AppData, it doesn't
get uploaded to my roaming profile location.  If I then log back into the same computer, everything is fine because that computer still has a local copy of my profile with WinX in the Local AppData.  However, if I log into any other computer, the
WinX folder doesn't get created and I can no longer right click on the Start menu (until I copy it to my Local AppData on that computer).
So, it seems that when I first log in to a Win8.1 computer and go through the "Hi....etc etc....many different colors" startup, the WinX folder is created and will work on that computer, but if I log into another computer, it isn't downloaded as part of
my roaming profile or re-created.  Also, if you have the GPO set to delete copies of roaming profiles off of the computer when a user logs out, I would guess that the WinX folder would then get deleted and when you log back in you'd have the same issue.

  • Create button in Device Configuration

    Hi ALL
We are not getting the Create, Delete, Copy button in Device Configurations in Mobile Administrator web Console.
Any idea how to get the missing buttons?
    Regards
    Manish

    Hello Manish,
Are you using SAP MI Web console, if so, then with device configurations you can configure mobile devices without being able to access them directly.
    1.Start transaction DEVICE_CONFIG.
2.Enter a name for the new device configuration and choose Create.
Note : Device configurations should not have the same name as a mobile component.
3.On the Monitoring Functions tab, enter the required monitoring configurations.
    4. On the Assignments tab, enter the role you want to assign to the device configuration and thus to the monitoring functions.
If you want to assign the device templates to individual devices or users instead, you can do so in the SAP MI Web Console. In this case, please refer to below help link -

  • Use picture as start button.

I have a company logo that I would like to use as the start button for my program.  I tried to hide an "OK" button and place the picture over the button, but then I can't work the button at all.  I made the button visable and put the logo on top of the button, but then I can only work the button using the enter key.  I'd like to be able to click the logo (button) or press enter to start the program, but I can't seem to get LabVIEW to let me do both.  It might be acceptable to have the start button appear whenever I move the pointer over the logo, but I definitely don't know how to configure a button to do that.  Can anyone help me?

Have you tried to make the button transparent, and put the button on top of the logo ?

  • Is there a "start" button

How do I browse installed software? Do Macs have a "start" button similar to Windows or do I just go to "applications" in my hard drive?

Yeah, but the start button brings up a menu that can keep expanding, and you can manuver through all the programs and subcategories easily by just moving the mouse around, no clicking needed until you get where you want to go (what program you want to run). Once you do that, then the Start menu goes back into hiding so you don't have to close or minimize the folder to get it to not be shown anymore. Also, shortcut icons on the desktop are much more used which act just like the dock does really, and there are also the options for the Quick Launch of programs, program icons in the system tray (where the clock is) where you can select which ones to "hide" all the time or just when inactive... etc.
There are also many programs that let you customize and configure the start menu, quick launch and system tray areas to the way you want them, as well as the right click button menu and so forth. There are also many different "dock" applications available.
And while you can say that Microsoft or the other 3rd Party companies stole those ideas from OSX (which may be true), it doesn't change the fact that Windows has tons of different options available, many with freeware even...
Personally, I really do like OSX alot, as the only thing I have always disliked and still do, is the fact that the top menu bar changes with each program and you have to go into the recent applications list to go back to another program window that is still open to access it (if you are using Full Screen sized program windows).
This above, compared to windows with the tabs for each open application (if not in the system tray as an icon), where you can easily just click on the tab you want and it takes over the current focus, or you can have all be "hidden" by being minimized and just shown by the tab in the bottom bar.
Windows also actually closes the program when you hit the "close window" button on it, instead of making it look gone but still having it's processes running (which is how the windows Mobile OS for PDAs is, and there are a million different freeware applications that have been created to use to help correct this problem by actually taking over the process and letting you always "close" with the x or letting it ask you etc. This shows that there are many others out there like me, that like to permanently close an application if we know we will not be using it again for quite a while, and do it easily.
There may be many that like OSX the way it is now, which is fine too, to each their own... But, I do like the option of being able to choose which style I would like to use (which windows does at least by having more 3rd party applications expand the OS experience) and I know I would just like to see more options available for OSX in the future.

  • Start Button only Prompts Windows Power Options

    Hello,
I have an odd issue whereby clicking the "Start" button does not bring up the Start Menu, but the Shut Down options menu pops up prompting me to either Shut Down, Reboot, Log Off, etc.
I removed any Group Policies in MMC associated with any profiles. I also removed the SID Folders within C:\windows\system32\GroupPolicyUsers.
What settings would change the behavior of the Start Menu?

    Hi Brenton,
That is interesting that removing the Group Policy from MMC and the user's GP folder does not set the configured settings back to Not Configured. However, a reboot was performed after the removal, but I will inspect Policy settings once again during a Maintenance
    Window tonight.
It is something that catches a lot of people. Group Policy is the "policy enforcer". So when you set a policy, like "set wallpaper to XYZ", it will make sure that the wall paper is XYZ. When you remove the group policy that tells the
wallpaper to be XYZ, it doesn't change it back to the original wallpaper, it just leaves it at XYZ and will allow the user to change it from that point forward.
This is also true for other policies on systems. Just because you remove the policy, it won't set things "back to default". You have to create a new Group Policy to set it "back to default", or manually set it back to default on the system
    as described by MeipoXu.

  • Firefox 4 download. Since, Windows start button options changed. Should be browser agnostic, can you please tell me how to fix this? While I love Firefox, this has me livid! (1 irony, Firfox is no longer in my Start button menu.)

I first noticed an issue when looking for something normally located in the Accessories folder of MS programs. What I found upon clicking on "All Programs" was not the program file/folder tree I expected but rather a direct list of all files in the Program Files folder. I then went to open a new session of Firefox to research that issue and noticed my basic Start button options were also changed. Now, even focus for event-driven events is not working correctly. Again, while I love Firefox, this needs to be fixed immediately or I will be forced to uninstall the product just to function.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

MY screen continually freezes up. I've tried closing all apps that are open and have held down the home button and start button simultaneously but neither helped. Can someone out there help me?

Well the next couple of things to try would be to reset all settings, and if that doesn't help, it's probably time to restore the iOS software.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. That will take all settings on the iPad back to factory defaults. It will not delete anything and you will not lose any data, but you will have to enter all settings again ...WiFi passwords, enable Siri, select your wallpaper, adjust brightness, turn on location services and set privacy settings, etc, etc.
You can read about restoring the software here.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software - Support - Apple
Should you decide to restore the iOS, it is extremely important that you back up first so that you can restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes afterward in order to restore all content back to the iPad. It is all covered in the kb article.
If you do not sync with iTunes, then I assume that you backup with iCloud. In that case you can erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Once again, backing up with I loud is I,operative before you do this so that you can restore from the iCloud backup after you erase the iPad and start over again with activation.
You should read this first before you restore from either backup.

  • How can I disable an add on of a second status bar or browsing bar at bottom of screen above the Start button? It pops up showing every site I visit.

There is status/info/browsing line of information showing every single site I use and changes with every site I visit. It isn't in a box, but it shows basically all my browsing. It is like the address bar, but it is at the bottom of the screen and the information shows right above the 'start' button. If you try to click on it, it moves to the right side and you can't right click on it to see if you can close it. It may be an add on, but I don't know how to get rid of it. It is like I have two status bars but this one isn't in a box, it just shows in a line at the bottom of the screen. It shows all browsing information, and it is very distracting when I'm using my computer.

You appear to be describing the status messages. The easiest way to hide them is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.
